Nice Resort on the Beach

Located on Aksa Marve Beach, The Resort is good for a short holiday.

Beautiful resorts good staff but late service

The place is covered in mold and grime. They haven’t cleaned it in 10 years. We had to move rooms three times for mold in the bathrooms. Showers don’t drain properly. Mysterious dripping stains on walls and headboards. Tabletops dirty, bundles of other people’s hair on the floor, stains on the sheets. The hallway smelled like vomit for two days. The carpet is stained and musty. The stair case had dirt everywhere. The gym was covered in dandruff and hair. This place needs a health inspector visit. It was worse than the 3 star hotel we stayed in. The staff were rude and incompetent. Everything was a disgusting disappointment.

Adjacent to the beach, large gardens and pool. Excellent range of Indian cuisine but limited range of Western food.

Great getaway & not too far from home. No complaints about the property & their service at all ! But it will be great if both The Resort & Retreat alongwith the locals take up the initiative to clean up the beach just like the Juhu Beach has been done.

The hallway was smelling and musty. The pool area was not cleaned the next morning. Wi-Fi access was limited only to the inside of the building, not at the pool snd other areas. The person who came to deliver food for room service, his clothes were smelly. Lights and air conditioning in common areas were turned off during day time, even if it was dark due to rains and hot.

Pleasantly surprised

I did not expect but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of room, breakfast area, and the check in/ out process.I will certainly stay there again.Only problem was distance from work place but that was known.Maybe the staff could be less serious and smile more.

Poor service, unfreindly staff, poor food quality. Everytime i entered their facility i had to prove that i am guest at the hotel.

Staff was friendly and helpful but I had difficulty communicating with them. Very comfortable and great bathrooms and beds.

Beauty is skin deep.

The facility is fabulous. The room is large and comfortable, a real fine quality accommodation. The lobby,, restaurant, the grounds all fabulous. Food in the eatery is no better than average although ombiance is very inviting. The numerous staff certainly courteous and eager to help, yet English communication is lacking. The pool is visited by great numbers of birds washing and deficating in pool water. The filthy beach has warnings not to swim in the ocean, the filthy water is a danger. Staying here is a very mixed bag yet I would probably stay again.

Not bad

The resort is around an hour ride north of the airport which is only $5.50 Uber ride so no complaints there. However, near the airport or down south is where you want to be. The security at this hotel is very good. Getting in requires a security check. The hotel itself is also very clean and my room was very comfortable. However, the beach is dirty and it is recommended not to swim in the water. Also, people do swim in the pool but I chose not to after watching crows wash themselves in the morning in the pool water. Not a bad hotel. Just not what I expected.

Excellent place with average service

The property and location is great and a wonderful getaway from Mumbai. However the service is sub par. Though the staff was polite, they were inefficient in getting things done quickly. They should reconsider their check-in time if they are going to have all their staff at lunch at the same time with just one person at the counter.

Nice getaway

Enjoyed our stay. Great buffet breakfast. Beach just outside the hotel is crowded and not so clean.

One of our favorite places to go over the weekend.. the rooms are clean and the food is great.. however the best part about the place is the location and sea facing views

Excellent Property but pathetic Management

View overlooking sea was fantastic. The rooms though not big enough, but seems done up recently is good-excellent. The room service was ok. N it all ends there. The worst was its restaurant n its service: During lunch time I requested a plain (butterless) naan. Told at least 5 attendants n finally F&B Manager. Finally got a naan without butter after 25 mins of waiting. The food's very ordinary. The choice of menu for buffet should've been swapped between lunch n dinner (bad planning). The worst exp. was during dinner at 10PM, There's rush so waited for 15 min, by when there were lot of tables free but uncleaned. We were told to wait near a table, and it took them 15 min (after pleading with 3-4 of them) to clear 1 table. Finally, we get our food on table, but no cutlery to be found and no one around to help. We searched ourselves through their drawers and found only spoons n no fork. We called for their F&B manager who had vanished during such peak hours. A sales guy came over fm reception to help. I challenged him to find one piece of fork in next 1 min in exchange of a treat. He and his team came back 5 min later apologizing. And after 10 min came the cutlery we wanted. We arrived at the restaurant at 10 PM and finally started eating at 10:45. Also they're doing some renovation, so the entire afternoon couldn't get the wanted nap with all drilling sound. N misery cont. till morning with doorbell ringing at 6AM, accidentally by housekeeper while cleaniing outside wall.

The first room I was given was not very good as the ac was not functional n people kept coming in to sort it out . Tejas from reception was excellent n moved our room but that kind of put a damper on our whole stay

Great value

The room is spacious and had a nice balcony with ocean view. We stayed 6 nights and enjoyed every minute. The breakfast buffet is fabulous and a la carte dinner (generous portions) was excellent.

