Old bones given new life

This us a very old property in a very lovely town. The new management has done an admirable job of dressing it up, but the bones are still "old". The staff are all very friendly and try very hard to please.

This is the fourth time I’ve stayed here. The last two have been drastic improvements. The refurbishments are obvious. The character of the bldg is somewhat respected. The staff are kind. The room is fresh. And the complimentary treats were a pleasant surprise. Love being downtown. Thank you. Will be back again.

The room is what you would expect in an older building as far as size. It was clean and comfortable. But, according to the Expedia ad all rooms are queen or king. Our bed was a double. Also the ad says are room are accessible by elevator and my wife is currently using crutches. Room 221 and several others are up 12 steps after the elevator. We were told we could pay an additional $50 for an accessible room. Not cool.

The hotel was perfect. The only down fall was the restaurant was closed, however the espresso machine in the room more than made up for it.

Lovely stay in Stratford

Since I am currently having mobility issues from an injury, the staff quickly helped us get our luggage out of the car and up to our room and the same when we left, they helped us get the luggage packed in our car. We also received a beautiful treat in our room for our anniversary celebration. The room was clean and beautiful, not to mention the great proximity to the theater and downtown Stratford.

We chose this hotel because of the proximity to the theatre and some great dining options that were walkable. We thought the location was perfect for that. The staff were terrific. The only downside for us was that the room was smaller than we expected. It would have been perfect for an overnight but we stayed for two nights so found the size to be a bit of an issue the second day.. We loved the breakfast box in the room. The bed was very comfy and we had two good night's sleep. We enjoyed our stay.

Amenities need updating especially toilets but I was assured that a Reno was in the future. The staff were most accommodating and friendly. Location for exploring on foot was perfect. Parking on site with a reservation or nearby and free.

The place looked newly renovated, but it was very dirty. There were many flies around, dead bugs on the floor, and stains. We don’t think the sheets were cleaned or changed before we arrived. They did change the sheets on our last night, so we had one night where it felt fresher. The restaurant was closed, but the room included a continental breakfast, so we received breakfast boxes in our room instead—however, they were not allergy-friendly! Be sure to notify them about any allergies in advance. Breakfast boxes included a muffin(nut muffin or blueberry muffin), yogurt, and a mandarin orange. Check-in was fine, but nothing special. The lady who gave us new sheets on the last night was very kind and offered excellent service—thank you! Otherwise, we’ll probably book elsewhere next time. The location is good, though. Parking needs to be reserved, or they offer a “sister lot” at another hotel. We opted for the free parking lot about a 5-minute walk away. The room at the front is convenient for parking and checking in/out.

The staff are welcoming and efficient for this conveniently located hotel. Rooms are clean and well-appointed. Great for theater goers!

Staff were friendly helpful. Room was fantastic. We needed 3 beds and expected to get a room with 3 beds in it, what we got was a small condo. 3 separate bedrooms full kitchen large living and dining area. It was really great. It was very spacious and quiet. The parking was very convenient too. Would stay here again anytime

The location is the best in Stratford, especially if you can secure parking in their lot. The facilities are old but reasonably comfortable. Staff was very accommodating. The experience will improve when they reopen the restaurant for breakfast.

Enjoyed our stay

We enjoyed our stay at the Windsor Hotel. This legacy hotel has been renovated to be stylish and comfortable. While food service was limited to a breakfast box, it was high-quality. There are lots of places for a hot breakfast close by if desired. The location of the hotel can’t be beat, as it is just steps to downtown and many restaurants and to the theaters.

The hotel is old so the bathroom was very small but clean. The late afternoon snack and continental breakfast were a surprise.

Where to start. It may not be the hotel’s fault, but maybe Expedia’s app, but it says there is parking. The entire reason I booked this boutique hotel was for parking. So I could walk to the theatres and then get to my car after my final show. But somewhere in the fine print (but that doesn’t really matter now?) you have to reserve that otherwise you have to haul your stuff to a local, remote public parking place covered in rocks and gravel. Yes, first world problems. But for this price? The rooms are so-so. Wild mix of modern updated things with the old remnants of the Albert hotel. You get texts asking about your stay, you get a small box of breakfast put outside your door, and they make a BIG deal about putting a small egg in your mini-fridge, but all in all, and I hate to be critical, it’s not worth the price. I think I lay more blame at Expedia’s feet than this place. But….what does it matter now.

Our reservation was very much last minute and we got a tiny room. They have quite a few of that size, and the bathroom is hardly manageable. We'll definitely stay on our next visit but will make sure to reserve way ahead and request a larger room. It's the perfect location in Stratford, and the staff is very friendly.

