If your looking for peace/ tranquility beautiful surroundings away from the hustle and bustle. This is the place to enjoy. There is also a shuttle provided from the hotel.

The resort was good, but there was an issue with the AC. The staff was responsive and promptly resolved my complaint. However, the food from the restaurant was average.

This resort is great, I booked this to travel from Sydney to Ubud for my wife’s bday. We booked a suite with hot tub as the one with pool was not available for those dates. Hotel has its own pool which is nice and a bar next to it. Room was fine other than aircon doesn’t really cool the whole room as it’s too small compared to the size of the room. We tried morning breakfast which is alright as they have plenty of choices in it but doesn’t really taste how it’s supposed to be tasting I guess coz of the ingredients are locally sourced. Staff is definitely helpful, they even helped me to plan a surprise for my wife’s bday in decorating the room. I would recommend this place for living little away from ubid centre. They offer free shuttle for drop off and pickup from ubud city centre which is only 10 minutes away.

Beautiful property with beautiful staff! An excellent choice if you want to stay a bit out of the main Ubud area but not so far that the main district is in accessible. Stepping in off the street you were in a green sanctuary the gardens were lush heading towards the pool that overlooked lush jungle greenery .We stayed in a Valley view suite which was large and very comfortable. The staff couldn’t do enough, they were friendly, helpful, attentive. The food was amazing and a high quality. Transport to main centre was easy with the shuttle service. All up I couldn’t fault Sankara suites and Villas I would definitely come back and I would highly recommend.

Pros : Overall very good! Beautiful and relaxing place to stay at. Quiet and breezy with very nice villas. Restaurant food were tasty. Staff were all super friendly, helpful & attentive. There's also free shuttle to ubud palace which makes it very convenient. Cons : Rooms not very soundproof. Can hear noises clearly from nearby rooms. Would be good if shuttle service can be either more frequent or on demand basis when required.

It was a very beautiful property and the room was spacious and great value for the cost! The staff is soooo friendly, amazing customer service. The breakfast and dinner tasted great! My only complaint would be the bugs. I understand that’s out of their control but my room door didn’t fully close so basically it was always open for all sorts of things to get in. Ants crawled the walls and in my bed. Centipede in my shower and a huge cockroach right by the door inside the room. Just be aware if that’s something you’re scared of it’s very open so nothing is sealed off to keep them out. Geckos all over the ceilings too but I didn’t mind that as much personally

The hotel was very peaceful, and the room itself was very gorgeous. It had a balconcy that went right out to a pond and the valley below! One small issue - while checking the mattress for bed bugs (there were none, just to be very clear), I can't help but notice the mattress was actually quite dusty. To be fair, the bed was covered with two layers of bed sheets. I chose to not make a fuss over this, but could definitely be improved on.

This property is an absolutely DREAM!! The grounds are like out of a fairy tale. The staff is the friendliest we've ever encountered. I cant give the staff enough stars. Front desk, room service, spa staff, restaurant staff, grounds keeper, room attendants, and driver. Everyone was exceptional!!! I will only stay here on my next visit to Bali.

We had a wonderful time at Sankara. Great service, facilities, everything was just top notch. I honestly feel we found a gem in Ubud. Thank you you all for providing us with such a good time :)

A beautiful property!! The staff went above and beyond to ensure we were happy our entire stay! While the location is not convenient for walking, there is a free scheduled shuttle to take you to the center. We thought the food was better here than some of the restaurants we tried.

Beautifully maintained, friendly staff

We arrived rather late in the day and very exhausted from the 2 days of travel, but were received with wonderful smiles from all the staff. It was a very pleasant experience so far.

We loved this hotel and hope to stay in the future! We went for our honeymoon, everyone was so kind and helpful! Close to the towns center, amazing amenities, food was incredible!

Delightful place - very peaceful and quiet especially appreciated after the hustle and bustle of the Ubud streets. Lovely staff, very helpful. Appreciated the unexpected upgrade to a suite with my own pool. Recommend the breakfast which can be served in the room at no extra cost.

