All exclusive is not all inclusive here,we had to talk to the manager a few times, wasn't ever pleasant, Even over small things

The hotel is close to 5th ave., but far enough away that it is still quiet. The property sits right on the beach and has a decent sized pool. The rooms are clean but not many amenities. Bathrooms appear to have been remodeled recently.

I didn’t not find that the customer service was very good. I felt that they nickel and dimed you for everything.

The perfect size. Me and my boyfriend enjoyed the quiet when we wanted but there was also inclusive activities with staff and other people staying if we wanted to do more.

Our room wasn’t ready so they shuttled us to their other place which was was 20 minutes away and they wouldn’t let us check in yet then Sunday they took us back to the other place which wasn’t even ready again so we couldn’t go to our room until 3:30 i wouldn’t recommend anyone to go there Reef coco beach

Had a phenomenal experience visiting the Reef Coco beach. All facilities were clean and well maintained. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and the animation team did a fantastic. Boris alone is worth coming back for!!

Food is low quality along with the drinks, no music in the pool area, snack bar is not very snacky, they will clean the pool with you in it,

We had a lovely time at the reef, they have clean water fluntains all over the resort and the food never disappointed. Our room was a little small and the beds are not comfortable, there was also hardly any evening entertainment for the week thatvwe were there, so that was kind of boring. But we still had an nice time enjoying the pool and the beach

This was our 15th year staying at this resort. It is small & has a beautiful nearly private beach. The service is amazing.

All the staff were very attentive, the food was excellent. It was a beautiful week.

The Reef Coco Beach is a hidden secret and a gem in the Playa Del Carmen area. Everything was well beyond expectations. The food , the buffet , the restaurants , the drinks the service the attention to detail, the activities and entertainment , the proximity of the resort located on a spectacular beach , and a short walk to 5th in Playa. The rooms were perfect with spectacular views , the air conditioning was quiet and worked well. Everything at this resort is perfect ! We will return and look forward to re- visiting and staying best resort in the Playa Del Carmen area.

Very clean resort. Staff weren’t always super friendly. My sister and I took our sons for a quick weekend. We like to wake up and drink coffee and it was very hard to find a place to do that. The all you can eat breakfast buffet would have carafes at the front, but they weren’t always there. So if we sat down at the breakfast buffet, we were waiting 10 to 15 minutes for the wait staff to bring us coffee. Would be nice if they had big urns in the lobby or somewhere more convenient. Also, they told us they had pickle ball courts, but the door was always locked, and there were no pickle-ball lines on the tennis courts. The basketball court had no hoops, lines and they had no basketballs available.These are really the only negatives. The spa treatments my sister and I got were amazing and very reasonably priced. I would definitely go back there again. they tried to sucker you into sitting through a 90 minute high-pressure timeshare presentation, but we refused and didn’t bother us to say no.

Most of the staff was super friendly! Wait staff Ramon, Alex, Marco, Fernando, Wilbert, Daniel, and I am sure I am forgetting some others who made the stay so welcoming and gave great service to our crew! I am not sure where some of the review compaints came from about the place. We had a great experience! The pool and the beach were both awesome. The only complaints we have were the beds were not the best and the lack of getting our fridge restocked. Nothing that would keep us away but they could improve on those things. The restaurants and snack shack were good! They had an amazing superbowl party with lots of snacks and beverages. Met lots of nice people from all over. We hated to leave to go back to the ice cold but are grateful for the overall wonderful trip we had.

Our room was damp and smelled really bad. Beds are hard as rocks as are the pillows. Location is good and pool and beach access is great - the room accomodations were just not welcoming or comfortable.

Loved that it was on the beach, goid restaurant, and not over crowded. The staff was incredible!

We found our beds were very firm...this is usual for resorts though. Everything was very clean. We have bad backs, so that was the biggest issue for us, not the fault of the resort at all, just if you are looking for a plush bed, this isn't it;) The resort and facility are a smaller size, which we preferred. There was a SNAFU with our reservation so day 1 we had to go to the sister (higher end) resort Reef 28 for the night. Upgraded to the presidential suite. All very nice, but we didn't really enjoy as your first night after a long day of travel from Canada, you just want to relax and get settled. We were able to go to Reef Coco the next day and they upgraded our stay to the premium package for the rest of your vacation, so that was appreciated. Great service, really good food. Nice resort. Would recommend to anyone looking for a smaller venue close to 5th avenue and shopping.

This was our third time to coco. We love the smaller venue. Love the people around the pool, bar, and food venues. Fantastic people. We did have some insect issues and there was a smell in the room. But the staff was great and they mitigated the issues. Management could have been a bit more empathetic.

