Right from the start we were greeted with a smile, the front desk reception went above and beyond to answer all of our questions as it was our first day in Portugal. The room was beautiful, exceptionally clean, quiet and comfortable. When we return to Tomar this will be the hotel we return to. Thank you staff!

Great stay

Beautiful hotel in the middle of everything! Newer rooms. Breakfast was very nice. Customer service was excellent. Our only problem was getting in and out of the bed. It was in a platform between 2 walls. So we had to crawl out of the bottom of the bed. This is because we are older and not as flexible anymore. View of caste was very pretty!

Everything was great

Hotel is freshly-renovated and comfortable, and a 2-minute walk from the main pedestrian road Serpa Pinto. The people at the front desk were very pleasant.

Loved the location of this place. The room was lovely although the air con was turned off at a certain time and heating was turned on. I did struggle to sleep the first night due to this but the hotel did provide a fan at least

Great location for seeing the old town and the Convent of Christ (chapel, monastery, castle). Good breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. No elevator in building, but staff helped carry one suitcase up the stairs.

We reserved rooms here to spend a night before going next day to Fatima, because there was no room available there. We only wanted something decent, clean, but we found much more than that.

This was a very clean and bright hotel, close to the cultural attractions of Tomar, and many restaurants. Staff were extremely polite and helpful. The breakfast buffet was good, with a selection of breads, cheeses, ham, turkey. fruit and cereals. Also yogurt. Free parking is a short walk away, across the bridge. Be aware that there is no place to stop and offload your luggage right in front of the hotel. The room was excellent and appeared to be recently renovated. Our room included a mini kitchen with a microwave, fridge, cooktop, dishes and utensils. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Tomar. Note - no elevator, thus not suitable if you have mobility challenges.

The hotel has everything one needs, though it's fairly basic. Breakfast is a little pricey, but convenient. Our room had a small outside area, which was very pleasant.

Great property. In walking distance from main attractions.

The location of the hotel was ideal. However, the hotel is marked parking on site included. There is no onsite parking. There is free public parking across the river, but no way to stop and unload at the hotel. This was fine for us, but might negatively affect someone with mobility challenges. Also there is no elevator and narrow stairs to consider. The staff was lovely and the kitchenette was a pleasant surprise.

Charming Hotel & Room at Excellent Price

This was such a nice, charming, comfortable hotel and for a great price.

Right beside the river. Parking is a challenge however.

Great convienant place to stay. Parking was in a free lot but it was about 400 meters away so if you have mobility issues this may not be for you. The lady at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. She let us store our bags at checkout so we could tour the town. This is a very good place for the price. It is very close to old town and many restuarants and grocery stores. Highly recommend.

The debit was cute and references the town. The person at the front desk was always pleasant and helpful. However, I walk with a cane (guest house didn't know) and we're were on the 2nd floor. It was difficult. The bed was surrounded by three walls, so we had to literally crawl into bed from the foot. The was also a stair up to the bed, and my husband almost fell when he got up at night. Not a good fit for a couple in there seventies.

Great place to stay

Overall the stay here was excellent. Just a couple of things travelers should know If you're staying on the top floor it can be a long way up, good cardio, as there is no lift. Also the blurb says that parking is available, its not. The hotel is extremely clean, bed changed daily etc

Thomar Story Hotel: A great place to stay

I had a lovely six- night stay at the Thomar Story - absolutely no complaints whatsoever. After 10 days driving solo from the UK across France and Spain, the hotel was a perfect oasis of peace and quiet. A lovely, well-appointed, clean room with masses of hot water and the staff are all friendly and helpful. From the hotel, it's an easy two-minute walk into the historic centre of Tomar with its many cafes, bars and restaurants. Thomar Story will certainly be my first choice hotel next time I am in the area.

