Nice staff but not a good value for money. The city center hotels have much more to offer. Our room did not have hot water. There are really no amenities onsite. No gym, no pool, no breakfast. The cafe onsite was a fine for coffee or soft boiled eggs. Nothing more.
Lovely boutique hotel
Lovely boutique hotel in the middle of China town. I loved the outdoor bathroom. Really friendly staff.
Easy walk to lots of food spots, comfortable bed, clean room, friendly staff. Room itself was nice for a short stay. Open air bathroom is cool, but plenty of mosquitos are also around. Mosquito nets on the bed frame is not just for looks. Expected some noise being central but needed earplugs with noise from some club or karaoke somewhere nearby. It seemed to stop before midnight.
Very quiet room despite being in the centre of Chinatown. We loved the character of the deco and the open air bathroom.
Nice hideout in the middle of the city
Very cool hitel
Not the usual hotel room decor. Teak antique furniture n bronze gives nostalgic feeling..plus an outdoor washroom. Very convenient plenty eateries outside.
It's an old building and a small room. But everything else is a very fun place to stay. The services are very good and friendly. The room is somewhat artistic. Especially in the bathroom, I felt like bathing outside. When you step out the front door of the hotel. There are many street food vendors waiting for you to serve all kinds of food! It's a fun place to stay!
I’ve never been more torn in providing reviews. This is indeed a hidden gem amidst the hustle bustle of Chinatown (great location with lots of cafes, bars and restaurants plus a stone throw’s from the major tourist attractions). Smart design and aesthetically pleasing with ‘In the Mood for Love’ vibes. The al fresco toilet and shower situation is genius! Not forgetting a lounge room which came in handy for my night work calls. Of course, nothing tops the people, Aung and Nazam (thank you for carrying our luggages up to the 1st floor) were simply amazing - professional, helpful, friendly and chill. On the other hand, my room has mosquitos. The coils, sprays and bed netting unfortunately didn’t deter their attacks night after night, otherwise this would have been my fav hotel in KL!
Super convinient location. Room is unique and superb, very clean. The only slight downside is the pillows are a bit too firm and high. Highly recommended!
Great location, knowledgeable and kind staff really willing to help.
This hotel has a unique feel and although it's on a relatively busy street, it was quiet - making it very convenient. Loved the coffee in the cafe too.
A lovely boutique hotel
A gem of a boutique hotel in a busy Chinatown street. There are plenty of cheap eats nearby, Petalang St and Central Market. Our room had a great feel with shower and toilet on the verandah outside. The only negative was a rather small safe. If you want breakfast you have to pre order. Pasar Seni metro station is only a 10 minute walk way. The staff were very friendly and helped us several times. Overall highly recommended.
Overall good place to be.
Love the vibe of the hotel! Good location near to everything I love. Just a little disappointed that we could not get 2 single beds.
Old and nostalgic charms add character to this hotel setting.
It was a very interesting experience, like traveling back in time. Our stay was good and pleasant. The staff were very pleasant and helpful
Good location at Chinatown street .many food But room. No sound proof . Very noise Next door . Cannot sleep welll
The property is great! Close to great food, nightlife, convenience stores. A street over from petaling. The room and decor was on point. The outdoor washroom was neat. Would definitely come back to stay here. The check in area is a desk in the coffee shop, but smooth check in process.
Great location in Chinatown, close to public transportation
Overall, great place to stay. Smack in the middle of china town where there are tons of restaurants and hawker stalls. Also very close to shopping petaling street so everything is super close. We barely left the neighborhood the first two nights because there was so much to do around. Clean rooms. The only small thing is you might hear some occasional loud piping sounds during the night (old school pipes) or if you find the outdoor bathroom odd.
A charming hotel and a great location to explore the old and newly revamped Chinatown district.
The rooms were very unique and peaceful, very clean. Even though the hotel is in a busy area, the rooms were quiet.
Definitely recommend
The staff was very friendly and the room was in excellent condition and the room service team did a good job. I did wish there was more to the complimentary breakfast. Something less bread-based and vegan would have put me over the moon.
Friendly staff! Only problem was I had a late check in and had to wait 15mins for staff to arrive. However I hadn’t let them know in advance, so partly my fault! Great hotel. Would definitely return.
A must when visiting KL
An amazing boutique hotel in a great location. Staff were friendly and the room was a very high standard.
Comfy bed a stone's throw from Petaling Street
Friendly reception. Unusual design: toilet and shower on the balcony with rolled wooden blinds for privacy [although not easily overlooked... only visible from downstairs and anyone viewing you would be immediately obvious]. Comfy bed with mosquito netting which wasn't needed while we were there. Low occupancy meant that breakfast was a la carte, pre-ordered the previous day. Roti telur were good, the curry puffs less so. The location is ideal for Petaling Street market and a short walk from the Pasar Seni MTR station. Central Market and Merdeka Square are not much further. The building is nicely refurbished and houses a popular coffee house on the ground floor at which residents get a free drink of their choice each day. The small lounge area in the breakfast room is available for the use of residents throughout the day. WiFi reception was variable but it was usually possible to swap router and find a strong signal.
Great concept in theory, not so good in practice
It's a really lovely hotel, excellent service, very clean, very good location, and is fantastic apart from three things. First, the wifi was blazingly fast but had weird drop outs where it slowed to a crawl. Not sure why. Second, in theory, the outdoor bathroom by a garden is terrific; in practice, the staff explained to me, it's a nightmare for mosquitos. Hence, we had to burn a mosquito coil outdoors, use an electronic mosquito repellant indoors, and as a last resort, lower a mosquito net over the bed. To be fair I didn't get bitten by a single mosquito while I was there, but the smoke and the chemical smell of the mosquito repellant annoyed me. Last, the water heating system is really inefficient, requiring you to turn on the heater beforehand and then wait for water to heat up. Even so, usually towards the end of my shower, the hot water would run out. This would not be so bad, except you're outdoors and the heat dissipates quickly, and you're left wet and cold. Ultimately, I would suggest walling off the bathroom from the garden. Put a window in for the view. Fix the wifi. Then this hotel would be perfect.
