Great location - super close to the main beaches, viewpoints and Old Lagos. Friendly staff - the reception and housekeeping staff were all professional and helpful We loved the rustic and unique touches of the property. We wanted something that wasn’t a resort and this fit the bill. The only negative was that the wifi was a bit spotty at times.
Very quaint. Fabulous breakfast. Pool was a nice rest area.
Very nice little suites, walking distance to everything or a really cheap Uber. Lots of new construction underway beside the hotel but not a problem. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Absolutely could not have been lovelier! Beautiful. Also, wonderful staff and location.
Excellent hotel - Staff was very helpful (Arianne)
Extraodinary hotel with a special cachet that we don't see often.
Electric cool casual vibe with great privacy available to all rooms. Nicely equipped units, but furnishings in room were not of quality in line with the atmosphere. More luxurious linens and furnishings seem appropriate. WiFi was a bit inconsistent. Outdoor areas are lovely but until nearby construction is completed area surrounding hotel is a bit of a mess. Beds a bit hard.
Such a gorgeous place. We got the one bedroom apartment which was spacious and comfortable. The grounds are like you are in an oasis, beautiful plants and flowers everywhere you turn. Easy walk to the beach and downtown Lagos. The staff were very helpful. They helped me get reservations at several restaurants before I left for my trip. Definitely recommend this place!
Wonderful
Beautiful hotel with a fantastic and attentive staff. The breakgast was excellent and the location was very convenient to many excellent attractions.
This was one of our favorite hotels during out visit to Portugal. We really loved the beautiful grounds and the ease of walking to the beaches as well as the nearby restaurants. We would certainly stay here again!
The rooms are so charming and unique--set within a beautiful garden with a pool. Very quiet and private. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, helping with dinner reservations, a boat tour, and even helping us get into our room late at night when our key didn't work. Great full breakfast, too. Loved our stay and would return.
Beautiful villa with multiple rooms, each with bathroom and a very private "nook" Great pool, very close to beautiful beach, but far from historic center- still walkable. Con- for the future- there is a whole complex of condominiums being built just behind the fence. I wish I could move this place a couple of blocks away so it remains such a perfect oasis forever
Lagos Gem
Uma Casa `a Beira Sol was dream like. We were assigned the top room where you can see the ocean. You have amazing sunrise views. The hotel is so beautiful with manicured grounds, fruit trees, well and fountains, a beautiful pool, couches and table/chairs outdoors for lounging or having morning breakfast. I would definitely recommend this gem in Lagos.
This property is an oasis. Amazing spot. Can walk to everything you need. Pool was perfect.
Uma Casa is a little oasis. So much care and attention has been put into every inch of the property as well as the rooms. Also, the pool is the best. The staff are so kind and do everything to make sure the guests are comfortable. Amazing experience here and cannot wait to return one day.
Highly recommend this wonderful hotel. It is so different to the big resorts near by. A much nicer, quieter feel. Feels like a paradise. The staff is so kind and helpful. The view from our room was gorgeous. City centre is a quick walk and the beach is even closer. Can’t say enough good things
Beautiful small paradise hotel ! Tha property is well maintained and our small cottage like room was very cozy. The pool and the garden are so nice and we were served breakfast in our patio. The lady remembered what we had asked for breakfast which was not on the menu from the day before. Martha and the whole staff were so friendly and helpful. We had accidentally left a luggage cover to our rental car and when we emailed them they were so kind to look for it on the street and found it. We are so grateful for their hospitality!! We will come back for sure!!
Loved the quiet and relaxed feel of this property
Absolutely charming place
The decor of this place is so beautiful and every detail has been thought about a lot. The rooms were spacious and there were many places to relax. The staff were friendly and the place was cleaned very well each day. I did not want to leave!
Gorgeous environment. Will definitely return!
Beautiful spot! Loved the atmosphere that they have created. A little piece of heaven.
