Great place central to ferry building, viaduct and spark arena!
Fantastic location for dining and ferry services. Comfortable unit for a couple
Great location and parking situation
Great location. Overall highly recommend. Had drinks/snacks in the minibar available for purchase. Rooms are in good condition. Bathroom shower leaked a bit onto the floor with each use, but hopefully was room specific. Otherwise great! AC system is good and quiet. Parking was $40/night with very easy in/out access. Can use the same elevator to get to your room/lobby.
Ideal location. Room was very tired. Holes in curtains, grout in bathroom very sparse, cold shower, suds coming up the drain hole in floor.
It was amazing along with the guest desk! All amazing!! Wonderful and clean!!
Place to be in downtown Auckland
Good food and shopping options within walking distance.
Noisy rooms with a view.
Harbour view rooms which we stayed in on 2nd and 5th floor, suffered from noise from the restaurants below. Thought it would be better on the 5th floor after the first night, but not. The windows on the fifth have very poor seals to keep noise out .All windows and sliding doors are single glazed, and old.Staff at hotel dealt really well with room change request.
I acknowledge that the hotel in situated in hospitality precinct with certain noise levels accepted but the room we were put in was right above the pub with live music which was very loud and continuous. it is a pity when you have a night away as a treat. Granted if we were on higher level that wouldn’t have been an issue but for the money we paid for the room it definitely wasnt worth it.
Loved its location and everyone was very friendly!
Great location, with entrance from Viaduct Basin Marina with loads of restaurants and short walk to Downtown Shops and the Harbor ferries. Washer and Dryer in the room was very useful.
Hotel showing age. Small room.
Disappointed with Sebel. Stayed there in past but studio room we got was very small city view was a car park across road. Desk clearly didn’t fit well in room. Bed was comfortable. Bath room was ok but shower pressure was marginal. Probably would choose here again. Had booked for 3 ppl but all they did was add a rollaway that took up space in front of desk. Had the bed taken away and my daughter didn’t stay with us.
Location is outstanding and parking underneath the building made it easy
Very good. Slightly dated....small tv no chrome cast so limited movies etc....service awesome. Bed very comfy...said parking incl on listing then charged extra $40 on billing
The location was so convenient to the viaduct, restaurants, and the commercial bay shopping area. The deluxe unit was spacious and although dated was very comfortable and clean. Would definitely come back.
Good
Amazing hotel very central.Friendly staff and very helpful.Sebastian the manager was brilliant.
Great hotel.
We were in Auckland for a quick overnight stay, the Sebel is extremely central with an entrance to the viaduct. It wasnt that noisy either. The apartment had a big bathroom with a bath and it had a laundry in the room
Unsightly dirty grout in tiled floors. Mould in bathrooms. Broken dryer. Staff were mostly great.
We booked a room with city views and ended up with a beautiful view of a multi-story carpark. The room was tired and had perforated blackout curtains. On the Saturday night it sounded like the nightclub across the road was in our room. The noise and vibration kept up us until early our of the morning. On the plus side, the next day the reception staff moved us to the other side of the hotel overlooking the marina and that was so much better. The staff were very understanding
We where just staying 1 night for a work do in the city, property and rooms where clean. Enjoyed our stay
Very noisy even though we were on the top floor.
Two nights, very comfortable
We had a great stay however the band at the pub below us sounded like they were playing on our verandah, loudly until 1am. Not ideal!
Booked a city view room, but the view was restricted to a carpark…….?
We were truly disappointed with our accommodation: it was nothing like the photos we saw when booking. We had booked and paid for two nights’ accommodation. Upon arrival there was an unpleasant pungent air freshener-type smell in reception. The corridor leading to our accommodation was depressing to say the least and when we opened the door to our accommodation we were dismayed. It was a shoebox; very low ceiling covered in water sprinkler heads and coiled lightbulbs. A strange sliding door arrangement to seal the bedroom from the minuscule living area. Gauche furniture and artwork. Also given its location, good luck trying to sleep because you are above party central venues in the Viaduct. We arrived late and so stayed that night but checked out the following morning to move to much more relaxing and luxurious accommodation for a similar price. The one positive thing I would say is that the manager was understanding of our position and agreed to refund the second night’s stay which we appreciate.
