Dangerous shower

Well positioned on the beach front, comfortable room with sea view. Only gripe is that the shower door opened inwards and when you close it, it scoops all the water onto the bathroom floor. Is it legal to have a shower door opening inwards??

Room was good size but was run down and outdated. It also was positioned on what seemed more like an industrial estate and not as described as advertised. Was quite disappointed with it given the price we paid.

Wonderful hotel with peace ..

Been to this hotel many times, even lost count. I like it for so many reasons.. Quiet, peaceful, service is good, food delicious every time.. even my kids like it.. close to shops, restaurants and mall- walkable.

A lovely hotel with friendly staff!

Great location on beachfront, Virgin Active within walking distance. Clean rooms, good value for money, I seem to be using it now on every trip to PE & would highly recommend.

The Paxton is a fine hotel with friendly and cooperative staff. BUT, it is in the middle of nowhere, so it isn't possible to take an easy walk to shops, bars, restaurants... It's good if you are with a party or have a car, otherwise it isn't. I checked out after one night and the staff were most helpful in finding me a more suitable alternative.

A pleasant surprise

This was a last minute booking because Hotels.com messed up my booking in East London. I was pleasantly surprised, the place was beautiful and the staff very accommodating. Will definitely be going back there.

Weekend getaway

I loved every minute if my stay! The staff was very friendly and helpfull and even went the extra mile when I needed something . The room was comfortable, clean and exceeded my expectations.

Everything we needed

Stayed just one night as we needed somewhere close to the airport for an early flight. Clean, comfortable and relatively cheap. Staff were polite, can't be faulted for what we needed.

Ok but definitely not great!

Arrival was met with non-enthusiastic greeting from front desk. No lunch and drinks only available after 3pm. Spent R400 down the road for lunch and drinks which could have been spent at Paxton if their restaurant was open. Noisy club close by resulted in limited sleep on Sunday eve. Payment was not discussed until I posed the question re: pay now, via credit card?

4 Star hotel at 2 star prices

Stayed here as a stop-over from Durban to Cape Town. Very friendly staff, wonderful facilities. My kids enjoyed the pool after a 14 hour drive while I leisured next to the pool with drinks - in style. I highly recommend the hotel as real value for money and will definitely stay there again when passing through Port Elizabeth.

Special gem in a friendly city

Our weekend was excellent. Hotel has a personal touch. Staff well trained, friendly and willing to go an extra mile. My name was on a welcome board when we arrived. Now that is super special

We had a flight early in the next morning. This hotel was exactly, what we were looking for.

Review Hotel Paxton Port Elizabeth

Good hotel well situated from the place where I had to go for business purposes. The hotel is located next to a main road, a food store, a gym center and it is facing the ocean. I personnally had a view on the Ocean and the port. The windows frames isolation is not so good, it was windy and the wind was blowing through, making quite some noise. For the rest all was fine, room was very clean, people very nice, food very good and for a very reasonable price. I would recommend this place and go back for business as well as for leasure.

Poor location of the hotel

Our stay was brief but not very exciting as we battled with the location of the hotel. The hotel is away from the rest of the hotels and since we did not have a car it was hard to get by or even go to the beach.

Lovely hotel

Excellent hotel, arrived early which was no problem. Beautiful view of the harbour , lovely room , breakfast was very good, location was great. Room was spotless. We were sorry we had only booked one night, would definitely stay here again.

Service was good

I had high expectations, but was very disappointed as the airconditioning was poor (noisy and could not sleep with it on) could not open windows as traffic was loud and noisy and also windows did not stay open - we had to fetch a tool to fasten screws to keep window open. No fridge in room to keep our drinks cold. My overall opinion is that it is not worth the money spent. Regards

Manager on duty was excellent. However receptionist should make an effort to smile when guests walk in. Great place.

I could not be convinced that the hotel was a 4 star because normal services I am used get from a 4 star hotel were not there at all.
