Beautiful ! And bigger than I thought.
In need of update
Have been staying in this hotel for years. Regrettably its starting to look worn. Had a spa room, and I believe the tub was never cleaned during my stay.
Second time staying...very nice hotel.
The room was amazing and spacious. It felt like I was at home.
The room reeks of mildew. It was most likely from the carpet, but could have been the A/C, which barely worked. The shower drain was very slow, toilet not functioning properly. Front desk staff was aloof. Front door staff very friendly. Restaurant was good, but terribly overpriced. Raheem was the shining star. Friendly and attentive. Our VIP perk was to not have to pay the amenity fee, but we had to hassle for over an hour with Expedia to get that credit. Gym was nicely appointed and useful, though equipment was on the fritz.
Absolutely fantastic food especially breakfast
This hotel will be a staple for our DC trips. Location is perfect. The hotel is stunning and the service is top notch. The staff is there for you as soon as you arrive.
The restaurant was ok but the food was only mediocre
Great stay at the Royal Sonesta Dupont Circle!
The location is perfect, the staff friendly and courteous, and the hotel and room are modern and very clean. I thought the bed was exceptionally comfortable! The fitness center is well equipped and roomy. While we didn't eat at Certo, we had drinks at the bar and the bartender was also exceptional in his knowledge and presentation with drinks, and also very courteous. The only downside is the cost of the valet parking - it is very expensive. If you can arrive via Metro or work out alternate means for arrival, I highly encourage it. I think street parking is free during the weekends, but that only equals one night of savings.
Great hotel. Restaurant was delicious. Staff was very helpful. The room was huge. Almost the size of a 1 bedroom apartment. I loved it.
Great hotel! Friendly staff! Clean and great restaurant! Very walkable to all DC's sights
nice location
Would Stay Again
The price for the area can’t be beat! It was noisy at times from neighbors blasting music, but the room was kept very clean and supplied well. The staff was dressed nicely and were nice. I would absolutely stay here again.
The staff was very nice. We were there with our family to see the sites in DC. The location was easy to get to the metro, had good food options, and lots to do in the area.
Good location, nothing else
I stayed for 5 nights. Staff and valet were welcoming. My initial impression of the room was that it was fine until I started looking a bit closer. I REALLY WANTED to love it, but I just couldn’t. There were spots on the ceiling above the bed. There was a red stain on the carpet next to the bed that looked like it could have been koolaid or Gatorade. The yellow chair that was at the desk was stained. The outlets and plugs were in disrepair. There were some spots on the walls. The smell wasn’t bad, but it was more of a musty smell. The jetted tub worked fine though the control buttons were placed upside down. Thermostat was average. The vent for the fan was very dirty. The restaurant was overpriced and not good. I ordered a pasta dish that was supposed to be ‘handmade’. The pasta noodles were very dry and not very fresh. The ‘Signature Margherita’ pizza was not special. For $30 it was a small pizza with some cheese, cherry tomatoes, and whole basil leaves plopped right on it. Unimpressive presentation and average pizza shop taste. These photos were taken from a video that I took on my arrival to the room. There are lots of fees that are not outwardly mentioned upon booking so pay attention to the fine print. On top of the valet parking fee, there is a garage tax daily. There is $100/day incidental charge. There are destination fees daily which are also taxed. There is a separate DC hotel occupancy tax. None of these fees are included in your nightly rate. Very expensive.

Good stay
Wonderful property. Cannot speak highly enough about the staff, environment, and the location of this hotel.
My stay at Royal Sonesta Dupont Circle was a disaster. The bench in front of the bed was filthy, the heater was broken, and the shower didn’t work, maintenance had to come multiple times, and the water pressure was still awful. The hair dryer was so deteriorated I didn’t dare use it. The walls were paper-thin, and I could hear everything from the neighboring rooms. To top it off, I was overcharged by more than $200 because they duplicated the daily hotel fees on my account, and I’m still waiting for my deposit back. Even the restaurant bill was deceiving. Never staying here again.
Love it my second time staying there
Great hotel and location
Perfect location
The stay was great!
We Enjoyed Our Stay
Hotel was clean. Stuff was friendly. David is great. He was able to accommodated us quickly when our spa tub wasn't working. Upgraded our room and late check-out. Thanks to David
Eh…
It was fine.. except I had to change my room because the heat didn’t work. Then it took me 3 attempts to get a microwave sent to my room. Then there was an alarm going off that demanded everyone evacuate the building. Need I say more?
I loved staying there, was a quaint but wonderful time in a bustling city
The employees where very nice. The room was spacious . Beds very comfortable. Every request was met with speed and pleasantry. The location was an ideal spot lots of unique shops and restaurants nearby. Located about 2 mi from the national Mall. It was chilly in the morning so we ubered and then walk back. We felt super safe It was always groups of people walking around. So much to see wonderful architecture everywhere you look. Can't wait to go back and do it again.
Staff was great

I had a great stay! The staff were very accommodating and had amazing customer service.
No Easy Parking Got An Ticket
Great Hotel!