Good location, needs fixing

On the positives. The staff was so welcoming and friendly! It was a pleasure. The location is great, very close to the old town and several restaurants. The B&B had been renovated and was very clean. Breakfast was decent, not great, but convenient "in-house". Also parking is free, but in various parking lots a bit away from the hotel, so be ready to drag your luggage to the hotel as there is no way to park even shortly by the hotel (busy street). On the not-so-positives. The AC was a nightmare: it came on "softly", but quickly turned into a "diesel tractor", noisy and vibrating like mad, then soft again - and repeat. No way to sleep with this very loud AC. So, no AC, we both were completely drenched through the night from the heat and the humidity - did not sleep much. We reported the problem - first were told that "we are waiting for the technician", second that "oh, so loud!? We really need to call the technician..." So probably a known problem, yet not addressed. Disappointing and frustrating in light of the heat wave. Nicely they comped us for the breakfast, but that does not address an almost sleepless night.

Nice room with en-suite bathroom. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. The room had a tv, air conditioning, a desk with chair, and clean sheets. The bathroom had nice hot water, good water pressure, clean towels, hand soap, shampoo, body wash, and hairdryer. Breakfast is also available. No elevator. Would stay again.

A very good value

The location is dead center Tomar, a brief walk to anything you want to see. Cordial staff, clean, good-sized room with upscale bath - figuring out that shower faucet took me a while :)... Clarify parking location before arrival. It is free, but across the river, about a 400 meter walk. Don't let that sway you, it is a pretty walk!

Great staff who were very helpful with helping us sightsee. The location is also great for walking to locations you will want to visit.

Helpful and considerate staff. They explained where all the sites were. They told us about the breakfast bit there was no pressure to decide

It's super clean, easily accessible from the train station. The breakfast is really good, especially for 5 Euros. It's right at the edge of the old town, which is absolutely lovely. Also the Convent is easily reached (15-20 minutes uphill).

Great hotel, perfect location

We stayed two nights at Thomar Story while walking the Camino Portugues and highly recommend it. This is a lovely small modern hotel in a great area of central Tomar. It’s only a couple of hundred meters from the main square with its cafes and shops and not much further to the castle and convent. Perfect location. Our room was very clean and everything was in good repair. The AC and wifi were both strong, the shower was great, and the shutters provided complete blackout at night. The only thing not perfect was the bed, which was a bit too hard for us. It would also have been nice to have a small fridge/mini bar, but we knew going in that there wasn’t one. The reception/cleaning staff were wonderful. They’re fluent in English and provided helpful advice on what to see and where to find the services (laundry, ATM, restaurants) we wanted. We paid extra for breakfast and it was good value for the price. We thought the 8:30 start time for breakfast was a bit late, though. We enjoyed our two nights at Thomar Story and would stay there again.

We loved the hotel. The design was great. Very innovative. The rooms were very clean and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We would definitely visit again and recommend it to all visitors of the city

A Very Comfortable Place to Stay

Tomar Story is not amazing or spectacular, it's a quiet, very comfortable place to stay with a friendly, helpful staff.

Very safe and easy to explore from the location. The reception ladies were wonderful. They lent me a kettle foe tea. They even lent a beautiful cup..

The property is well located. When we first arrived we were given a room that looked like a student dorm, not a single bit of colour on the walls, with a small double bed enclosed on both sides. We asked for a room change and got a much nicer room that actually had nice wall hangings, and a small balcony on the street. The breakfasts were not included but for 5 euros, were good. Ask for good rooms

Fantastic stay

Thomar Story Guest House was such a pleasant surprise. Completely Renovated and just so comfortable. We were in a room that had a kitchenette, only drawback it was on the 3rd floor! (No lift) but the ambiance more than made up for the climb with heavy bags, which the girls at the front desk offered to carry up. Appreciated the Nespresso machine and pods. Arriving early they didn’t hesitate to allow early checkin. In fact the staff couldn’t do enough to help make our short stay memorable. Ample free parking nearby just across the river. Whole heartedly recommend

This place is centrally located. We really enjoyed Thomar. The hotel is adequate and reasonably priced. Breakfast wasn't included but for 5.00 EU extra a simple breakfast was available. We like this place and would stay there again.

