Hotel stay
Excellent stay. Nice food at English grill and curry house. Excellent history knowledge about hotel and surroundings by John.
It was good
Special Birthday
Excellent up market theatre week for wifes 50th birthday. 4 nights 4 shows in a top class hotel
Wonderful hotel and amazing staff.
A lovely blend of old and new!
A really classic hotel with a lot of history, they do a good job of keeping the deco traditional yet keeping it clean and classy. The staff were all incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, shout out to Raj for a smooth check in and shout out to the New York Bar for great service, very knowledgeable staff, delicious food and pretty unique cocktails! Thanks for starting off a really memorable night for us! The only thing I would mention would be there was a slight bar smell coming from the air conditioning vents in the evening and the plug in the bath would not remain up so would struggle to release the water. A small price to pay for the stay, we would love to visit again! Thank you!
Nice reception and friendly staff, room could have done with an update though
Lovely stay in great location
Lovely weekend stay for my husband and me. Our room was small but given it is in central London, not surprising. It was well appointed including coffee and tea supplies and nice toiletries. Location is perfect - very close to Buckingham Palace but on a quieter street so the sidewalks weren't crazy busy and we didn't notice any noise. Service was top notch and we felt well cared for.
Wonderful staff, beautiful rooms and lobby, excellent location. Everything you could want in a vacation.
The Rubens Hotel was a fabulous place to spend our vacation. The entire staff were all ready to help us with anything we needed. In the morning, we would be leaving for the day and the doorman would ask us what was on our itinerary for the day. Upon return, we were asked about our day. Such sweet people! The food was delicious and the wait staff very nice. A highlight was Royal Afternoon tea, which was a delicious event with the prefect view. Thank you to the Rubens and their staff!
My second stay here and it was wonderful. Pascal at tne door is a gem.
Very good customer service and lication.
Very English hotel
The hotel is lovely. The bathroom was not ventilated, so we had a wet bathroom for a couple of hours after our showers, otherwise it was a wonderful location and fantastic week at The Rubens in London.
The proximity to Buckingham Palace and other Victoria sites was nice. Staff were nice and helpful. The room was very small given the cost.
Staff was very gracious. The hotel’s locations and the tube is great.
Great place to stay within walking distance to Buckingham Palace. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Wonderful Experience
We LOVED staying in this hotel thanks to the staff. The staff were amazing for anything we needed! Super nice, friendly and approachable. It was also a great location. What we did not enjoy at the hotel and did not feel were worth the money were both the full and continental breakfasts, as well as the afternoon tea. All were WAY overpriced and not worth it. The continental breakfast was comparable to a cheap American breakfast…very slim offerings. And the afternoon tea…was a disappointment. Which is unfortunate as there was so much hype around it.
Amazing hotel. Very close to the palace.
Always stay here. Excellent and staff are wonderful.
The amenities in the room are excellent, the staff were all very courteous, helpful and attentive, the location is most convenient for places I want to go. The room however is much smaller than I would like, but next time I will choose a bigger room. I will be back and recommend this hotel to my friends.
Staff was great but room was too small. Sleeper sofa would not fully open up as positioned because of wall in front of it.
The staff was incredible! Only thing to think about is the elevators are very small so if you have a lot of luggage you might have to make 2 trips. Other than that the room was clean and comfortable! Would recommend.
Rubens, Buckingham Palace Road
The reception and all interface was excellent. In several of my previous visits I was distressed to find an arrogance or indifference in the staff. It was delightful to find that this had now all, quite suddenly evaporated,
Top notch hotel
Fabulous hotel with super attentive and friendly staff. A classy place to visit and take in the feeling of history
The staff are incredibly welcoming and the hotel is comforting and clean.
Beautiful hotel and staff. Made us feel like royalty!
Lovely stay! Staff very polite
Great location, just very busy.
Very comfortable stay and perfect area for where we that evening
A fabulous 3 night stay. Reception staff and door staff were very polite and friendly. Cocktails in the New York bar were delicious!
