Nice, at the right price. Location can’t be faulted in the middle of magical Fitzrovia and on the edge of Soho. Lovely staff. Nice, small lounge area and bar at reception. The rooms are spotlessly clean, but dated, like a reminder of hotels from the 70s and 80s. My price was €160 for my night, which was acceptable - but if the price had been much higher I would have been less content. Would happily stay again at the right price point.
As our first time in London, we were lucky to have found this place! A great location near SOHO, so many food options in walking distance. Lots of cute shops and coffee shops just out the front door. The staff was absolutely amazing and so accommodating. The room was very clean and had cute antique touches. Will be back the next time we visit.
A hidden gem
This hotel is a hidden gem, what a great find! We will certainly stay here again when next in London. Perfect location and easy walking distance to Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road and Soho.
Best Boutique Hotel in London
The hotel, room, and bathroom were all very modern with the latest fixtures and accoutrements. I loved the location of the hotel which was right in Central London. The rate was exceptionally good given the location and amenties!
Friendly unpretentious hotel excellent location. Heating/ac hard to manage. Bit noisy in early morning - it’s a restaurant district. But overall good.
Lovely hotel
Perfect location. Large room. Very quiet. Lovely staff who gave us an up grade when we arrived. Definitely recommend
One night Stay
Was a bit disappointed that there was scaffolding up at all the windows in our room as had paid extra for a suite. It is great that the bar stays open until 3 a.m. but unfortunately they had no room service for snacks available. Room was very clean & good location.
I booked to stay here as I was attending an awards ceremony close by. The team were friendly, made me feel safe and the bed was super comfy. It was not a designer, high end brand but the place was clean, walkable from euston, I had everything I needed and without doubt I will stay again. Thank you so much.
Lovely little spot
Location is amazing. 6 min walk to soho..quick walk to tube. Lovely area for walking,.earing, having a pint etc. Staff super friendly. Rennovatuins goingnon but seems.as if it is almost done so just fyi on that but nothing we minded. Would stay again
Great boutique hotel with fantastic staff. Convenient location. I walked everywhere from here.
Excellent location, at the interesting ‘end’ of Charlotte street is this traditional yet fashionable hotel with attentive staff Fantastic choice of fashionable eateries and bars nearby
A modest but cozy hotel in the heart of things in London. It probably doesn’t merit a 4 rating, but it’s perfectly fine. My room was a bit scruffy and didn’t resemble the pictures online, but it was clean and comfortable. The staff are just amazing! Friendly and lovely. The breakfast room staff knew everyone by name and could not have been nicer. It’s not a luxury hotel but definitely worth taking a look at.
The hotel is a lot older than it looks in the pictires, just be mindful of that. The rooms are very tired, especially the bathrooms, ours did not even have a window... elevator was tiny, lots of noise coming from the corridors... overall not a great experience.
Loved our stay at the Rathbone! We will be back
The hotel is quite outdated. Room is basic and lacks basics such as hairdryer. Paint chipping in some areas. No actual wardrobe but a door and a rail fixed onto the wall. Overall, less than average stay.
Staff at receprion were polite and friendly. The room was immaculately clean. Breakfast offered a variety of foods and staff were attentive The bed and pillows were comfortable and water and tea/coffee were available in the room. The location is excellent for West End shows and quiet rooms are available. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Great location and very friendly staff ! Overall a very pleasant experience.
Avoid during renovations!
There are building and scaffolding works, and when being checked in, the friendly guy at reception assured me there should be no real issue with noise. I even booked an extra night there and then with him directly which was extortionate. The building works start at 8am which is reasonable if not a little annoying, however- the builders are on-site chatting and moving things around at 7am!!! To start the clanging and banging from 8. Basically i got little sleep, was very irritable and felt deceived with the price they charged for that night i booked directly. Otherwise, the room, need and sheets are very comfortable and the deep bath tub is lovely. Rathbone, like many other girls, talk a big game about reusing towels if hung up, but change them daily regardless.
