There were significant issues with the room. Toilet had to be fixed twice in our less than 48 hour visit. WiFi didn’t reach the room and the hotel was unable to address the issue. Breakfast was fine. I would recommend against this property - it is hostel quality at luxury prices. This is barely a 3 star hotel.
Friendly staff. Good food. Great views of the Nile. Nice amenities. AC too loud.
Expedia really let us down this time. We paid around $288 per night for this hotel thinking it was a great place. Hotel should be rated a two star hotel max. Very old, depressing, main lights in the room didn’t work, staff seemed sad, food was terrible, etc. Felt like we were in an isolated asylum and we were probably the only ones staying there. So disappointing.
Tavsiye etmiyorum.
Hotel with a good intention
We had a good experience at this hotel. We only stayed for one night. Service was good but not excellent. Signaling to get to places was poor. Many of the staff members would not speak English and even though most of they tried to assist they were not properly trained or did not know themselves how to help. Our was upgraded to one of the VIP villages next to the nile and the room had ample space and a magnificent view to the pool and the Nile. The room however was not very clean. The sofa had not been vacuumed properly. The TV remote controller had a leather case that was worned out looking old and dirty. We were offered complementary fruits. Overall our experience was not bad and it was a positive one but attention to details would improve the experience of the guests. I have to mention that we visited the shops in the hotel. The jewelry store an some beautiful items at a very fair price. The young man at the store was very pasive and not pushy as most salesman. We also bought a bag and other items at the other store (in front of the jewelry store). We are very happy with the products we purchased. Good quality and fair price.
the property could not take credit card to check out. we had a trip planned at 5:30am and waited for an hour. in the end we had to pay cash. this hotel is the worst among all Egyptian hotels we stayed in. not clean, and the shower water is either too hot or too cold and change irregularly. no way to have a good shower after a long hot day.
Property is old yet nice. You can tell at one point of time this hotel was great! Hotel need some upgrades overall nice for a night.
This is a perfect place for tourist. Room is big , clean , staff is friendly and the breakfast bag for next days’ trip is prepared well
Property was gorgeous with the Nile suites very spacious, next to the pool, and next to the river. Great sunset views! The event center was fun with bowling, billiards, and other games. Had three issues: (1) Room service food and quality of service were not good. Main issue was the lack of English-speaking ability among the staff resulting in messing up my order multiple times. Also, the meat was always overcooked and quite dry. (2) Wi-Fi did not work while we were there as they said they were updating the system. (3) Hot water in the shower was not consistently available. With all that said, I would still go back as the property was beautiful and service was friendly.
Good 👍
First we travel a lot. We generally give great reviews. This property was once a jewel but the room we stayed in which was supposedly an upgrade was in acrosels the street on the Nile. I would have been spectacular but the room was tired..rust on faucets corners of the shower were black with age ot possibly mold. My wide could not sleep on the rock of a maitress. Reception area is beautiful the staff were wonderful and breakfast was really well done. Great vistas from the breakfast deck the main hotel seems really spectacular. Dont pay extrs to do across the street it sucks.
Perfectly good hotel
Perfectly good hotel - clean, good wifi, handy position, large rooms and great breakfast. No complaints at all
The hotel was right next to the ship we had to get onto which was really convenient however, the room we stayed in could have been a little more cleaner. The staff were great until we had to get a taxi driver to take us to the unfinished obelisk where we were scammed by the driver. I thought by getting the concierge to get us the drive would have helped us get a reasonably priced driver not $40
No internet no staff long distance between rooms and Resturant
The hotel looks beautiful outside and is on the Nile River. Convenient if you are taking a River Cruise. The room was very dated, curtains were falling off the room window, TV didn’t work well lots of static, and the beds were very hard and uncomfortable. We did have a little villa by the pool with a. Ice view of the pool and Nile.
Great Location
Loved the view from the hotel. It was beautiful to overlook the River Nile.
This is NOT a 5 star property. The rooms are like a 2 star La Quinta in the US. I would stay at a holiday inn any day over this place. The room was dated, bathroom was gross and leaking and the only positive was the view and the service of the staff. Do not waste your money.
Room was very nice overlooking a beautiful pool. Front Desk Staff was just excellent in helping me resolve an issue unrelated to the Hotel.
Very friendly and great service. Excellent location and views
A tired old lady way past its prime
THis hotel reminds me of a 60+ year old primadona...she was once the star, but is now just a heavily painted old lady with many visible lines. The room is spacious, but tired, with old uncomfortable mattresses and a tired rest room. Internet did NOT work...and front office just stated that as a fact, with no other ecorse, but to go to the lobby for a very slow, almost unusable option. For the price, this was not at all what one would expect or accept in Europe, developed Asia or North America.