Right in the harbour and downtown dining district.
Gala dinner stay
One night stay to attend a gala dinner. On site parking available and a 2 min walk to our dinner venue. Friendly welcome from staff and very comfortable room. Would definitely stay here again.
We were SO disappointed at the state of the room. We paid for a suite with a sea view. The balcony had lovely views BUT the bed cover had white spill marks, bowls had grime in them and glasses has lipstick marks. The rug was old a rippled and a trip hazard, the coffee table was scratched and would be expected in a student flat share property. We will never go back again.
Great Spot
Good location but tired
We liked the atmosphere and up beat area, previous stays we have had amazing rooms, this one sadly not up there with our previous rooms
Easy access to Viaduct Harbour
The room was great everything you needed. I would stay here again
Was ok, no complaints just wished they had given us a upgrade as was anniversary
Whilst most things were ok unfortunately the band playing downstairs in the bar was far too noisy and it went on far too long into the night.
Gorgeous harbour view with superb service, especially credit to the housekeeping staff.
The location of this hotel is great. Right in the viaduct, so easy access to so many restaurants and entertainment. My only comment would be pay the extra and get on the Marina side of the building. We didn't and were also only on level 2, so the noise outside was loud and went for a very long time as it is a party area.
Staff were very helpful and responsive. The facilities in the room were a bit old and worn out. Location is very convenient and has easy access to public transportation and restaurants.
This tired, scruffy, noisy, unfriendly and poorly fitted out hotel should not be allowed to charge even half the nightly rate it does. We were absolutely disgusted.
Loved our stay here - we had a 1 bedroom with awesome views of the Viaduct - short walk downstairs and you have everything the Viaduct has to offer restaurants and bars etc day n night Also walkable into Auckland city - highly recommend !!
Very old condition and dirty.
I didn’t like that the drying machine was not working. A gentleman from the reception did try to fix it but eventually it just stopped working.
Many dining options nearby
The hotel itself was lovely and the staff friendly. However if you want a quiet night's sleep you might choose a different hotel. The hotel is located in a busy area of restaurants which is handy. The issue is the pub underneath that has live music until 1 am in the morning that you can hear very clearly in the rooms. Staying over the weekend was not relaxing when you struggle to go to sleep listening to a rock band, especially when you have to get up early the next morning for an international flight.
The room was clean and the view was lovely. The staff were friendly and it felt safe and welcoming. Unfortunately the bars below at the viaduct were so noisy it was impossible to sleep.
The room was not as advertised, was average quality, and had costly internet. The staff and location were fantastic. We booked a one-room suite with a harbor view that was described as having an unobstructed view and a large balcony. Instead, our view was partially blocked, and the balcony was so small it could not fit one chair. The room rates should reflect this discrepancy. Additionally, internet service was expensive at $10 NZD per 1GB, lasting only about an hour, and hot water was sufficient for just one shower. However, the staff were friendly, the appliances were useful, and the location was conveniently close to many excellent restaurants and attractions.
Very easy check in. Room was very nice. Staff very accommodating and helpful with our toddler.
The staff were very accomodating and helpful! Great customer service
Great staff. The suites are showing their age.
Friendly staff. Fabulous location overlooking the harbour and near lots of restaurants. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT was that the Sebel charges you to use the internet! Seriously?! Not a big charge but I don’t know of any other hotel that charges for the internet.
Booked two rooms for our family for a two night stay in Auckland. Needed proximity to Princes Wharf area so this was perfect. Both rooms booked were Queen suites with city view. Suites were very different, One smaller in size but with balcony and views to the Viaduct and Sky Tower. Second limited view but considerably larger and very well decorated. Kitchens are small but had everything we needed for our stay. Fantastic location with easy access to dining options at the Viaduct, walking distance to shopping and many attractions. Secure onsite parking was a bonus. Reception staff extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating. Thoroughly recommend.
Great location to restaurants and local sightseeing, and tours. Although there is no pool at the hotel the tepid baths are just across the street and include poos, sauna, hot tub, and steam bath. Dislike: There was some noise from nearby (bottles clanging together), but it is not terribly loud.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is excellent, right on Viaduct Harbour. Lots of excellent food choices within walking distance.
