Homeless in Jackson MI

Hotel messed up reservations and didn't call me before I arrived to find they had no rooms. Tried 4 other places with no luck. Ended up camping in my truck. Son and I ended up having a great time camping so I guess it wasn't all bad.

Booked a room online weeks ago. Got there to check in and was asked if someone from first shift called me. Told them no and was informed there had been a glitch and I in fact did not have a room. Was told to go to their sister hotel, about 9 minutes away.

Room was incredibly dirty and run down. Avoid this hotel!

Very bad

I went to check in and the front desk informed me that hotels.com over booked them and were no rooms available. Was very upsetting was tired and then had to rush around to find a place to stay.

The property looks like a rental building complex, BUT doesn't look like a Hotel, too many kids and adults just walking around, you can tell that they live there, they are not regular hotel guests. At check in, in the front desk the lady had kids coming in and out of her working area, you can tell they are her own children, and they live there. Once she finish with my check in, she call me "honey" we don't know each other, so inappropriate. I always check to see if the beds are clean, you can tell that the beds were not done by a housekeeper, look like somebody jump over the two beds because once you pull up the bedspread the sheets were all wrinkle, the pillows were flat and had a bed smell. The next day we get out by 9:00 am, we came back around 6:00 pm, the beds were not done, we had no shampoo, I had to go to the front desk to ask for shampoo! they empty only one garbage container, they left the other one with the garbage. One of the unsafe reasons I saw was that some people behavior, and in a Hotel you just don't see that. Definitely not a Hotel that I will recommend to anyone!

"Non smoking" but youe get smacked in the face with the smell of weed

Whole place smells like weed, its a cheap hotel. Lots of dangerous people stay there. Do not bring kids here. Lots of people loitering around.

It wasn't clean enough

This was probably one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. This place is a DUMP! the rooms weren’t even ready at 3pm for “check in” I checked in my room at 630pm. The tv did not work. I was disturb by housekeeping twice, after telling them I didn’t need service. The front desk staff is unprofessional. The manager just sits in his office not managing anything. I will never stay there again.

I like the friendliness of the staff, it was quite, other people staying there were friendly and helpful. It is located in a quite location. I felt safe and secure while staying there. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

I should prep this by saying I've stayed at this hotel a few dozen times in the past, as a child, as a teen, as a young adult, and now as an older adult. I've watched it go through some interesting changes. 20 years ago it was a scary hotel to stay at, but now its quite pleasant. The staff is friendly, english speaking people, the majority of people staying at the hotel for an extended period seem to be working class folks in transition between places to live or simply on the road working.

Very friendly staff and clean room

Without an elevator it was difficult for me to get up and down. The highway was noisy. The bathroom fixture handles were loose and the shower head came off. No tv guide or listing. The food and lounge was very nice. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable.

Well I booked me a room with a king bed on Monday and on Saturday morning (the day of my reservation) they texted me and said they didn't have my room anymore. By the time I was able to get back with them they already cancelled my reservation. SMH

This hotel is relatively inexpensive but somewhat run down. Our check in experience was poor as we hit a dysfunctional shift change.

Very pleasant stay

The room i was assigned had a damaged door, the sink was not emptying which is extremely unsanitary, the refrigerator was chirping like a cricket, I didn't enjoy my room!!

Not greatest place to stay.

Very outdated. Fitted sheet didn’t fit in bed so struggle with loose sheet all night, window air conditioner unit in wall unfinished trim around it, coffee and tea condiments in room but no coffee maker, people smoking pot on floor seeps into rooms. Lots of people hanging around outside at night. Had to wait for front desk person while she was outside taking a break.

Good, economic and convenience place to stay for a night

Decent stay

The staff was very friendly. However, the place was very dirty from the hallways to the actual room itself. The room smelled like cigarettes and the walls/vents had what appeared to look like black mold.

Room itself was cozy. Nice bed and pillow. So the stay was nice overall! But I will say the general layout is quite outdated. Also the bathrooms could use some updating. Really just aesthetic things; it appeared to be in working order. No control of HVAC in my room, but fortunately it wasn’t hot weather.

Room and hallway smelled like smoke and weed, dirty carpets, the shower was so nasty that I left my contacts out so I couldn't see, grout was moldy, awful TV reception, and if you don't answer their call on a race weekend, they cancel your room.

