Great Deal Near OSU

This place was my "go to" for a number of years because it is so cheap and close to Ohio State Campus, Lennox Towne Center, the Grandview area, etc. Then it started really going downhill. The new owners have fixed it up -- particularly the rooms, which have been renovated and updated and are very nice! I also love the addition of The Crimson Cup -- you get a free breakfast sandwich and a drip coffee when you stay. The staff are always friendly. I think this place is a great deal!

OSU Football trip

The room was very clean, recently remodeled, and well stocked with all necessities. The free coffee and breakfast sandwich from Crimson Coffee is an added plus. Walkable to Ohio Stadium.

Excellent, going and coming

We liked our stay so well when going that wedeliberately chose this property when we were returning home. Clean, high qualit fictures that worked (drains drained, faucets worked properly, tv and remote clean and functional, quiet well running heater, etc) and nice fresh lenins. All this at a competitivereasonable price.

Perfect place to stay while we were in for the weekend to watch Buckeye game. Everything was in walking distance. Room was clean. Staff friendly. Loved the crimson coffee shop there at the inn. Highly recommend. We will be back.

This is an updated older motel, but was nicely updated and very friendly staff. Walked to Buckeyes game from here. I give it 5 stars for exactly what it is…if you’re wanting workout area and pool this is not for you. But for a short stay it’s perfect. The coffee shop is great too!

Great motel with basic amenities. Rooms are updated and comfortable, property is within walking distance to many restaurants and shopping. Room rates are very reasonable in comparison with neighboring properties. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice room and staff!

Adequately sized, clean room. The beds were comfortable with quality bedding. The bathroom linen was of obviously quality with great thickness and texture. The shower was clean with amazing water pressure. There was ample hot water to spare. Check in was efficient and the clerk was attentive and friendly. I enjoyed my stay and would certainly stay again.

Was great for the night we stayed, front desk lady seemed inconvenienced when I checked in. Parking to office was non existent and there is no clear signage for its location. I circled the facility a couple times for parking and looking for the office.

Close to OSU stadium. Good restaurant in the vicinity. Good coffee in room and in their cafe.

Rude Goth Girl

The girl that works the coffee bar and check out was rude!

We had a great stay from start to finish! The night staff Alley made the trip even better. She was very professional and knowledgeable! She really helped us. The tv's were nice, the showers were loved by my family, and we loved how there was a cafe attached. We will definitely be going back!

Convenient, clean, easy hotel to pop in for a night! I like that it’s dog friendly. The only thing missing is more green space for dogs. Otherwise, it’s great and I do recommend!

What a great place to stay while visiting my son at OSU. Clean, quite, and great location.

We booked this hotel to be within walking distance for an Ohio State FB game. Location was walkable within 1.1 miles of the stadium. Short uber ride to bars & restaurants on High Street. Staff was very friendly. Lots of stores & restaurants close by. Room was clean. Complimentary breakfast sandwich & coffee. Would definitely stay again..

I enjoyed the room. It was perfect but there were some troubling incidents. The lock on door failed and we were locked out for over 45 minutes while various methods were tried to open the door. Finally they replaced the batteries and it worked. Why was that done first. I ended up missing my 9am appointment that I had already paid for. Upon returning to our room around 5 pm the door was unlocked and open. Evidently when maid service came to freshen the room they left the room unlocked. So from about 9 am until 5 the door wasn’t secure. And upon checking out this morning I requested a printed receipt. I was told that they couldn’t print because the printer was out of black ink and no one there could get the ink. Room was great but service was not.

Great overnight stay!

We came into town for a show. We have never stayed here, but the location and price were awesome. I want to give a huge shout out to Sam. He checked us in and was very accommodating! The breakfast sandwiches and the gals in the coffee shop were outstanding! We left this morning vowing it would be the only place we need to consider for future stays!

Good value budget hotel in decent location if you’re going in to the city. Staff friendly and helpful. Easy to get Ubers nearby.

