Beautiful place
The hotel is beautiful and excellent but we pay to much money for nights because they charge me the two kids when I did the booking for Expedia I did two adult and two kids and only said was two adults and total was 230 each night I will never use Expedia again I call Expedia and they talk very aggressive for the phone.
the road to the rooms are unpaved and filled with potholes. the room service is not available after 10 pm. We have to wait until 7 am to get towels
We enjoyed our stay at the Tilajari hotel! The property is nice, we saw beautiful birds, iguanas and howler monkeys all onsite! We also did horseback riding - Bryan was our guide with the horses and he was really great, very friendly and kind. We drove into La Fortuna / Arenal each of the three days to do activities and it was a bit of a drive - about 40-50 minutes to the different activities (waterfall, hanging bridges, volcano park), so I would stay closer next time or recommend others to do so if they don’t want a far drive. We did have a few hiccups at the property. The wifi in our room only worked if you stood directly next to the window. We called staff about it three times, as we had to work while we were there but they were unable to help/fix it. Also - at breakfast I found a piece of metal in my eggs (they said likely from a cleaning brush), the staff did apologize for this.
Property is clean and has good view on the river, both from the rooms and from dining area. Pool is big and hot tub jacuzzi is amazing. Food variety is good and they provided specialty Christmas dinner invite as courtesy too. Staff are nice and friendly. All in all is highly recommended!
It is a good property but need upgrades to rooms, furniture to make more lively. We found termite in one of the corner tables and no action after we reported it to the front desk.
It is surrounded by nature and also pretty quiet. The staff very friendly.
Beautiful grounds to explore. Delicious food at the restaurant. Room was fine, nothing special. But the service was great. Definitely a positive experience.
Great Place
It’s a great place to stay. The only issue my wife and I had were the pillows were overstuffed and uncomfortable to sleep on. Otherwise the property, location, food etc. were all excellent. We enjoyed our stay and when visiting the Arenal/La Fortuna area of Costa Rica we would stay there again.
B
I like the hotel. It is a good resort
My husband and I stayed at Tilajari Hotel Resort & Conference Center for one night to celebrate his birthday, and overall, we had a pleasant experience. The property is beautiful, with a kind of vintage charm surrounded by lush greenery that made our stay feel serene and relaxing. One of the highlights was the jacuzzi, which was incredibly soothing after a long day. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to use the pool or tennis courts due to heavy rain, but we were prepared for that since it’s just the season. Despite the weather, the grounds remained stunning. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. A special thanks to Gustavo, who made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The restaurant staff were also kind, although the food wasn’t the highlight of our stay. That said, I do have to caution future guests—this hotel does not offer room service. I had planned a special surprise for my husband with a bottle of wine and cake in our room after enjoying the jacuzzi, but the staff couldn’t accommodate my request. If you’re considering Tilajari for a special occasion and need room service, you might want to rethink your plans.
Muy lindo me gustó mucho el hotel
Good value for price
Must replace mattres and pillows.
The matres and pillows are not confortable. They must replace them asap. You cannot rest well.
Good hotel, good amenities
Overall great experience at this facility. Staff was prompt, room was clean as described and location was beautiful.
The hotel is very likeable because of well hept gardens and facilities. Highly recommended
They don’t found quickly the reservation.
Beautiful property with a great breakfast buffet, pools and walking paths. Beautiful area well maintained. We had monkeys in the trees outside our balcony
Pool was green, looked dirty and disgusting, even though the pool guy said to us it was safe to use. The food at the restaurant is not even close to the quality it should have for the price they charge for it. It’s expensive and not that good. For the rest, rooms and sorrounding areas were clean and well maintained.
The property has a river running behind it for a beautiful view. The owner walks the grounds and interacts with the guests and staff. Every employee was so friendly and helpful! The buffet breakfast was amazing as well as the dinner menu. I can’t find anything bad to say!
I like the place
Great place, if you want to be a little away
Great rooms, great staff, food was great, pool was nice and heated. They are just a little short staffed. Sometimes, room service was a little delayed.
Amazing stay .
What an amazing place! Great customer service and beautiful plants and animals everywhere.
Great long weekend.
Fantastic stay at Tilajari. Staff was very friendly. What I liked best is that EVERYONE seemed so proud to be Costa Rican. Luis was our guide for the day, and he was THE BEST.