Resort was very small. Great for a couple but if you don’t upgrade your all inclusive, the staff treats you different. No service poolside or beach. No service at pool bar. No eating on beach or poolside. No smoking on beach. There are many restrictions at this resort. Beautiful location though.

My overall experience with the resort was not the best. We ended up canceling our stay after three days because it was not very pleasant. 1. Upon arrival, the service seems very professional and friendly, but then you realize their main goal is to sell you a membership program with the hotel. The resort is full of salespeople who invite you to have breakfast and promise you gifts just to get you to listen to them. 2. The rooms have an unpleasant smell, and they don’t provide water. You have to go and request cold water yourself because room service doesn’t include it. 3. The beach is small and not safe. They promote it as private beach, but it’s not. One afternoon, I was sitting with my partner, and someone from outside, who seemed to be drunk, came over to insult us. It was a very uncomfortable situation. 4. Regarding the food, they don’t serve espresso coffee outside of buffet hours, and at the bar, you have to pay for it, even though it’s supposed to be an all-inclusive package. They didn’t have olive oil at the hotel, and the food, in general, wasn’t great. 5. They sell you a romantic dinner with supposedly premium meat at an exaggerated price, but the meat was low quality. Also, the hotel is quite boring, and the entertainment team is not great either.

I like everything

A beautiful clean all inclusive. Staff friendly and always helpful. So lovely to be on the beach. Food was plentiful. Enjoyed dinner in the Italian restaurant. Would definately return. Only wish is that they raked seaweed like some other resorts!

A nice getaway we experienced in this resort. Only issue was not so much food options for vegetarians and smell in the washroom (sewers) when taking shower. Other than that the staff was really very nice

I liked the staff and the property is very pretty. Not a lot for shopping on the resort and not a lot of restaurants. The beds however were extremely hard and uncomfortable and the rooms definitely seem older.

Ok so let me start by saying that the staff was so nice and quick. Did not like our room due to odor&so many flies. Food option was good but limited comparing to other resort. Beside the Oder and the bugs I loved it because of the workers and close to the beach. The resort needs updates. Ps make sure you take a water bottle because no water in room and you have to use a fountain to fill cups which we were not aware off. The buffet as I said no much options, the three restaurants that you have to pay and make reservations were good even though we did not try the Mexican.

NEVER AGAIN! The rooms are dated and aren’t very clean. The beds were hard I thought I was sleeping on concrete. They don’t offer bottled water in the rooms. Dining options weren’t good!

We had a good stay at the Reef with our family. Wish there were a few more food options. Especially as a vegetarian. Would be nice if they offered veggie things at the poolside restaurant. Buffet was good and service at the restaurant was always great. I really wish the entertainment started earlier. We have young kids and unfortunately had to miss out on the entertainment every night because it started at 9 or 9:30pm. Also the earliest you can eat dinner is 6:30pm which is quite late for kids as well. The resort is super clean and love that it is plastic free. Beach is great and quiet. 5th Ave is a 5 min walk to go shopping which is nice!

As a frequent traveler to all-inclusive Mexico resorts, I'm going to compare. Pros- its right in the heart of Playa Del Carmen. Just a short walk to 5th Ave, which has amazing night life. Entertainment was good and kept kids, teens and adults entertained all day. Cons- The pool was so darn cold it was unbearable to be in. Waitstaff was very kind, but no one (and I mean no one) walked around to serve you- you had to go get your own drinks at one of the two pool bars during day hours. There was limited food options and food was below average (cold in temp most times). Would I go back, no. Would I recommend it, no. Was it the worst, no.

All the servers worked very hard to make sure the stay was a pleasant one. Five stars to them

Walking distance to 5th avenue shopping

It's not the biggest resort but that's a plus because there are no crowded areas or waiting on anything. There are not enough activities especially for teenagers and young children but It's a great place for relaxation. The food was the best and the staff very friendly

I throughly enjoyed my stay. The staff were beyond friendly and available, the property was very clean and well maintained. The drinks were good, however, the food was not worth the all inclusive. Dining in the buffet wasn’t what I thought it would be. Breakfast was good because of the omelet station. I didn’t understand anything about the lunch station at the buffet and dinner wasn’t any better. The Italian restaurant was my favorite, the lasagna to be specific. I also appreciated the snack bar. 5th avenue made the experience much better. I enjoyed walking around, buying from the local shops and street vendors. The variety of food was good. And the Gelato was to die for. I saw the Taxi service there and inquired about transportation back to Cancun and was told it was only 2400 pesos, which was $140 less that what I was charged at the airport. I suggested calling the resort and asking about the local taxi service. All in all, this vacation was relaxing, enjoyable, needed and well deserved. I would definitely stay there again in the future.

