Taaras organises everything, has their own recreation team and is just the perfect place to relax and enjoy some of the clearest and warmest waters Malaysia has to offer.
Highly recommended.. worth the money spent!
Hands down the best beach for lounging all day. If you love nothing more than just spending the entire day by the beach in complete privacy, this is the place to be.
the view of the hotel beach is fantastic.
Overall, great place to beach vacation. The water was really clear and warm but not too warm, just right. The one thing that I did not like was the bed. It was very hard; I woke up with a stiff neck. Other than that, amazing place to vacation.
Fantastic staff; service was excellent. What led my rating for the resort down especially with regards to eco friendliness was that smoking is still generally allowed, even in beachside where kids play
All restaurants close at 22:30 and room service
There's just so much good things about Taaras to be told that I don't think I can say everything here. Let me start by saying the staff are all very (I can't find a word for it)...they just make you feel like they've known you for so long like a long lost friend. Their attentiveness, always ready to help you with everything, their smiles, their friendliness. It's as if you're that one special guest that they've been waiting for so long. Kudos to the management for instilling that beautiful attitude throughout the entire team. Thank you Amira for helping me out with the booking and all. Special mentioning of Azimah for making my wife's birthday celebration a memorable one. Thank you Daniel and Suhaili for being so helpful and attentive through out the celebration. Thank you all. The beach, the sand, the wave. Just out of this world. My family and I come from the West Coast of Peninsula Malaysia and we know we've just spoiled ourselves as after this, we might be unfairly comparing the beaches here and in Redang. We went for snorkeling too among some of the activities. First timers as we are, it's a lie if I say we were not nervous no matter how excited we were. But the moment you look down at the corals and the busy schools of fish, you will be mesmerized by them that you'll easily lose that sense of time. Needless to say my family and I will definitely come back here, Insya Allah
The place very clean. Only buggy late when peak time. Overall i love it ❤️
The hotel is overpriced and old. The location is amazing and the natural resources and beach front saves it. Otherwise bad service, old, overpriced and
Over Price, Expensive food with no quality, terrible service, dirty rooms
Private beach & crystal clear waters
Overall good stay. The private beach and crystal clear waters are the main attraction here. Friendly & accommodating staff, they try their best to give good service amidst a fully occupancy weekend. Rooms are decently maintained although a little dated. Food is pricey but yummy with big portions - try their room service!
beautiful property and the staff is excellent. The beaches are excellent. There are 17 plus turtles to swim with every morning. The water is warm and clear. ATV's are a kick.
Nice enough place. Long drive from Penang, 7 hours. Rooms good, food good, activities good but none of these rank as 5 star. The attraction has to be the powder sand beach, crystal clear water and good snorkelling and diving options. That should be enough for those so inclined.
True clear waters and nice sandy beach
On a family trip to farewell our two years journey in Malaysia and we couldn't find a better place to do it. Taaras high side is the Caribbean style location, white sandy beach, and nice transparent water. The hotel is not like in caribe, a bit outdated (rooms) and some people may complain about cleanness, but if you trade off for the location and the fun outdoor activities this is an amazing place
Excellent resort - but the food a rip off
Resort is very nice and the staff are friendly. Just expect to pay through the nose for food, drink and transfers. 4 night stay was 1k USD for the room with breakfast but the total bill was 2k USD...
Hits and Misses
We stayed at Taaras for my fiancé’s 30th birthday. It was a combination of hits and misses. Whilst the hotel itself, activities and beach were amazing, as a luxury hotel it disappoints in terms of service and food. Food is far below what is expected from a luxury hotel, for the price quoted. It was highly disappointing. Food tasted and we’re presented as more like canteen food than something to be served in a hotel carrying such a star rating. Service at the restaurants and bar have much to be improved on. We’ve seen numerous occasions of chaos and disorganisation. The staff lacks attentiveness and we found ourselves hunting for attention from time to time. We also noted that the paper that the hotel used to print our map of the resort had the receipt of a past guest on the other side of the paper (with name, address and all!). A huge breach from a PDPA standpoint and a definitely not something you’d expect from a luxury hotel. Lastly, the hotel forgot to provide a cake for my fiancé in the room. I’ve emailed them before arriving and they said they will leave a complementary cake in the room, but it never arrived. It all falls back to my point above, ie lack of attentiveness by the staff. FYI - They know it’s my fiancé’s birthday from my emails and her passport info. Also, they even provided an arrangement on the bed stating Happy Birthday. This oversight is clearly clumsy at best. Notwithstanding the above, the dive team was great.
