Great place to stay

Love staying at the Sonesta. Right on the best beach in Puerto Rico, las Isla verde, it has a host of restaurants around it. Safe, comfortable, overall a solid property.

Bad experience

Very bad experience - we stayed there for 2024 Christmas. The first night, in the middle of shower, I found the shower gel bottle was empty, we called the front desk, standing in the shower for more than 10 mins, nobody send the shower gel. After shower and found the hair blower was broken. During the stay, there are always something not right - shower cap was not replaced, no free water bottles or just one (the hotel offers 2 free small water bottle per day), the cups were not replaced etc. Worst, we used one big water bottle ($8) since the cleaning person forgot to provide the free water bottle, the hotel charged us rightfully, it shows in our check out bill. then after we arrived home, we got another separate $8 charge on my credit card, I called and was given a ticket #, was promised that the hotel will respond shortly. No surprise - there is no response from anyone. I hope there is a zero star available.

I did t like the fact that although I was paying a lot of money, there was additional cost to get a beachfront beach chair or pool chair next to the pool. You are supposed to pay extra if you want premium resting spots.

This is by far the worst resort I have ever stayed. They were very understaffed and they did have all had very bad attitudes. Our room had a roach infestation. To make matters worse my wife and daughter have bed bug bites all over their bodies. I do not advise ANYONE to stay at this property.

Great property. Amazing poolside bar staff and housekeeping staff. Beach staff is great too but they need more towels and chairs for the higher than average resort fee that is charged.

Loved the new years Party. Room was clean , and bed was comfortable. Pool was great as well as the service.

Nice hotel and good service, but food choices limited. Only restaurant had scant breakfast buffet. All in all very nice hotel but not great for price.

Disappointed

Food is really terrible. Can’t even make good chicken quesadillas or grilled fish. Even tacos were terrible . The breakfast menu was limited and terrible . People are really friendly though and happy to help if need

We enjoyed our stay here. The property needs some TLC, but they’re trying to improve it. The jackhammer during the day was not desirable, but it’s understandable that they were trying to get it done in the off season. The dining options were pricey. Overall they staff was friendly and we enjoyed our stay.

Staff was amazing, rooms are clean, showers are relaxing, beds are super comfortable. We had an ocean front on 14th floor. Lots of food options outside of the resort. Cheap Ubers. All around amazing trip. Will be back!!!

We had a great experience overall. However, the Zen Spa was a waste of money and time. They didn’t notify us that our massage was pushed back so we still showed up 30 minutes early as requested then had to come back in a hour. The female employee at the front desk was rude, but ultimately discounted our massage because of that and the quality of the massage, which was still $400, tip included. Our room was also humid the entire time despite us turning down the thermostat.

The rooms are spacious and seems they were newly remodel. Definitely will stay there again!

En cuanto a lo positivo, la ubicación, la vista (increíble), la playa, y que dentro de la propiedad había casi todo lo que uno necesita. Lo negativo que la habitación tenía un poco de olor a humedad y algunos detalles de uso/de viejo. Pero súper recomendable y muy buena atención

Ideal property and location for a quick girlfriends get away. Grounds are gorgeous pools and hot tub clean and pretty. Beach is stunning and on the property. Restaurants are good and the bars are excellent. Rooms are spacious full of storage options clean,comfortable and quiet. We had ocean view and it was beautiful. Balcony is too tiny to sit on but you could stand on it. Minutes from the airport yet very quiet. Staff without exception are wonderful, especially Nestor the concierge. Already planning our return. Very very happy guests.

So cozy and close to everything. The pool is lovely! The beach is swim friendly, too!

We absolutely loved our stay and can’t wait to come back!

At our recent stay at royal sonesta. Loved the ocean side view. The convenience of being so close to the beach. The staff especially Effrain was very kind. We did reserve a vip beach cabana until pool closed. The only complaint we had. Was having to tell people it was reserved. We took a walk on the beach to come back to a family laying in our payed spot. Which they said , were told by staff , we hadn't been seen for a lil while so it was ok to be there. Other than that we had a wonderful stay.