Moment to cherish ;)

I love this place...its been my 8th or 9th visit...have quite lot memories attached. Friends....family...besties i had moment to cherish at your hotel Love the buffet at your resturant The connective from hotel to beach is really good if u r with ur family and kids.. So i would certainly recommend this hotel to all my frnds and family.

Madh island was a quiet getaway. I was disappointed in the beach. It was not private and definitely not clean. Loved the layout of the resort. Needs upkeep and cleaning. Staff was helpful. Lovely pool facilities.

Good family hotel, clean swimming pool. Helpful staff and room service. It is away from city and airport but great place for weekend activity and conferences.

Mouldy rooms, slow service and rubbish buffet breakfast. These were the highlights of our stay. Will NEVER go there again, even if it were free.

Pathetic service for the money paid. Never expected to wait for one hour for the lunch to be served. All this without any remorse on staffs face. Quality of buffet both dinner and b fast was bad and tasteless. Overall dissatisfied

The breakfast selection was extremely poor and definitely not living up to the standard however my itinerary said that Breakfast is inclusive whereas the hotel staff Ryan Lobo argued that it was not inclusive however I called up Expedia and they confirmed that it is inclusive and they asked me to pay for the breakfast and then they will refund. I paid for the breakfast and I am awaiting the refund which is been promised to me. I have no idea whom to trust and whether I will get a refund or not.

The hotel did not co-operate regarding complimentary breakfast even after showing them email from Hotels.com. The hotel would rate poor on courteousness.

It's very good for relaxing and having a quiet time but it's far from the city

Great hotel although a little out of the way

Very comfortable stay right next to the ocean - good room and great breakfast. Friendly staff and ample facilities - unfortunately Malad is a little far from downtown Mumbai but easily accessible by public transport.

Nice place, good views, very pleasant staff

We booked via Expedia and the check-in experience was pleasant and seamless. Our preferences had been recorded by the hotel -- a sea view, an upper floor. And this turned out to be a really good thing, because there was a wedding being held on the property and the music at night might have been disturbingly loud at a lower level. (We were on the fourth floor). The room is a bit small but very comfortable. The wifi is fast and free. The bathroom spotless and well-appointed (no bathtub; this is Mumbai, after all). The view is lovely. The staff warm and welcoming. The property is quite large and sprawling, nicely maintained, and right on the beach. The food is expensive, though, and not outstanding. That said, we had a lovely weekend and certainly plan to return.

Amazing stay at "The Resort"

We spent 4 days recently at beautiful "The Resort". We really enjoyed the stay. Food was of very good quality although bit on the expensive side. Famous Aksa beach was just 200 meters away as it is a beach resort, that made the stay all the more enjoyable. Only word of caution is that if you want to roam around main areas of Mumbai like Colaba, Gateway of India, Marine drive etc, this place is quite far from these tourist attractions. Otherwise 10/10 for our experience at "The Resort". Thanks for the hospitality :)

Disappointed

Nothing good I can remember besides the beach access... bathroom/tub was not clean. no hand faucets... called room service twice n they never showed up. Though the sheets were clean the bed was not comfy.

Excellent -Not Anymore

My family and I stay hear often. at least once a year since 2007. We love this place and the people here. Little expensive restaurants and bar but I was always offered discounts. However this time around our experience was not that great. People were not motivated. right from watchmen to bellboys and waiters. when we checked in we had to make multiple requests for help with our luggage. At reception we were asked to pay tax over and above the all inclusive Hotels.com vouchers price and we had to discuss our way out of that over 10 minutes. At breakfast people just won't clear plates. Cant blame the waiters as there were far too many guests and very few hands at work. At lunch Okra was half cooked and overly salty. At dinner creme of asparagus was without any asparagus (creme of mushroom had a lot of mushrooms) And by far the worst thing was the bed. After renovation the beds on the 3rd and 4th floors are soooo soft, it will break your back by the morning. There was virtually NO support at all. It left us sleepless and very tired in the mornings. These were our worst 2 nights at the Resort. Hope this won't last long and management will take corrective action. I don't think I can stay there if they are going to put me on the 3rd or 4th floor where beds are very uncomfortable.

The hotel is really nice beauty full swimming pool , rooms are great but the staff working there just spoilt the experience . Not friendly at all and quite bossy . Won't go back for sure . When you work in this industry you Have to be flexible Not their case .