Fun trip amidst COVID19 restrictions
We made a trip recently to this beautiful resort. It was a trip with 6 families with kids from 8yo to 1yo. We had a pleasant experience. Massage service was wonderful; we had a 20% discount at non peak period. Pool is very kid-friendly with plenty of shallow areas, so we are able to leave the kids alone under supervision from the poolside. Would like it if we have more deck chairs by the pool; it gets taken up quite quickly. Beach is clean, private, calm waters, plenty of deck chairs and shaded area. You can definitely swim around the area with the turtle bay just next to it. They have daily turtle hatchling release; where you pay a fee to release one on your own; else you can stand by the side and watch. I find that the Jojo Playroom is abit too cold for the kids; would like it more if there's more activities planned for the kids in the playroom. Probably my least favourite part of the trip is the food in the hotel; not all dishes to my liking and during breakfast time, the restaurant cannot cope with the crowd, therefore long line at the egg station. Weird enough, their beef dishes are always the more delicious dish during my meals there. You may also opt to eat out; there's one restaurant just outside the gate with more restaurants further down the road. Passenger transfer to jetty was seamless; impressed with their efficiency. Staff members in the hotel are always helpful and smiling. Overall it was a good experience and I'd visit again sometime.
Beautiful place but watch out for the monkeys!
We had a lovely time here however there were a few disappointments. Did not see much social distancing and the breakfast was too crowded with many not following SOP procedures. Some guests crossed the barriers and qere taking their own food from the buffet. Not enough staff to handle the crowd and food was either too salty or bland. The worst was when monkeys got into our room and ransacked our snacks and no one had the courtesy to inform us of the incident. No phone call or note left. We only found out when we got back to the room at the end of the day...we thought we had been robbed! We had made sure and double checked everything was closed tight and locked before we left as we saw the monkeys in the morning but hotel insisted they were in the room by the time housekeeping got in. I have no idea how they got in and the hotel could not explain either. When asked if it had happened before, they didn't reply. I didnt get any apology until i raised the same issue at check out. We weren't so upset about our things going missing, it was more about how the hotel dealt with the situation. Service at other places like the beach bar, turtle and recreation centre was good though. Just Keep all your things hidden and locked, dont have high hopes for breakfast and you should be able to have an enjoyable time!
Excellent stay
Fantastic stay, very luxurious. The only downside was that the Brassier was very expensive and the service and food was not worth the expense.
Beautiful beach and clear waters. But ultimately undone by strange policy to charge for water at the beach bar, and to offer a banana boat ice cream without bananas - right outside the hotel there are shops selling combs of bananas. Not allowing external transport to enter the lobby was also strange, as if the management did not see the island-wide tourism ecosystem as partners. Given we were here on promotional rates, I would not recommend at peak prices.
Excellent stay
We visited at a quiet time before the main season begins. The staff were the outstanding part of our stay. They couldn't be more friendly or helpful. Our room was excellent. You couldn't wish for a better beach.
Thanx for the upgrade we wet off season, so shop was closed, not much snorkelling options, no pontoon in water All inclusive not available Pricey transfer by boat, u can use public ferry from KT city for 75% less
Absolutely beautiful place
Very good beach with a cost
It is a fabulous, little exploited beach. Its blue lagoon is excellent. Good place for snorkelling and other underwater activities. Its an isolated resort with limited activities, especially in the late evening.
Rooms need better maintenance to see everything is functional before the customer checks in.
beautiful beach, great snorkeling, turtle sanctuary and research lab on property or close to property, comfy beds, beautiful rooms..had the ocean suite..worth it...
Every thing is perfect. I would highly recommend this beautiful hotel.
Excellent place...great view...kids friendly...reliable and supporting staff 💕...
Paradise beach
Taaras is beautifully located in a bay with crystal clear waters and the most gorgeous paradise beach! The property itself is luxurious and well maintained. The staff was very attentive and always eager to please. I was stuck at the beach bar one evening during heavy rain and the hotel sent a (covered) buggy to take me back to my room. But the best part was that I had forgotten my room number and the driver patiently drove me around until I recognised where I lived! On the downside, we wandered out one evening for food and found that the surrounding area could do with some maintainence. For instance, there is a strong odour due to sewage treatment (?) just beyond the the resort gates. Then, it's a little unfortunate the nearby "kampung" village seems so detached from the resort. Perhaps one can organise traditional arts/crafts-based activities to engage with visitors more? Still, what a wonderful family holiday! We will never forget it! Thank you Taaras (and the turtles)!