The room was decent I was just surprised that it was actually a motel and not a hotel. I am not a fan of motels. I believe the listing referred to it as a hotel. The coffee shop attached to the motel was nice; the coffee was good as was the breakfast sandwich, which were included in our room rate and was a nice addition

Our stay was great for the Buckeyes game! We could easily walk to the stadium. The room was clean and conveniently located. Brenz pizza was a great pickup option after the game! Also, every guest in your room gets a free breakfast sandwich and black coffee for each night’s stay!

Nice hotel near The James

We were happy to find a hotel close to The James. It provided an easy access for an early surgery date. Nice facility with a restaurant next door.

OSU Visit

Staff was very professional. Room was clean and well kept. Didn't hear any trains or road traffic. Parked our car right outside our room. Easy walk to Ohio State Stadium.

Who is clean and comfortable and well priced compared to the other lodging places around. I would return.

Friendly staff, nice little place!

Staff were friendly and pleasant, loved having the coffee shop next door, rooms were comfortable and clean with plenty of space. Nothing fancy, but beats a lot of motels I’ve stayed at with more “stars”!

Clean and recently updated

Super clean room, recently updated bathroom and the bed and linens all very clean. Motel has Crimson Cup coffee in the lobby and a breakfast sandwich and coffee is included with the stay. Pet Friendly for $10 surcharge. The only drawbacks were that there's not even a chair in the room lol (room is quite small and the bed is HUGE) and they dont have black out curtains, and the huge flashing billboard on one side of the motel might make it hard for people to sleep. It is also right next to a frieght line, but the trains are infrequent and do not whistle. One of the best stays in Columbus for the price right now in my opinion

Small, but Clean Room

It was a small, but clean room. The train tracks right outside our room woke us up once, but other than that it was a good stay.

Great affordable business stay option in accessible location

Our stay was great. Only problem was the train tracks on one side of us and the busy street on the other. Was given a free breakfast sandwich and coffee in the morning and we weren’t charged for our dogs to stay either.

Room was very clean, newley remodeled. Very close to OSU campus and Hospital. Free parking, good breakfast.

I'm not one for motels as they generally make me feel less safe over hotels. However, we enjoyed our stay here, the room was clean, the space was quiet, beds were comfy, staff were nice, and complimentary breakfast sandwich and coffee were both really good. Would recommend for an affordable stay!

The coffee shop/lobby was very confusing. Needs to be a sign. Shower head was broken. Dirty shower floor.

It was clean and comfortable, only stayed one night but would definitely come back.

One of the best showers of any hotel I've ever stayed at -- just the strongest, most cleansing water pressure, and with invigorating spearmint eucalyptus bath products for an added spa-like experience. Room was clean and comfy, and we REALLY appreciated the free coffee and breakfast sandwiches in the morning. 10/10, would stay again!

Amazing stay! I was reminded about the convenience of a motor inn and parking the car right outside the door. Such a clean and quiet room. Everything recently updated. I highly recommend for a nice overnight stay.

The rooms were very clean and well decorated. We would definitely stay there again if in the area. The free breakfast sandwiches and coffees were a plus!

A good night in a nicely rennovated room

After remodel the outside still looks a bit low rent but the interior has been nicely renovated with a modern look new furniture and bedding - The name is horrible “Olentangy Motor Inn” and to most it will always be the Varsity Inn but i would definitely stay again its super convenient to downtown and local shopping and was a comfortable nights stay! the only thing i didn’t love was i missed the free breakfast sandwich 😅

Nice room. Breakfast is at the attached Crimson Cup with a breakfast sandwich and cup of coffee. This is far better than most motel free breakfast offerings (IMHO).

My room was practically on the train track! When a train went by the room trembled. Not worth yhe night of lost sleep.