Good locatin
Lovely
Great hotel with a nice view.
Great hotel with a nice view.
This was a pretty property. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable.
Spacious clean room, beautiful grounds, delicious breakfast and friendly staff. Highly recommended!!
Great place surrounded by nature. The staff was very kind and friendly.
Excelente! Recomiendo el hotel y sobre todo las habitaciones de categoría mayor. Si bien el hotel se encuentra un poco alejado de la fortuna, recomiendo este hospedaje por sus buenas instalaciones y calidad de su personal El desayuno es bueno.
Enjoyed very much
Very nice experience
I thought the staff was great, especially Kevin, who was very helpful and friendly. My room was huge. The restaurant was quite good too. The butterfly and botanical gardens need some work.
Nice place!
Good location & great staff!!!
Great staff. The Hotel inspires safety and has awesome gardens. Delicious breakfast every morning during your stay.
Good for relaxing
4th stay at Tilajari. Its a comfortable resort with things for kids to do but not many other things in the area. It has a good buffet. I go here just to relax and not feel i have to do anything.
The water of the Sauna pool smell like sink :(
Great room, good price. Breakfast desert should be better covered for flies.
Cerca de Todo
Instalaciones bien mantenidas, linda piscina. Comida del restaurante le falta calidad y sabor, habitación correcta pero nunca funcionó el agua caliente. En general el servicio es bueno y tiene buena ubicación geográfica.
Very well maintained older facility with great character Every staff member in contact with were cheerful, efficient and friendly. Very relaxing and not crowded
Excellent resort. Regreso sin duda
The property was easy to navigate. Staff was very helpful, and professional.
Staff was very helpful and accommodating
Staff are friendly, food is great and room is very comfortable !
Perfect location for a corporate retreat.
The room we were originally given didn’t have beds enough for 5 people as advertised. The two beds were infested with bed bugs. We went back to registration, were given a new room in a much nicer part of the complex. The first room had evidence of bed bugs as well. We ended up with a different two rooms that had a few black flecks on the mattress pads but we settled for that for the night. The grounds looked beautiful but we didn’t stay long enough to explore those. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Todo excelente, pero el precio de la comida es bastante alto.
The resort and facilities were nice. The response time from the front desk was disappointing. We tried multiple times to make reservations for activities by email and phone before we arrived but were unable to do so. We took a river float tour and horseback ride with Luis as our guide. He was awesome! The tours were the best part of our stay! We saw sloths, crocodiles, a boa constrictor, bats, frogs, monkeys, and many types of birds.
Installations are private, there's security.Has activities within the property. They are improving the exterior. The cleaning service is good.I observed the cleaning staff struggling to push the cleaning supply cart in the rough walkway, kind of an unnecessary work load. Breakfast was good, restaurant service was very courteous and prompt. Landscaping is rich in local flora though the peacock pen needed a good power wash. The pool is a good size but in bad need of surface repair. The kid pool is ok. The jacuzzi is way too small for a fullsize adult. The large grassy area was used for group sports and was nice. We had a reservation through Gate 1 and we were offered their largest and most comfy room in the seven hundred row of rooms. We had invited a second family to join us here in Costa Rica. They were assigned a 600 series room, way smaller a.nd distant from us . We were misinformed that the seven hundred rooms were sold out. We checked online and realized 2 rooms were available and with this info in hand we confronted the male reception clerk who grudgingly upgraded their room . We always offered to pay the difference between room rates. He has been the only Costa Rican with an attitude.
Friendly Staff. Nice large room with high ceilings.
It was magically beautiful! The property is filled with captivating wildlife and amazing plants and flowers everywhere!
Regular facilities and poor service.
Poor welcoming, room with strong tobacco smell, soap dispenser didn´t work. They offered a place for charging car but never let us know where it was. Regular service in restaurant. Bed in regular condition.
Waiting to go back again with all my family next time
Amazing. Beautiful rooms
Buena comida
Ran out of funding?
Great rooms, OK pool and fine Tennis courts. Other than that it looks like the hotel owners ran out of money, lots of land around the hotel was left empty or not in a good order. Also dinner was not too good. I found the hotel overpriced.