Perfect getaway
Making a trip to The Taaras was the best decision I made for a short get away. The service provided was excellent and I truly want to thank the staff of The Taaras for making my Redang experience memorable, special thanks to Fatimah and Zulriati (the ladies who helped check me in and out) for taking care of me and made an extra effort to make my stay comfortable since I was pregnant. I will never forget their warmth and hospitality, they are the reason why guests would come back to stay at this resort. The only downside is the food, it needs improvement and would be nice if the price is reasonable. They are expensive and for the most part, tasteless but edible. Overall, I highly recommend staying in The Taaras, you will be mesmerized by the beauty of the beach and enjoyed the hospitality from all the staff. Sincerely, Nabila Zinal
Superb holiday at the taaras beach beach and spa
I would say that the taaras staff was super duper incredible .. no bias between asian n european .. they treat us well !! I would like to name few staff such as mr rizal, mr ady, mr wafiy, mr zaidi, ms fatin, chef shah, mr helix, n not forgetting the taaras GM mr pravir mishra for being so humble, nice and accomodating .. these staffs has given the best service ever ... we stayed at bay cliff ocean view, the best view ever, the room was perfect, the beach was absolutely amazing, we paid for fullboard meals. The food was so delicious .. everything was fine n heaven, The recreational staff was helpful n friendly, i would definately come again very very soon ....
Beautiful sea, beach are very good. But restaurant service was too late. Hope to improve.
Unhappy with front office staff, Emily, upon check
The officer who received us upon arrival, Emily, was not capable in her job. When I asked her questions, she kept saying that I let her finished her briefing to me as she will tend to forget what she needed to say to me if I kept interrupting her with questions. I think she needed more training or not suitable to be in the frontline. Other than that, my family had a great time in Taaras. Thank God that Emily did not process our departure as I would have blown up in front of her
Amazing beach and rooms!
It was our 2nd visit and it is still awesome! The aircon in our room was faulty and they were so gracious to upgrade us from bay view to sea view room. It was Ah-maaaazing!! Will definitely come back for a third!
Beautiful setting with convenient snorkeling and activities. Private guide available to customize activities. Our guide Din took us through the jungle and snorkeling to see black tipped reef sharks which was my daughter's dream. He was great! We also very much enjoyed the spa experience. The service was excellent from the activities department, spa, restaurant servers, drivers and porters. My only negative comment was a notable difference in treatment from certain higher level staff based on ?room type or other preconceived bias.
Chance to swim with sea turtles
We made a last minute booking at the Taaras and was glad that we did. The hotel is fantastic and the staff all very kind and helpful. Resort has a very nice private beach and lots of activities. Highly recommend the snorkeling with sea turtles boat trip. Also at the hotel is a sea turtle research centre we were lucky and got to release a baby turtle into the sea. Drinks are expensive at the hotel. But happy hour go from 9pm to 11pm Food is too but there is a very nice local restaurant about a minute walk from the front gate. Breakast buffet served in the mornings with lots of variety. Apart from the hotelOnly place to buy alcahol is the main land due to local religion so if you do want to drink take some in your luggage
The view is amazing from this resort. The workout view is perfect and stunning! The staff quality could be better, and there's too much hidden cost
All toilets should have water. For Muslims, we need to wash properly after doing our “business” in the toilet. There is no water in the toilet. Malaysia is a Muslim country.
their private beach is absolutely beautiful. the views from the room and gym was stunning
The scenary
Best hotel in Redang 👍
A surprise to receive kids escape complementary package :) Excellent service👍Clear water and white sandy beach.
The private beach is very beautiful and the staff is very helpful and friendly
It was a full house but it didn’t feel crowded. Love the complimentary activities and the range of other activities provided at the hotel. The staff were very friendly, takes time to check on you and also remembers you. Only improvement point is food quality can be better. More vegetarian options at the various restaurants would be appreciated too.
This is 3rd time to stay. I really relaxed well. also yoga class! Hope to stay again!!!
Gorgeous Private Resort in South China Sea
Wonderful resort that is extremely family friendly. The staff at all levels was amazingly friendly, accommodating and helpful. The location is gorgeous, with crystal clear waters, serene private beach and plenty of activities you can sign-up for and enjoy and your own leisure. Rooms are very clean and the beds are very comfortable. Meals on-site are high quality as well. If you are ordering for non-family style, try out a single order first as the portions are very large and can usually be shared between 2 people. This is a true getaway vacation spot and I would highly recommend this resort to friends and family.