It was excellent! Beds are amazing and love the sheets! Very clean and sparkling bathroom, very quiet rooms and we had a citi view room! Offered an hour late check out and there were no issues! Breakfast at Certo, the lobby restaurant, was amazing!
Great Customer Service
Excellent, Great comfort, quiet and clean.
Loved it!
3 Nights Near Dupont Circle
Overall a good experience. The one drawback was that the TV in my room didn't communicate with the cable service, so no guide for channels, no information about the programming, and there was no list of channels even for reference, though there 3 remote controls in the room. And I was supposed to receive VIP rewards, which I did, but only after inquiring. If I were running a hotel, I would confirm with each guest upon checkin what their benefits were for the stay. On checkout, I had to request the invoice be redone because my $15 f&b credit hadn't been applied for breakfast that morning , even though clarifying at checkout that I had used the restaurant and produced the receipt. Breakfast was good, but I feel they should seriously rethink the potatoes, and give guests another option for the dishes that include potatoes. I believe they had been boiled, then roasted, or maybe just boiled?
Great location, nice room, very helpful staff
I enjoyed the convenience of the property it DuPont circle. The restaurant was a nice place to eat upon arrival. The staff was super helpful and kind. Would stay here again. If looking to be nearer to the White House, etc this is a solid 35 minute walk but definitely walkable.
Overall great hotel
Does not prioritize customer experience
At 01:30 on our first night, water started pouring through our bathroom ceiling. We immediately called the front desk and used our remaining towels to contain the water as best we could. At 01:45, they called us back saying the tub above us overflowed and gave us more towels. Thinking it was done, we went to sleep until we got a phone call at 02:30 saying the maintenance guy was outside our door. I asked for a new room and was hung up on. I called back and the front desk very begrudgingly gave us a new room, like we were inconveniencing them. On the second morning, we got a wake up call at 06:50 that we did not place. Out of two nights, both nights messed up by something with next to no level of concern by the front desk.
A lovely stay. The staff were friendly & professional from the moment I entered. I only stay a night but it was very clean and well stocked with the things I needed. I typically feel the need to do my own sanitation before but there was absolutely no need.
Loved how spacious the studio rooms are and so close to so many great restaurants
I had an amazing stay . The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and beautifully decorated. I’ll definitely be back.
Room was old and outdated. It wreaked of dewy rug. Smelled as if the carpet had been rained on with animals in there and left to air dry in a closed vented room. The walls were super thin where you could hear everything in other rooms. Valet lost our car keys because the staff took them home and could not be reached until 2hours later. I got a full refund, however, only after I asked because of the amount of inconvenience they caused me on my business trip. The room I purchased was not the room I got. The shower was not a walk in but instead a tub. The general manager was very apologetic and seemed to want to do everything possible to help. I would not stay here if you can avoid it. $61 $10.98 for parking a night. $35 a day for destination fee. $5.58 for destination occupation tax a night. $200 deposit will not cover a two night stay with valet. You will owe exactly $25.12 at the end of a two night stay. Anything more than two nights will cost more out of pocket. This is a precise price for two nights so take it as you will.
They tried to sell me an upgrade but I declined
The Royal Sonesta was listed on Expedia for approximately $100 per night (foolishly, I thought it might be offered at that price because there was little going on in DC in early February). With all their unlisted extra, but required, fees it came to $270 per night (no upgrade, no additional services). Breakfast for two in their dining room was $75 (eggs, bacon, toast, coffee, no fruit, no juice). Our room (#811) was small, no chair other than a small desk chair and we could only open one suitcase at a time. One of the lights in the bathroom was coming out of the ceiling. Bed was comfortable but pillows were oversized making them uncomfortable. Hotel was clean and staff was helpful.
Thinks walls. Can hear people in the halls and even above you which is very annoying. Also, I like to sleep in the cold and the room doesn’t get cold even after setting it at a low temperature. Not impressed.
Wonderful
Ok
Very quiet. And that's a good thing.
Nice
Enjoyed my time and they were very nice at the front desk all the time
Great location, very clean and safe.
Our room was just mediocre. I have stayed at this property many times and have found it to be excellent but this time Our room was not great
THE FIRST ROOM I WAS ASSIGNED TO FACED OTHER ROOM WITH NO PRIVACY OR VIEW AT ALL I HAVE TO COMPLAIN AND I WAS CHANGED TO ANOTHER ROOM MUCH BIGGER AND WITH NATURAL LIGHT. WHICH WAS MY ONLY REQUEST WHEN I MADE THE BOOKING. THE FRONT DESK WAS ALWAYS CROWDED, WITH A MAXIMUM OF 2 PEOPLE WORKING DURING THE DAY AND A LINE OF PEOPLE WAITING. I DIDNT LIKE THE SERVICE.
All good
Always friendly and dog accommodating. Love staying here!
Great location and lovely spot to stay in DC
Great
Cool digs
The hotel gave me a large room on an upper floor and a daily food credit. I also made use of one of the bikes on two days. Great way to get around DC. Staff was helpful over all. Restaurant is a bit expensive but good. Gym is solid.
