Lovely building and excellent proprietors. Would visit again.
Good location and view of the sea and sunsets. Owners and staff very accommodating. Building is uniquely charming but is in need of some refurbishment.
Loved it, hotel has a little bit of magic to it, stunning views, staff exceptional, breakfast was superb, evening meal perfect and loved the historic charm, nothing too much trouble thank you for a great weekend
Very nice staff only stayed overnight but will definitely visit again
Quirky with great views
Very nice location
Wonderful view out to sea, lovely staff and absolutely perfectly cooked breakfast. Hotel location is about 15min walk from centre of town and up a hill although there is a bus stop close by so it would not be hard to take a bus instead of walking.
Ticks all the boxes !
Lovely old fashioned hotel in a great position for incredible sweeping sea views and also proximity to Barmouth ( 15 min walk). Owners can’t do enough to ensure you enjoy stay without being over the top. Room was very comfortable and breakfast was tasty. Bar/ conservatory is a lively place for a pre dinner drink.
Quirky hotel
A lovely place to stay close to Barmouth. The hotel is quirky inside with victorian features. It’s very clean and comfortable 👌. The host is very welcoming and serves a delicious breakfast. The views from the breakfast room are amazing! Would highly recommend for a visit to Barmouth and surrounding area.
The property was great well looked after built 1892 features were great the staff very welcoming and helpful very clean.had a lovely stay would visit again.outlook views superb
It has great view of the sea. Staff friendly.
Good place to stay in a fantastic location
Lovely overnight stay here. We ate in the restaurant and the food was first class. Nothing fancy, just simple food, generous portions, cooked fresh tasted delicious. Breakfast was excellent too. Service also excellent. Only reason for 4* for comfort was because the mattress was too hard for our liking - but this is purely a subjective view. We would stay here again.
Nice stay - fab building .
Lovely place , lovely lady at reception. Had a lovely meal . Waiter wasn’t very friendly but other than it was fab .
Really lovely stay, great location, the seaview was stunning.
Views were great
Wonderful 4 night stay.
The hotel is lovely. It is a very old building but in the best location overlooking a vast expanse of the beaches and Cardigan bay. The owners Mike and Trudy are a lovely friendly couple who go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. We also have to mention Victor who made us laugh every night in the restaurant. We came home after a 4 night stay feeling that we had made friends who we hope to see again next year.
Relaxing
One night only , would visit again . Breakfast was very good.
Very pleased with the service, excellent. Comfortable down stairs around the bar and dining area. Again service very professional. My only concern was the bedroom and bathroom are very small. Difficult to access and function and out of scale with the rest of hotel. Lovely views over bay.
Lovely stay, good room with sea view ,facilities were excellent, food excellent,Hosts very good, Would stay there again.
Lovely Stay
We had a lovely time. The room was cosy and the beds were really comfortable. Breakfast was top notch. Will definitely stay again .
Very pleasant
Lovely spot very welcoming highly recommended
Very nice.
Great views very friendly and excellent staff,Mike and Trudy are very good hosts good menu and food, nice clean hotel.
Good breakfast. OK location, beach within 10 mins. The single room was basic but did have a good TV in there, the shower had seen better days. Friendly staff.
Really friendly welcome and throughout our stay. Made to feel really comfortable. The room was amazing, with seaviews. Restaurant was relaxing and the food really good. Including the breakfast. Great location for exploring the area and only a short walk into Barmouth.
Loved it
Excellent dinner and breakfast. Stunning views. Clean comfortable room.
Stay at Tyr Graig Castle
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The decor may be dated for some but we thought it was impressive & was kept clean. They’ve kept it true to its history. The view from our balcony was stunning. Being able to sit & relax & watch the sunset was a memory we will cherish. The room & en-suite were small but plenty for what we needed, which was just a base in which to go explore from. The staff were very welcoming & couldn’t do enough for us. The breakfast & evening meals were lovely. We cannot recommend this place highly enough. We will most definitely be visiting again, and again.
Tyr Graig good choice.
Great hotel on the outskirts of Barmouth. Quirky, with lots of carved wood and panelling. Service excellent, cleanliness good. All staff very friendly.Had three evening meals, all good and very reasonably priced. Cooked breakfast good, adequate cold buffet. Would certainly return.
Fantastic views!
Pleasantly unusual building with excellent sea views from the balcony of our bedroom. Excellent service by all the staff members, and my wife says the parmesan & truffle fries are to die for! :-)
Nice One-night Stay with Brilliant Sea Views
Nice one-night stay in room with brilliant sea views. Pleasant owners and staff, very good and plentiful breakfast too. Pub grub style evening meals nothing fancy, but tasty and good portions. Room fairly small but nicely decorated. Some of the communal areas retain attractive historic features, but some aspects are now just dated rather historic. A few areas where maintenance is needed, e.g. several blown glazing panels in the conservatory dining area and also some aspects of the car park and grounds. Overall, more 2 to 3 star rather than the 4 star but had a good time and would recommend and return.
Excellent view, great style of property, very warm service from staffs.
Perfect!!
Amazing couple of nights. Staff and owners very friendly. Food was amazing. Can't wait to come back.
The property is unique with an interesting history. The staff were friendly and helpful, decent large bath towels, oh what joy! Stunning views including the dolphins. Peaceful & quiet away from the bustle of town. Delicious meal, well maintained property. Not much choice for non alcoholic non fizzy drinks. No elderflower for instance.
Unbelievably position looking over the sea, accommodation and staff ok.
Unusual Victoria hotel high on the hillside above Barmouth and the sea. Splendid views out to sea and across the the Llŷn Peninsula. Loved our stay here.
Best View and Price
My boyfriend and I stayed for a night, it was such a lovely place, best price and good service.