Beautiful Clean Beach
Beautiful place.. Beautiful staff... But the food selection is not up to standard.
White sand, crystal clear water, private beach!
2 nights getaway. Resort is exclusive w fine white sands & clear water. Got a twin hill beach way w fantastic view & wave sound. Room is large clean. Will certainly stay again.
Private beach and location is perfect
exceed expectation
1. Room view that we like. 2. Bit lack of reminder / information to guest... for example morning call to remind check-out time as boat arriving on what time. Even sometimes we as forgotten the boat schedule.
Sad experience
There should be transport available from lobby to the room for the guests all the time. Our room were quite far, up in the hill but nobody from the lobby or hotel offered us any buggy rides to room. We had to walk everytime which was very devastating for us especially with my twisted ankle.
Awesome
Everything was great except I think they should do something about their food quality. Couple of things like the fridge wasn’t cold at all, TV reception was quite bad. But despite all these we had a good time there. People at the dive center was extremely kind and helpful, they took great care of us during our dives.
I will never recommend this place to anyone...!!!
The island is really nice, but really let down by the service and facilities of the Hotel. They call them self 5 stars, what a joke. Food is so-so, if your there for 3 days then may be ok any more you will feel so sad. Food is limited and there are no shops to purchase snakes. Also forget about the SPA, one work CRAP. A massage = gentle stoking of the skin. WIFI is crap, it will not run youtube.
amazing stay at the most beautiful beach
We had an amazing stay at The Taaras celebrating a birthday - we stayed there for 4 nights, 2 nights at the garden suite and 2 nights at the cliff bay suites overlooking the beach. The view from the deep soaking bathtub from the cliff bay rooms are absolutely amazing, the best view ever. Rooms are spacious and well equipped, food is ok but the beach brasserie has good quality food, and if none of the options suit you there's a local place right outside the resort which has good seafood at a much cheaper price. The resort has lots of water sports facilities, you can even get your PADI license there, but just a note that some people may react badly to sea fleas which my boyfriend did, which is out of the hotel's control. There are great snorkeling sites just off the coast and most importantly crystal clear waters and white sand beaches! Service is amazing, everyone is kind and we had a wonderful time there. Thank you, Taaras!
Nice hotel with great scene and clear water
Can go snorkeling and turtle watching ... good food but don’t choose prawn and fish
Nice stay
Super awesome view. Love the gym area as you can see the sea and whole resort. Food is ok. Only thing is it is getting abit old
the hotel near to the beach, the best of private beach! recommended for the honeymoon trip.
Beautiful resort, quiet place, friendly staff, nice beach and they have offered a few options of the outdoor activities. However, we had a bad experience in the room no. 157 which is not clean enough on the bed sheet! We have been bitten by bed bugs on our skin and probably the bed sheet or blanket is not change?. The TV quality is not for the price we paid and not working well. Not much options at the restaurants and it is quite expensive compare to Laguna resort. I left my phone changer (Samsung) in the room and I have called the reception, unfortunately I have received a negative response from the staff (they not found it).
This resort and island is a MUST visit in Malaysia! The resort has its own private island that you can snorkel and swim around. We even found a baby shark in the resort beach! The activities provided are excellent and there’s always something to do!
Mr. Emad Badawi
Simply amazing place to stay at.
Nice hotel very close to the beach. The staff guy from Langkawi was helpful and welcoming. Our room is upgraded into Deluxe Cliff which we really appreciate. The view was magnificent. Perfect location for honeymoon. The turtle research that runs by the undergraduate student is once in a lifetime experience. I would love to come back with my big family.
Another summer vacation destination
A wonderful summer holiday destination for families with children. The private beach is really tranquil , with fine white sand.
Nice hotel
Beautiful private beach with attentive hotel staff. The room was clean and comfortable.
Love Redang
The beach is amazing. Best sand ever and warm seas good for snorkelling. Swimming with turtles fantastic experience. Staff very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Special mention for Amin and Yuda for being so helpful
Lovely resort with beautiful beach
Had a lovely time - the staff were friendly and accommodating. Our room was very comfortable and spacious- would suggest you go for the Hill Deluxe rooms even though they are a little more pricey because the view is fantastic! The beach was one of the best I’ve ever been to! Don’t miss snorkelling with the turtles!