I would stay at Royal Sonesta again
Liked the color scheme of the room- however, could not figure out the thermostat-room was cold! Water pressure in the shower was low
Very comfortable bed!
Recommends to others
Mr
All was well
It fit my need for a Dupont Circle hotel very well.
Booked this location from Fri thru Mon. But midway thru our stay we realized how terrible the road conditions would be as DC was expecting 10 inches of snow beginning Sunday night. So I went to the front desk and asked if we left early, could we get a partial refund for the unused night? The front desk told me yes if we were out by 4pm. That heavily influenced our decision to leave early and we packed and checked out. After checking out, we were THEN told that a refund wasn’t possible since we used a 3rd party site. Hotels.com chat said that wasn’t true and it lead to a huge back and forth that resulted in 0 results. Terrible to not help your customers when a severe winter storm was coming. Not staying here again and I’m hesitant to ever use Hotels.com again.
The hotel is smartly renovated as a modern with a historic twist. The staff is super friendly. Front desk folks genuinely smile (and even taught me how to use an elevator lol).
Sort of Like Staying in a Kennel
Lots of dogs. Big dogs. Barking dogs. The property was in a good location and was a good value at the time I booked, although the resort fee is a ripoff. Just charge a fair price for the room.
It is clean, and the location is excellent. When I arrived, I struggled with my luggage at the door and there was no employee around for assistance. It was noisy at midnight in the rooms surrounding me but those occupying those rooms did settle down not long after that.
Great value & incredible location
Room was clean, spacious, bed and linens sumtuous, bathroom lovely. Coffee and bottled water provisions were provided in abundant proportions. We were disappointed with the 11:00am check out which I found to be especially early. I'd stay here again gladly, even not withstanding my disappointment being kicked out so early.
The staff was very friendly
nice
Amazing place sneaky prices
Loved the Royal Sonesta but man they snuck on so many fees that my stay costed double what we were estimated. Thought I had a good deal but ended up feeling burned in the end. This ain’t to say it wasn’t worth the money but we maybe have looked at other places knowing the end cost.
Conveniently located. Clean.
Property is quite dated and not up to scratch for a Royal Sonesta.
Me gustó lo amplia de la Habitación, la limpieza, y lo cómoda de sus camas y el aroma agradable
I love it! Breakfast was amazing! Beautiful room and great location!
Room was dirty, jetted tub did not work. We asked maintenance to come and fix it but was unable to. Begged for another room that was fully functional and were given another room but the tub had the same issue. Was charged a resort fee which we asked to be removed for at least one night due to the issues with the first room but nothing was done besides moving us to a room with the same issues.
Poor condition. E had to change rooms because heat didn’t work, temperature control on shower didn’t work correctly, remote for tv had to be replaced and lights were so dim you couldn’t shave.
Nice rooms, great staff, prime location.
The room was amazing. Hotel is in a nice area. Would definitely stay again
Excellent and staff was really friendly
Good location
Nice hotel in central location
Very quiet, safe and convenient location.
Fees and Parking to expensive. I paid the same amount for stay
Iiked everything about the property
Be prepared to be blindsided by an $100 *daily security deposit. Stayed on 6th floor, the rooms smell like wet rug. The room above me had a hot tub leak so I was moved, but then that room had no heat, maintenance man couldn’t fix it after a 2 trips back n forth. I’m hoping to get refunded for the last day, we shall see. Rooms do look nice, hot tub is nice and restaurant attached is nice inside, wouldn’t come back though
Room are very spacious and clean.
Coveient and Classy Royal Sonesta
We went to DC to view the Impressionist Exhibit at the National Gallery. Staying just off Dupont Circle made our excursions easier. We enjoyed breakfast at the Royal Sonesta every morning and found the food and service excellent throughout our stay.
Fantastic place
Lovely property. With some of the biggest rooms arround
Huge room in a quiet corner of the hotel in a lively neighborhood. It was the perfect setting for a weekend getaway. One small detail...a lounging chair was missing...for next time. A buyout prevented me from enjoying Certo! their restaurant.
DuPont gem
Fantastic room, comfortable beds, easy DuPont Circle location. It was a great spot for our five night trip. The free breakfast was a hit as well.
It was really nice.
Great place to stay.
Water is slow to come out of tap.
The host, David, offered excellent customer service!
The staff were exceptionally polite and gracious. The room we got was spacious and well equipped, however there were some spots between the bed and night stand that didnt seem to have been cleaned in a while (dirt, paper, garbage from a previous stay). Otherwise, the room was comfortable and clean. The restaurant service was top tier with tasty breakfast that we enjoyed daily. Additionally, the bar was well stocked and the bartenders well-trained and courteous. I enjoyed my stay and will return in tbe future!
The only issue we encountered was a staff member let himself into our room "looking for keys he left." He knocked and entered immediately without waiting for us to open the door. It was extremely invasive and unprofessional.

Ok for a short visit
Not as good as the Sonesta Capitol Hill. No room service during the day. Room was on but not as clean as expected.