A highly recommended vacation place, family hotel with great amenities (soccer, tennis, basketball fields) good food, a nice and big pool. Overall a nice place to stay, very close to La Fortuna, where you can go to visit the Arenal Volcano and know about the local tourism proposals.
A real contact with nature and the staff was amazing. The view of the Arenal Volcano breathless!!!!
loved the view of the river . room was a little basic . no fridge or microwave . that would have helped .
Very confortable
Great Experience
This is a great hotel. Excellent service, clean and COVID safety conscious, great restaurant, and beautiful grounds. Only complaint is that there are very young kids in the adult pool, some in diapers, but this is more of a parent issue than a hotel one, and a very common thing in Costa Rica. It’s really bad considering that they have 2 kid pools!
I liked how quiet it is. Perfect for a relax stay. I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and an excellent chef on lunch and supper.
Excellent location, within its own wildlife reserve Giant Green iguanas, lots of different birds and butterflies. Great food and friendly helpful staff.
Close enough to La fortuna if you have a care.
The hotel is very clean, with good amenities. We really enjoyed the room and the restaurant. The pool was large and well maintained and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only negative is the distance to La Fortuna. It is a 25 minute drive. Otherwise it is a great hotel.
Good hotel and service.
Room was so comfortable Room was so comfortable Room was so comfortable Room was so comfortable
Room was very clean and in great condition! Nice location surrounded by nature.
Great place
This place was amazing. The staff and amenities was fantastic
Nice place for a relaxing time
Rooms are nice and remodeled. Nice gardens. Big swimming pool and yacuzzi
More than expected.
Great stay more than expected. Service, so tropical location, great attendance.
Great hotel!
Everything was great, awesome view. Good good. There was a butterfly garden and a botanical garden, something not very usual in hotels. The room was comfortable and I would definitely go back again.
Beautiful and comfortabe.
Very modern and comfortable, We ate in the restaurant there, food was good. Lots of birds for bird watchers, We saw a crocodile in the river behind the restaurant and lots of colorful birds around the property.
Spacious bedrooms with gorgeous free toiletries.
The hotel is situated in beautiful gardens where we spotted lots of unusual birds, iguanas, lizards, crocodiles and butterflies. The restaurant food was of first class standard for dinner and reasonably priced but the breakfast buffet could be improved. The horse riding and jungle trek the hotel offers is very good value and a great experience.
Beautiful property, awesome staff, great food
Highly recommend this hotel. Great service, nice rooms, awesome staff and good food.
Hidden gem
Absolute steal for the price . The pool and spa and restaurant are well worth more than the price listed . This is a hidden gem . Only downfall is no room service and the beds aren't too comfy but absolutely worth the price !
Very close to volcano.
We stumble across this hotel by chance in a rain storm and we were very pleased.
Nice place off the grid
The hotel was very nice. This place is located about 25 minute drive from excursions, so we had to pay for a taxi each day to get to our scheduled activities. Few front desk staff members needed some attitude adjustments. Was quite shocked and confused with our final bill. They charged $15 per person each day for our 2 kids. SERIOUSLY? We stayed here for 3 nights, so we had to pay $90 more dollars. It was the principle. With 2 beds in the room, and 2 kids, why did they think it was okay to charge for minor kids staying with parents? As much as we enjoyed this hotel, I will not recommend this place to friends and family. I have 3 couples, with their kids traveling there this summer. I will not recommend this place to them.
Fun at Tilajari
It was a fast stay but as nice as usual. We like staying here because it is isolated but has a basketball court, tennis courts, swimming pools, sauna, spa, butterfly garden, conference center and many more amenities. We saw an armadillo, a Jesus Christ lizard, many birds and HUGE iguanas. This is a great place for both adults and families. Beautiful gardens too.
The Hotel/Resort is a Tennis Country Club
We arrived Sunday afternoon just as a Tennis Tournament had ended and occupancy was very low. The pool was utilized by local families who are members of the Country club, which is a plus for being an immersion experience. On Monday we enjoyed having the pool and hot tub to our selves for two night stay. The grounds and gardens are lovely and the location on a bend in the river is peaceful, except for the sound of the trucks on the road which was quite close to the resort. We felt if occupancy had been high it would have been a very different experience.
Great and Beautiful
Beautiful Hotel
Wonderful bed, clean rooms, edible food.