Great people and location room was a little small but fine
Our Stay.
Amazing Hotel, service, ate in the English Grill and food was top notch and the guy at the entrance was brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay
Not sure why or how we had VIP - we didn’t receive any of the perks. I think the classic rooms are over looked on the type of service you’ll receive. Not complaining it was an excellent experience.
Beautiful hotel and great staff! Is also located next to a shopping mall with a few food options, and within a 5 minute walk to Victoria Station. Honestly, the only complaint I have would be their price on laundry. I was planning on doing laundry while there (I had a 9 day trip to London and Edinburgh) because it was my last stay before heading back, and I noticed on their website it advertised laundry. It wasn't a lie. They offer laundry services, but the prices are astronomical. They wanted (and I clarified) 6GBP PER PAIR of SOCKS! A shirt was 13GBP. I didn't think that too terrible. But hey! That was my only complaint. Also, there's a 15 GBP / day service charge. I don't recall seeing that advertised anywhere, but I could have missed it.
Every member of staff was so welcoming and kind. They all went above and beyond to make our experience exceptional.
Location was perfect. Room is small and bath smaller with shower in a small tub got water everywhere. Decor nice and very convenient. Had everything you needed.
Across the street from the Royal Mews and Kings gallery! Lots of restaurants, shopping and close to Underground station at Victoria.
One night stop in london
Great one night stop. Great location and easy to get to. Very friendly and helpful staff.
The Rubens always lives up to our expectations. Classic London Hotel overlooking Buckingham Palace. We had a problem with the shower but it was immediately resolved and we we’re compensated with complimentary breakfast.
Food was too expensive, especially for breakfast!
We had a view of the hotel's A/C unit. Not exactly what i had in mind for the last bit of our honeymoon. They cleaned the room at every opportunity, but didn't remove the trash. We were confused my this.
Amazing experience. Everyone was so polite and the customer service is 5 stars. I will definitely be staying again.
Pleasant Stay in London
Greeted by friendly, knowledgable staff & always very attentive to our needs especially when dining & entering & leaving the hotel.
The bed was terribly uncomfortably, the service was inconsistent. Terrible smell of fish in the hotel, all the time. Doorman not available at certain times. Overall i was not impressed with the hotel
Excellent location and staff was great
We LoVED our 4 nite stay at the Rubens! Room was a little small for an Executive King & bathroom was barely movable for one person, but the hotel & its location across from the Royal Mews was outstanding !
Pros: • Convenient location to Underground (transportation) & tourist stuff • Nice interior design of hotel, including room • Doormen are very nice & helpful, especially Pascal • Staff is attentive • Bed is firm (could be a negative for some) • Nice bathroom tub faucet and sprayer, has ceiling-mounted “rain” shower-head • Staff will call you daily to see if all is ok; I found this nice, but disruptive to me (I requested they not call me) Cons: • Restaurant is highly overpriced (English breakfast is $68, and unremarkable) • Bathroom lighting is extremely bad; strong down-lights, a show-stopper for women putting on make-up or if you want to see how you look before you go out • Upon arrival, they disclose that they are automatically charging you a discretionary $20 per-day service charge for front-of-house staff; the fee is optional, but most will not go through the effort to have them reduce or remove the fee (this is another way for them to increase revenue) • E-mailed a question to Guest Experience Manager regarding directions, and it took her over a week to receive a reply; I had returned from London by then • Room maintenance is poor; air-conditioning was broken in room, sink clogged, and light bulbs burnt-out (Housekeeping should be monitoring condition of room instead of burdening guests to report and witness maintenance) • Paying extra for a view of the Royal Mews was a waste and a determent; you face a busy noisy street, and you can see virtually nothing of interest
Splurge!
The hotel is in a great location near buckingham palace. It’s pricey but has a high end vibe( doorman, Terry robe).