I can’t say enough good things about our stay at this incredible all-inclusive resort in Playa del Carmen. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and first-class service that set the tone for an unforgettable Housekeeping kept everything spotless and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. The dining options were great, with a wide variety of offering everything from authentic Mexican cuisine to international flavors. What truly sets this resort apart, however, is the staff. Every single team member we encountered was friendly, professional, and genuinely invested in making our stay perfect. Shout out to Gerardo. Best bartender.

“The hotel facilities were clean and nice, but our experience with the front desk staff was disappointing. When we arrived at 11pm, we were told there were no rooms available despite booking through Expedia. The front desk agent seemed indifferent to the situation and did not provide the level of care we expected. While he offered a room at another hotel, the lack of effort to resolve the issue on-site left a negative impression.”

Property was nice and the workers were great. The bartenders remember who you are so every time they see you walking towards the bar they have your go-to drink ready which is a great feeling. I went in mid December so they were very festive and it looked beautiful. Only 2 downfalls I experienced was the chrome cast not working after the first day of being there and that the buffet and snack bar food was bad and had very limited options. However, I didn’t have that much expectations for that aspect especially at an all inclusive. The restaurants there were great especially the Italian one. Overall the resort itself definitely a great place to go relax and actually vacation. One last thing the resort is in a great spot on the beach of playa del Carmen 5min walk from 5th Ave which is a long no vehicle street where you walk and experience different restaurants, lounges, shopping centers and convenience stores.

We really enjoyed our stay at the resort. Had a few small issues (leak in the ceiling by the AC unit which took 2 times to fix), plugged shower drain. They were handled quickly so it was no big deal. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. the resort clean and wonderful atmosphere. If i travel to Mexico again, I would like to stay at The Reef!

Wonderful stay at the Reef Coco Beach. All staff members we encountered were friendly and always willing to help. The resort is small and the afternoon pool games are not on the same level you'd get at the larger resorts, but the activities team always worked hard to keep people interested. However, we wanted a smaller resort, so it was just what we were looking for. Walkable to 5th ave and completely safe to do so. The food was surprisingly good for an all inclusive. We had no issues getting dinner reservations at either of the a la carts, but we also frequented 5th ave for late afternoon drinks and dinner. The only downfall was we received phone calls everyday from the concierge, we are assuming to try and sell us on the timeshare, we never answered. I mentioned it to the front desk, and the worker was well aware but seemed uncomfortable with wanting to say anything to them. Rather than making her uncomfortable we just left it. Overall we had a great time and would go back.

We have been coming for years. Our favorite place and staff. Only thing is the evening entertainment has declined over the years, but then again so have we so dont stay up late anyways.

Great hotel, I would stay here again. Very clean, nice pool with jacuzzi. Downsides, people are partying all night long with loud music so keep that in mind. They will try to sell you a timeshare. I would stay here again.

The food in the buffet is absolutely horrible. It almost seems like its leftovers from previous days. Wont being going back to this resort, plus with an all inclusive youd think that there would be food available all the time, nope theres not.

The food was horrible. The staff wasn’t kind They said “all inclusive” but you can’t have whatever you want otherwise they will charge you to the room. We didn’t have service. Everything you have to ask yourself. They limit my areas where I can eat (annoying) I will never recommend this hotel and it wasn’t cheap either

I'd still give it 10/10 even though I had to go to front office twice for a laundry ticket because there wasnt one, it never came, lost power for 45min water just stopped mid shower.and was promised a 65$ credit and 2 free massages that i never got. Was miss lead

We had a great time with family despite the hotel. The best feature of this hotel is the proximity to town. We walked into town to get food every day even tho we had the All Inclusive option. There were very few areas to gather, limited seating in the lobby or anywhere on the property (which might only be an issue in the rain and with a big group, as was our case). The pool food was terrible, as was the service. Much of the staff seemed put out to have to interact with guests. I watched them ignore people waiting at the bar or food counter. We had to tip the bartender frequently and excessively if we wanted to get served. The floors are dangerously slippery and we saw many people fall.

The resort was beautiful, clean and had everything we really needed. The staff was friendly, professional and very helpful! Especially Demetri and Pedro!

Manager Irving is way to far for being helpful and lock of customer service skill. He only interesdin money for the comosny he represent. He left us stranded in tbe other chain hotel company in a rainy day with no place to put ourselves dry . He stood wet for more than 3 hours until their transportstion was going to available instead to paid for us a taxi cab . We called them adming to get us back to our hotel room and we got only an um rella borrowed unti we got their van transportation. He only said that it was not their responsability to provide but their were very pushy sinceto offer us togo to that property since tgey want us tu have a presentation to buy tbir package like timeshare. But we were not interested and we were no lo ger treated the same. That was very lo k of any ethical and respect as gursts that paid for 5 nights . How desaapointed and. We not planni g going back.