The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. The room had the AC, its own bathroom and a small kitchen with everything needed. Everything was sparking clean. Beautiful hotel, perfect location

Sadly we only had 1 night at this beautiful hotel - we should have stayed longer. Centrally located, with Castle views and beautifully finished rooms, it was spotlessly clean and managed by friendly and incredibly helpful staff. If you only stay in 1 place in Tomar, make it Thomar Story - it really was perfect!

Hotel in centre of lovely Tomar Portugal

Location very good but no parking and local free parking not secure. Hotel is not manned at night and therefore no services after 8:00pm in the UK a hotel would be manned 24/7. On the plus side very modern clean well equipped as a self contained apartment which would be a better name

Lovely place to stay. Near to a beautiful walk, the old town and 20 minutes from the Templar Castle.

Great hotel and perfectly situation for all sights to see.. I was in room 33. With a Kitchenette. Great for making a cuppa or a snack. Clean through the hotel. Breakfast was an adequate continental style. Beds were very hard so had to lay on the sheets and use a blanket over me. That’s the only issue but everyone’s different . As I leave the hotel turn left and a very short distance away on the same sidebar is a lovely andcheap cafe called orchestra de ... cant remember the name! They do delicious toasties at €2.30 ! Recommended..

Very clean and modern hotel. The room was spotless and comfortable. The staff was friendly. The location was perfect for touring the old part of town. The breakfast was a good value at 5 Euros. There are two drawbacks that keep me from giving it a 5 star rating. One, it was a three story walk up to our room, which was difficult with heavy suitcases. Two, the hotel was on a busy road with no driveway which made unloading and loading luggage difficult, and there is only public surface parking a few blocks away. Despite this it was a good value and a comfortable stay.

Bright room with plenty of space. Comfortable beds. Good location. Parking a bit of a distance to pull luggage over cobblestones. For the price, a good option. Nice check in staff.

Modern and centric

Close to interesting sites, this small hotel is modern and new feeling. The bathroom had good hot water and was beautiful, clean and modern. There was a good view of the castle. The bed position is a bit odd, but the bed was comfortable. It could use another chair and waste bin. Very nice staff

Perfect place to stay

Loved everything about this little house! We were greeted as best friends not as guests who are staying one night. Our room was clean, well prepared for the stay. We enjoyed the night there.

Don't miss this place.

Loved this accommodation - it was stupendous. We are very sad that we could not stay longer. Tomar may not be Evora or Coimbra, or any of the other 'must see' towns of Portugal, but it is still lovely. The Templar Knights Castle at the top does of course top every tourist attraction. Hands down. In our opinions anyway.

This guesthouse was great! The room was big and clean. Very convenient location and the staff was helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend staying here.

Clean, conveniently located hotel

Clean, stylish, and reasonably priced hotel in the core of historic Tomar. Wifi in room (unlike many other hotels we stayed at in Portugal). We didn't opt for breakfast (offered for €5), but went to a local pastelaria instead. There was free parking across the river, about a 5 to 10 minute walk away. We stayed in Tomar to visit the Convent of Christ, a Unesco World Heritage site.

Wedding anniversary surprise

Good location, double bed was a bit small. Room was comfy, good wifi. I recommend taking the breakfast they offer for €5 cause it's good value for money. Only thing is it starts only at 8.30. It was our 20th wedding anniversary and they surprised us with a huge love heart made with red little petals over our bed, which was extra special and we were thankful for that. Great location.

Recently refurbished hotel so clean and modern, close to town square and restaurants, nice friendly staff, good optional breakfast at reasonable cost. No lift so ask for room on lower floors if a problem though staff will help with bags. We had view of castle and some rooms overlook river. Very comfortable stay.

Tomar Hotel

About 10 minutes easy walk from the train station, this is a nice modern small hotel/guesthouse. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice room with modern bathroom, including a good rain shower. Good strong air-conditioner. Slightly lump bed. Breakfast buffet is cold only but reasonable choices. Short walk into town and restaurants in the area.

Great location!

Very good small hotel. In very good condition with a washroom that looked brand new. Bed was comfortable. Staff was helpful and accommodating. The only thing to be aware of is there is no elevator and the stairs are quite narrow so its a bit tricky if you have a large bag. Definitely would recommend.