Excellent hotel Beautiful decor comfortable rooms amazingly friendly and helpful staff Location to palace, underground station and attractions was fantastic Would defintely stay again and higly reccommend staying there!
Was a lovely hotel. Staff were extremely pleasant. Found restaurants on the high side of price with many better options in the area. Overall a good place to stay
Service was excellent, very good location. Highly recommended.
It is amazing from the moment you arrive. Absolutely love this hotrl and our 3rd stay at the gorgeous hotel with amazing staff experiences throughout our stays!
You cannot beat the location. We have great transit access and many sites are within walking distance.
Beautiful hotel , very nice front desk and concierge people
We loved this hotel!!
What a fantastic property! The staff made our stay so comfortable and pleasant. They always greeted us and had a smile or sweet remark for us every day. We felt like we were staying with family (the ones you like). The room was larger than some of the British hotels that you may stay in; we would have liked a tad more storage but quite frankly the location can't be beaten (hello, King Charles is your neighbor). There are tons of eating establishments nearby, Victoria Station is a short distance away and there are tons of cabs. Cabs are so much better than Uber; you get tons of information and sightseeing done with them that you just don't get from Uber. All in all, we are so happy we stayed at The Rubens! Until next time!
Buckingham Palace in walking distance
Wonderful
Charming hotel with lovely classic decor, restaurants were good and high tea was awesome. Silvu at the New York bar was awesome. Rezs was great too.
i
Old world charm and elegance. The rooms are luxurious as are the amenities. Service is exceptional from the moment you arrive. Every staff member is friendly and ensure your stay is as comfortable and pleasant as possible. Would definitely recommend.
Otherwise the hotel was excellent but the fine dining should have stayed open on the bank holidays
Amazing!!
My 10 year old daughter and I came to the Rubens for four nights and had an absolute blast! The accommodations were well-maintained, the staff were delightful and exceedingly helpful, and the location could not be beat. Only a block from the Royal Mews, two from Buckingham Palace, a stone's throw from the Victoria tube station, and walkable to Westminster/Parliament and a lot of other tourist locations. We did not eat at the hotel other than afternoon tea on one of the days we were there, but the food was delicious and the waitress was delightful; the "princess" tea was perfect for my hot chocolate-loving daughter. We will absolutely come back to stay at the Rubens again for a future trip!
The service is unmatched. The breakfast was WOW!!! However the room was a bit musty and the soap they use just stinks.
5 star luxury
We stayed for a weekend and had the most magical time. It was lovely to get proper 5 star service from the minute we walked in to the time we had to check out.
Great location! Friendly people and great staff!
Excelente place to stay
Great hotel! Will stay there again.
Central to what we were doing- super friendly and clean.
We loved the location for it’s proximity to Buckingham Palace and the beautiful St James Park Our room looked ou to the Mews Our room was spotless and staff were extremely attentive The hotel definitely had an old worldliness to it!
We enjoyed our stay at Rubens at the Palace. The room in the end was much smaller than I thought it would be. I reserved a queen and the bed was a full. Very tight for two adults. The bed was also very short! Nicely decorated rooms, with great amenities. Overall, we had a nice stay. The building is beautiful and the staff was very polite and helpful. The door man Pascal was a delight! Great location!
The staff and service was excellent Great location easy for everything - would recommend for future travel
The shower in our bathroom was hard to adjust the water room 321
Superlative, helpful staff
Outstanding staff, top in all respects. They were truly attentive to all of our needs and went out of their way to do so. We look forward already to our next stay.
The staff are really why the place is so great -- and the history. The staff were dilligent, earnest, and thoughtful. What more can you ask for in a hotel?
My second time at the Rubens. Room was lovely and the staff attentive and professional. My wife and I enjoyed High Tea and were spoiled. Will be back again!
Very upscale
location buckingham palace , royal mews, great pubs victoria station, restaraunts and more. Hotel very classic English tradition with High Tea
The staff were outstanding. The location was perfect, right next to the Buckingham Palace. Our doorman, Pascal, was so accommodating and engaging. Highly recommend.
