Absolutely incredible! Everything was perfect and cozy.

An absolute GEM… one of the best experiences ever! We just happened upon this place but will be back! And for an extended stay! This place literally made our trip unreal!

Nice room, nice view, excellent hot tub and sauna as well!

The Sentinel is a unique experience. It's location is it's main draw with incredible views of Kootenay Lake and the surrounding mountains. It's main dining and living area is also a gem with cappuccinos, amazing views and natural light and friendly staff. The breakfast ($25) is also excellent. Kaslo is an amazing little town. Lots to do and an up and coming Mecca for mountain biking with the best trails in BC. Rooms are lovely and the heated bathroom floors are a lovely treat. The only reason for the 4 star review is that the rooms have paper thin walls and sound from all the surrounding rooms (snoring, talking, etc...) are easily heard - make sure you have a white noise app on your phone. Well very likely be back for a third visit!

The beauty around this property is astounding. The lake, the mountains, fantastic. The staff and facilities were perfect. There has been great care taken to make this location peaceful and intimate. The hot tub was fantastic, deep and cedar with the stars at night! Can’t beat it. They would prepare the sauna when requested, firewood no less, it was so relaxing. Kaslo was a few short miles to the north, great food and friendly people. Superb brewery, coffee, breakfast, live music in the evening…. Fantastic! Ainsworth Hot springs was a few mile back, 15 minutes. Very unique and well worth it and a very nice restaurant there. Sat out on the deck, enjoying the lake and a drink. Check this out… we went in mid September and was well worth it.

The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. It feels like you accidentally drive onto someone's property, but it was the retreat. It is a cute quiet place to get away from life's stresses and just relax in nature. The view from the rooms is spectacular. There was not a fridge in the room, and I couldn't control the air temperature, but there was a fan to help cool it down a bit. I would recommend it to groups looking for a calm and quiet getaway

Hidden Gem

Amazing place!, beautiful grounds and view of the lake, excellent room, staff and delicious breakfast (additional cost). Highly recommend staying here if you are in the area.

Breathtaking getaway

The Sentinel is a magical place. The facility is fabulous and the setting is breathtaking. The staff think of everything to make your stay comfortable. This is my second visit and I will continue to return and bring friends and family.

Great stay

The views are stunning, the communal space is so incredibly cozy and, the cedar hot tub and sauna was so nice to relax in. The rooms are modern, new, and fresh. We'll be going back ASAP.

Incredible location and views in Kaslo

Awesome hotel with super friendly and welcoming staff. We were met on arrival by Shannon who kindly showed us around - a first in a while at a hotel. Great room - LOVED the heated floors. Views are out of this world and the grounds and common areas are lovely and feel like your own cosy living room. We will be back for sure!! One suggestion: My wife fell between our room and the lower common room at night - the motion lights were out - had they been working, she would have noticed the stairs.

This was one of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed. The staff was outstanding, so kind and helpful. The room was amazing and the beds comfortable. It was a joy to stay here.

We had a wonderful, if short, stay at the Sentinel. Absolutely stunning surroundings, perfect if you’re looking for a peaceful break from the outside world. Breakfast was lovely, and we felt well taken care of by the easygoing and friendly staff.

Bait and switch

Booked a room with twin beds. They only had a single bed upon arriving. I said I booked twin beds. They gave us a single room next door to give us separate beds but then the next day wanted to charge me for two rooms. I negotiated to one and a half rooms but $100 more than I was expecting to pay. Turns out they had a room with tein beds but didn't give it to us

Amazing property, friendly and accommodating staff, phenomenal food and meets the need to rest, relax, ground and breathe in every single way.

The property is simply magical.

We arrived from Vancouver and there was a bit of a mixup with the booking but they arranged for us to stay in a glamping tent, a little skeptical at first but we had access to showers and a washroom, the tent was so fancy you thought you were in a hotel. It was great. We woke up showered and went down to the dock with our coffee, tried a little fishing, the views were amazing - a piece of heaven - I am reluctant to tell you too much more as it will be overbooked all the time.

Seeing British Columbia

This retreat hotel is hard to find but once you are here it is a quiet peaceful retreat with common areas both inside and outside to sit and enjoy the location which is right on the lake. The room was comfortable with lots of windows but could use some "room darkening" shades to block out the early morning sun.

You can’t go wrong with booking this location.

its not a hotel, its a bed and breakfast, NO tv on the property. they called me twice needing to know when I was arriving for check in - added undue stress.

All the things we needed.

Beautiful view, quiet, clean and wonderful breakfast. The staff were more than helpful and accommodating. Appreciated that there was no TV in the rooms or radio. You could definitely unplug. Much needed rest.

This location is everything you're looking for in a retreat center, or peaceful getaway. The property combined with the stunning views is hard to top. I will definitely be back and would highly recommend to anyone. The only downside, for me, was no coffee pot in the room. However, the group area was just steps away and they had a very nice espresso type machine that was easy to use. The bedrooms were clean, & vibrant. The Cedar hot tub was a highlight with a fresh cedar smell (no chemicals). The water was actually tinted from the cedar wood it was built from (maybe avoid light colored swim apparel). Breakfast was a delight. Plenty of food choices, and everything was very tasty. The staff was a delight to visit with as well.

Stunning, but falls short of superb service.

The Sentinel is set in a beautiful location. It has the feel of a zen oasis and the views of Kootenay Lake are majestic. The facility is beautiful, comfortable, and warm. I would have appreciated more hotel level toiletries in the room considering the rates are comparable to those of good hotels. Carpeting in the room was a poor choice for a modern facility - gets dirty easily and it is hard to clean as opposed to hard floors, especially because you are in the midst of an ootdoor setting: leaves, mud, debris are on everyone’s footwear. We wanted to use the hot tub early in the morning before breakfast - found it with the cover off, empty glasses around and wine boxes from the users of the night before. The water was cold despite it was set to the max temperature setting. Disappointing. I suppose the idea is to leave the guests as free as possible, which is nice, but that puts too much reliance on the guests to be disciplined and clean up after themselves. There is new and modern furniture everywhere, and some of the pieces are already stained and somewhat dirty, after only one season. The place is lovely, but I am not sure yet if I want to go back. Maybe.

Beautiful setting, the grounds offer numerous vantage points to take in the areas natural splendour, relax and unwind.

Amazing location & attention to detail.

An amazing oasis to rest and recharge! Bedrooms are upscale and every detail in the guest house is too quality. Breakfast was amazing!

Peaceful setting and careful attention to comfort lead to a restful stay. The breakfast was awesome! and host Richard is a great ambassador for the area....

We enjoyed the serene nature of the lakeside location. Our breakfast was excellent. We will find a reason to return for another relaxing stay.

We have never stayed at a BNB before. This one was excellent. Breakfast was gourmet. And the view superb. We will be going back

Tranquility

The Sentinal is a retreat based facility. It is excellent for getting away from the world. The facillty is brand new. Many of the features of the facility are being constructed. I would like to return in a year or two and see how things look when everything is complete. I you are looking for a place to relax and turn off the noise of the world ...check it out!

Best kept secret. Right between Kaslo and the Hot Springs, you won't even know it exists We've never experienced so much quietness as we did here. We were able to watch bald eagles fish, we chilled, eat incredible breakfast from chef Richard, and we even wrote music within the serenity. Jaw dropping scenery, offerings of acupuncture, yoga, meditation, hot tubbing, this place has it all. We'll be back often and again.