Superior Suite Sea and Garden View
We had such a fantastic time here. The gardens were stunning and the view from the apartment and terrace was just like a painting. The breakfast was vast with a huge selection to choose from. The staff were incredibly helpful throughout our stay. I would happily visit again. The location was just a short walk from stunning beaches.
The place is absolutely beautiful and artistically decorated.
Parking it just around the corner and is a dirt lot. They let me check in late and where super helpful about it. Easily my favorite stay in all of portagual.
Lovely place we would love to stay at again!
Beautiful room and unique property with a great vibe. The only negative was that directly behind the property is a construction site which was noisy in the morning.
Loved the feel of this hotel with its unique spots and nooks. Great stay! Thank you.
A very special property!
A very special guesthouse, in a great little neighborhood and within a 5-10 minute walk of Praia do Camilo. Such a unique and beautiful property. The freshly prepared breakfasts were also a treat. Great and friendly staff ... very welcoming. Look forward to a return visit one day.
Enjoyed the stay The pool was great and it was an easy walk to the beach Parking was easy around the property Staff were helpful Taking car into town historic centre was easy if you use the paid parking building that are handy to the town centre
Absolutely gorgeous, even more beautiful than it looks in the pictures. Genuinely blown away by the Villa, the service, the location- everything was perfect and would return in a heartbeat!
Close to beach’s
Great place to stay in Lagos! Staff are very friendly. Breakfast was amazing!! Highly recommend this place!
Stunning property
The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, lush, verdant and colourful with lots of beautiful flowers. The room was charming, feminine, beautifully designed on a budget, very rustic (possibly too rustic for those who prefer very practical accommodation), with lovely stone flooring, heart shaped bed and 360 views of lush gardens and a field full of purple wildflowers. There was a lovely bottle of wine, charcuterie platter and jazz music playing in room on arrival. Many of the staff were friendly and kind. Hotel and nearby area felt safe. The private terrace was lovely, surrounded by beautiful gardens. Close to Dona Ana beach which is beautiful and sheltered. Hotel provided map and restaurant recommendations on arrival. Some of the restaurant recommendations were great, the pizzeria nearby, Gato Pardo, was excellent. The orange juice, salami and ham at breakfast were lovely, the other items pretty average. Cleanliness was good, but the toilet seat was stained and should be replaced. The toilet was also quite small, very rustic. Beautiful shower but not very private. No shower gel or body lotion provided. Towels were not great quality and kept shedding. The round/heart-shaped bed was cute but not very long, not the best for tall people. For the price, some improvements could be made, but it is a lovely place for a few nights.
If you go to Lagos... you have to stay here!!
This place is fab!! It’s absolutely beautiful just as shown in the pictures... the pool is gorgeous and really peaceful. Not right for people who are looking for pool service etc. As you get left to your own devices which is what we like and expected. It’s great so you can take your own beer/wine to the pool.. our room was right by the pool but all rooms are max of 10/20secs away. There’s no strict tools like pool opening/closing time’s etc. The staff are really friendly. This place totally made our trip to Lagos. The location is great... there is a beach 5 min walk away, ponta pietade 10 mins then your in the old town in 15/20 min easy walk. There is also a shop and bar just round the corner and the neighbourhood is really peaceful. We loved it!! One of the best places we’ve stayed!!
Very clean and spacious. Great breakfast but at cost. Very friendly staff. No parking at the property but convenient parking just outside. Great location for walks and sights.
Loved this B and B. The breakfast was delicious and the room was clean and the grounds are beautiful!
Very nice property and walkable to beaches, dining, and the old town.
Relaxing stay in a spectacular Algarve location
Spent a week in a tranquil, rustic, well-serviced apartment a stone throw from spectacular rock-fringed beaches and with superb coastal walking trails nearby.
A true gem! If I could give them 10 stars I would. Very quiet and peaceful. Very nicely decorated and clean. You can truly relax here. The staff I found to be the friendliest people I met anywhere in my 7 day tour of Portugal. They truly work hard to make you comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful. Great location —close to historic center and beaches. Wish I had allowed more time here in my itinerary. Would stay again for sure.