Absolutely amazing stay. Loved it. Would come back to the same hotel
City life
Currently the hotel has work going on at one side of the building but did not disturb our stay. Friendly staff and very helpful when I needed a last minute gift bag. Hotel is close to all amenities and just a few blocks to Oxford Street.
Friendly staff and in a nice neighborhood
The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially at the front desk. I enjoyed the neighborhood. It was in comfortable walking distance to the British Museum and tube stations. There are some truly great restaurants very nearby. I’d reserved a reasonably priced room with a single twin bed which wasn’t luxurious but suited my needs. It was in the back and quiet. The breakfast wasn’t extensive or lavish, but there were good choices and I was perfectly happy with it. I’d stay here again.
Very small room with space for double bed but not much else. Excellent location and very clean.
Great, comfortable place to stay
Stayed for 9 nights. This was the second time I stayed, and it's an excellent hotel. Well appointed with modern features and very friendly staff, in a character building. Love the location too.
Bill’s review
Efficient friendly courteous staff. Hotel location is great.
The staff were amazing, but I got a room facing a restaurant that gets quite loud at night.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room is very clean.
This hotel is charming. It is very clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful.
No mini fridge or hair dryer, rooms were smaller than expected.
Nice Hotel!
Lovely hotel in Fitzrovia. Standard room is a little small by American standards and I’d likely spring for a bigger room next time. Perfectly adequate for solo travellers though. But no marks subtracted as the room was very nice and very clean. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. They nicely stored our luggage before we checked in. Great location for getting around lots of places in Central London too!
Excellent Service.
Great location. Comfortable room.
Great location. Lots of good restaurants and pubs nearby. Very close to the Tottenham Court Road tube station. The neighborhood is beautiful, central but not too touristy. The hotel itself is located off a small side street so it's very quiet at night. Our room was clean and comfortable. The bed is slightly on the softer side, which I liked but my husband found a little uncomfortable. The only weird thing was the water. We felt like we couldn't rinse the soap off our hands or body after washing. Not sure if it had to do with minerality of the water or the soap itself. Other than that, everything was great.
This hotel is a great find, it’s close to everything you could need and the dining options in the area are great. It’s in walking distance to Oxford Street, SoHo, West End theatres etc. the hotel itself has good sized rooms and the decor is lovely. There was an issue with my room which i reported which did not get attended to however the follow up from the management team was great. I really feel that if you had any issues when staying at this hotel they would take it seriously and do whatever they could to rectify it. If highly recommend this hotel if staying in London.
Friendly helpful staff
Front desk staff (Italian lady and South American man) made a very welcome experience.
Heather
We really enjoyed our 4 day stay at your fantastic hotel, yet again the change of room made all of the difference again thank you
Great staff.
Stylish and comfortable
Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and clean
Lovely, clean hotel. Excellent location for central London.
Nice stay
Well located old style hotel with lots of gild and wood. Very clean room and comfy bed. The air conditionning is noisy (but easy to blank out after a while) and a bit fiddly to use. Strong wifi. Towels were changed despite me leaving them hanging and not on the floor.
Martina was dream! Absolute star employee! the property was gorgeous and clean and quaint. The location was perfect, smack dab in the heart of Soho. The staff was super kind and helpful. The only issue I had, was that we were woken up almost everyday of our stay early by extremely loud construction and drilling inside the building in the rooms right above us. It was a really uncomfortable experience, but overall, the staff and property were lovely. :)
Comfortable rooms in a great location. Easy access to trains, shopping, sites. Great staff and very welcoming. Would definitely stay again!
Christmas break
Excellent. We love the Rathbone. Quite traditional snd fantastic location. Friendly helpful staff. Park anywhere christmas day!
Great find, will come back.
Very nice little hotel in a good part of town.
This is a lovely boutique hotel in a great location. The staff are so friendly and helpful…I really enjoyed it. I have stayed many times and will continue to stay there over the next few months.