In the middle of many options
This hotel is very well situated for various activities. I really appreciated a possibility to use for free the Tepid Baths swimming pool and also sauna, though that was not too great. There are many sailing options in the port just in front of the hotel, numerous restaurants and bars in a walking distance around the down town area. The Sky Tower is nearby, as well as the bus terminal. My room (studio) was excellenty equipped, spacious and comfortable.
Having Taxi drivers out front hasseling you each time you went outside and not moving for drop offs taking up all the loading zone.
There was no reception for spark… had to walk a block away to call an Uber. The room was miserable and nothing like the photos . City view was a view of a car park and a window to a local swimming pool. The bathroom was dated but generally definitely not 4 star. We will not stay at a Sebel again after this experience.
The Sebel is situated right on the Viaduct and above the restaurants. Excellent for walking to the Fuller Ferries, shopping, dining etc Our room had a wonderful view of the harbour and Auckland Harbour bridge. We watched many sailing boats race by as we sat on our balcony enjoying the evening. Room was very clean, front desk service was outstanding. We would certainly stay here again.
Roomy, clean, well-equipped apartment with a balcony overlooking the beautiful harbor. Many wonderful restaurants nearby. Right next to the maritime museum and the Auckland museum is also nearby. The Maori cultural performance at the latter was a high point of our vacation. Nightlife in nearby pubs and restaurants was rollicking through the weekend - not a quiet location, but felt perfectly safe and we would definitely stay there again.
Terrible experience, terrible service, terrible property. Heres a handful of reasons I wont stay at a Sebel again if I can avoid it: - The MOST important thing you'll read about this hotel... IT IS ABOVE MANY PUBS AND VENUES WITH LIVE MUSIC. We stayed on a saturday night and no joke, I could tell you every song that band played while I was upstairs trying to sleep before my 7am flight. The band stopped at about 3am after playing Stacy's Mom... I could hear it all from my room. Insane. At 3am, the consumer has the option of complaining and packing up to shift rooms for an hour before they leave or just trying to push through. - Free wifi on their expedia profile inclusions. Once there, we were told its like $10 for average speed or $24 for highspeed. We told the guy we only book this place because of its location parking (I'll get to that in a second) and its wifi. We are international tourists, I need the ability to call people via wifi. The service rep spoke over me in a tone that made me think people complain about this regularly and said 'what room? I'll just cover it.' Before I'd finished my sentence. Great problem solving, but poor people skills. - Rooms are tired. SO tired. The TV is like 4 metres away from the bed or chairs so almost impossible to see. The room is long, which is weird, so no composition of furniture would make it look good. - PARKING - we had to park publicly in another car park, and theres no pull in bay to drop off suitcases. Terrible.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Let us store our luggage after check out since we had an 8pm flight and had hours to spend in the city. Great location on the harbour near many restaurants. The room itself was pretty dated. Comfy enough bed but could really do with being finished properly/updated. It was fine for a one night layover but wouldn't have wanted to stay in the room specifically for more than that
Well located on the waterfront. Walking distance to many attractions. Lots of restaurants around. Very helpful staff.
Great views if on the harbour side. Very noisy on the weekends especially if the live band is playing below. Harbour access is very easy and if you are a jogger you can easily run around the marina. The hotel definitely needs an upgrade as it’s quite dated. The mattress is old and very soft and concaves to the centre.
Access to the front if driving can be tricky (You have to cross the road from where the drop-off point is).
Disappointing to be charged for parking and WiFi in this day and age. Great location though.
its location
Very Nice Hotel
Perfect location restaurant & bars galore, perfect sized room, amazing view of the city 10/10
Great location . Hotel pass to tepid baths . Friendly reception staff .
Great spot, handy to everything.
Excellent location…
Great atmosphere nice view of the harbour staff helpful
Average stay
This was one of the worst stays I’ve ever had. The hotel room smelt terribly of old deep frying oil. The carpets looked like they have not been cleaned in years. The bathtub was really gross and the bathroom itself was falling apart. Seems like the Sebel hotel like to charge a lot of money based on the photos you see online. Looks and feels nothing like the photos. Only good thing was location.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room with its views was spectacular! Love the fact that it so close to everything!!