Michigan Nascar Race weekend

Loved the balcony. Friendly staff. Need to clean the pool and add chlorine it was pretty cloudy and we have an inground pool so we know. Because of that we did not go swimming although we wanted to.

My husband was the one who went there with his family members to go to MIS to watch nascar and he came home with so many stories of how unsafe it was and he keep useing the word it was like a circus there and like he was on a episode of cops. You had people running from the cops right in front of you, ppl live at the hotel and ppl doing meth. It was so crazy and my son was there I felt horrible sending them there after hearing everything that happened.

Definitely was not the place to stay

Jacuzzi didn’t work, toilet kept plugging up. Bed was comfortable and room was clean

The property looks nothing like the pictures. It’s a mess. It’s dirty and in disrepair. The biggest turn off was the guy openly smoking pot just around the corner of the building from the office. We left!

Their grill is excellent and the staff friendly. Other than that, the ground-floor room we were in had light coming in around the door frame, a couple of burned out overhead lights and no exhaust fan in the bathroom. They advertised a continental breakfast, but there wasn't one, just coffee.

Just have an overall good experience every time I visit.

Rooms were hot and the air conditioner barely worked. Windows were sealed so you couldnt open them. Pool water was brown. People hanging around everywhere smoking, as if they might live there permanently? We left after a couple hours and went elsewhere even though we knew we would still have to pay for the room. Thats how bad it was. Considering staying there? Just don’t….

Upon entering tbe room there was a cup with half drank coffee in it, the soap at the sink was open and used, the bathroom was extremely dirty and not well kept. Someone was smoking marijuana very close the room i was in and the smell was extremely strong, almost unbearable in the hallway. The room also had a strong musty smell, garbage was still in the trash cans

The property was really nice and clean and would definitely book again!

Room somewhat clean. Bath tub looked dirty, jacuzzi broken and unusable. Room facing highway so noisy. Hall carpets dirty. Weird smell in hotel. Long-term renters. Pool not full enough. full garbage bag left in hall at the next rooms door all day/night. Safe was silicone shut.

Room was not the cleanest... mold and dirt in the corners of bathroom. Paint pealing off of ceiling over the bed. Other signs of water damage .

Young lady at the desk Stephanie was Excellent!! She was the only good part of the property. Pleas make sure her boss knows she is excellent. Carpets were sticky from dirty. Someone had all their belongings in the hallway. Room connected was smoking meth. Just licked myself in the room.

Watch for flying bugs!

I don't know what kind of bug it was, but it was through out the bathroom and bedroom areas. It was small, didn't bite, just was annoying. The tub/shower could use a good scrubbing to clean between the tiles. Carpet in hallway and room is rather outdated.

Absolutely the worst experience at a hotel that I have ever had. It was rundown at first glance and not at all with the picture show. It was obvious that It was a dive. The room Smelled so bad of mildew and mold when we first entered that it was overwhelming. The AC did not work, the halls were very dirty, and the air of the place was absolutely not what they portray online. I would stay far far away from this location.

This property was just GROSS. One of the dirtiest places I have ever been in. We called ahead and were told the pool closed at 10 p.m. Promptly, at 9 p.m. one of the workers started YELLING that all kids needed to get out that it was time for adult swim only. There were no adults trying to swim! The entire place stunk! We would never return.

They have good customer service, but you hear everything throughout the night from the road, and the beds are uncomfortable.

You get what you pay for. I did not know they rent rooms by the week here. got here after 5 so I couldn't cancel without being charged. If I had arrived before 5 and could have cancelled I would have done so. tub clogged, plunger by front door as we walked in. rooms are dated and not the cleanest. courtyard area filled with sketchy folks that apparently live there. I won't be back.

They cancelled my reservation an hour to my check-in time.

They called and said Our reservation was canceled by travelodge. Said they were over booked. Said too many reservation came in at one time. Very disappointed.