Well-designed boutique hotel in the middle of Chinatown. Has a slight issue with mosquitoes but overall recommended for the location, good condition of fittings, and style.
Overall nice room but there is not enough hot water for 2 people to shower unless together at one go.
A unique and creatively designed hotel
It is a uniquely and aesthetically design space. Comfortable and enjoyable.
A beautiful exotic boutique hotel in KL China Town
Great stay. Very nice room with large balcony and real garden view (in the center of China Town!). Perception of space and eye for detail in original interior design. Real rain shower in exotic open bathroom (individual boiler=always hot water). Excellent architects designed this hotel. 100% working wifi with strong signal. Made on request breakfast was very good with top personal service. Reception/check-in should be improved.
Nice staff
Welcome drink is perfect. Staff is willing to share the information.
Small comfortable hotel at the heart of Chinatown
The hotel is very clean and compact, with basic amenities provided and the bed is very comfortable. Coffee at the cafe is wonderful and staffs are basically friendly. The room is basic, suitable for couples, not recommended for families with young children. I love the little touches here and there that reminds me of the olden times. The only complain i have is that there's no parking nearby and would highly recommend the hotel to work on that to attract more local tourists. The nearest parking (opposite) doesn't provide full day parking and the nearest full day parking is more than 5 mins walk, and it doesn't look very safe.
Great Stay, Great Location
My wife and I stayed at this amazing small boutique hotel (about 16 rooms) in the middle of Chinatown. The hotel is about 5 months old and everything is super clean and pleasantly decorated. The reception area contains a small cafe where you can get cold or hot beverages and pastries. Our room included a complementary drink daily. Breakfast is very good. The extensive menu includes dim sum, Nasi Lamak, Naan with curry sauce, eggs, and toast with butter and kaya jam. You can choose as many as you wish and the coffee is quite good. The location of the hotel was perfect for us. It is one block away from the Petaling flea market, a 10 minute walk to the Central market and about a 20 min walk to Jalan Alor. The Pasar Seni MRT station is a 5 minute walk. Although the evening street scene is quite active with many popup restaurants, you won't hear any street noise in your room or in the cafe. We were headed to Singapore next and guess what? The bus pickup point was right across the street. How convenient is that?? The manager/owner of the hotel is Eltham; I hope I spelled his name correctly. He's a young, hard working fellow. He and his staff will always try to help you out.
Wonderful place. I’ll definitely come back. Great area
Beautiful hotel, excellent service. Get booking people!
KL's Promising Mod Hotel
Our stays at Tian Jing were very pleasing! We stayed on two occasions each for one night and our room was on the ground floor each time. The room was clean, simple, but full of modern charm. Linens were clean and comfortable. The netting seems decorative at first, but could be used. The "outside" bathroom on the closed in terrace is fabulous. No issues with water temp or pressure, nor feeling 'exposed'. On our second time through we decided to try their breakfast -- delicious! The cook was gracious and asked to prepare more Asian dishes for us to try. Stepping outside the hotel's front step, the pedaling market just around the corner full of restaurant and shopping choices! Overall, Tian Jing has a delightful ambiance from stepping inside their front coffee shop to their upstairs sitting area to your accommodations. Highly recommended!
One of the best hotels I have stayed in!
My dad and I got the Twin Room with a Patio View and the room had a very beautiful and memorable bathroom - wooden floorboards, the landscaping of the trees, pebbles, and bricks with the natural light shining in. I had a relaxing experience taking a shower there after a long day of walking. The hotel had complete basic amenities (hot / cold shower, hair dryer, etc.) and the overall theme and design is very modern and stylish. I think you get great value for your money the luxurious and unique feel of the hotel. They also offer free coffee / drinks daily to their guests in the Lim Kee Cafe in the 1st floor. Breakfast is served on the second floor (Nanyang Lounge) at around 8:30 - 10:30 am but they were able to accommodate our 7:30am request as we had an scheduled tour in the morning. You just have to inform them of what you want to eat (they have a menu) and what time so they can prepare the food beforehand. The staff were friendly and accommodating; they even greet us and ask us how our day went. Overall, our stay in Tian Jing Hotel is a pleasant and memorable one. I will definitely recommend this to friends and book it again when I go back to Kuala Lumpur.
Highly Recommended
Loved the place & the staff.KL the choices are between charmless corporate hotels & grubby hostels This is a beautiful & unique alternative. Chinese shophouse converted tastefully. And the staff were wonderful. I kept coming back & will do again.
Our second stay at the Tian Jing was just as wonderful as the first. Friendly and helpful staff and a magnificent breakfast (made to order from a selection of local dishes). We'll be back!
Good location
Just near the China Town and the night market, and in a walkable distance to the Central Market and mass transport system. You could find everything in the area. The hotel itself is located in the upstairs of a cafe and you can even smell the coffee in the morning. Room is small but lovely. Conformable stay!

Unique hotel. Was kind of weary at first about the shower and toilet being on the balcony. But kind of grew on me as it’s private. Decors is beautifully done. Staff were great and hotel what’s matter are you sure 40 provided one free/day with choice of coffee or ice cold drink…great stay