Location was excellent for walking everywhere. Room was quiet and adequate size. All of the soap dispensers was poor and made it hard to get soap out. Front desk was friendly and accommodating.

Enjoyed our stay here, but a good hotel has coffee in the morning. An Expresso machine does not fit the bill. A coffee machine in the room would be ok, but even better would be hot coffee in the lobby.

We stayed for 2 nights in early August. The hotel is in the process of renovations but not to worry - they do that during the winter months. You can walk to all the Stratford theatres & downtown, thus easy access to restaurants. Our room was clean, as was the hotel hallways & public areas. If their parking lot is full there is a public paid parking lot across the street Next time in Stratford, I know where to stay!

Nicely renovated older property in a great location!

Pleasant accommodations.

Our room was very clean which is very important to us. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. We had as promised, a boxed breakfast at our door at 8:00am. The staff were very helpful, and friendly, which is also very important to us. Abhavinh was dressed professionally and was very helpful to us this morning.

I requested an accessible room and was told this could be accommodated. Through there was an elevator to the 2nd floor, the room was entirely inaccessible, ie., the bathroom could not be reached using a walker; the room was too small for a walker anyway; the shower was not accessible; and there were no safety bars in the bathroom to aid in one getting up from the toilet. In addition to these hazards, water could not be drained from the bathroom sink. We were told that a plumber would come that afternoon. They apparently did come, however, by our 2nd night the water continued to back up and the pipes started to leak quite badly. Thankfully a plumber came to our room at 8:30 pm. The problems were temporarily solved but our evening was disrupted. All this being said, the hotel staff were gracious and friendly.

We were messaged prior to arriving to let us know how to make our check-in easier. When we arrive, there were birthday surprises in the room for my daughter, including chocolate cake! Staff extremely friendly and helpful and even carried our luggage to the room. Check out we were surprised to find a take out breakfast delivered to our door. The bed was very comfortable, everything was very clean, and we would highly recommend to anyone!

The room we booked had three bedrooms, which were very clean and spacious. The open space living and dining room was huge and the kitchen was well equipped. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again on our next visit to Stratford. Diana M.

Good reception, very nice and accommodating staff. Expensive but not delivering what was advertised. Room like in the cheap motel. Not worth the money paid.

The property is central to so much in town. It’s been through some big renovations and it shows, the room we stayed in was spacious and comfortable. However, the only fault I encountered was the lack of ventilation makes the room muggy when showering.

So disappointed

The service was really nice but our room smelled so moldy and was so damp. The AC didn't help even though we ran out the whole time. Our clothes were damp as we packed up. Our bathroom looked nothing like the pictures online but was small like an airplane bathroom with a rust stained tub. There was nowhere to even set down toiletries, it was that small. Because of the dampness, the door to the washroom didn't fully shut. The walls are paper thin and you hear everyone around you. The doors all slam. We were so looking forward to this night away but I'm afraid it didn't live up to what we hoped. It was not worth the pricetag.

We enjoyed a nice weekend in Stratford. The Windsor hotel is a nice place to stay. Staff is friendly and helpful. The corner room was nice and bright. The bed was ok. Bathroom was small but functional, not a lot of storage space. The stocked mini fridge was a nice touch. Very close to restaurants and shops. Also an easy 15 minute walk to the Festival theater. Overall we were happy with our experience here.

We had a wonderful stay at the Windsor Hotel in Stratford! Saloni, Ankit, Avivas, and Kayla were kind and accommodating, making sure we were comfortable in our room. The hotel was very clean and housekeeping was great. Parking was easy and the hotel was within walking distance to every venue we needed. We will be back!

The location was perfect for what we wanted to do, see and experience.The staff were courteous, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The Windsor made our family trip feel like home away from home. We will be back to visit with The Windsor as apart of our next Stratford trip.

The staff made my children feel like princesses and treated them the same as myself. The Windsor made our family trip warm and feel like home. We will gladly support hoco hotels always and I urge everyone looking to book to check out The Windsor for themselves. We will definetly always use The Windsor as apart of our Stratford trips and look forward to staying in other locations of theirs.

We’ve been going to Stratford since 2009 and stayed at most of the hotel in the “downtown” area. The amount of improvements the Windsor has committed to has been amazing to see and experience. They have updated the older rooms to make them not only aesthetically pleasing but comfortable. Nepresso coffee maker, complimentary water and pop available in the rooms. They even had complimentary maple butter to take home when we stayed over Canada Day! The staff is very friendly and will escort you to your door to make sure you have everything you need and can operate the keyless entry. They also have a sweets bar (cookies, chocolates and candy) by the lobby to indulge your sweet tooth. The last time we stayed there (maybe a year ago) they have updated the bathrooms and showers which was the only “first world problem” we had with our last stay. It’s amazing now! Bang for your buck the Windsor is a place to stay not only just for one night for extended stays compared to some other places. You can’t beat its convenience when exploring the city or heading to the many Stratford theaters. Give the Windsor a try.