Awesome Beach
Awesome private beach. Like a giant size 500meter x 200meter salt-water swimming pool F&B is the main killing point that definitely need serious improvement
Beautiful Beach 🏖
Arrangements of land transfer and boat travel was excellent. The sea was not so rough and reached to the resort uneventful. The room was a little bit old but clean with good amenities provided. Unfortunately aircondition made a lots of noise. Housekeeping activity needs to be improved especially on the timing (not after 4 pm to do the housekeeping) because it is very disturbing.... too many customers is NOT A GOOD EXCUSE. On one of the days we asked the housekeeper to just changed the towers and gave some bath gel.
A release holiday
Overall was a amazing trip. Really enjoy the crystal clear ocean water, clean n soft white sand beach. Colourful fishes surrounding you if you bring along bread to feed them. A quite and nice place to release.
Beautiful, stunning resort, our deluxe room was lovely but shame no view, balcony was not even used for this reason was not pleasant to sit out. Could get expensive to eat & drink here the whole time of your holiday, but not much choice of restaurants out of complex! Staff all lovely, specially yoda @ beach bar!,But all in all gorgeous!
Great Beach Terrible Food
Great Beach Great Staff Mediocre but Clean Rooms Terrible & Expensive Food
Amazing beach
The journey was pleasant. We took the public ferry from Shahbandar jetty. Was fetched from the kampung jetty, right on the jetty. Despite arriving early, at 1230pm, we were allowed for early check-in. The check in was quick. Was served with cold refreshing drink and cold towel upon arrival. Room was clean. We choose the bayview room and the view was breathtaking. In room service was ok, food wasnt that great. We went for snorkeling and turtle watching. Brought my 3 years old boy. He was ecstatic to see them turtles swimming around.
Beautiful beach. Hotel pretty bad
Room was dirty, mini bar didn´t work, security box didn´t work. Food menu very limited, service pretty bad, breakfast was good, food and beverages are very expensive considering prices in general in Malaysia. Not to mention that my wife lost her wedding and engagement ring that she left in the room.
Very privacy but need to have transport to go out
We happy and love to come again to Pulau Redang again.. hopefully there is flight direct to go there. People are helpful. Staff are good. The practical staff are very friendly amd helpful towards us too.
Nice hotel close to the local good food
I think Taras is too overrated. Too expansive but very basic still. I’ve been places, the hotel could offer more than this. Front lobby staffs were not that courteous as I even witnessed a foreigner whom had was bitten terribly by sand flies.. instead of showing her courteous she just told her to remain seated. When one is attacked all over her body, swelled up.. no instructions shd be given. Must show empathy only then they will listen to u. Always handle their emotions first.
resort was under renovation... some part was closed...
Lovely Beach
Extremely attentive staff. But the main selling point of this resort is the untouched beach - we had the whole place to ourselves! Food is a bit pricey, but I think that's what you expect from such a resort :) Would definitely recommend if you are in the area and want to just chill by the beach!
all good except for a group of trainee which wasn't trained to handle customer inquiry.
Best beach resort in Asia we have ever stayed in. We were given a room upgrade with amazing views of the beach. Room was 5 star, beach was incredible. Resort facilities however were a little dated.
Good resort on a spectacular beach.
We had read bad reports about service at this hotel so were prepared for the worst. We are very pleased to report that other than some very minor glitches, which happen everywhere, we couldn't fault the service at all. It was always very friendly and prompt. It seems that they have recently employed some new staff from hotels in Lombok, and we assume that this must have had something to do with the improvement in the service. The best feature of the hotel is the beach, which is spectacular. It is pure white fine sand, and slopes down very gently, so I suspect would be perfect if you had kids with you. The rooms are very nice. We had a cliff view suite which was enormous and had a great view of the beach. Large balcony as well which we always like. The food selection at the restaurants was a bit limited, but not really enough to worry us at all. One thing that everyone who comes to Pulau Redang needs to be aware of is that there are no ATMs on the island at all. Don't believe anything that Google Maps tells you. We personally visited the patch of grass at the edge of the jungle that Google Maps believes is inhabited by an ATM. It isn't!! The lack of ATMs seemed to catch a few people out other than us. The resort will give you cash on your credit card, but they charge 10% for the privilege. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here. Very very peaceful and relaxing.
Nice Hotel on a Magnificent Beach
Hotel is located on a superb beach. Friendly staff and great rooms. Normally for a 5 star resort, you don't have to pay for non motorized water sport. It should have been included in the price. The external fascia of the rooms on the hill really needs a good coat of paint.
Romantic Hotel
Great experience, nice view. Lovely environment for couples.
Pleasant stay
i stayed this hotel for 1 night. the check-in was smooth and the staffs were friendly.
