Cheaper than some other Tivoli hotels . . . The buffet dinner and breakfasts were “regular” in quality. But adequate. Good place to stay!
Stay somewhere Else!
We booked a double room 6months ago. We got a twin, desk said it was an upgrade. We said we want a double not an upgrade. They said it would be more per night. They said bed size went on availability?? Never happened before. Did it to my friends as well. We seen another couple checking in the next day and they did it to them. Bait and switch. So it cost us more for the stay. For something we originally booked. I would not recommend this hotel.
Really loved this hotel. Not nearly enough time here. Good check in and checkout experience - friendly and professional staff. Great dinner and breakfast. Fantastic manager last night at the dinner buffet. We had a great conversation about Sevilla, Marrakech and about how amazing Portuguese food is. Sorry not to be able to say goodbye as we left early but we'll be back. Amazing service at dinner and breakfast in the buffet area from the young, new Brazilian waiter. So friendly, so efficient and so quick! Delighted with this hotel resort and we loved the room too. Can't wait to return.
The hotel was a bit large and rambling. Small overused elevator so people were expected to use stairs. This was difficult for my husband who has a disability. Wish I would have known before. Breakfast was wonderful. Lots of retirees stay there.
Lovely hotel. Needs a bit of landscape maintenance and cleaning.
Lovely stay in a chic hotel!
Just Alright
After being shown to a room with two twin beds instead of a queen, we found some ants crawling around the floor. Not the end of the world. But of all the hotels we stayed in on our trip around Portugal, the staff here seemed the most disinterested in their guests. It was our first time in the Algarve, and we left the otherwise beautiful region feeling underwhelmed with our accommodations. The resort itself feels outdated and like you’re on a cruise ship.
Great showers, pool, sauna, gym. Needs a little TLC. The breakfast buffet is fantastic. We had pizza for dinner at their restaurant. It was GREAT! The room doors are very light and you hear everything in the hallway. Pillows were too firm - I couldn’t get very comfortable but the bed was nice.
Lovely break
On arrival the receptionist was very helpful I had previously emailed the hotel to query having a kettle in the room. I paid the upgrade rate and this quickly became good value as my daughter and I thrive on cups of tea. We enjoyed the breakfast and were impressed by the choice and quality. The hotel had a relaxed ambiance. My granddaughter enjoyed the heated indoor swimming pool.
I stayed for 6 days in the this hotel with a mate of mine and we really liked it and was so surprised with it in a good way! Loved the gym and the pool was so nice , breakfast was very decent too , comfy bed nice room so clean and tidy aswell. The staff were so helpful and even gave us a tour when we arrived.
great place and central location to city
We really enjoyed our stay. We have been here before and we will definitely be back.
Great hotel, very nice location, with very nice breakfast
This property checked all our boxes and had an amazing buffet breakfast! What I was not impressed with was if you wanted to take ice back to the room they wanted to charge you 5 euros for a glass of ice. The one female bartender was extremely rude when we asked her about ice-it would have been better if she just explained politely. The male bartender was much more friendly.
Overall a great place to stay!!
Very helpful friendly staff. The hotel was on an excellent position with every facility we needed. Would definitely return
Five star for all the above
Enjoyable and very clean, excellent breakfast.
Worth it for the breakfast!!
Booked a family room which worked in the end. Initially, the room had two cots but housekeeping then adjusted the room to sleep four of us. Buffet breakfast was excellent!!
I loved everything about this hotel! It is beautifully decorated, conveniently located, and provides easy access to local dining, shopping, and cultural attractions. During our two-week trip through Portugal, staying in five different cities, this hotel was by far our favorite.
Pleasant
Good value for money. Highly recommend
Convenient location close to the marina/promenade. Clean room with excellent breakfast. Parking available inside the hotel for a fee. Would def consider a revisit.
Need update.