This was a very cute and relaxing place to stay which was located near Lagos. We had a car which is needed to see all the great attractions near here. Restaurants and the beach are within walking distance.
This is a beautiful property, very quiet and great for couples. The landscaping is absolutely incredible. It is walking distance from the local beaches. The breakfast each morning was wonderful. Thank you.
I would stay here again
Wonderful small hotel where no two rooms are alone. Functions more like a BnB. Beautiful garden and pool. Clean and convenient. I would absolutely stay here again.
One of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. The rooms are all unique, well designed and very comfortable. Beds a good size. TV is very small it may as well not be there, also a shame towels don’t get changed every day. The hotel is beautifully kept with such lovely flowers and gardens everywhere. The pool area is also very beautiful. Hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the local beach (before you’ve taken the many steps to reach the beach) but must be one of the closest hotels in the area to the beaches. It’s 20 minutes from the old town area but for us that was a plus as it meant more peace and quiet and space from the travellers / young people holidays you find in that area. Would look forward to staying again and would definitely recommend to anyone in Lagos.
The property layout offered privacy for each unit and made it feel like we were totally secluded in a garden. We were able to walk everywhere (but Uber was always available if we felt lazy!) which was great. Everyone on the staff was so kind and made our stay even more lovely.
Oasis in Lagos
Beautiful place to stay. Perfect location close to the beach in a quiet neighborhood.
A Place of Relaxation
Uma Casa à Beira Sol is the type of place to disconnect and decompress. The grounds are beautiful and super relaxing. The studio I stayed in flowed easily into the outdoor space which further enhanced the relaxing nature of the place. Only issue was the WIFI repeater in my area of the property but that was diagnosed and addressed. The location of the property puts you closer to the beaches with the grottoes but outside of town - still walkable to town but a bit of a tradeoff.
The pool and garden were beautiful! The location was great, close to amazing beaches and cliffs. The studio kitchen was well equipped.
Beautiful!!! We will be coming back to this special place for sure.
Enchanting European B Nd B
Great location. Very friendly. Breakfast was very good but would have liked more breakfast choices.....
Fabulous hotel. Great location. Close to beaches, historical town and marina. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Beautiful gardens and fountains. Room was spacious with equipped kitchen Highly recommended.
Experience authentic Portugal
Real villa experience. Great breakfast. Lovely pool and grounds. Close to beach. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Loved the tour of the grotto from the beach Dona Ana.
Such lovely surroundings & each unit uniquely decorated. The place is set up to evoke dreamy relaxation & romance. I'd love to live there. Close walk to beach & 20 minute walk to town - we loved it, even in the rain. The staff was very sweet when we had a rental car mishap, helping us to figure everything out.
Boutique accommodation with a unique style
We enjoyed our stay at the Uma Casa à Beira Sol. The staff were lovey, it felt very private and the decor was quite unique
Great location, rooms quaint, clean and well appointed, would not hesitate to stay again or recommend to friends
Pleasant Oasis
The hotel was a lovely oasis on the edge of the village. But be warned it is not a pretty road or local view nearby. A large two-building complex that apparently went bust is very close. The road to the hotel is very rough. And it is not walking distance to the immediate town center for sightseeing or restaurants. That being said, we loved the accommodations. We were served a pleasant breakfast on a terrace near our room, more food than we could eate.
Stunning hotel close to the beach
We had such an excellent experience at this boutique hotel! The staff was so warm and genuinely welcoming (she even noticed one of us had a birthday coming up and dropped by to wish us!). The hotel itself is stunning with picture perfect views everywhere you look. They have either private or some private patios for the rooms where breakfast is served every morning (a multi course meal that ends with some delicious pastel de nata.. yum!). Cherry on the top - they had a welcome bottle of wine with some charcuterie and cheese waiting for us in the room which we were able to enjoy on the patio. The location is great given its ~10min walk from the main beach (Camilo) and the key viewpoint for the rock formations (ponte de piedade). They town itself is ~15min away - it might be a bit of an inconvenience if you prefer staying in town but we didn't mind at all given proximity to the beach and the short walk to and from town. Quite frankly, given most people will be at the beach during the day, staying in town doesn't have too many benefits given it will be somewhat deserted before sunset Overall, it was a lovely stay and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone - we hope to return ourselves someday!