Nice rooms
I was so unsure how to rate this hotel...it is priceier than normal for us but as a special 40th anniversary treat we stayed for 2 nights...not really the hotels fault, but their elevator was broken What most bothered me was that there was no senior staff in the lobby directing everyone to the staff elevator...they said you had to walk up...we did 3x to the 4th floor then a nice young bellman took pity on me...I am 66 years old with 2 recently broken legs and said take the staff elevator...this should have been available to all...not only randomly As I could not walk down for a glass of wine, I ordered room service...1 glass...18 Pounds and a 7 pound 50 delivery charge...$50 Canadian dollars for a glass of wine I would have thought that with the lift broken they could have waived that Nice room...incredibly expensive drinks and sandwiches $180 CDN for 3 glasses of wine and 1 sandwich in lobby bar Broken elevator ruined what was a very special weekend
Fantastic property with a world class staff. Everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating. We would absolutely stay at this hotel again.
Fabulous hotel, awesome location and the staff are friendly and extremely helpful. The only negative part of our stay was the out of service elevator. We were on the 3rd floor and it was a bit of a climb after a long day of walking…but we managed.
This was our second stay at the Rubens at the Palace. Both times we brought two of our granddaughters. It is a beautiful hotel in a great location. It has the intimacy of a small hotel with all the amenities. We especially love the breakfast room.
Another great vacation at The Rubens at the Palace
My room was immaculate and nicely furnished. My dinner and service in the English Grill was outstanding.
This is very nice hotel. The best part was the staff, specifically Jason at the New York Bar. He's more than a professional. He is a natural. He took time to ask what we liked and made works of art for us. To call them cocktails doesn't do them justice. You can see his passion for his work in every drink he makes.
Nice to return to a familiar place.
Great location, entire staff was friendly and attentive!
Beautiful property however the room they put us in originally was DRAMATICALLY different than the pictures. We asked to be changed and they did so however we weren’t in our room until after 4:30pm. I dined at the restaurant and mentioned the dining discount. They couldn’t apply it and said it would be resolved at checkout. It wasn’t. Nice property but next time I’ll book direct so the quality of the room and service are matched. Would definitely stay again and location can’t be beat!
Great stay. Bar service slow
Elegant hotel
The staff was very friendly, professional and helpful. The location was perfect. Our only disappointment was that the room was very small.
We was very happy at this hotel
Location and reception are great
The Rubens is top notch. Friendly and helpful staff. Afternoon tea was a great experience. I was a little disappointed by the size of the room. Victoria station is a 4 min walk. Buckingham Palace is right across the street.
Olivia the manager and the bell hops were nice. The others at the desk were useless. Our keycode didnt work 2 days in a row. We had to get new keys to get back in our room. the bathroom door hinge was loose and wouldnt close. I told them about it but they never came to fix it. Our phone charger cord went missing from the nightstand after a cleaning. Rooms were tiny. Outlets were positioned poorly so water kettle for instant coffee had to go on floor next to bathroom where you needed curling iron plugged in at same time when getting ready. Btw, it was broken and wouldnt turn on. Also stubbed toe on door stopper located in center of floor isle when accessing bed. Bed was a double when we ordered a queen. No mini fridge available. No room to keep suitcase open so had to remove suitcase from Closet every time i needed something. No drawers to put clothes away. Bathroom door just clears toilet so no more than 1 person in bathroom at a time. Bathroom door should open out of bathroom rather than in but the engineers who designed this place were not too smart. Wouldnt serve me takeout coffee from bar at arrival. Complimentary coffee in lobby only available starting at 7am so leaving earlier for day tours, you need to go to a cafe 1st. It should start at 6am.

I liked the people that work there. Extremely friendly, helpful, accommodating. The vicinity to most tourist locations was fabulous.