The room had a stinky sewer smell in the bathroom. Every time you use the shower or the sink the odor was awful. We reported this to front desk and they said it was going to be away quickly overnight and it didn't. They didn't even offered a room change saying that the smell was everywhere. My experience was very bad due to this and I'm not planning getting back there.

Enjoyed our stay. The property was clean and welcoming. We had an issue with the shower drain and it was fixed immediately. The staff greeted us by name when seeing us, the property was not overly noisy and was relaxing. 3 reservation required restaurants (Mexican, Italian, and Japanese) on site and was able to visit all 3. Buffet had plenty of options. Walk to a 7-11 or main street for shopping was very close and walkable.

They had no room available for me upon arrival, I was sent to another hotel for the night and the next day , which was my birthday I had to check out and go back to the hotel Coco reef . Upon arrival a room was still not available and I was given a presentation under false pretense, the presentation was basically to try to get me to buy a time share and on my birthday when I just wanted to get settled in my room. My room was on the ground floor and had a lot of ants , there was foot prints on the floor , I asked if someone could come and clean it and it was never taken care of , the worst part was that the shower water was cold and smelled like sewer , when I asked to get a room change because of this I was told that there was a issue being fixed with the plumbing and that it should be fixed soon . I asked another guest if they had the same shower issue and they did . The room was also freezing cold and I was not able to change the temperature. Thank goodness I met a nice guy because he let me stay at his hotel for the remainder of my trip . His hotel was amazing .

The buffet food was terrible. If you don’t make reservations by 5pm for the other 2 restaurants you’re stuck eating the terrible buffet. There is no nightly entertainment no music in the vestibule. The beds are hard the pillows are like rocks. The water in the sink smells like sewer. The pool area is the only nice thing about this resort. The worst all inclusive experience I’ve had. I guess you get what you pay for.

For everyone doing so much research like I was doing stop looking around & book ! I was so nervous considering all of the reviews speaking negatively about the place. First of all this resort is catered to everyone, families with little ones, older adults & young adults alike. If you're looking for a party/club scene this isn't the place for that however there is a bar with a wonderful bartender that stays open until 2am after that you can go get some delicious tacos or burgers from the poolside snack bar which is also open late. My 19 & 15 year old sons were super entertained as was my husband & I. This resort was a wonderful experience! The staff is amazing!! The entertainment team is awesome they engage and encourage you to try day events by the pool & the night events are also fun. One tip would be for them to promote the night events more, so more people attend Our AC & fan worked marvelously. The beds were a bit on the smaller side & pillows were a little hard but a good nights rest is had. Shower pressure was no issue either. We were able to make reservations to all of the restaurants that we wanted too with no problem. Dress code is enforced at the restaurants but they're pretty lenient so long as men have closed toe shoes and a dressy shirt. The samurai Japanese restaurant was our favorite! We also had no problem finding a pool chair or beach chair. The beach is so beautiful and the barrier they have to keep the beach clean of seaweed is great. Will be returning!!!!

Everyone was very welcoming. Our favorite employee was Demetrio he was the most attentive one. Beautiful hotel and family friendly. We will definitely stay at the Reef again.

We were constantly harassed to purchase something, service was terrible, food was terrible, drinks were watered down.Worse trip of my life.Food was so terrible we couldn't eat it.A WASTE OF MY MONEY NEVER AGAIN.

Loved staying here

I like the location but I didn’t like that is no air conditioner in the whole building

Es muy inconveniente si vas a disfrutar de la playa, ya que está la marina muchos botes al frente de la pnaya, no puedes disfrutar de la hermosa playa del área. Para separarla de los botes, tiene una maya y no es nada agradable, la comida del restaurante Japonés era de una calidad muy baja, especialmente la carne, es ridículo pagar extra por eso, era preferible la cena en el restaurante regular.

They did not give us the room requested, the supply for the fridge was only done upon request, no bath robes as promised, 3 guest but only two chairs, 2 glasses, house keeping 3 times in seven days, the charge for environmental fee $5 instead $4. The room doesn't look exactly like in the pictures. The beds was not as requested, WIFI was in and out all day.

Not enough food or drink options no entertainment pool was closed we had to change hotels

I purchaed the food to be included but I was different when I was there was not included but the only thing mg beside that everything was ok

I stayed with my friend and her kids. The food and drinks wasnt all that. Staff were ok. Pool wasnt that clean. The towel in the bathroom was dirty. No coffee pot in room amd its 4$ charge for a tiny cup of coffee from the bar. I wouldnt stay again.

Food was cold

I absolutely loved this resort! The staff and cleanliness are amazing, as is the location being so close to town. Lots of varied food options in the buffet and we also loved the italian and mexican restaurants. Pool activities were super fun. Thanks to all for making our vacation so much fun!