Paid room given away

I made my paid reservation online thru Hotels.com @8pm. When I arrived to check in a little after 1am, there were two customers ahead of me. When the second customer was being helped I overheard them say that they did not have a reservation and was finally "lucky" to get a room. When it came time for me to check in, the desk clerk saw my reservation and looked puzzled. She stated that I should not have been able to pay for a room online. The clerk advised me that they did not have anymore rooms available and the customers ahead of me had been waiting for two hours to get into a room.....even though I paid for my room over 4 hours in advance. It was very inconvenient and disappointing that I had to leave and find another room so late in the eveing. In my opinion I think they give away paid reserved rooms hoping that a customer will not show up so that they can double the profits.

I recieved a call at 1pm after driving 400 miles. The hotel person told me that they did not have a room for me. When i asked what i was supposed to do....i was told that i might try some other places in jackson. I also asked about a refund on my room and they told me i would have to conact expedia. I will never book at this place again. Ended up at tru.....where i normally stay. Great property.

Well for one our never stayed there they said they called and canceled our reservations and cuz they overbooked and we're not very happy about it reservation the cost said they called us and cancel it and they never called went all the way there paid over to take us over there and now we're out the money that we went over there that it cost us to take taken over and back and it weren't very happy because we wanted to spend some time together me and my fiance

The Travellodge exceeded my expectations!! For a budget friendly hotel it's one of the best.. Always friendly and helpful staff!! The room was neat, clean and with what i believe are new linens and towels.. Definitely my 1st choice for future stays!!

Since the room ended up being up stairs and they had no others, they were EXCELLENT! The owner went above all to make it workable and wonderful and I’ll just say, I’d stay here again in a heartbeat! The staff were super friendly and helpful and I am VERY THANKFUL! God is so good to me and used these folks to be a real blessing!

The idea that I have to give a $25.00 deposit to be sure we didn’t steal a towel or washcloth or have smoked in room. I have never been asked to give a deposit after I have paid for room in full. Also when I checked out I had to wait for someone to go and check to be sure nothing was missing

The shower in the room did not work. Staff in premise offered shower from nearby room, so somehow managed for 1 night stay. Will request property management to check for working condition of basic amenities like shower before letting customer check in.

The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean. The hallways smelled of Marijuana so strongly i felt woozy. I would go back if i dont have to smell pot being smoked all the time.

Great staff

I first got to the hotel at 6 pm with my 1 year and 4 year old. I was told I had to pay a deposit fee I was unaware of. Since I booked over Expedia. I had to cancel one of the nights I was going to stay to use for the deposit. They also pointed in the wrong direction of where our room was and I had to go around looking for at least an hour.i went to check out and I guess the manager of the store was singing and dancing and was completely ignoring me. I was standing there for a while until I addressed her and asked if she was busy since she was sitting at the desk singing and dancing… I was then later told that because my hair color stained the towels they would be keeping my deposit. Many people have colored hair and I have never had a problem with it before since it’s come right out with bleach and they have white towels for that reason. Anyways I was not happy about any of it.

Took forever to get someone to check us cuz they were outside smokin. Then they wanted a deposit which they take off instantly but takes up to 5-7 days to get it back

Security deposit scammers!!! Be ware.

Hotel was outdated and worn down but fine for the price. Biggest issue was not getting my security deposit back.

Very good service from the staff, decent amenities; clean room, comfortable bed, eatery and bar in the hotel, and overall excellent value, with the only drawbacks being the lack of an elevator and the hotel's location very close to an interstate where vehicle traffic can be heard

Smell of room. Shower clogged up Saturday morning still there after we left Sunday morning. Told staff. But nothing was done while we were there, couldn't take shower Sunday morning. Stayed there before and was good but it's really was a bad stay. Get home and i have bite marks all over me.

Its a dirty hotel without a coffeemaker in my room, when you pay $60 for a room, this is what you get, dirty room, no coffee maker, and people sitting outside their room, you get the idea...

My stay was pleasant and the room was better than I expected due to a recent renovation. The hotel is in a location that worked well for me. It took an extra phone call to get the $50 security deposit credited back to my account, but the hotel staff was polite and friendly and helped remove the fee from my credit card.

The Wi-Fi sucked had to go to buffalo wild wings to get Wi-Fi. never saw an ice machine :( you have to pay a 50 buck safety deposit. be warned !

It was ok

Staff likes to over share a bit- and it felt more like renting a room from an outdated low income apartment complex for a night- but the room seemed clean. The price was low, so expectations were set low also.