A House By The Sun
Uma Casa à Beira Sol when translated into English reads as A House By The Sun. And thats what we experienced during our stay from July 1st-5th, 2017. We booked this hotel on Hotels.com from their India website. And we are so glad we did. At the reception, Tanya was extremely helpful and always smiling making life easier for travellers like us in a new town. From Recommending restaurants marked on a ready city map she made for us, to the excellent breakfast served right outside our room, to the beautifully kept and managed place, to arranging a cab, to making bookings for a boat tour, to obliging us with some repeated requests for some milk for our coffee [ oh yeah.. just add creamers in the beautiful coffee/tea tray kept in all rooms ], to answering way too many questions that I constantly had, as my wife put it, but patiently with a smile, Tanya knows hospitality. And then there was Alexandra who was as great, and helpful and smiling. The rooms are clean. The water is always warm if required. Fresh towels everyday. Perfectly working air conditioners if needed. Zero exterior noise. It is so perfectly located. 10-12 mins walking distance from the beautiful city centre and to three of the most famous beaches in Lagos. Simon the cat was an added bonus. Knew who to go to. So no trouble there. Would say Just Book this Place!! You Wont regret it. For family, romance or solo, this is worth the money!!
Little Heaven
One of the nicest little hotels I have stayed at, in a secret garden setting. Dream!!
Nice stay
Nice hotel, very friendly staff. Good location. I had problems with the bathroom. Very bad design of the shower . While i was taking shower the water was simply going directly in the midle of the room !!! It could be be fixed very fast and very cheap. I couldn t understand why it wasn t done ????!!!!!. Shower needs a small shelf for cosmetics. Toilet wasn t phonic isolated from the main room. Overall very bad design of the room.
Stay Here When Visiting Lagos
My wife and I had a wonderful time at this lovely family-owned hotel.
Nice small hotel
Good location close to a beautiful beach. Nice service, very good breakfast. Strange distribution of bathroom wasn´t so confortable.
Two nights in Lagos
Fantastic hotel! Could not have been better.
A divine little hidden gem
This is by far the nicest hotel our family has ever enjoyed. The location is perfect, a nice walk to the center with restaurants, the beach, and Lagos life. The people are so accommodating (made our kayaking reservations for us), the pool area is gorgeous, the grounds are breathtaking, the rooms are full of windows that scream to be open, and the breakfast was divine. The kind servers brought our breakfast to our private terrace! Fresh breads, cafè con leche, fresh orange juice, eggs, ham & salami, tomatoes & cucumbers with thyme and sea salt, cheese, tarts, and fresh fruit, and we stuffed ourselves. This hotel is a hidden gem...I believe the word will get out. We were extremely pleased with everything and we will return!
Stay as long as you can - beautiful hotel!
Even though we arrived an hour after check in, the room wasn't ready, which was fine because the grounds are beautiful so it was perfect to relax by the pool. Wifi wasn't able to support Skype which made it impossible to work, which was inconvenient, but not the end of the world. Location is quiet, but a bit of a walk to everything. Breakfast was amazing, well worth the cost. In the end I would have happily stayed long and will definitely visit again.
Cozy hotel
I really enjoyed the hotel ambiance. Small, cozy, beautifully decorated. All small details of the room decoration were very nice. Very friendly staff. Breakfast serve in the garden. Very pleasant.