We arrived at this hotel during the easter weekend. This hotel seems to double up as some kind of country club for rich costa ricans so we therefore arrived at a time when the hotel was likely at its most full. This meant that the pool area was often too crowded to get in. However, the rooms are great, super clean, big beds and a good mattress. There is hot water in the shower (something which one can not necessarily expect in Costa Rica) and most importantly, the staff are amazingly professional and friendly. The place is quite far from the hot springs and walks around the arenal volcano but by itself should offer a relaxing and pleasant stay.
Beatiful grounds
Beautiful hotel property, comfortable rooms, off the beaten path. If you want a quiet, peaceful stay in the Arenal/LaFortuna area, this hotel is for you.
Probably best in the area
Nice hotel near several attractions or if on business the best in the area. Very friendly staff and food was good. Rooms need to be remodeled specialty bathrooms.
Very Bad Experience
We had 3 rooms and we were there for 2 days. We didn't have hot water during entire stay. All of us had cold shower. entrance lock was not working in one of the room. Management tried to fix the hot water issue but couldn't fix it for 2 days.
Way off path, middle of nowhere if you like that
Specifically booked and got confirmation for room with king size bed. Expedia confirmed reservation will be held for late arrival. Got there and was given room with 2 beds. Despite my requests I was told they didn't have any. So much for making and getting confirmed reservation.
Very good Hotel instalation
Very good facilities, we stayed two nights everything was very clean. I would improove the breakfast options. Is not very close to the Arenal volcano but if you are in car you can reach it in 45 min. Driving
Beautiful grounds and excellent accomodations
In Costa Rica space and parking is luxury. At this hotel we were provided with both. We were able to walk out of our room and take a walk in the jungle or the grounds for as long as we wanted, without being concerned about traffic.
Absolute dream vacation in tropical rain forest
This place is wonderful, and a steal for the price! It's quiet, clean, first-class, and has plenty of activities both in the resort and nearby. The restaurant serves tasty and healthy food, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, there are nice tennis courts and a gym on the premises. The pool and hot tub were clean. Lovely butterfly sanctuary, and the entire place was a botanic garden with a variety of tropical plants and medicinal herbs. Located next to a rolling river, we saw giant iguanas on the lawns, and a sloth sleeping in the tree near our room. We had a great horseback ride and rainforest tour at Tilajari, with two guides who showed us many plants and animals that we had missed on self-guided tours. Driving to this area, we saw nothing to prepare us for this hidden gem, it's really out of the way but did not disappoint. I highly recommend this hotel/resort.
Relaxing time
This resort had everything you needed and did not need to leave. We saw birds, crocks, iguanas, beautiful landscaping.
Bird sticks.
Loved everything about this place. The comfortable room, the beautiful landscaping, the butterfly house, but especially the bird sticks! What a way to start the day.
End of April Vacation
Extremely quiet with a dedicated, helpful staff. We had the place to ourselves. Beautiful pool and hot tub. Plenty of outdoor activities on the property. Great food.
Basic rooms, beautiful grounds, middle of nowhere
We stayed 2 nights January 2012. The hotel is far from anything; a 30 minute drive to La Fortuna town, then another 10 minutes to the hot springs. But it was a peaceful, quiet location. The grounds are large and pretty with a tennis court and soccer field. A river runs behind the property and there are iguanas everywhere. We also saw a crocodile by the river - it's not for swimming! The pool and jacuzzi were also nice. The breakfast at the restaurant was a buffet with eggs, gallo pinto, fruit, pancakes, juice, and coffee. It was all fine, but not great. The rooms are pretty basic and could use some updating and maintenance. No fridge or microwave. The window was broken, and the water from the shower didn't drain. For both nights the sheets did not stay on the bed; it was a little gross to be sleeping directly on the mattress. We felt it was fine for the money, but probably won't be back.
Tilajari Hotel and Conference Center
Excellent accommodations, beautiful and well maintained grounds, the service staff was very helpful and knowledgable. A great conference center - your business will enjoy the tranquil atmosphere that Tilajari offers. Very affordable, picturesque and memorable.
I didn’t like the noise we heard all night … it sounded like a generator or some kind of pump going on and off ! I have stayed in tilajari before but first time I heard this noise from my room