Lovely staff, great location and very clean. We will be back!
The staff at this hotel are fantastic. Made it feel like a home from home. Comfortable room's, excellent breakfast, great location.
Great location
Lovely hotel, great location, friendly check in service. Would stay again.
We loved our stay at The Rathbone Hotel! The location is perfect - it's right in the heart of Fitzrovia and close to Soho, Regents Park, and tons of great restaurants. Martina and the rest of the team were so kind and welcoming. They were very sweet with our baby as well. We can't wait to come back!
Reception staff were excellent, welcoming and friendly Great location . Room was a little compact but clean and quiet overall a very good place to stay
Convenient, stylish home base in London
This was a lovely, well kept, historical hotel and a very convenient home base for nearby parks, restaurants, pubs! Room service daily was extraordinary as was hotel desk/bar service. My only thoughts are to have that nice lobby fireplace actually lit on a rainy evening, and I don’t know that I would say the hotel has a bar. Rather there is someone there who will mix a drink for you to sit in the lobby to relax after a busy day. Nice touch. We enjoyed our 5 nights there.
Historic boutique hotel
Historic boutique hotel in Fitzrovia. Quiet, clean and very comfortable. Front staff very friendly and helpful.
The hotel was lovely, but for a faulty shower, which was disappointing
Construction nearby was a bit noisy in the morning. Otherwise really good experience.
Great place to stay, so central to Oxford Street, Museums etc. Plenty of good dining options around. Good well-priced continental breakfast with fresh fruits and pastries. Excellent coffee. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms comfortable and well-appointed
Great little hotel
Great location, staff were very friendly and helpful. Little noisy as my room was to the front facing the pub and could hear bottles being put out all night.
Shower needs fixing
Very disappointed that the shower mixer Tap did work! It was either boiling or freezing cold . We like the hotel location and everything else was very good
Staff thought the hotel are very polite and a credit to the place. My room did seem a little noisy as I had to run the air con as it was so stuffy, I couldn’t open the window as the noise was very loud.
There was a slight error with expedias booking system but the hotel went above and beyond to resolve for us and as it was a special occasion went to so much extra effort to make us feel spoilt. Lovely staff especially the duty manager and the lovely lady who helped with my allergies during breakfast. Very accomodating. Made me two slices of gluten free toast and provided oat milk on request. As they they offered this it made whar could have been very limited continental- a really refreshing and lovely breakfast. Few things to consider - hot food isnt availble at the hotel so just ensure you have planned ahead if arriving late. So many lovely places to eat. The club suit was lovely. Although smaller than we had booked originally, cannot fault the cleanliness of the hotel and the nice little touches. Slippers and robe. Coffee machine. All the stuff you need is available on request (except hot food). But as a chain in an area surrounded by great places to eat i didnt see this as a negative. Really nice place to stay would thoroughly recommend and once available, love to stay in one of the suits. Kindest regards to the staff and management team. Lily
This hotel was a great option for us. Our room, a double standard was very roomy as well as was the bathroom. There are plenty of restaurants and pubs close by and shops also close with Goodge Street underground being the closest underground station. The hotel has a lovely lobby with small bar area and the staff were all very lovely. We were very happy with our stay, we would happily stay again and recommend this hotel to family and friends!
A great hotel, nice lobby, a spacious room, we had a standard double with a roomy bathroom too. So many options for food around and a lot of pubs too. I recommend this hotel and glad we stayed here and would stay again!
Friendly staff, the room had everything i needed including a hairdryer that you could plug in near a mirror (minor detail that makes a massive difference)
The staff was great and helpful. The property was in a really central spot for so many activities and delicious places to eat.
Staff friendly, room smelt of mold, air conditioning unit noisy even when switched off, view from window was of industrial air conditioning units. Bathroom dated.
Great property. The building and exterior were gorgeous. Staff was very friendly and rooms were very clean. Only complaint was there were not outlets next to the bed.