The Royal Sonesto is the perfect choice if vacationing in San Juan. Its located just a few steps from the beach, oceanviews are spectacular and a short walk to local convenient stores. Antonio and Nester are concierge Rock Stars. They were the absolute best. Everyone on staff were very kind and helpful. My only complaint is the resort can get a bit pricey to eat and drink. If you're not a big eater, or if on a budget, choose dining selections wisely. The breakfast buffet in the hotel was $33pp.

Overall we had a wonderful time....the food although expensive was really delicious and service was impeccable...a few small thing to watch out for .... low water pressure in the shower and really thin pillows.

Nice vacation; has security at night friendly warm staff. Have cash for tips the back of house staff greatly appreciated it

Best service

We received some of the best service from any resort hotel that we have stayed in, which we have experienced a countless amount of hotel and resort services. The entire state was so relaxing and the amenities were top-notch and very convenient! We will be back!

Upon arrival the hotel seemed to be perfect however a few things went wrong we were overcharged for our breakfast for our children the pool hours were limited they closed every night at 9:00 p.m. and we were harassed by the security to get out even though it wasn't 9:00 p.m. yet my children were quiet and just wanted to hang out in the pool the hot tub was broken from the moment we got there until the very last day. We got stuck in the elevator for a moment our fridge in the hotel room Froze all of the food and drinks that we had so everything we had in there was frozen we couldn't eat it or drink it there for wasting. I will say the staff was excellent everyone seemed very accommodating hotel room was very clean and the maid service was very attentive bed and linens very very comfortable very easy to fall asleep at night I will say that the walls are thin not enough insulation definitely not sound proof not sure that we would choose this place again with our children.

This was my 1st time in Puerto Rico and staying at this resort. It was beautifully decorated clean and packed with amenities ... I will definitely be staying here again SOON!

the hotel was very nice. for the money a continental breakfast would have been nice rather than the $33.00 per person breakfast buffet. We ate dinner and lunch and both were pricey and the food wasn’t hot. Ruth’s Chris steakhouse however is very good and is attached to the hotel. Entrevinos across the street was also a nicer restaurant. we were charged 86 dollars a day resort fees that i was not aware of. perhaps i missed it when booking on expedia. i would stay again, the staff were great, but wouldn’t eat there.

It was beautiful. Only went for the weekend but wish i could have stayed for a week .

The original room had a smell embedd d in the carpet and was dated except for the bathroom. Changed to a suite at additional costs that was more suitable.

Once we got there we all the sudden had to pay 600$ in taxes and fees and we were unaware of all those charges! Also nothing came with the stay, we were unaware that we had to pay for breakfast and all those types of things. We were under the impression it was an all inclusive resort.

My husband and I spent four days here for our 30th anniversary, and we loved everything about the resort. The property is beautifully maintained and the pool area is gorgeous. The Royal Sonesta also has a private beach entrance with plenty of seating, umbrellas, and bar service on the beach. The ocean water was stunning and the Isla Verde beach is very swimmable. Staff was courteous and helpful--- and the ocean view room was breathtaking! We couldn't stop staring out the window!

Beautiful hotel with great pool and staff.

Nice hotel. Comfortable rooms-booked city room which have little to non existing balcony. Pretty pool area; unfortunately while we were there, there was a bee infestation at pool bar and beach restaurant was under construction. No organized activities during the day, would have been nice especially during rainy season. Not much to do in the evenings other than bar in lounge which didn't really offer anything exciting

Loved my stay at this hotel. Luis was our check in person he gave us tips, restaurant suggestions and a warm welcoming. I also want to take the time out to mention our room attendant Hilton who also was very warm and made sure me and my partner were not without. Loved closeness to the beach and the swim up bar. 10/10

Love the property overall. Well maintained. Great beach. Very hospitable and helpful staff! Super convenient location, SO close to the airport but NOT noisy at all from the planes. A couple of minor issues: opt for an inside facing room. We choose a "city view" room and the noise from the street over the weekend was enough to make me use ear plugs. Also, we had to keep calling housekeeping to bring more towels, for whatever reason they kept leaving less towels than we had people (we had 2 registered guests in the room, they left 1 bath towel a couple days in a row).

The best part was the beach but the rest was meh. Plus the neighborhood wasn’t great. I only stayed one night then went to a different hotel closer to the Old City.