It was a Good Experience. After some Confusion Between booking sites and hotel management, Lobby Manager Given a very good room. The view was very beautiful. Enjoyed stay with family. Planning to go again

Nice weekend getaway beach resort

The area is right within Mumbai, yet feels like you are out of the city, away from the daily traffic and makes you feel you are on a holiday. The resort is right on Aksa beach (has a private exit on to the beach as well), so 5 star location. There are some other hotels also nearby but nothing comes close to this. We did tour the area in our car and location of none of the other resorts was great. The Aksa beach becomes quite lively in the evening with several vendors selling chaat etc. Coming to the resort, it is a beautiful property with ample open space, a lovely swimming pool by the beach, lots of greenery, several places to sit and relax in the open in the garden, near the pool etc. The restaurant is also well located and you can enjoy uninterrupted views of the sea while eating. Food is second to none with lots of variety (i am a vegetarian) and taste is also good. If you plan to stay here, take the full board meal plan of the room (all 3 meals included) as opposed to just the breakfast package. You'd save a lot on the cost of food since there is nothing else nearby to go for dinner / lunch. Rooms are also nice though the furniture and fittings are slightly old but not bad (nothing worth complaining). They charge extra for sea facing rooms but the other side rooms are equally good (face a large green patch). We went on my wife's birthday and she also loved it. Overall, a must stay for all Mumbaikars atleast once. I would definitely want to back.

Rooms were good but hotel premise dirty.no health club , sauna, spa so why 5star tariff. If facilities under renovation then price should be reduced.service in lawns very very poor.food was good.

Very nice resort. The only downside was the quality of the food. They have no concept of continental food. The food was awful and highly priced. The plain omelet was over cooked and like rubber. The toast was two small and stale slices.

Hotel was good ,beautiful place and well maintained. What I had to ignore is lack of co ordination for reservation between Hotels.com and The RESORT

Great Location But Poor Service

The restaurant and front office staff services are terrible- not worth a 4* rating. They tell you one thing and then something else and get more money out of you. There is too much staff doing not much in the restaurant. Chef comes and Captain comes and talks to you since there is not much traffic. There are lots of operational inefficiencies. Wi fir was not working on many occasions.

Has potential to be great, but is not.

Disappointing. Pool closed between 2 - 4pm for maintenance although nobody was maintaining anything. Food was horrible and we did not get things that were requested.

Beach View!

Staff service is excellent. Management has put in good thought process balancing safety of the guests to providing comforts. Good ambience, beach view is the best! Food is ok.

Resort is nice, we got a renovated room for stay

Good resort,renovated room for stay, staff not courteous,Securiy guys more courteous than hotel staff, no welcome drink offered, no water offered at checkin. Lunch buffet space very congested, they were not able to manage crowd. We asked for an air pump to fill up the baby float for swimmig and same wasnt available,Forget courtsey, hotel staff wasnt even displaying chivalry, women with children carrying bags, opening doors by themselves etc....Food quality however was good.

Complete disappointment

I booked this hotel despite my own 2 bedroom luxury house is only 4 km away from this hotel. I flew from manchester day before and there was a function at my house so I wanted the good sleep in the afternoon. This was the only reason I booked this hotel. When I checked in the hotel I was shocked to see that there was a major renovation was taking place and I could not sleep at all because right above my floor they were drilling and hammering so loudly that sleep was far away I could not even stay awake and it gave me a headache. When I complained to the manager (Mr.Malvin) he said to me that this was stated in the hotel ad in expedia. When I showed him the invoice of the booking and then current website of the hotel and ad in the expedia and pointed out to him that there is no mentioned of the renovation anywhere, all he offered me a 25% discount on food. I had to go to their restaurant since the nearest restaurant was around 2 km away that is because the hotel is in a very remote area.when I looked at the menu I was shocked to see the prices of the food. They were highly over priced because you have no choice but to go to their restaurent. The prices of the food are unimaginable compare to other restaurents and the food portion was so small it was hardly enough for one person. It was horrible experience. I will never use this hotel again.

Fab! May be you should consider doing Sunday brunches it will really do well especially with th view n pool also don't keep it too exp then ppl don't tend to come as there are many good brunches happening at other locations

Worst Experience Ever!!!!

Don't go by the information and look out for more information from people went to this hotel or know about this hotel. Location wise might have been the worst experience ever as I went by the description. Be prepared to pay at least 100Rs by auto for going to any close amenities. Wouldn't be enough to write in this small space about the service. You can consider to be left in to another world as no staff had any idea about anything. Just say try to speak to this and them. No one would answer your demands or questions. They were free all the time but never wanted to make any efforts. In case you've booked by any online sites, you have committed a biggest crime in the world as they will just leave you and say ask them for any changes in your itineraries. Network of the phone was also the worst issue as you will spend your most quality time searching for networks in different corners of this hotel. You can't contact your booking partner from this place to make changes due to network issue but even if you can even they are not there to help as it is your fault that you booked from their site. Also, Please do not ever stay at this hotel particularly if your travelling to Mumbai for the first time and your plan is to visit different places. At that far outside main Mumbai city that you will be saving much from booking online but then spending thousands to travel which is not even easy to get from here.!!! Never go to this Hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quiet Location

Service was very good. Being refurbished at present once complete rooms will be very comfy ( viewed one completed room) Staff are very friendly. Location is good away from the busy mumbai traffic.