Great location and clean with very good restaurant
Clean big hotel. Pool closes at 6 so did not get to use unfortunately but was one of the reasons I chose property. All the pools in Egypt seem to close early for some reason. Just one night.
Beautiful stay, the staff was friendly and very helpful. Airport shuttle was prompt and kind. We will be staying here again next time we visit Aswan
Property was clean but dated.
Not a bad place to hang your hat while you explore Aswan. The hotel is big and feels unoccupied. Not much to do besides sleep. No A/C in the common areas. The staff was courteous and friendly. Food is at par with this part of the country.
We loved the stay. We were upgraded to a large suite overlooking the pool and the nile. Staff was super nice and the restaurant was an exceptional value with excellent food.
Delightful hotel.
This is the second time I have visited Tolip Aswan Hotel and I can’t say enough wonderful things about this hotel. I travel from Malibu, California and it is worth the trip. Wonderful, warm staff that make you feel very special. I highly recommend this hotel.
Fine choice
A little dated but still nice. Service was good. Breakfast was good. Location is good as far as Aswan goes. Good value for the money if you want an upscale but not luxury hotel.
Great Option Mid Range Hotel with Breakfast
Our check in was taken care of quickly, we stayed down in the bungalows by the pool. It is a hike to the main hotel, but we loved the quiet rooms next to the Nile. Breakfast was included in the room which was fantastic. The hotel is dated, and the tv small but the room service is cheap and fast. The rooms were large and clean- just be careful of the balcony sliding door, if you close it when you are outside you get locked out. The staff was great but their secret weapon is the concierge Monica, she is amazing and helped handle our travel reservations for tours and our Nile Cruise. Always ask for Monica, she is fantastic!!!!
Best place to stay in Aswan
Amazing
Great place to stay at
Everything went well. The reception was very helpful and the staff. The view is amazing from the hotel
Underrated lovely hotel in heart of Aswan
Great staff. Lovely view.
Excellent atmosphere with very nice view. staff were very helpful, smiles, and doing their tasks in professional way. Thanks to Tolip team , Specially Mohammad. Shyma and Mona. see you next trip.
Nice and friendly staff. Room is spacious and had a great view. Water pressure in the shower was really low. Overall a good stay for me.
Pleasant place to stay at, staff were extremely friendly and accommodating.
Very Convenient Hotel with a Great Location
Our stay was very comfortable. We had a room with a spectacular view of the Nile. The hotel's location is perfect. Breakfast was served in the room because of Covid 19. Breakfast was great.
Beautiful lobby and spacious rooms. Slightly limited in menu items and cuisine was mediocre but healthy and clean
Lovely place
Lovely city nice people and very good location hotel
Outstanding. I would highly recommend it Great Dinner menu. Great manager of the Restaurant
The entrance lobby and glass elevator were impressive. Our room was spacious and clean however it was worn and dated. The
Can be better
Good location, good service,. Descent breakfast but they fell way short on the picnic breakfast. They put on a big spread for breakfast buffet but lack basic items in the take away breakfast. Hard to understand why. Bathroom toilet was dirty and had stains in it.
The hotel is nice but a bit dated and needs some repair and renovations. Our toilet needed to be repair multiple times, and eventually the next day we asked to be moved to another room, which they did do for us and placed us in a room nearer to the pool at our request. The rooms are quite big and have a living room and table, and a small fridge, but no glasses or any other utensils, or plates. The pool area is overlooking the Nile and is beautiful. Overall a good two night stay!
Location is good. The room turned out to be a suite but needs a lot of updating specially the bathrooms need to be redone. The hotel in general needs to be updated. Breakfast buffet was just below standard.
EXPEDIA IS DECEIVING ITS CUSTOMERS BY CATEGORISING THIS HOTEL AS FIVE STARS.IT CAN BARELY MAKE IT AS A THREE & HALF!!!!! TOOK A CHANCE TO BOOK HERE AFTER NO AVAILABILITY AT SOFITEL & MOVENPICK BUT WERE WE EVER DISAPPOINTED! CURTAINS WERE DIRTY &TORN,RERIGERATOR WAS IN NEED OF PROPER CLEANING/NEEDED A BULB,HAD TO REQUEST A BASIC AMENITY LIKE A KETTLE,PATIO FURNITURE DIRTY &STAINED,HEATING SYSTEM NON-FUNCTIONING & HAD TO BE SERVICED, ETC.BATHROOM DOOR & CUPBOARDS ARE OLD & FALLING APART!THIS HOTEL IS IN SERIOUS NEED OF REPAIR,REMODELLING & REFURBISHING!!PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE DEPLORABLE CONDITIONS!!! WE ONLY STAYED FOR 2 NIGHTS SO WE ENDURED IT.IT WAS A HELL(NAN) OF A STAY!!