The Windsor Hotel in Stratford was a wonderful place to stay for our three day visit over the recent long weekend. The newly renovated hotel is lovely, and the historic rooms have been upgraded with great attention to detail. More than the hotel itself, the owner and staff are outstanding. Tushar, one of the co-owners, went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that we were comfortable and well taken care of. Marou, Ankit and Kayla were excellent as well. More than anything else, we felt like honoured guests in their home and we felt that we were appreciated. This is very rare these days. It's apparent that Tushar and his team set high standards and try to exceed them each and every day. I would highly recommend anyone visiting Stratford and wanting to stay in the centre of town, with walking access to theatres, shopping and great dining experiences, to stay here.

The hotel was not ready to open. The bathroom was not finished. There is a sofa in front of the front desk which is supposed to be a lobby. Expedia claimed the hotel served breakfast but the hotel is not prepared at this time to do so. The management informed us that they are working on building a kitchen. The staff were friendly but none of them had ever had a meal in Stratford. They knew nothing about the town: restaurants, convenience stores. There are other properties in Stratford that I wish I had booked. I will no longer use Expedia - I do not trust the you do your research on properties.

Lovely Heritage building with character.

Dissapointed

From what I hear the Windsor Hotel is going in remodelation, as such it was not available. The hotel where they moved me, while it was a suite did not have elevator, and the Windsor did. I find the trick they used, innapropriate. My complements to the general manager Kayla, who did the best to manage the situation. But I do believe the switching of hotels is not something you expect.

The day before check-in, we were told they couldn't accommodate us at The Windsor Hotel and we were moved to another hotel: The Stratford Hotel. They'd already taken full payment, 7 days before our check-in date plus, with so little time left before our scheduled arrival, what choice did we have? They upgraded our room for the inconvenience, but it wasn't what we would've wanted ... had we been able to choose for ourselves.

First Time Stay

We understand the hotel is under updating. Attention should be paid to the quality of painting. Electrical box sitting outside of the baseboard. No radio or phone in the room. NO WIFI AVAILABILITY. I am not going into the hall to use Wifi for personal or business use. Take note of your Fire Extinguisher examination card. 2021?????? So those are the negatives. On the positive side our room was small (that is what I booked) it was very very clean and well stocked. The staff at this Hotel are AWESOME. My husband and I are an older couple. The staff showed respect and consideration of our limitations. They offered to help with luggage to our rooms, help with Wifi, supper recommendations, concern to keep the front entry clean, the night staff gentleman came to our door with a wake up call at 5:30 am when his call would not go through my cell (won't ring me with an unrecognizable incoming number). That same person walked me, with my luggage (while my disabled husband could wait in a warm entry) to the (very dark at 6:00am) parking lot and placed same luggage into my SUV. He was awesome!!!!!! If you can elevate your renovations to the level of quality of the staff you have a WINNER!

The property is seasoned. The room was very large with 2 double beds. My concern was the Expedia booking. I was told by the hotel I could not book direct so I used Expedia then when I called the hotel with a change I was told to call Expedia. At check in the change had not been forwarded to the Hotel and somehow that was mine to own because I booked through Expedia? The room charges were charged to my credit card Nov 9 for a stay Nov 16-19. In addition $500/ per room security deposit(we had 3 rooms). The rooms were guaranteed on 1 credit card intending for each room to pay at time of check-in this could not be done as the payment was put through 5 days ahead. The concern from the hotel perspective was hotel policy or Expedia policy. Little concern about the customer. The hotel was great our stay was great, Stratford was what we expected. Hotel staff were great but unconcerned that close to $2500 for 3 rooms for 3. nights was charged to my cr card at the start of a Christmas shopping weekend. The responsibility fell to me to collect from my group. This was the biggest disappointment the internal management became my problem.

Stayed 2 nights, first day went shopping bought 3 pretty bars of handmade soap, 2nd day while out someone was sent to the room to check a loose mirror in the bathroom and when we were packing that afternoon the 3 bars of soap were not to be found. The attitude of the staff at this point was not helpful and we did not get our soap bars or any compensation. Very disappointing. Also the shower was not reliable and the bathroom not adequate.

We had a wonderful time in Stratford and will most defiantly be returning.
