The beach is not good

Was perfectly safe and exactly as promised

Open layout, not to busy, but get up early to claim your spot by the pool or on the beach.

The hotel was amazing, the grounds are very well kept. The staff is wonderful. It was hard to get into the restaurants but the food at the buffet was pretty good. Watch out for the timeshare push when you arrive. All in all would recommend this resort.

The resort seems very thoughtfully designed, with most rooms having a view of the ocean. The grounds are beautiful and impeccably maintained. Service was the best I've experienced anywhere in Mexico, and our rooms were very clean. Added bonus - 4 great pickleball courts and two tennis courts, and a gym with good commercial equipment. Two members of our group had significant dietary allergies, and the chefs would confer with them and create dishes they could have, beautifully presented, and always with a smile. Highly recommend this resort.

Let me start by saying that the staff were polite and helpful. The building itself was pretty and for the most part clean. The drinks were well made and the food was pretty average. At breakfast you do have to order bacon it’s not out for the taking which was a little weird. Every single time you order a drink or eat they ask for the room number which gets a little annoying and we had the all inclusive bracelet so not sure why it mattered. We realized that there was a lot of time share people there. Thankfully they left us alone and didn’t try to sell to us. The downside to this resort is that the beach is very small and not really swimable. They also advertise things that are not available. My friend chose this place based on the availability to kyack. They advertised it every where but we were told no kyacks due to the weather (which was perfect) and the resort next door were allowing their guests out in them. So that was super disappointing. The shuttle into town was good. But only runs every couple of hours. This is definitely not a high end resort. But I can see how it works for families.

The hotel was not overly busy which created a relaxed atmosphere.

Safe and friendly resort. We went with our family and felt extremely comfortable. Staff were very helpful. Didn’t worry about the kids. Everyone was welcoming. Grounds were well maintained and the resort was clean. Yes there was some erosion to the beaches but they were still very enjoyable and with many public beaches within walking or biking distance we did not feel we missed out. There’s lots to do at the resort for all ages. Many options for day excursions near by including Tulum, snorkeling and Rio Secreto.

Everything was perfect!

Our family of 4, daughters 10 & 12 and friends went to this resort for 10 days in February 2025. I cannot say enough good things about our experience. The resort is beautiful, well maintained and manicured. The staff were very kind and considerate. The room was well appointed and spacious. While there are only a few main restaurants there are other eating options that are available certain times - the quality of the food and flavours were quite good. Not even our pickiest eater went hungry. The pools are set at such a nice temperature, very good swimming options. The beach has suffered extensive erosion, but we still enjoyed swimming every day in the sandy area. The beach is cleaned and seaweed is removed each morning. We did not use the kids club, although they did have an extensive area suited to young children. The evening entertainment was limited, but the shows they had were well done. Overall the only small details that I can say on a less positive level were that the tv package was very limited and we could not cast our phone to tv to play movies and the beds were a little firm.

Everyone was very nice and helpful and I think I would take my family back again because I really enjoyed myself

Perfect for the whole family

We have stayed at many all-iclusives in this area and this was by far our favorite. It depends on what your going for but for our family with three generations it was perfect. Something for everyone from Grandpa to Grandson. The food was also the best from all our experiences. We hope to come back.

Beautiful resort- exceptionally clean and the staff always welcoming and happily greeting you. We are VIP member for Expedia and we’re fortunate enough to get our room upgraded to the penthouse suite! Amazing for our family of 6. Due to recent hurricane there is beach erosion - however still some beach to walk along and we were able to walk over next door to enjoy some nice beach spots.

Read so many great reviews about this property only to be super let down. First off the “concierge” people are their sales reps for time share. Our person was Sabina and while she played the helpful card at the beginning as soon as we said we weren’t interested in the time share talk she ignored all messages. The food at the buffet was nothing to be excited about however major credit to the juice lady (she needs her own tip jar!). She made our mornings pleasant along with the server named Alberto. As far as the pool bar food definitely get the wings, tenders, burgers and fries and order the daily specials before they run out. The reservation only restaurants both had great food, no need to order the premium dishes as we did and they really weren’t that great in comparison to the food that was included in the all inclusive. Our room seemed clean however we had to stop using the A/C as it felt like it we were becoming congested only to find the a/c vents were full of dust. The grounds are well maintained as you constantly see their maintenance crew grooming and fixing something. As far as the service I felt it lacked a lot of intersection or interest in being of service. I had 12 people in my party, 2 of them being kids under the age of 10 and they both shared feeling like the servers were rude. So that tells ya something. As for the remainder of the adults who traveled with us, none were fascinated nor mentioned they’d return to this resort.