Worst hotel I have stayed in in a very long time. Room was not ready but they didn’t say so and just asked us to wait which took an hour and half even though I asked how long as we could go out and come back. We gave up waiting after an additional half hour for our luggage and went and got it ourselves. On check out we were already getting into cab before they offered to help with luggage. Check staff not at all welcoming, every question sent us to a different desk and no answers even to how much a taxi should cost. They were not helpful at all about questions for finding a restaurant for dinner but just wNted to sell us their gala package Toilet was leaking in bathroom resulting in wet floor. Beds were so uncomfortable that I considered sleeping on the floor. This is barely a two star hotel. Extremely disappointed in Expedia rating. You should know better. We stayed in several Expedia hotels on out trip and this is the only one that made no sense.
Not very clean and poorly maintained, and limited amenities. It’s not worth five stars. In my opinion, for the slight difference in price, visitors in Aswan are better off at another hotel even if it will cost a little more.
The person at the tour desk who's name escapes me was incredibly helpful. He was able to arrange two days worth of activities for me on very short notice.
I got a room on the second floor by the pool which was horrible. As soon as I checked in the room I called to front desk and tried to have them put me back inside the main building, and was told that there were no room available in the main building. The room is not that clean. The bathroom lights too dim, no space to put my personal stuff. The curtain is dirty and the glass door to the balcony is broken. I could hear the music playing downstairs and the traffic. The door faced to the street where the taxi were. I ate at the restaurant twice, one dinner. A breakfast which was included to the package. Both buffet and food was horrible. Two things edible were bread and omelet. I was sitting at the bar one night, staff were very friendly though. Wifi is horrible. Dont' even bother if you got a sim card.
Need to have these amenities
There is no internet available in the rooms and there are no USB chargers
This is an excellent choice for a hotel in Aswan. There was a slight problem with the number of people requested for the on the pull down menu through the site and we needed to resolve the issue with a roll away bed. Our guide was able to interpret and tried to explain what happened. The hotel was extremely accommodating and did provide us with an extra bed that was amazingly comfortable. We also had an early morning for a tour and they happily provided us with nice breakfast boxes. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
Great location in Aswan. Great breakfast buffet. Rooms are a little dated but spacious. Great deal for the price.
Great stay at Helnan
The staff were great and the hotel exceed or expectations. Considering the state of tourism in Egypt in the recent past, this hotel is maintained very well.
No wifi in rooms means never again.
No wi-fi in the rooms is a serious flaw and reason I would never stay here again. You are forced to work in the lobby which plays the same, endless loop of monotone muzak that drives you nearly insane. Dinner at the restaurant was fine and affordable.
Nice hotel overlooking the Nile
Great hotel overlooking the Nile. It’s far from town, however, we were able to talk taxi drivers to take us into town for 15-20 EGP (less than 1 dollar)!
Such a disappointment
I chose this hotel over the Movenpick because it was on the Corniche. What a huge mistake. The hotel is quite a walk from town so one needs to take a taxi or run the gauntlet of the caleches. The best things about the hotel were the cheery porters and the view from the room. The room was clean unlike most of the rest of the hotel but we had to ask for water when we arrived. The worst thing about it was the food which meant that one had to eat out. On my first day I decided to have lunch on the terrace and was somewhat shocked to find that all the tablecloths had stains and holes in them. (Around the pool area too there was glass left on the ground and the tables were dirty.) My soup and pasta were brought at the same time - not okay. The soup was passable but the pasta was inedible. The only other time we ordered food was at the pool. It arrived an hour later. For the first two days there was no expresso coffee. I think I shamed them into getting some more. Very few of the staff spoke any English. This hotel may be okay if you are just spending one night but if it is any longer do yourself a favour and stay at the Movenpick.
Nice hotel with views on Noble Tumbs and Nile
Stayed at one of the units near the front pool (next to Nile). Staff there was great. Breakfast buffet was great. I was disappointed that after a long day of site seeing I could not get in the pool. They close the pool too early for maintenance (~ 5 pm). That's a bit early considering there was plenty of sun and temps still in the high 30s(C).
Aswan Helnan, excellent stay.