The welcome lounge at the airport is a plus. The hotel speedy boat is quite bumpy without AC. The public ferry to my surprise is quite stable and comfortable with AC although 15 slower. The room is quite run-down with a humid smell. The fan is swinging... It is not as good as the picture shows and does not worth the price. The hotel food is average. Will not come back again.
Beach is great. There are many activities for adults and kids organized by the hotel to keep you busy. Room is old and run down. It does not worth the price.
Short Getaway to Redang Island
Very clean, comfortable and spacious room. Amazing beach with crystal clear warm, calm aqua blue water and soft, white sand. No seaweed or rocks. Breakfast has good variety and is more like a brunch/lunch. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would definitely go again.
Some renovation and staff training = 5 star resort
Simply stunning location. A little hotel renovation (rooms and landscape upkeep) needed. Despite this, highly recommend.
Awesome beach and natural environment. I loved it
Everything was excellent except the food. They should change the food menu. The beach of the hotel is one of the best I have ever seen.
Good hotel with private beach
The white sandy beach with crystal clear waters is just paradise.
Amazing beach
A definite highlight was the beach; white soft sand and clear blue water. However, parts of the beach were littered with cigarette butts from other guests. The staff was amazing but the restaurant on site was a let down, with inconsistent food (and for 1 meal I had ants in it). Overall I would go back to the island but might try a different resort next time.
Wonderful holiday destination!
Exellent location, the private beach is perfect. Staffs are nice and helpful. Rooms are clean and spacious, with a fully equipped bath.
Outstanding
One of the best resorts in the world, I really enjoyed my stay.
Great location, pity about the service
An amazing location with great potential. Food in the restaurants was very average and service so so. Regularly things on th menu were unavailable. Last day was a disaster with a huge leak in the bathroom ceiling. Water flooded through the ceiling and caused a power cut. The whole bathroom floor was blank. We received a small spare room in order to shower, but no additional compensation or whatsooever. Things can happen, but from a service point of view there is more that could be done. I had to ask to change room myself. I could have been electrocuted
Pleasant stay, w some notable but fixable problems
Flaws -Unbearable stench in room toilet due to irrigation issues. Hotel should provide scented candles in absence of repair works. -Bathtub in room had rusty screws (!!!) -Guests only limited to 2 bottles of water a day (not at all acceptable at a higher end resort). -Food quality extremely disappointing for price point, restaurant decor and music extremely dated. -General towels at beach area not cleaned properly, one was still filled with smudged makeup and brown substance. -Wifi was non-existent, was a challenge to even load a webpage! Pros -Hotel reception service was very pleasant with Kelly hosting our arrival. We also got a complimentary room upgrade despite high occupancy, two thumbs up. -Beach was very clean, with powdery white sand. -Water was fantastic, crystal clear! -Snorkeling was good and the staff were very helpful. Tip: bring your own underwater camera for underwater photography, we were not able to rent from the hotel. - Hotel provides a few activities FOC that varies everyday - The buggy and jetty pick up service was very convenient Instead of taking the public ferry from Syahbandar jetty, I would highly recommend taking the shared boat service and land transfer from Poksu Lan +60 13 953 5666 from Merang Jetty, just about the same price as public ferry but with more comfort. He was very accommodating and the overall experience was pleasant. Also, recommend the dinner at Aima's Seafood just outside of the resort, cheap and tasty!
Quiet beach resort getaway
We stayed in a hill deluxe room and really enjoyed it. We got a public ferry followed by a free Taaras shuttle to the resort. You can tell you're staying in a 5 star resort from the moment you get there. Beach and snorkeling trips were fantastic, and there are plenty of places to eat during your stay. The bed was comfy, though the pillows weren't great. The bathroom had all the amenities you could need (but the shower was cold if you weren't the first person in the block to use your shower).
Wonderful place
Albeit the difficulty to get onto Redang Island, the time we went was actually Hari Raya, thus there were not much food option for us other than the Hotel Buffet / Ala Carte which was decent but serves the same food every time. But the room was good and clean. Very close to the beach.
Malaysian hospitality at it's best
We stayed at The Taaras Resort for 4 nights and had a relaxing and lovely time. All the staff were friendly and eager to help if needed. The beach was amazingly beautiful and private. As for value, the rooms overlooking the bay was a tad expensive but it is a suite and so plenty of room and had an amazing view !

Very nice hotel, and the best hotels in Malaysia ever. Professional people, many activities, good facilities, beautiful and convenient beach, But need to improve the dining level.