All of the Spa facilities were out of order, which was the reason for booking :( Other than that a really great trip and stay, with a great breakfast buffet :)
Terrific Tivoli
The Tivoli in Lagos is wonderful. The staff could not be more helpful and welcoming. The food is plentiful and of high quality. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and comfortable. The hotel is only a short walk from the marina, as indeed is everything else you could possibly want including shops, bars, restaurants and public transport. Highly recommended.
Big bpreakfast buffet.bed.snd balcony and bathroom free coffee tea and bottle water Place is beautifully shabby chic.Love it.Stayed 3 nights longer than planned!
The hotel is great; very quiet area. Breakfast is excellent! The hotel is downtown and it’s an amazing, beautiful town for walking around.
The hotel/resort was stunning...first time staying with Tivoli and definitely planning on staying in their other locations again for my return to Portugal.
Perfect location
A pleasant stay.
Very clean and efficient staff. We were 11 ladies of mature age, we had difficulty finding our rooms, 1142, for example. We wandered along corridors, up and down stairs, not easy! The indoor pool, sauna and Jacuzzi were excellent. The breakfast was varied, lots to choose from. The cooked bacon, and scrambled egg were overdone. The cheeses, ham etc were delicious as was the fruit. But, I would certainly stay here again, a great position in Lagos, just ten minutes from the shops, 20 minutes from the harbour front.
Very lovely hotel and close to the marina and old town. The bus station is nearby for convenient day trips.
Easy check-in and free parking. Our room was very spacious, clean and well decorated, however it looks like there was a prior break-in attempt judging from a severely damaged door and frame. Informed the front desk and they looked as baffled as they did when I asked where to buy a bottle of water for the room. Also no due safety latch. The bar service was slow and dinner buffet was on the weak side and not all items were labeled. The entertainer at the bar was excellent doing old favorites. Breakfast was included and variety was good.
Loved it but not ver disabled friendly.
Lovely hotel with good food and accommodation. The only down side we found it was not very disabled friendly. The only way to get to the indoor pool and spa area was down quite a few steps. Also the top step into the pool was quite deep so could prove difficult for disabled people to get out. Likewise the entry into the Jacuzzi. No hand rail into it, only on the steps leading to it and a very deep step in.
The hotel was okay. In line with what is generally found in the area. Facilities are a little bit older but were generally clean. The check-in experience was unpleasant due to a lack of organization and front desk staff seemed overwhelmed and was therefore not too nice.
Centrally located hotel
It's a beautiful hotel, just easy to get lost in because it's so big! They have a great complimentary breakfast with lots of choices. It's within walking distance to the main center of Lagos which was nice for being able to walk to dinner and go shopping.
One Day in Lagos
I loved the Tivoli. It was located close to everything, had great parking, friendly staff, and comfortable beds. Breakfast was great! Beautiful pool area too.
The superior double bed room (villa) was so old. The shower leaked water all over the bathroom and flooded the floors, the sink did not drain the water fast enough and started pooling. There was mold around the shower, the windows did not work properly and was unlocked, so it was unsafe. The housekeeping only came at 9am, when we were still in the unit, and did not return to clean and replace towels. The AC also did not work very well. Would not recommend staying at this hotel. Definitely not a 4 star hotel property.
Tivoli Is a well-maintained classic resort in the heart of Lagos. I believe it has been in operation for around 55 years. the renovated retro architecture of the common areas and pool are really nice and comfortable, the breakfast is really top-notch, and the location for exploring the beach side old town center and Marina is pretty much perfect. I was inside a few different rooms, and I found them all kind of musty, which is a common problem with older hotels, sometimes your room smells like the mop bucket after they cleaned, which is not necessarily an improvement. The staff was incredible and I would stay here again.
Didn’t like the fact that the lady who initially checked us in at the reception desk gave us what appeared to be the worst accommodation in the resort! The room, situated on the 8th floor, needed both lifts and stairs to access. The room chosen by us based on the picture in your advert was totally different from the real thing! The TV in the room was unconnected with loose wires sticking out everywhere and we had to phone reception service back to complain. The air-conditioned unit was dirty! Getting into both the poky bathroom/toilet would have been impossible! As I suffer from severe arthritis and recently had a knee replacement, we had to turn this incredibly unhealthy room down and so upgraded to a much better room. Apart from this sad start to my birthday holiday, everything else went well. All other staff members were polite and helpful. On my birthday Tivoli sent birthday a card and kindly offered us birthdays drinks!