The hotel and grounds were beautiful. Excellent view of the Nile. Our original room was in the main building with a balcony and Nile view. We saw there were some additional rooms close to the swimming pool (which was across the street, but you can cross via the tunnel) and checked to see if we could move. We were willing to pay the price difference, but the Manager accommodated the request with no additional charges. It was an excellent Hotel and the Staff was exceptional.
Would recommend
Very good stay
Great Time At the Helnan Aswan
The hotel is beautiful and has a GREAT breakfast buffet. Best of all, the hotel gave me a free upgrade to a Nile-front suite. It was a huge room with a huge balcony overlooking the pool and the Nile. Totally fantastic. The staff is very (very) friendly.
Amazing Experience In Helnan Aswan
Amazingly great. They gave me an upgraded suite on the river, and it was one of the best hotel rooms and hotel experiences I have ever enjoyed. The staff was more than accommodating including specifically the reception staff, the porter, and the restaurant staff. The breakfast buffet was stunning. The hotel lobby (as are the rooms) is beautiful. The WI-FI in the lobby and the rooms was excellent. I expect to return to Egypt and will certainly use the Helnan chain in other cities as well as Aswan.
5 Star hotel.
This hotel is 5 Star hotel and staff is good.
A breath of fresh air in smoggy Cairo!
Another visit, this time for two short stays and, for me, a ‘home from home’. Whilst a busy hotel, it is still possible to find quiet and peace within its environment. An excellent experience, as always, and up to the expected standards for this type of hotel. Customer Service was top class and staff were prepared to go beyond what I expected. Spotlessly clean, good decoration, Bank, ATM, Swimming Pool, free Airport Shuttle (15 minutes), Health Club, 6 restaurants and a Shop were amongst the features of this large hotel. Whilst several staff members stood out for their warmth and ready willingness to help, Randa (Le Marquis) remembered me from 6 months back and provided the same proactive and first-class service that I clearly recall from my previous visit. That is a true measure of the high quality attributes demonstrated by the hotel's smart and enthusiastic staff. Thank you for another great stay and please convey my thanks to your team.
Great place but require minor tweaks !!
Great place, highly recommend it to first time visitors. Staff very helpful specially duty manager mr Amir. The only item which requires attention is the canteen in the morning and food room service. In the morning quality of food not that great and the choice is not that great either, very limited. Also, canteen staff seem to be more occupied with the Egyption resodent rather than the tourist, this is a personnel observation only. Hope the hotel management improve on this item, as this is a great place and would be more than happy to stay there again
Very good
I think it is avery good hotel regading place and facilties
Beautiful view of the Nile
The lobby is beautiful and grand, but the hotel itself needs improvement. They have painted in places but put no protection down so the paint is all over the tile and woodwork. The paint on the walls in the hotel rooms were not fresh. The walls were dirty and the bathroom was not clean. There were hairs on the floor. I did not want to use the shower. On the plus side the bedding was clean but there were holes in the sheets. The bed was comfortable.
fantastic views
tremendous views of Nile and desert overrode all other considerations.having to buy bottled water everyday and distance from town became insignificant, otherwise facilities very good, helpful staff arranging trips.
Great view!
Excellent view, the staff was very helpful, and they have one of the greatest restaurants I tried in Egypt
Not to be fooled by the 5* Rating
A large hotel nestling next to the Nile, rooms have their own balcony on which one can relax and gaze at the stunning views over the river and towards the desert. Spacious, clean and within walking distance (without suitcase) of the railway station and souk/shops, it is ideally situated. Depending on traffic, a taxi to either the High Dam or airport takes between 30 and 45 minutes. Beware of their claim to be a ‘5* hotel’: I requested a non-smoking room but was given a smoking room albeit that the nicotine aroma had not lingered; there were no tea/coffee facilities in the room; no iron/ironing board facility for rooms (one has to use the laundry facility at cost); no ATM in the hotel or close-by; and it was challenging to elicit either a smile or warm welcome from the female receptionist and male barman.
Not clean room
Room has some strange smell and wifi was not able at the room. Swimming pool is far from the room. Food is so salty.
Overwhelming Stench
The Helnan Aswan Hotel is a reasonably priced hotel on the north side of Aswan. It's located lightly away from the center of the city which requires a 10-15 minute walk to reach. The interior and upkeep of the hotel was OK. The hotel has a major problem in that it's close to a sewage pipe that dumps effluence into the Nile. We were woken up at 3AM by the foul smell of sewage which was pumped via the air conditioning vents directly into the room. Although we had already paid for two nights, there was no way we would endure another night of stench. Two local guides told us the following day that Aswan residents have complained repeatedly about the sewage but the municipal government has refused to act. Recommendation: don't stay at the Helnan.
.