We stayed in a standard room & although spotless, it could do with some maintenance such as regrouping in bathroom and new bath as very stained. Also, shower pressure pretty non existent on 4th floor!! Excellent location for what we needed though
Everything about this hotel is great .. the location , the accommodations and especially the staff. Kind and helpful from check in to check out , always happy and friendly . Lovely quaint lobby and bar . In a quiet area of Fitzrovia with tube nearby to get around to main attractions. Great pub right across the street . Soho witching 5 min walk with fun restaurants and bars . Clean comfortable rooms and quiet in the evening . All around just perfect ! Thank you to Francisco , Sharon, Martina , William and all the staff !!! We would highly recommend The Rathbone and absolutely stay there next time in London 😊
Good overall
Excellent staff, grate location.!
This was probably the best hotel stay I have ever had. The hotel has a warm and welcoming feel to it. The rooms are quite spacious and comfortable. But the best part is the staff. They made me feel like I was staying with family. The are quite the asset and this will definitely be my hotel while traveling in London. Big thanks to Harley, Martina, Peter, Piotr, Francisco, Sharon, Jesus and Willem! Hopefully I didn't forget anyone. I cannot say enough nice things about them. :)

Bill's review
We have stayed at this hotel before. It is very nice, centrally located, clean and the staff is friendly and very helpful
Friendly atmosphere
We stayed in a twin room which was pleasant. The room was satisfactory but my bed cover had some most unpleasant marks on that had obviously been tried to wash out but it hadnt worked. It was pretty nasty but the staff were lovely, all of the staff were kind. Wished we could have upgraded to be fair. The lift breaking is no ones fault but when you are staying on the 5th floor its a long trek up!!!!!!!
Nice friendly hotel
I always enjoy starting at the Rathbone, it has an old world charm not present in some newer hotels. Whilst parts of the building shows it’s age, it mostly wears it well, and the staff are some of the nicest most welcoming I have had the pleasure to deal with.
Great location. A brilliant staff.
Great location & friendly staff!
Excellent location, generous sized rooms and comfortable bed. Good bar in foyer & small complimentary breakfast available. Only downside was no bar fridge in the room & we also believe large containers of soap available for general use in the bathroom is better than than a multitude of small individual containers.
Lovely stay
Really nice staff. Nothing was a problem and the hotel was very clean
Overpriced and overrated.
The hotel staff was wonderful, but the hotel rooms were very disappointing. The first night I stayed in the single room with a twin bed. This room was ridiculous for the price. In all my travels, I have never seen a hotel room, bed, or bathroom that tiny! After I complained, the staff were kind enough to move me to a slightly larger room the following day. The decor was dated, as was the linen, although it was clean. For the price, so not worth it. Location was good for shopping but busy and noisy. Not sure why this hotel has such a great rating…
Lovely hotel
I was in London for a business trip and had no idea where to stay. I found this hotel on Hotels.com and was very pleasantly surprised. Location was great, all kinds of restos around it, pretty central, and walking distance to all the main tourist attractions. Service was excellent, everyone was so helpful, friendly and kind.
Property is well managed with a helpful staff and fantastic location. Housekeeping kept things sparkling.
A nice friendly hotel . Very nice rooms and well located Let down by have my no restaurant
I must say rooms and property very clean and staff are excellent and very attentive.only thing let’s property down is sound proofing to rooms and outside via windows, could be improved.
Wonderful
Beautiful hotel in a great location. Staff super friendly and helpful. Clean nice room and comfortable bed. The only downside was the bins at the restaurant opposite being emptied from 5.30 both mornings. It felt like 6 different lorries arrived at different times and were all load. We mentioned it to the receptionist and he did comment that they have complained to the council numerous times. Overall it didn’t spoil our stay and would happily stay here again. You are in a city after all and they have to clean up at some point
Fitzrovia Gem
Superb service in an excellent location
will definitely stay again
Bathroom dated, apart from that was lovely. will definitely go back. Complimentary brekkie is fab :-)
Don’t bother staying here
Over priced for a tiny room.