Enjoyable visit
The hotel is rather tired, which is a shame because is is such an interesting building. We couldn’t understand why our bed in a turret room faced away from the sea (it didn’t look as if a lot of effort/cost would be required to turn it around). The cooked food we ate at breakfast and dinner was good quality. We enjoyed our stay.
We really liked this hotel as it was friendly and well run . The accommodation, food and cleanliness were wonderful
Lovely place
Wonderful place to stay, service outstanding. So friendly and welcoming. Will definitely return!
Great sun sets
Amazing views and the food was excellent both breakfast and the evening meals.
Barmouth trip
Enjoyable stay. Good breakfast .
Will return
Two nights in the top floor turret. View was well worth the stairs, the room was comfortable and clean. Our breakfast was good and the service excellent.
Lovely relaxing stay. Owners and staff were very accommodating felt relaxed in there presence. Breakfast good quality and well cooked with a lovely view to add to the experience 😊
Five Stars
Comfortable and good sized bedroom with beautiful view if Cardigan Bay Excellent food and wonderfully friendly and helpful staff Five Stars
This is an oldy world quirky hotel and this is to its advantage. The staff are very welcoming, the food was excellent and the view from the bedroom window was impressive. Great property, great value. Will definitely stay again when in the area.
Amazing sea views.Beautifully clean.Delicious breakfast.
Pleasant three day stay
A quirky hotel with spectacular views over Barmouth beech. Comfortable bedroom but bathroom small due to constraints of an old building but sufficient for us. Staff pleasant and helpful, breakfast good
Uncomfortable room but thumbs up for service
The hospitality was great received a very friendly service. The hotel was pretty from the outside but unfortunately inside needed a little tlc I can only speak for room 3 as that was the room we was in so i’m not able to speak for the other rooms. We just didn’t find the room comfortable although the view was amazing.
Staff very friendly. Service cant fault it. All was clean and comfortable
Property was quite dated but in a beautiful location!
What a lovely place
Faultess - wonderful everything- thank you
Could not fault the property we had a good sea view opening on a veranda we will be going back
Lovely historical building
Three day break for bank holiday
Welcoming friendly hosts. Room very cramped. Bathroom not comfortable with step to toilet. A bit disappointing
The hotel is about 15 minutes stroll from the beach, shops and restaurants. The room is very clean, tidy and spacious, the bed and pillows are very comfortable, staff is very friendly, definitely will be staying here again when I visit Barmouth.
Turret room views 🙃
Excellent stay again here. Lovely hotel
Beautiful views
Quirky hotel in excellent location for views over Cardigan bay. Hotel is an old residence and has plenty of character and original features. Room and bathroom werent the biggest, but was fine for the 2 of us.
The staff were friendly and very welcoming.
Quirky castle
Pleasant hotel. View of the hill. Could have done with a fan as it was so hot but it still was a enjoyable stay
Excellent castle stay
First class all round
Beautiful hotel with outstanding views
Lovely hotel set just out of Barmouth will lovely sea views. We stayed in the turret room which was outstanding. Service was great and the breakfast was excellent.
Great stay and super comfy bed
Room clean and tidy. Needs a lick of paint and black out curtains would be good. Breakfast was great, good choices available. Staff friendly and helpful. Bed super comfy.
Location fabulous, breakfast lovely
Extremely well positioned hotel which offers a great location with spectacular views out to sea and a short stroll into Barmouth! The Breakfast was very good with a good selection. We did not have our evening meal there, so cannot comm, although it looked pretty full the 2 nights we were there. Comfy beds, with sufficient facilities to keep you occupied if the weather turns.
Beautiful setting as advertised bathroom is small but made up with extra large fluffy towels. Food is excellent you need to bring your appetite as portions are large. Great walking path to the beach and town
Lovely historic hotel in a beautiful area of Wales.
Owners very friendly, nothing to much trouble. Fabulous view of sea front from terrace and bedroom. Relaxing area to sit and enjoy a drink.
Food excellent. Staff very polite and friendly. The hotel was oldey worldy but great. Only complaint was the mattress was to firm for me
Great time
Had a great time, staff outstanding food great . Lovely views from the room you can't go wrong
One Night Stay
We had a very pleasant stay at Twr Graig Castle. We stayed for one night on a Sunday to break a longer journey to the south of Wales. The hotel room was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. Breakfast was freshly cooked and very tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful. I’d recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again.
The view from one side of the hotel was wonderful, however not so. Hotel was tidy, breakfast was good, however the dinner menu needed cheering up. They said they had only been there 5 years, obviously been shut for two, so felt like they are just finding their way again. Busy which was good for them. Yes I would recommend the Castle.
Love it its a old hotel needs a little re decoration and a little clean up of cob webs. Beautiful setting food was great and service at breakfast good. Service at dinner was ok but we needed drinks and were never offered any which i found unusual. As the bar was incthe restaurant. In the end we had to ring the bell for a drink
A little tired looking but all part of the castle experience. Lovely breakfast and comfortable clean beds.
Lovely hotel
Stayed in a lovely turret room at the hotel, with views over the bay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is close enough to walk into town, so we left the car on the car park for the whole of our stay. Good breakfast, plenty of choice. Overall a great place to spend a few nights.
The owners were very helpful and friendly and very obliging.

We had a nice stay at this hotel; friendly staff, nice food, good sized bedroom and lovely views. We had a standard turret bedroom and whilst it was spacious, the en suite was really small and felt like a shower had been squeezed into a room that used to be a toilet room. There was no space to swing an earwig let alone a cat! The toilet had a cigarette burn on it and the lid on the plastic cistern didn’t fit on the tank. There were no towel rails and no comfortable space to get dry after a shower or get dressed. The state of the fixture and fittings in the en suite was dated and in need of updating. We DID have a nice stay at this hotel.