We did not enjoy time share sales.

Beautiful, clean, quiet property. The staff is amazing . The beach is lacking and needs major repair. I could have gone for more evening entertainment, but overall a great property!

The staff were all lovely. The hotel, although dated, was clean and the pool was nice. It was far too boring. It was mostly retirees and families with young children. After 6pm the place was quiet and nothing to do. We had to leave the resort every evening to go to Playa del Carmen. Limited shuttles from hotel so $20USD each way for 10 minute taxi. Limited food selection. Pool side food and Japanese restaurant were good. Great for seniors, and possibly priced right for young families. We booked on short notice because our initial travel plans to Cuba were cancelled by the airline (and it had availability).

Perfect holiday

Generally everything was good. Im 72 with bad legs. Way to big. Way too much walking. I used thier wheelchair. I was originally told they had no moterscooters. Only too find 4 days before i left they do have moterscooters to rent. Very disappointed too find out so later in my stay.

We frequent All Inclusive resorts yearly. This is a clean, large resort with great staff. They have massive pools and staff are all very friendly and helpful. If they tweaked a few things it could be one of the best resorts. You really get your moneys worth. Now here are the negatives.. No night life to speak of. Everything shuts down early so it’s great if you have a young family. If you don’t it’s boring. Wish the entertainment and activity teams did a little more through the day. The crowd around the pool enjoys it but it’s only later in the afternoon for an hour. Also no music playing at any of the pools. Would be nice to make things a little more lively. Only one place to get alcohol after dinner is a bummer because it’s a big place. Makes it annoying when watching the night show having to walk pretty far a beer in a paper cup. Last negative in regards to food. No tacos the whole week we were there. Come on no tacos😨

The hotel/resort was immaculate and well maintained.

Stayed for 7 days all inclusive. Excellent food! We mostly ate at the buffet which was great! We did one dinner at kinoko for the teppanyaki which our concierge helped us book and it was so delicious and fun for the kids. Check in was a breeze. We travelled with kids ranging in ages 3-8years and it was perfect for them. Not too big where they were tired from walking and just enough different things/areas to keep them entertained. The resort was very clean and grounds were well maintained. The resort is also very stroller/ wheelchair accessible. Ramps leading everywhere. The beach has suffered from erosion but we are pool people so it didn’t bother us too much. All in all we had a great stay! Highly recommend for families with young children. It also never felt overly busy. Always chairs available and never had to wait for a table to eat.

Not as many restaurants as other all inclusive we have stayed at BUT the food was very good at the restaurants you needed reservations at. Sad to not have much of a beach but they are working on it.

Just returned from a week at Haciendas. It was great from start to finish. Beautiful property, Comfortable rooms, Good food, Family friendly, Quaint. The staff are all very friendly and helpful.

The hotel was exceptionally clean and the grounds were beautifully maintained. Our 5 year old son loved the pools and the wood fired pizza from Luna Grill. The waitstaff were all so friendly and always had a smile for us. If you are looking for an easily accessible beach, this is it the place for you. The beach erosion is terrible leaving the water almost inaccessible. NOT the hotel’s fault at all. We were able to walk down the beach a bit (maybe 10 min walk) and found beautiful beaches reminiscent of what one would expect of a beach in Mexico. I think the hotel is ideal for young families as there are lots of options for food and snacks. We didn’t eat at any of the restaurants other than the buffet and poolside grills. All 3 were good but the poolside grills were definitely better options for us. As an aside, we are Canadian and had difficulty with using our CIBC Visa and bank card. We have travelled a fair bit and have never encountered an issue like this before. It was fine as we had American cash but to settle the bill, the hotel prefers you pay in pesos or credit card. I think the hotel caters to more Americans as I did not encounter any other reviews indicating these issues. Likely whatever bank they use does not accept CIBC and the front desk staff did indicate this had been an issue for other Canadian travellers. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend this resort to anyone travelling to Playa del Carmen!

The pools and property are top notch. Food was great and staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more welcoming. The Asian restaurant was superb (went twice for steak and chicken hibachi). Our room was comfortable and slept well. We will return without question.