This hotel looks and feels different than your average hotel. It has a uniqueness about it. There is a drive thru coffee shop attached to the hotel. You can also walk inside the coffee shop, which is the same place you check in & out of the hotel. No hotel lobby whatsoever. Upon arrival we ordered from the coffee shop. Our frozen coffee drinks tasted incredible! Our bagels were little tough/chewy. The place was cute. Super fun lamp shade and wallpaper in the room. The room was very clean. I always check beds for cleanliness and bed bugs before I bring my stuff inside. Everything looked great. A few downsides worth mentioning: the parking spaces are directly in front of the doors which is super convenient but proved to be extremely disturbing to my sleep when people were talking loudly, laughing, and setting/unsetting car alarms at 5 a.m. The window shade lets in ALL the daylight and you can see the faces of people walking by the window. However, I couldn't really see INTO the room from outside, thankfully. Two teeny tiny trash cans: one by the entry door and one in the bathroom area. Both were very small and we definitely had trash overflowing in much less than 24 hours. We ordered from the coffee shop again upon checking out. Both our drinks were tasty and the breakfast sandwiches were delicious. Service was slow because people are ordering inside the shop plus in the drive thru and they didn't seem to be staffed enough to handle all of the business they were getting.

Olentangy Motor Inn is a winner!

We just needed a room to stay for the night while n Columbus and the Olentangy Motor Inn fit the bill. The room was super clean and modern - looks like it was just remodeled. And the excellent local coffee and breakfast sandwich for free was a nice touch! Overall really good deal.

Super cute n clean retro style motel with free breakfast. Was only a 2 min drive to the dorms for movin day.

Everything was good. Room spotless clean. Good towels and linen. Bed was a bit uncomfortable. (very hard). Lovely shower with excellent pressure. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Good coffee available on the premises. Staircases, walkways and area in front of lobby may need a good scrubbing. All in all a very good stay at a reasonable price compared to properties in the area.

I’ve stayed at various higher end Columbus hotels over the last year with my daughter being at OSU. For the cost and location you cannot beat this place. Clean, modern, everything you need for a short stay. All staff we interacted with were friendly and eager to assist even at 930 pm ! Complimentary breakfast sandwiches were great, coffee was also pretty good. We were def a bit apprehensive because it’s a small motel but are sure glad we gave it a chance !

Noisy location

The motor in had a railroad tracks behind it with active trains. And the parking lot was shared with a Bob Evan’s.. with numerous trucks pulling in and out. Plus there was a very noisy room air conditioner. We hardly slept at all!

It was pet friendly, the room was clean, and the show had great pressure. We walked to a nearby restaurant and also the the event we were in town for. We plan on staying there again in the future.

Staff was very polite and helpful. The coffee shop had amazing coffee. The room is perfect for the price and pb doughs delivers till 4am!

Concert stay

This was perfect for our stay when going to a concert at the Schott. It was clean, offers morning breakfast, has a cute coffee shop, and was a short ride away from the venue. Beds were comfortable and the shower was nice. Would definitely stay again!

Affordable and easy access to everything

Room was very clean and somewhat comfy but not by fault of the Hotel(all due to our own issues we have with ourselves) Breakfast was amazing and was glad to have a morning drink that I usually can't get anywhere else. Definitely worth the money we paid and Thankful that my husband found it.

Room was decent. No front desk you go to the coffee shop but no signage to tell you that. Room was missing hair dryer but front desk could not get me one.

The price of this facility is a far cry compared to the amenity .the facility is just like short time motel,smell of weed and dirty environment to crown it all the staff were not friendly.

Great find near Ohio State

Great little find near OSU. Rooms were small, but certainly provided all we needed. Breakfast was a choice of two different breakfast sandwiches and a small coffee, all of which were very good. It is an older hotel, but the rooms have all been updated. Check in is in the coffee/ice cream shop!

Within walking distance to the Ohio Stadium and a shopping mall. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The property was really clean and well-maintained. The room was fantastic for the price. The breakfast sandwiches included with our stay were delicious.

Don't let the name "Motor Inn" scare you. For the price this is an excellent property. Rooms are modern and updated.