Prefect weekend getaway
The facilities were excellent. The location near the beaches was perfect since we didn't have a car. It was only a 15 minute walk to the nearest beach. It was about the same distance into town. The boutique feel of the hotel was great. I'm used to European style hotel rooms that are typically too small or lack certain facilities, this place exceeded all of my expectations. Breakfast was served every morning at 9am on the patio and it included a large spread. There was a hotel pool available but with the beach around the corner we never used it. Over all out was a great experience, if I'm back in town I would not hesitate to book my stay here again.
I could live here
If I ever was going to move to a small coastal town then it would be here. This place is beautiful, I wish we had longer there. Get the breakfast to!
A quaint & gorgeous villa with a few little quirks
I was a little hesitant upon arriving to the area surrounding the villa as our GPS system had us off about a block next to a uncompleted resort that had fallen into complete disrepair. Luckily it took us just a few minutes to find our small villa. The staff was very friendly & the grounds were well cared for with beautiful flowers & plant life. Our room was very quaint & clean. There was even a small nook that included plates, bottle opener, etc. We were in a double room with another unknown couple on the other side. The walls were thin, so we could hear their conversations. Also, the room included like 400+ tv channels, some of which include women in various states of undress enticing you to call them on the phone. So if you have small children, I'd be really vigilant on what they are watching on TV. The bed itself was super comfy. The breakfast we had al fresco on our patio was wonderful. It consisted of bread, cheeses, fruit, eggs & those cute little egg custard tarts. The villa itself is a very short drive to the beaches. After the initial shock of the neighborhood wore off (they give travelers keys to lock the gate at night), I really warmed up to the villa. You do have to park your vehicle on the street, so I would make sure I didn't have anything valuable in your car. I recommend this villa for romantic getaway & would definitely stay there again.
my favorite while in Portugal
Well, during a three week adventure tour throughout the entire country of Portugal I stayed in12 different hotels inns or apartments. I have to say that this little place was my favorite of all. staff, location, and uniqueness . 5 out of 5. The price was well worth it.
Beautiful, quiet oasis
We wish we could have stayed longer! This little boutique hotel is absolutely beautiful, well-kept, clean and comfortable. The young woman at reception was lovely and spoke perfect English. Breakfast was served on our own little outdoor terrace. The pool is small but very quiet, as is the immediate neighborhood. On the negative side, it is EXTREMELY difficult to find if you're going just by a map as the streets are not name correctly -- if their names are shown at all, which seems a problem throughout Portugal: missing street signs/names. I recommend you call or email the hotel in advance and obtain clear and precise directions on how to find the hotel. This should actually be part of the hotels.com writeup, to call and get directions because the actual streets as shown on the map provided either don't exist or have different (or no) names.
Alovely place to stay in Lagos, POrtugal
Lagos is a beautiful place and Uma Casa A Beira Sol was a lovely place to stay. The 2 young woman who own the place were so accommodating. The Casa is really like a home with lots of little but comfortable cottages attached to each other. The little gardens and unique plantings all over the property make it lovely to look at and interesting to visit. It was almost like you wanted to see what was around the next corner. I would recommend this home to anyone visiting Lagos. The hotel was a distance to the town, but the walk was not bad. Probably about a mile or more.
Renew and Relax at the A Beira-Sol
This is a wonderfully funky accommodation with a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere in the midst of a beautiful garden setting. The staff were unbelievable in their gracious attention to our needs.
Simply wonderful, family feel
This is a wonderful place to stay, I would like to go back for a month. The ambiance is like being at home, only better. The staff, breakfast, rooms and grounds are all beautiful. What a little slice of heaven. You can walk to the beaches that others have to drive to and still feels very remote and private. Wish I had been on my honeymoon.

Wonderful Relaxing Vibe
This is a beautiful boutique hotel with a bohemian vibe. The property is quaint with several outside sitting areas. Rooms all have an outdoor sitting area too. It’s a 10 minute walk to the city centre wall and there’s a beautiful walking trail along the water. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included with our room (not included with the apartments) and it was plentiful. Definitely recommend this hotel for a quiet retreat away from hectic life styles.