The hotel was great but the lack of a coffee machine made me give 4 stars especially since it is a long way to get to the dining area to get coffee in the morning
Dated hotel with minimal amenities. Room was NOT clean upon arrival, wifi did not work in our room, pool was rather dirty with dirty napkins floating and missing tiles, service was subpar with overpriced drinks and lastly, the pictures of the beach pool are NOT the facilities they actually have. Two positives were the decent breakfast buffet and central location.
Its a beautiful property and all the attraction are with in walking distance or short uber drive.
The hotel is modern, clean, and very conveniently located within easy walking distance to downtown area and Marina. The staff are very helpful. The Breakfast spread is incredible.
10/10
Simply amazing everything from hotel beauty clean amazing room i had a stunning view of the city and water from balcony the breakfast was included and so delicious everyone friendly was amazing ! Highly recommend pool was fun too!
The property is older but the staff is attentive and friendly. It is not on the beach but rather has a bus to shuttle to nearby beach. This has limited hours and you have to pay to use a chair there . There is not a lot to do in the area so it forces you to relax which is nice !
Good location but not 4 stars. Property is in serious need of maintenance/repairs/upgrades. The pictures of the pool are not the pool at this property. Breakfast was minimal and usually stale. Large sized rooms, fine as a place to sleep but don’t expect much from the property.
Too many stairs- dated property, was noisy with you gsters
Staff was excellent
The price of this property is not worth the accommodation. It’s very dated, the room wasn’t super clean and our air conditioner was very loud, leaky and stopped working.
nice pool but freezing. grounds were not looked after
Very nice Hotel close to Lagos old town. We really enjoyed our stay
Very good first impression, nice helpful staff, everything looked like a ☆☆☆☆ resort until we entered our room which was very small with claustrophobic bathroom and it was begging for renovation. Overall nice resort in great location with ☆☆ rooms.
The breakfast buffet was awesome. So many choices and the waffles were beyond amazing! Also, their coffee machines provided every kind of coffee, one could possibly desire.
Great walkability into the heart of lagos with a beautiful pool. Room smelled like cigarettes and was not very clean.
Good spot - large room which was nice. Parking close but not right at property.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Tivoli hotel in Lagos. In general the hotel is very nice, for our room we noticed that it is almost impossible to shower without making part of the bathroom wet. Also the changing rooms in the Spa area possibly need some renovation because everything looks a bit outdated and improvised.
Th place is nice, a little dated but well kept. The only issue was the "Place is a Bit Boring". There are no real activities and the "Rules around / in the pool are real fun suckers".
cold food dirty plates and staff with an attitude makes for a really poor start to the day if it was only once it could be overlooked wont be back in a hurry
Comfortable hotel. Nice beach and convienient shuttle. Good breakfast. It is well-located close to marina and downtown Lagos. It needs some updating/ renovations.
Great pool, and amazing location with lots of dining and drinking options nearby.
While the property was well located and aesthetically pleasing outside, the rooms are old and not the cleanest. Our bathroom was extremely outdated and mold was growing in the shower. They also serviced our room at 5PM every day. And while the breakfast buffet was convenient, I was stopped by staff for finishing a mini croissant on my way out. I was also denied a second towel for the pool and we were never able to get a chair by the pool. Overall, not worth the hype.
Great stay! The staff was friendly and accommodating. Also a very quick walk to center city, restaurants, shopping and nightlife.
Great location, glad to have air conditioning in our room. Overall the facility is dated and run down . Needs a refresh. Rooms were a bit noisy and pool was just ok. Breaky got tiresome. Overall 3 stars- would not stay there again.