Lovely staff and the room was clean, great location. The property is showing it's age, the wear and tear on the room was bad. Great big holes in the blackout curtains which let the sun in early, phone didn't work. Still having to pay for WIFI was a bit on the nose, thankfully we could hotspot our devices.
Amazing and relaxing inviroment
Convenient location
Good location and great studio room with kitchenette and laundry. Friendly staff.
We really enjoyed our stay. The location is great and the marina view from our room was fantastic. Staff at the front desk were very helpful. It's an extremely lively area so there is nightly noise from the area bars and restaurants but closing the windows helped to soundproof the room.
The property was great & we had a kitchenette & small fridge. Good TV. Great access to Restaurants & Bars. Also walking distance to Queen Street, Auckland
I love the location however the rooms are getting pretty tired bathrooms and carpets could all do with a refresh
Great location. Nice comfortable rooms. Helpful staff. Although the place is a bit tired, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Wi-Fi on the property insisted we pay daily for its use even though Wi-Fi was supposed to be included. A minor aggregation. We would stay there again.
Room we got was literally not what we were expecting, rooms look nothing like the photos they have online
Tired & run down. Disappointing stay
Rooms are very run down and tired. There were missing grout, mould, cracks in the tiles, fixtures very loose and throughout the plastering. We complained to the manager, and was nice to move us rooms however his hands were tied due to all other rooms being similar condition. Disappointing for a Sebel hotel especially for the price paid - should of checked the reviews before hand but didn’t think I needed to for a Sebel.
Very handy to CBD. Friendly helpful staff.
Excellent location in downtown Auckland. Parking is limited and I would recommend not having a car there. Use buses/Uber/your own feet to get around the local area.
Tired with no parking available- pushed into public parking that didn’t open till 6am
Location was great. Was a bit noisy at night.
Great room beautiful veiw
We loved our stay with sebel, there communication was great, happy to help and cater to our needs which made our stay stress free. Staff were polite and happy to help at all times as reception is open 24/7 :)
Very friendly and helpful staff
Photos are misrepresentative of actual room
Hotel was fairly stock standard but below our expectations. Photos showed nice room, bed throws and bright windows. Room was actually quite tired, had no throw or extra touches. Kitchen was falling apart. Bed was ok but not comfortable. We wouldn’t recommend.
The staff were great, transport options are good and shops are nearby . A little noisy on Friday and Saturday nights
Our suite was clean and well equipped with everything you'd need for a short stay however the air conditioning in the suite wasn't working. We reported this to reception twice, but it wasn't fixed and no alternative room was offered (despite the hotel not being fully booked). We couldn't have the windows open at night to cool the room down as the noise from the bar downstairs would have kept us awake (we could hear the tables and chairs etc being moved around at the end of the night even with the windows closed). The 1 bedroom suite is more like a studio as you can't have the sliding doors closed otherwise you can't get out the bed on both sides - not a huge issue for a short stay or for a single person but would definitely not be suitable for a couple for a longer stay. The bed was terrible - very uncomfortable when shared, the mattress was very soft and sagged/worn and so the bed moved considerably anytime either myself or my husband moved in the bed.
Excellent location right on the harbour. Rooms need a freshen up, would stay again
Great option for a short or long stay at Auckland. The room had a small kitchen, washer and dryer, microwave and fridge for a very reasonable rate. Great location by the viaduct close to all the shopping and restaurants.
Great location, looking a little tired
Loved the spacious rooms and lobby areas! Only thing despised was the humidity of our room even with the air condition on.
Great place to stay. Auckland is a small city but this spot was right where you want to be. Plenty of restaurants around and the ferry is about 5 min walk. I was surprised with the area. You can walk pretty much the entire city from right here.
Great accommodation and great view of the viaduct harbour. Easy access to the harbour and city centre. The Duty Manager (Ms mua-Nikki) was really helpful for recommendations and booking our transfer. The only problem is the noise level from the bars around the Harbour, up to 1-2 am in tte morning keeping us awake.
Convenient to everything such as bars, cafes and shops. The front desk was very accommodating by Check-ing us in early and storing luggage. Thank you!