Musty smell and mold all around. Their room is a studio with shower, bed, and no walls. Recipe for disaster. They have an air freshener that goes off every few minutes to try and mask the smell. Look for other reviews (including other travel sites) that also mention the same thing. Worst hotel stay ever.

Absolutely loved our stay at Sankara. One of the most amazing places I have ever stayed! Everything was just beautiful. From the grounds, to the room, the massages at the spa, the restaurant, and the friendly staff. We will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful stay at the Sankara Suites! Immediately upon checking in to Sankara I developed Bali Belly from something I ate prior to my arrival. The staff kept checking on me and offered me tea and porridge. They also helped the doctor locate me. The resort was beautiful and the staff was incredibly genuine and friendly. I would highly recommend staying here.

Love this hotel. It was one of my favorites in Ubud. The staff and breakfast were all great. If we come back to Bali, we’ll definitely go back to Sakara

This was an absolutely beautiful hotel. Felt like paradise. Loved the daily shuttle down to Ubud, but also only 40k in a taxi. Rooms were gorgeous, we had the valley view suite, room was huge with amazing view. The pool was also great with amazing views, felt like you were in the middle of no where whilst being close enough to the center of Ubud. Staff were so helpful. Had a massage in the spa and that was wonderful! Would definitely return here

beautiful resort! staff were extremely kind and on top of things…but it to the point that it was almost over bearing. upon arrival we were given a tour of the full resort, walked all the way down the stairs to the spa and back up again, just to have a look at the spa front desk. we were then taken to our room and given a tour within the room. the toilet, shower, and towels were all pointed out to us which was…interesting. we were called at 9 am in the morning to see if we wanted our room cleaned. after walking out of our room door to the front entrance to leave for the day we were then asked 3 times by 3 separate staff if we wanted our room cleaned, was just a bit strange. were then asked multiple times by multiple staff when we were checking out and if we needed a driver. there’s an automatic perfume dispenser in the room that goes off every 5-7 minutes in the morning, also interesting. pool is great. felt immersed in the jungle. shuttle is nice and convenient although the trip is supposed to be around 15 minutes, one of our journeys back took almost an hour as we spent 30 mins going in a circle. could have just been our luck with traffic. overall would recommend but prepare for a bit of awkwardness with the staff.

Beautiful hotel with one of the best services I ever had. Staff super helpful and attentive. There are many add ons for free kindly offered by the hotel: transport to the city centre, afternoon tea, photoshoot, taster massage, yoga. Breakfast was amazing and specially cooked for you. I got extremely sick from eating at their restaurant and the service was sub-par compared to the other hotels we stayed at while in Bali. The pool was beautiful!

We stayed 9 nights, had dental work done so preferred to stay in one place and the staff did an amazing job of making it feel like home. This was our 2nd visit to Bali but first time in Ubud. The Sankara provided that quintessential Ubud experience, the hotel is lush and tranquil with a beautiful pool. We booked a valley suite with breakfast, great value. It is a luxury hotel so the price of food and beverage is higher than other restaurants on the main road, however the quality of the food is great.The spa is amazing and relaxing. The hotel offers a daily shuttle pickup and drop off to Ubud Palace which is very convenient. There are plenty of other places to eat within walking distance and we were surprised by this place called PARQ, definitely worth a visit. We really enjoyed our stay and appreciate all the care and attention the hotel provided.Highly recommend staying here.

The property was very beautiful on the outside. However, the inside of my room, not so much. There were spiderwebs throughout my room. The room needed a deep cleaning. The washcloths and towels were stained, as if no bleach was added. Food was amazing, but a very limited on alcohol.

My stay was pleasant I like that there was free shuttle to get to the shopping area with pick up. The staff are very helpful with great attention to detail.