Building needs some repair on the inside. Did not appreciate having to order ice through room service for a charge of 5 euros.
A few particular staff were extremely rude and unhelpful but thankfully most of the staff were lovely.
Getaway
The hotel was great. Service was excellent, didn’t have to wait long for anything. A few hiccups in the room however reception took care of it once I called. The outdoor pool was great. There was a bus that the hotel provided to take you down to a local beach which also has one of there outdoor pools as well. We ate at two their three restaurants. Along with lunch by the outdoor pool. The food was delicious!
It was a gorgeous property, I’ll definitely be back. The outside pool area was absolutely stunning too! Just be prepared to walk!
The hotel is old , service was terrible . We stayed 3 nights and only 1 day the room was cleaned. We had to call them to bring us toilet paper. Body gel was like water wasn’t even foaming, conditioner was completely empty and even after the cleaning service was done they didn’t even add or replenish , one of my kids beds was making so much noise every time they would turn that I couldn’t sleep. Employees were great and helpful, but overall the property needs some upgrades. Restaurant service was very slow we waited more then an hour for 2 sandwiches, a salad that came without dressing and fries.
Excellent experience
Lagos city trip
Hôtel need renovation. Bathroom had a bad smell. Service to clean the room not effective only at the end of the day when you are in your room so they can’t do it.
The lobby and entrance needs a remodel - as does most of the hotel interiors, spa, hallways. Upon checkin I was already disatissified with the service, The bellman came out and agressively told me to move my car. meanwhile another car pulled in the same spot and walked in. Then the checkin staff was terrible. She was flippen, not trained and argued with me for 2 keys. I mentioned one is needed for the lights and she did not know. She then put me in a room that had to be the worst room in the hotel and the air conditioning was broken knowingly. I went into the room facing a building condemned with graffiti with no air conditioning. While getting dressed some man who did not speak english entered the room while i was in the room to try and fix the air. No one told me and I had only been in the room less than 30 min. It was only when I called and with resistance they changed my room. The new room was nice and from that point I kept mostly to myself and did not interact with the front desk or bell service-Both terrible as the first entry pint to the hotel. The restaurant stff and dining was nice and made for a bit more enjoyment.
The perfect spot for our family of 4
This Hotel fit what we were looking for. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was large and clean. There was a mini fridge which was a plus! The spa could use some attention but we utilized the pool. Dinner at Pateo was excellent!
The was most expensive place I stayed in the 10 days I visited Portugal and unfortunately, the hotel could use some updating. It does not look quite like the pictures, especially in the common areas like the pool and beach club. It’s a great place to stay, but should be at a 3star price point, in my opinion. I did like the size of my room and the amenities inside. I had half board but the food was always luke warm for the buffet meals but the staff there was very friendly.
Quirky hotel
Unique style hotel created from many old houses on the hillside but still in the town. So odd quirks everywhere. Breakfast buffet good. Room very comfortable. Biggest problem was the journey’ from reception to room which had to be taken with a porter in order to find it. 36+ stairs and many corridors and 2 lifts! Not ideal for a 78 year old single female traveler - thoughtless room allocation. As I was only staying one night I just went with it but wouldn’t stay again.
Located in a great spot near all the shops in Lagos. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Its pools and beach were amazing!
Water should have been included in price
Location is decent. Close to marina and Lagos city center. The property is old. Hasnt been renovated in a while and shows deferred maintenance issues. Breakfast was abundant but uninviting.
The staff at this property was next level friendly and super helpful. We loved our stay mostly due to the staff and convenience. The property could definitely use some updates but the food was amazing, there are great amenities and the location is so convenient to everything. The shuttle to their beachfront pool is only 10 min and free. It’s walkable to anything you need and there’s a cute outdoor open air cinema at the marina!
The staff at Tivoli are great! From the reception to the bar staff. The breakfast is amazing. The gym could be a bit bigger as it can get busy at times. We had a problem with the Air Con in one of our rooms and as they couldn't fix it straight away we were given 2 Superior rooms. I'd recommend booking these as they are a little bit more expensive but much nicer than the Standard rooms.