Food was ok, not convinend because you have to reserve every evening one day prior and usually they were full. The staff (customer service ) at the main restaurant (breakfast/ lunch) was not very friendly. I would not recommend this place

Everyone was so friendly

We were there for a wedding, we liked the property but we did not like how everything ends at 10 pm, including bar. They are lacking entertainment. If you are a beach lover, this place is not for you. We could not get in due to the amount of driftwood . We had to go closer to town to swim in ocean. Also, you need to remember your room number to get towels, get food etc. even thought they put a bracelet on you. Make sure to write your room Number on your key card.

Great for all ages Be prepared for sales pitch for time share but once you said no they didn’t bother.

We really enjoyed our family time at The Royal. The property was beautiful, clean and very well maintained. The staff was amazing!! The rooms were roomy and fit our large family very comfortably. We really enjoyed the drinks and good. The only down fall, we wish there would have been more activities and shows for teens and young adults. Other than that we had a wonderful time!

Very clean property, very attentive staff, the buffet was overall good food except for the Asian night, skip that. The steak and seafood restaurant was very good. Rooms are dated but clean, beds are very hard. No shows or night life to speak of. If you want to relax and unwind, this is the place to go.

We loved our stay. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The only thing I didn’t like was the food. The options were limited and to use the two restaurants you had to make a reservation which was hard to get in and was prioritized to members. Pool was great and the two grill restaurant around the pool made it convenient to have a bite or a drink.

(Stayed Jan 2025) - This property was really nice but somewhat dated. Everything was really clean, the landscaping was beautiful, and staff were amazing. From stepping out of our transportation (shoutout to Ocean Transfers) to check-in was very easy. The bellhop arrived very quickly with our bags. The Concierge is the only way you could make reservations and that was somewhat annoying. The Mexican food was authentic and DELICIOUS. You have your normal tropical drinks but The chocolate martini and Expresso martini were awesome. We had a 10 YO and 4 YO with us. The kids club is tucked in the back and kind of vacant. We never utilized it as there were not kids for ours to play with. The kids pool is tucked in the back and somewhat a walk from the main pools and beach. You felt tucked away

We had to ask for our upgraded room, as they originally placed us in a room facing away from the ocean when we specifically booked and paid for an ocean view room.

Amazing all inclusive stay! People so nice and property is clean and beautiful. Lot of activities and shows! I will definitely revisit Only downside is the beach who was eroded in past years but they started rebuilding it.

Beautiful Mexican style building and decor, clean and the yard/gardens were lovely! Only thing that was disappointing was the beach as it’s still not cleaned up from the hurricane and the pics showed clean white sand.

A lot of beach erosion, which is no one's fault but the website should reflect this. The hotel photos showing the beach is incorrect, you cannot walk around the restaurant out the front, the base of the restaurant is in the ocean. You cannot swim at this beach as erosion has taken away the sand and old trees, roots and branches are sticking up out of the sand. Food variety was good although not used to just ONE chef making breakfast egg orders, so a long queue. Also, you had to ask your server for bacon as no trays of bacon at the buffet. Servers everywhere were excellent, friendly and would remember where you sat, what your room number was and what previous orders you had the day before, fabulous! Did NOT like the room bed configuration, two double beds. Not queens, but doubles. With a 6'2" long husband, I couldn't fit in the bed with him so we slept in the two separate beds. Sad when we were there for his birthday. Housekeeping was great, clean, tidy and neat rooms each day. Location great as you could hire hotel bicycles (free) and ride 10-12mins to the popular 5th Avenue shops. Disappointed with the Concierge as I asked him two days prior to make a reservation for my husband's 60th birthday dinner for four. We dressed up, went to the restaurant, no reservation, not even a spare table for us. Checked with Concierge and he had the cheek to say we hadn't asked him to make a booking - really???!!! Don't think we will come back again.

The staff were top notch If you’re not a Hotel “Member” don’t expect to get into the a la cart restaurants. They get first choice. Didn’t like that. Should be available to everyone first come first serve Hopefully the beach will be restored soon

Great pools and kids actives

Two things out of the hotels control limited the opportunity for this to be a great vacation. The beach is worse than I've ever experienced (has been for at least 5 years from what I heard) and the weather which featured liquid sunshine or clouds the entire time we were there. Natael and the show cooking staff were an amazing server for many meals but the rest of the wait staff was subpar. Housekeeping was nonexistent and overall was lacking in comparison to other hotels like the Royal Sands where this hotel was supposed to be an upgrade to stay at. Unfortunately unlikely to return unless some major changes are made

The property is nice however getting reservations for the restaurants is a hassle. Our check in was terrible. The agent (Susana) wasnt helpful and didnt tell us anything about the resort. We had to figure it ourselves which was very unpleasant. Definitely not coming back AGAIN!!!

