Excellent location within walking distance of the heart of Cusco with access to shopping and multiple eating options. The hotel has a distinct colonial vibe with the beautiful courtyard and water fountain. Breakfast hit the spot with a wide variety of choices and made to order eggs, waffles and pancakes. Just be sure to avoid the rooms facing the street due to traffic noise late into the night.

If you select this hotel, take the superior rooms only. Those are away from the general street. Others are crazy noisy.

The only complaint was that our hotel bedroom door didn’t have a second latch lock on it. It could have been opened from the landing area with a key.

The staff is helpful, warm and welcoming. I had a very positive experience with Pamela, Diego and Gearson. The hotel is also very conveniently located within a short walking distance to the Historic Center, Main Plaza and Inca Museum. They serve a very nice breakfast and the staff is very accommodating if you may have a need for something not readily available in the breakfast room. Highly recommended. Good value at a very reasonable cost.

We stayed for a week at the Tierra Viva Hotel (Cusco Centro). Good choice: location is convenient for walking to all of the central locations, which also makes the hotel a good base for day-trips and excursions. Breakfast buffet was always good. Overall prices were reasonable. We had a room on the street-facing side which was noisy during night (bring ear plugs or ask for an interior/courtyard room?).

Tierra Viva was a wonderful hotel - the staff were very helpful and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. We would definitely stay there in the future.

Good Service

I had a great experience at Tierra Viva! The location of the hotel is great to walk to the Plaza de Armas and around Cusco, the building and rooms are lovely, the staff was very helpful for any questions we had and both helped us get a taxi from the airport when we arrived in Cusco and a to-go breakfast when we had to checkout early. It is also within a walkable distance to the train station which was perfect for going to Machu Picchu. I was extremely impressed with the breakfast buffet that was included, which I think is the best I have ever seen at a hotel between the buffet itself and the option to order additional dishes that weren't put out on the buffet.

Like much of Peru, the people working at Tierra Viva went the extra mile to ensure that my friend and I had a comfortable stay. They made us feel right at home (addressing us by name as we entered and exited the property). We went on a Salkantay trek and stayed at Tierra Viva prior to and after the hike. They happily stored our luggage and had it waiting in our new room prior to our return. The property is conveniently a short walk away from the Plaza de Armas. The rooms are well insulated from the outside sound and we slept comfortably. Highly recommend!

Beautiful old building with inner courtyard, very safe, comfortable & charming decor. Excellent front desk service.

This place is in the center of Cusco close to many major areas of interest, i.e. plazas, museums, restaurants, street markets, etc. They are also only a bus or train ride from Machu Picchu, Aguas Calientes, Ollytantambo, and so much more. The staff go above and beyond for anything you may need, help with luggage, directions to local places, calling taxis, and the lovely breakfast they serve. They main staff are fluent in English if you don't know Spanish, the grounds are immaculate, and everything is very affordable. I highly recommend this hotel if you plan on visiting the area.

This hotel met all my expectations. Despite some of the reviews I read to the contrary, our room was quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was great. The first two days of my stay the room was very nice The third day we came back from Machu Picchu we were placed in corner room in the back, which was needed a little bit more upkeep. We booked one Friday night and there was music playing probably from one of the restaurants or bars nearby but you could just hear it through the walls until 1am. Also it was our first night in Cusco after staying mostly in Ollantaytambo and the room 108 was small, tight and stuffy. It was getting a bit harder to breathe but we couldn’t even open the windows because of the way it was structured. It wasn’t as bad as we needed oxygen but it was hard to sleep having to take deep breaths and a room that feels like there is barely any ventilation. We had to step outside to get some air for some time. Location, I guess is good for being nearby the Cusco center. The room was maintained clean but other than that, the space was tight, barely had room for our luggages and barely had any air to breathe. Please fix those windows.

I liked its location (3 or 4 blocks from the main square). The facilities were very nice. My bedroom was big, clean and quiet. The washroom was also clean. Breakfast was very good with various options. The employees were very friendly and polite. This hotel will be my first option to stay in my next trip to Cusco.

The people at the front desk were extremely helpful. A gentleman at the front desk named Wilson was especially helpful. He helped me contact an organization that I could not reach by phone. Wilson was first-rate!

The hotel was located in Cusco center city. It was a 15 minute drive from airport. Uber was available to take from airport to hotel. When we just entered the hotel through its street entrance we were afraid it was just a hole in the wall property. However once we were inside, it was great. The room was very nice. It even had a loft. The staff were super helpful. The breakfast was good too.

Hotel staff was Great

This was my first trip to a new country, and the staff at Tierra Viva Cusco Centro made me feel very welcome. They were very helpful in giving me local information about restaurants, shopping, and points of interest. They even held my bag for me on the last day, after I had already checked out, so I could explore Cusco for several more hours before my plane flight home. Jimmi at the front desk even arranged a taxi pickup for me to the airport. I can't thank the staff enough, they were all wonderful. The location of the hotel itself was very convenient. Cusco is a very walkable city, and I felt as though I was right in the middle of everything. No matter which way that I walked, there was something to see or do. The breakfast buffet was also much better than expected, with fresh eggs, sautéed vegetables, meats, fresh fruits, juices, yogurts, cereals, coffee and tea... I'm probably forgetting something, there was so much. Overall, I would highly recommend staying here. It's safe, it's clean, you're well cared for without it being bothersome, and extra was provided that wasn't even expected. Happy travels!!!

Friendly hotel in a great location

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. They let us drop our bags and kept them safely there overnight whilst we visited Machu Picchu. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was in a good location, within the centre of Cusco but despite this the hotel was nice and quiet. The only let-down was the breakfast which was just average.