Amazing staff!
The Rathbone is a nice little hotel. The staff are definitely what make your stay…very welcoming and accommodating..could happily say the nicest hotel staff we have come across! The room was very clean but fairly dated…maybe tatty in some areas. Found it difficult to get the right temperature in the room and everything felt fairly small. The hotel is in a great location however, walking distance from Euston and then to Oxford street, Soho etc. Would definitely use this hotel again if just needing an overnighter in London.
I liked this hotel. The only drawback was that it is located across the street from a pub named after the Duke of York with noisy patrons hanging out on the sidewalk during the evening. Take this into consideration if you need an early night's sleep. Luckily the noise died down before midnight.
Nice hotel in a great location
Nice hotel in a great location.
This is a lovely hotel which seems to be under-going some refurbishments. We paid for a slightly larger room which was clean but there were little things that weren’t quite spot on like the lack of electrical sockets particularly at the bedside. On our second day we went on a long walk and returned to the room late in the afternoon. The room had not been serviced at all and because the towel rail was not working our towels were still wet from the night before. I had to find someone to supply us with new towels. About an hour later while we were relaxing in the room we got a call asking if the cleaners could come in. I’m not sure what happened as no explanation was given. We declined and told them we had already asked for clean towels. Apart from this I couldn’t fault the hotel. The restaurant was closed but they had an excellent continental self service breakfast available. In addition everytime we asked anything they were extremely helpful. We would definitely return.
Lovely Stay
Lovely warm welcome when checking in. Chap on reception (David, I think!) showed an interest in our plans and offered recommendations. Check-in was very efficient as we had completed the online check-in prior to our arrival. Room was as expected with all the usual amenities. Nice touch to have a pack with face mask, hand gel, wipes etc. Our room looked out on to Rathbone Street and unfortunately there was a lot of noise in the night from the restaurant over road, but then again it is a very central location and it was a Friday night.
Nice spot, decent location
Friendly and informative girl at reception, simple but plentiful breakfast
Genuinely friendly !!
I’ve stayed in a lotta lotta hotels … Honestly, EXCELLENT super friendly service … tempted to stay here every time we come to London from now onwards …
Wonderful Hotel Experience
Everyone at the hotel was helpful and kind -- I would absolutely stay there again -- I would recommend it to friends and family
Excellent so far
The guys on reception were so friendly and helpful. We dropped our bags off early and was told we could use our room straight away. There was a lovely complimentary continental breakfast. We stayed in double room. Everything we needed was there, I couldn’t fault it. Would recommend and stay again
Great hotel
Wonderful service and great location. Breakfast was just pastries and coffee but ot was complementary so that was a nice touch and they provided face masks and hand gel in the rooms. Lovely hotel and will stay again.
Great location, great staff
Great location, nice hotel with really great positive helpful staff. I’d read the reviews about all the above & I completely agree. I’d definitely stay here again.
Fantastic gem
The hotel was just lovely. staff were exceptional. Great location. I would stay here again
My London Hotel
I spent a great week at the Rathbone beteeen Christmas and New Years. I’ve spent the Year searching for my London hotel and I have found it. Centrally located, walkable, elegant (just the bar alone is worth booking) - classic English without being stuffy or dusty. The level of service feels personal, always being greeted upon my arrival - the knowledge of the are and the booking. While my room was tidy and comfy, I do hope they will seriously consider some refurbishment. One of the things I love about the hotel is the in room wardrobe which opened up more space for me to store items. Yet some of the furnishings didn’t quite match, the dresser which held the TV had a slightly loose door, and the dressers didn’t pull out smoothly. But despite that I will be back. If you are searching for a hotel with 4 star quality, walkable, and lowkey with an understated elegance this is it! And I will be back!
Lovely stay, easy to find, friendly staff, very clean

Recommend for short break
Rooms spacious and clean. Nice bar area and great location. Rooms were quiet.