The Sankara is more than I expected. The hotel is beautiful and the staff are welcoming and goes above and beyond to accommodate us. Additionally, the spa is world class. If you stay here, I highly recommend you take advantage of the different spa packages. One thing I would like to mention is that this hotel is not accessible for individuals with mobility needs. However, this is not unique to the Sankara. A lot of hotels across Southeast Asia are not accessible. Also, the breakfast options are limited. During our stay, several of our group members often go to the hotel across the street for breakfast as they have better options. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back. I also want to thank Endra for driving us around and helping us learned about the Balinese culture. You are an amazing young man and the Sankara is lucky to have you.

Fantastic service, all the staff were lovely and always super friendly and seemed to really care about the hotel and the guests. Massage in the spa was great in a really lovely setting, would definitely recommend.

Absolutely loved this property! The staff was amazing and so nice, they accommodated my husband and me every step of the way. The first day our room was not ready due to fogging the room for geckos which are very common in Bali. As a result the staff upgraded our room to their best villa until our room was ready the next day. They also provided my husband and me with complimentary massages! The staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was incredible! The resort also provides a lot of activities for guest such as private yoga, floating breakfasts, private dinners and so much more! The food at their onsite restaurant is also amazing, my husband and me ate there almost every day. We would definitely stay here again!

The room were nice, the spa is good, the food is so so, the service is nice but not really helpful, especially the front desk, the receptionist is not helpful. My complaints are the ac in the room, it wasn't cool enough and very noisy. The pillows were also uncomfortable. They lack in cleanliness, spider webs in the lamps, my jar of tea from breakfast have coffee leftover in it which was disgusting. They also forget to replace the cups, sugar, water etc have to call them frequently. I wouldn't recommend it, theres a lot of nicer villas around, my sister stayed in another one which was way much better.

Wished for a Longer Stay...

I had a wonderful stay at Sankara during my solo Holiday. I arrived in the middle of the night, fatigued, tired and recovering from a minor car accident enroute to the hotel. I was met with kindness, warmth, concern and a mid-night snack. From that point forward, my stay was nothing but outstanding. I travel often, so I am not easily impressed. The staff was kind, welcoming, anticipated my needs and aided me in the quite peace I was seeking. The Spa and spa staff - top notch! I really felt at home and regretted not planning a longer stay at the Sankara. I highly recommend the Sankara Suites & Villas in Ubud. :-) Thank you all so much!

Very nice property with lots of character. Staff, food and facilities were excellent. As a comment for further improvement would be to have brighter light in the bathroom for shaving. Other than that it was perfect

The property is nice. The staff is nice. The Spa was excellent. Very reasonable prices.The floating breakfast wasnt worth it the entire pool is about 5 feet all over. You have to pull the tray to the edge to try and eat. Check-out time is at 12pm and they only give you 30 mins more fore late check-out.

We had a great stay. We had a twin valley room which was very comfortable. Breakfast was great, with a variety of cooked to order options available. We spent most of our time at the pool which was lovely with loungers and umbrellas. Had an amazing massage and facial at the spa. The resort provides a free shuttle into Ubud several times a day. Takes about 5-10 min. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had a late checkout and they let us use a hotel room to shower after the day in the pool.

Fantastic couples retreat

We loved this place. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and perfectly manicured. The staff was amazing and so polite and helpful. The spa looked out onto the jungle and the massage was the best I’ve ever had. Our room had a private pool and we loved it. The main pool was great but we spent most of our time at our own pool. We did yoga in the morning and that was great too. My wife and I highly recommend this place for a stay in Ubud. Just a short and inexpensive ride away on the shuttle was the monkey forest

Everything was very nice! Excellent customer service! Helped with our bags, food was great, room was perfect with a private pool and fresh fruit daily. Air conditioning worked well. Even helped us when our rental car wouldn’t start!

I felt very well taken care of by the hotel staff. They greeted me when i came back. The room was very spacious and clean. It's a villa near the nature so insects crawling around are expected but not too annoying. The bed was too soft for me. I enjoyed the outdoor bathtub. A soak in hot water under the starry sky was the perfect way to relax after a long day. Breakfast selection was great. Coffee is on point. Overall, i had a great experience staying here.