Overall a very nice stay. The only drawback was the not having a nice beach, which has eroded a lot.

Property is a bit dated, but staff is nice. Rooms are big and beds are comfortable. Time share sellers are somewhat intense, but entertainment is nice, also for the kids. Pool could be warmer and jacuzzi is absolutely not a jacuzzi (just another cold Pool). Food is ok. Weird mix, no fruit or very little mornings, a bit more in the afternoon. Usually good taste, but servers were a bit disorganized. Pool palapa ended up being the fastest, nicest service.

We expected a beach and ocean access. There was no beach and poor ocean access.

This place is a GEM!

Overall we really enjoyed this resort. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The concierge desk is just a somewhat helpful timeshare pitch, but they still make reservations and provide information, and were fairly easy to evade the sales pitch. There is no nightlife so if that’s what you’re after this is not the place for you. Same with the beach- if that is important you will be disappointed. The pools were nice, there was ceramic painting onsite every day, the kids club activities looked fun, but our children never took part. The market onsite is convenient, fairly well stocked, and the prices aren’t terrible. The buffet was average. The Mexican night was disappointing, the BBQ and Italian nights were quite good, and breakfast was good. The pizza at the pool as well as the burgers were quite good. The price was right, the location is decent and we would stay again.

This was a wonderful property for our family of five! We had a great villa that allowed us to have two bedrooms and then a common area in the middle. We loved this! We have been to many all-inclusive, and this was a great choice! The food was very good and the staff was amazing. Thank you!!

We LOVE this resort. It’s our second year back and it was even better than before. Food was great, fresh and tons options for family members ranging in age from 5 to 75! Multiple areas for live music and entertainment every night. Extremely clean and well kept rooms and grounds. The staff MAKE this resort. Incredibly personable, friendly, and helpful. We loved our stay and will definitely be back. Only downside is the beach, but hopefully it will be a work in progress over the next few years.

Food chooses limited and the nicer restaurants that we worked hard to even get into because they hardly seat anyone is the 2 times someone in our group got sick!

Facility and grounds are immaculate and very well maintained. Amenities are very nice and clean. Food and service are hit or miss. Beach is unfortunately not very good, heavy sand erosion, rocks, roots and rough surface. This is not a true "all inclusive" but rather a "time share" which tries to double-up as such. This creates inconveniences which are not mentioned upfront and are very irritating when they occur. Like, you may have to change a room in the middle of your stay or your room keys stop working because the system resets all room codes on Saturday afternoon and requires you to go to front desk for a reprogram.

Property was good. Beach was not. It was small and a lot of debris. Also the steak restaurant had steak that had to be paid for even though we had the all inclusive package which was disappointing.

Wonderful Christmas at Royal Haciendas

Our family of four had an amazing 2-week stay at The Royal Haciendas over Christmas. We enjoyed pretty much everything about the resort and we will definitely go back! The pricing through Hotels.com was also the best available and we received a resort credit for being a Silver Member. Pros: Very clean Helpful staff Great food (generous all inclusive) Spacious, well designed rooms Warm, clean pools Good facilities including a kids club Value for money Cons: Small beach Timeshare sales

The food was the only redeeming part of this resort. There was almost no beach and the water was not swimmable. It was actually dangerous with the debris in the water. We constantly were harassed to buy a time share. When we did sit down to hear the timeshare they bent the truth about the discounted stay to stay there next year at a discount. I would not recommend this resort

Great place for families

The beach was rocky. They also require you to move rooms for their timeshare customers on saturday.

We had a decent experience staying at the Royal Haciendas. The food is good especially the Asian fusion restaurant. But be aware it is really hard to get a table there as it is always fully booked. The beach is non existent don’t come here if you planning to spend time on the beach. A big portion of the beach has been claimed by the ocean and the resort has been left with a little to almost no beach. That small beach area is not maintained at all.