Great location, Poor service.

The Resort is ideally located and has easy acess to the beach. Security arrangements are good. Arrived the place at 12.30 pm, but had to wait for more than 45 mins for a room, inspite the check-in time being 12.00pm. Food quality is very poor. Had ordered the chicken biryani- worst biryani ever. Had ordered a garden salad- simply pathetic. Was compelled to eat from outside. There was continous hammering/reparing work going on in the adjacent room, inspite of calling up the reception twice it was stopped for only half an hour and continued till after 5.00pm. The swimming pool is very poorly maintained. The gutter adjacent to the pool stank a lot and was full of flies. Lucky did not catch an infection. Overall the stay was just about mediocre at best. For the charges they levy they desperately need to improve.

Worst location and Worst travelling facitities

Didn't find the location info matching with the actual destination than what is mentioned on the Hotels.com website. Also, number mentioned for the hotel has been disconnected ages ago. Location of the hotel is as far as you need to pay at least Rs.100 to get anywhere close to Mumbai ( For E.g. Inorbit Mall) locations even for rickshaw. Only security staff were really friendly and helpful. Forget about the reception, they are not even sure of anything. Not taking responsibilities for any matters. If you've booked with Expedia or Hotels.com and having any troubles with your stay or looking for help with cancellations, just forget it. Don't expect even 1% help from anyone at Hotel. Will give you thousands excuses but will not do anything. They'll keep asking you to contact Hotels.com and Hotels.com people will ask to speak to the resort staff. None of the staff took initiative even in that hard time for us. Zero rating for everything for this resort and also for most reservation, admin and all staff except the security staff. Don't even get enough networks to call family. I literally went out in the park 10 times to look for network. On the positive side, only and only if you're looking for complete getaway from normal busy life and not expecting much to go out for, then you can choose this resort but there are many others around and try to choose them and keep this one as a last choice. WORST HOTEL SELECTION I'VE MADE IN MY LIFETIME.

Pleasant Hotel on beach

Nice hotel. However needs renovation of lift,floor passages and public space outside the rooms. Gym is well equipped but carpets are dirty. Rooms themselves and public dining area are fine. Same goes for outside pool and garden. ashwin shah

Beautiful location

Visited this place in April 2014. Very comfortable stay. Beautiful location. Good food (although on higer side). Loved the hammocks. Avoid going on weekends as the lawns are booked for some or the other parties with loud music.

Awesome place for a weekend getaway

Excellent property. It is located right on the beach and the view from the room is splendid. Luxurious rooms and hospitable staff. Go for the sea view rooms.

Nice, but far from everything

Once again, Expedia's website states this hotel is close to Goreguan, (an area we wanted to visit for an Exhibtion). But this hotel was very, very far from this area, and in a remote, secluded area that was a little scary. Taxi driver had hard time to locate as it was so remote. The hotel itself was nice, food was decent, but hotel said there was a taxi strike and we had to use hotel car or tuk-tuk. There was no strike, the hotel just wanted us to use their very expensive car hire.

Horrible Food

Location, View, Comfort etc is amazing.. Unfortunately food is so horrible..especially fish items. You get good food in Darya Kinara right opposite to The resort. After pathetic lunch we had to find other places in n around for dinner.

Lovely place, views, staff. Since i arrived at the hotel everyone was very helpfull. The room nd the views were great. Definately worth the price. Always go for the deluxe room as its sea view... The spa also was amazing.. would definately go back again.

awful experience

stayed for 1n/2day ..the property is good and well maintained however our experience was awful as the room ac was not working and despite bringing it to hotel attention there was no action taken and services were with proper response. first time visit but bad experience for services and room ac, which was suffocating at night. did my booking through hotel.com and called their customer care for their help/support but no response from them rather the customer care agent kept us on hold for more than 20 mins and I had to literally disconnect and no revert. awful services from hotel .com

Away from everything

Thought it would be great to stay near the sea, shame it was full of rubbish everywhere. The hotel is an older style, it has a sign explaining work is being done, heard it but didn't see it, staff are very friendly and kind , it's a Long- distance to sight seeing in Mumbai , we really liked our room very modern, but no nice views.

Hotel worth to spend a night with your loved ones.

It was a very wonderful stay. I liked the ambience comfortness and overall a good package...The hotel staff is also very supportive.. and helpful...I would be visiting it again very soon...