Although good natural surroundings but rooms are dark, not well lit. The staff (especially Ladoo Restaurant) will deny everything you ask and tell you that they don't have it and when you insist , it magically appears. Not good options in breakfast. There are much better options available around.

Nice property but the ground floor valley rooms have a musty smell that I considered disconcerting. Had to ask for a humidifier to help remove some of the moisture in the air. This helped but I still had to switch rooms. I dont like wrinkled clothing so I had to request an iron and ironing board every day. You could only get it for 3 hours at a time. This was really annoying. It didnt help that the ironing board cover was worn, burnt and dirty. The room was a nice size and I really appreciated the staff. They were very attentive and tried to solve the issues. Food at the restaurant was good especially breakfast. A bit expensive for Bali but not totally unreasonable.

I enjoyed the lush setting and grounds, the architecture and the friendliness of the staff. The onsite spa was particularly nice. Imagine getting a massage on the deck of a treehouse! The spa team knows how to properly give whatever kind of massage you would like. I was there for 3 days and got a massage every day. I’m already planning on a return!

This is a strange place. It looks beautiful and with first impression it is. The pool,the gardens,the walkway down to the private villas…. However The buildings are poorly made. The walls are paper thin. You can hear your neighbours talking. The workers (happily) chatting. People walking past. It often felt like people were inside the villa. The music from the main pool echo’s loudly down to the villas. Again would be great if you wanted a party place but if you wanted to unwind with nature - forget it. The staff are individually lovely polite and courteous however there was a lack of communication. MAKE SURE YOU BOOK THE SHUTTLE. They will collect you however they will (try) and charge you much more than a taxi from ubud. After looking around at other villas for the price of Sankara suite with private pool you can definitely get a better deal elsewhere. The breakfast at $27 (aud) was lacking.The spa treatment itself was good again very overpriced and because it’s semi outdoors it was the only place in Bali that I got mosquitos bites. I hate leaving bad reviews but for Bali I honestly know you can do better elsewhere

Customer service from the front desk was terrrible. The front staff needs to be trained on how to provide better customer service as well as conflict management. Servers need to stop starring and whispering amongst each other while the guests dine. It is very uncomfortable to see them watch you from afar while you eat. We had the 126 sq m suite. While very large and has a beautiful entrance, the room was strange on the inside. The washroom needs to be separated from the bedroom and closed off. It should not be open to the ceiling at the top and separated by a glass door which allows all the washroom smell to escape into the living/sleeping space. Really yucky placement of the bed only a couple of feet from the toilet. The air was the worst. The room has a mouldy wet smell once entered. To mask it, they attached an automatic room spray by the AC that goes off intermittently. I do not know what's worst, having mouldy/wet washroom smell in the room or strong chemical fragrance to mask it. Very dim lit space. It's perpetually dark in the room night to day with very low light and not enough lights/lamps for such a big room. Strange layout. While the room is very large, it is mainly made of a separate area for the jacuzzi and bathtub which had no lighting anywhere near it. The bed, as mentioned, is right in the middle of the room with the washroom 2 feet from the bed. Checked out first thing next day. Really bad experience. Not even worth 4 stars.

Service is great & friendly staff BUT…

The service and the staff are excellent. The hotel is beautiful but the room is a little tired and feels dirty. The valley suite bathroom wall partition is from wood so it has black mold on the bottom. Many design flaws for sure. They need to renovate these rooms for sure. I found an unopened candy on the floor of my room which means they didnt sweep or map from the last guest. Unfortunately I won’t be coming back here unless they renovate it.

Best decision of our spontaneous Bali trip to book this exotic getaway. Stayed in a River villa with private pool and was amazing. Staff extremely helpful and always greeted us. Convenient shuttle into town when needed but hard to leave such a luxurious property.