The property is beautiful and the location was perfect!!! Would definitely visit again!
Lovely hotel could do with some tlc starting to look a bit rough round the edges. Room was nice, bit on the small side but very well maintained by the daily housekeeping.
Good hotel overall. We liked where the hotel was located and the free self parking option.
.
Very nice property and helpful staff. The bar is open late but there are no small bite options so that was a damper.Internal furnishings in common areas are a little run down. They were extremely accommodating when we had to leave early the next morning and they opened the buffet for the cold items earlier than normal for us.
It doesn’t seem like the pictures at all, the swimming pool is very busy, the room was dirty and I mentioned it to the hotel manager and was told it would be cleaned next day, but it didn’t happen. The hotel is huge and lots of walking was needed to get to the room and there was no elevator access to the rooms. Lines for everything, from drink at the pool bar, not enough chairs by the pool, a line for coffee in the morning.
Very nice
We had a pleasant stay at the property
Nice hotel, clean rooms. Little dated
Nice 3 day stay with family in a family suite room. Nice that breakfast was included and its a hot buffet. Indoor pool could use some repair. Bed was comfortable. Staff was helpful and dinner bufffet had nice options. Hotel is a little dated here and there. Overall, for the price it is a good value. Rooms were clean.
Tithe experience was fine for urban area.
I stayed here for a few days while in Lagos. Free parking and breakfast were great. The amenities were also great. The hotel is conveniently located and within walking distance of old town and the marina and just a short drive away to beaches.
Amazing amazing AMAZING!! Perfect location and great resort amenities! We will be coming back!
Location, Location, Location
The Tivoli Lagos' best asset is undoubtedly its location. It's a quick walk to the town center, and from the train/bus stations, which other resort-style hotels can't match. We opted for breakfast only, which was satisfactory, and the right value proposition here IMO. There's plenty of great restaurants in town, and if you're not interested in taking the short walk into town, you're probably staying elsewhere. Having a shuttle to the beach club is convenient, and loungers were inexpensive for hotel guests. And it's easy enough to take the shuttle and then set up camp on the open beach if that's your preference. That said, the resort is a bit dated and in need of maintenance in some areas - our shower handle was missing a set screw (so it would come off in your hand) and our TV lacked functioning speakers- these weren't an issue for us to work around but a bit of TLC would go a long way. We also had issues with getting the air conditioning working our first night (as the breaker had popped) - and while it was an easy fix, the service aspect of getting this resolved left something to be desired.
Great Place to Stay
It is great location, steps away from everything. We were upgraded so the rooms were nice. The sound insulation was not great, you could hear people talking outside as well water usage in the washrooms of other rooms could be heard. The breakfast offering was fantastic.
The property was nice but the service could have been more welcoming.
Close to city center. Lots of restaurants and shopping. Marina is close by with lots of stands for boat trips Hotel is nice. The buffet breakfast was included and delicious plenty of options. I do recommend.
The room i was in was several flights of stairs and 2 lifts to reach my room .i checked in with friends and the were located the other side of the hotel, you would have thought they would have kept us nearer to each other or at least closer .The rooms are so hard to find that you are given an escort to the room on first arrival.
We’ve just returned from our stay and had a wonderful time. The hotel was lovely, breakfast was great, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was within walking distance of the marina and Old Town. We’d definitely love to return soon.
So many things to love. The breakfast in the morning is wonderful. The staff is lovely. You are five minutes from the Marina and everything is very walkable. Loved our stay and will definitely return.
My partner and I stayed at Hotel Tivoli Lagos in early June and had a wonderful holiday. The room we had was an ok size but the bathroom was very small, which did make getting ready difficult as there was little room to move about the room. Without a shadow of a doubt, the highlight of our stay was Luis at the bar! He was absolutely fantastic night after night and made our evenings the best. He was kind, funny, and attentive - thank you so much Luis!