Thebfacilities are clean. The room for a family of 4 with 2 murphy beds were good spacous and clean. Access to beach is good. 2 large swimup bar pools and 2 large lap pools were very clean and pleassnt

Property was good, but the breakfast and lunch in and dinner needs lots of help. They do not keep up with the food. Lots of empty empty. The place can be a 5 stars if they do something with the buffets. A lot of comments with the food. Do not recommend anyone to this place And the timeshares ( smith ). They almost grab you by the throat if you say no. Smith was very very pushy

If you’re coming to Cancun to spend time on the beach, this is not the resort for you. The beach here is non-existent. It’s filled with tree branches, trunks, and lots of rocks, making it unsafe to enter the water. Specially with kids. Additionally, the service around the pools was disappointing. Many of the waiters were rude and seemed overwhelmed. For example, I asked for pizza for my kids, and the waiters would respond rudely, saying they’d get it but that it would take a long time because they had to walk across the resort. While I understand their workload, the tone and attitude were unnecessary. Be cautious when booking, as we were charged an additional $700 upon arrival. Apparently, Expedia had incorrectly listed my teenager as being 12 years old or under, even though the correct age was reflected on the flight tickets. The resort refused to help and insisted on the additional charge. The food and drinks were also underwhelming compared to other all-inclusive resorts I’ve visited. One night, after returning late from Xcaret, we tried ordering room service. We started calling at 10 p.m. to place an order before the menu changed at 10:30. Despite multiple attempts and even asking the receptionist for help, no one answered, and we ended up going to bed hungry.In summary, between the non-existent beach, poor service, extra charges, and mediocre food, I cannot recommend this resort. There are far better options in Cancun.

Very clean, friendly staff

Great place for Families. Rooms were very clean and the staff was awesome! We felt very safe at this Resort!

This resort is under rated. For us this resort is a 10 ! We have been traveling to Cancun since 1990! This resort experience was the very best. The food is outstanding and the property is impeccable. They were booked and it did not feel crowded. The staff was so kind especially Rapheal who was our concierge! I had a heart attack the last day of our visit and the staff was phenomenal We can not thank them enough!

Great staff, room services 24*7 and nicely maintained property- rooms, pools and overall resort is very clean. Restaurants in the resort are excellent in terms of service, menu and ambience Few things that didnt go well are 1. Delivery for room services takes over an hour 2. Lot of debris on the beach due to the recent storm 3. Limited cocktail options although you pay for all inclusive

Stay was great, Food was good. Lot of options. Great service and very clean amenities. All great! Only thing is the meeting they invited for 90 minutes for some presentation and extended it by 1 hour which made us to cancel other appointments and had cascading effects.

Staff is very friendly and courteous. Property is clean. Beverages were not good. For smokers, smoking areas are very limited and small. Brekfast was average. Lunch and dinner in general was good and delicious. There is no outdoor bar after 6 pm.

I went with my family and we had lots of fun and it’s a wonderful place to send quality time. We love the service and food.

The landscaping is lovely and the grounds are very clean and well kept. The pools are great, it was nice that they raised the water temperature for the last couple of days. It was nice to have the paths to stroll in the evenings. We enjoyed our meals, mostly at the Papala del Sol. Cornelio provided exceptional service, as did Luis. And Emiliano was always so cheerful. We did manage to get reservations at Los Murales and it was also very good, great service by Leonel, as well as the Hibachi restaurant. We really enjoyed the music and entertainers at the various restaurants. Our room was very comfortable and well kept by Adriana. The only annoyance was the clanging sound of the dive boat oxygen tanks being loaded when the went out in the early mornings. This didn't happen every day, thankfully. Edin at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. He is extremely efficient and professional. Thank you Edin, hope to see you again soon! Angelina, the supervisor at Palapas kept a close eye on the operations and Luisa was a great hostess. We went to Aquasizes led by Miguel and BJ, they are so energetic it is impossible to keep up but we enjoyed trying! Very humourous. The only issue we had was an interaction at the Luna Grill. Server Samuel was rude and condescending. Details are shared elsewhere. Elsie at the beverage bar at Papala made excellent healthy drinks and always had a smile. Overall, we had a great vacation and hope to return soon.

Clean, well maintained property. Staff is good. The only thing I don’t like is the time-share propaganda when I just wanted a relaxing vacation. But that’s par for the course at these all-inclusives I guess. We got free stuff for attending the sales meeting but won’t do one again.
