Beautiful hotel, close to coco beach
Great, clean place. Bed was comfortable.
close to beach, shopping, nightlife and restaurants. friendly staff, small but comfortable rooms. free breakfast , pool and pool table
Would go back to this hotel.
Clean rooms and property. Great breakfasts included. Room temperature perfect. Close to town. Friendly staff
I rarely give an Excellent in my reviews, but The Palms truly made our stay great. We booked one of their smaller rooms and requested to twin beds. Somehow this did not get communicated to them by Expedia, and they no longer had that category of room available except with one double bed which would have been difficult for my daughter and I to comfortably share. So they offered to upgrade us, if we were willing to switch rooms after the first night which was fine. And while the first night was in a very comfortable family sized suite, the next night they put us in their best room, on the second story with a huge balcony. It was actually the last night of our vacation and my birthday too! So it put a wonderful end to our trip. Of course I should also add how much we enjoyed the live music in the bar on Thursday night, the amazing Mojitos and other drinks, and wonderful breakfast. We will definitely be back!
Loved our stay here. Although the room was TINY and we had to keep our suitcases on our bed, we didn't spend that much time in the room. And really appreciated the sink and fridge in the bedroom. The grounds are beautiful, as is the pool. The breakfast was decent. Easy walk to the ocean and to downtown. For the price and location would highly recomend.
Room little smal no dresser, not to much space for my clothing. Breakfast ok loud music in the evenings.
The room was too small. The shower was extremely small, barely had room to turn in the shower. The breakfast was really good. Parking is on the street in front of the hotel.
Everything was great inside The Palms hotel. It’s when you go outside and walk to the beach to the left side of the hotel and you find a lot of graffiti and trash around the area. There’s a soccer field right in front and people going to the beach park there so that’s probably why. Also there’s some homeless people that hang out there by the skate park making it feel a little sketchy. Wouldn’t recommend going through this street at night due to it being very dark with lack of lighting.
Loved everything but the beds are to hard
Locally owned and well run. Pool was clean and refreshing. Free breakfast.
Pool and patio area was very relaxing. Our 2 bedroom room worked great with family and air conditioning was awesome! Staff was super friendly.
Very nice place
The staff were amazing. We opted to upgrade to a larger room and were happy about that. The pool and entertainment were a huge plus to our vacation.
Great property centrally located great staff
It was a nice place to stay if you want to go to La Playa del Coco Beach. The staff were very friendly and having the store right there was very convenient.
Great facilities and an awesome place to stay.
I have stayed hotel and visited the restaurant for over 15 years. The property is well maintained and very clean. A very good value. The staff is always very helpful. 20 restaurants are within a 10 minute walk. The main street 2 minutes from the hotel. The area is safe and locals are very nice and polite. If you are religious a catholic church is a 50 meters from the property.
All the staff were incredibly friendly, professional and helpful. Due to it's age, it of course it's noise insulation is limited so it can be noisy at times due to it's central location in town.
Very helpful and beautiful
Nice quaint clean hotel. Close to the beach. Town has a lot of litter
property has its charm and location to amenities. Unfortunately, property is outdated, low water pressure and slow drains
Staff was courteous but did not offer any help to get our bags carried up or down the steps (no elevator). The room was nice and clean. The pool was beautiful. There is a convenience store off the lobby which was great for Kate night snacks/drinks. Only one block from ocean and easy walk to lots of restaurants. The breakfast was very good.
Exceeded our expectations dont judge by the photos
Exceeded our expectations by a lot I must say. Used the hotel more for a home base as we had a car which we parked easily and for free at the hotel. Very safe area. We swam a few times which we usually tend not to as we prefer the ocean. Not busy lots of chairs and tables. Lots of tvs everywhere downstairs. Food was good. The breakfast was actually one of the best eggs/bacon toast we have had. Fruit are good. We took the smallest room with balcony and it was small but very comfortable. Nice and cool. The pictures they posted could be improved as the hotel looks much nicer than in the photos. I would stay again and would recommend to anyone as the beach is literally right there.
Reception very friendly and helpful (Luis). Very nice pool and restaurant and bar. Room is spacious. Will stay again next time we’re in Coco.
This was a very nice property for the price! Great location to the beach, restaurants, and shopping. Great that it was a block from the main street, so it was quiet. The pool was very nice and had showers to clean off when coming from the beach. The food at the restaurant was very good and I really liked that they had a water dispenser out all day so you could refill your water bottle. I was traveling alone and felt very safe at this hotel and will definitely stay here again.
The staff were awesome, and took care of our every need (Tropical Storm Sara made things wet…. While we did not get everyone’s name, I would like give kudos to those that I I did: Laura and Luis at reception, Jorge, maintenance, Jenny, housekeeping
Nothing fancy but clean and convenient
While the rooms are basic, my king suite was roomy and had a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Breakfast had decent choices and the coffee urn was out early. To a person the staff was lovely and helpful. There’s a bar, restaurant and grocery on premise. It is very convenient to the beach and restaurants. The only downside for me was the activities that took place every evening right outside my room-bingo, open mic, trivia. The beach itself was not particularly attractive to me. If you are going to Coco Beach this is a reasonably priced choice.
Great stay
It was a good bang-for-the-buck-stay. The rooms were small, felt a bit unkept, and bathroom had a odd odour. However, the restaurant and pool area where guests have free breakfast were all nice and comfortable. The area of Coco is touristy and definitely there is many better places to stay in Costa Rica such as La Fortuna, Monte Verde or Papayago - but if you need to stay in Coco than the Palms is very local to the most populated spots.
Clean place to sleep
We booked a basic small room, which was very small and very basic. After checking in we discovered that the toilet wasn’t working. The gentleman at the front desk said he’d let maintenance know and the issue would be resolved by the time we returned that evening. On our return he said that maintenance was unable to come in, so he had us move to the room next door…which happened to be an executive room! What a difference, and what an excellent example of customer service done right! Location was great, though a bit noisy. Near lots of dining options. Breakfast was good.
La habitación es muy pequeña y tiene un refrigerador que hace mucho ruido
Super small rooms and very dated. Hard to reach outlets from hanging extension cords
Great experience!
Great customer service! Close to the beach.
The hotel is dated but very clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a great restaurant and is only steps away from the beach. The live music in the evenings was a nice touch. Would recommend to friends.
Was a great 3 night stay at this property right on coco beach. Staff went above and beyond, even upgrading my room to an executive suite the last night. Beyond appreciative and plan to visit again.
Live music, pool tables, ice swimming pool, excellent service!
Quite place to sleep
Great stay and service
Hidden Gem in Coco Costa Rica
Right from the beginning, it was a wonderful welcome by the front desk man Luis. Prior to unloading our luggage, he provided a tour of our room. We accepted it right away and before we knew it, he and another staff member brought up six pieces of our luggage to the second floor. While we were perusing the grounds, a server in the outdoor restaurant was carrying a deluxe cheeseburger and a Philly cheese steak sandwich with wedge fries. It looked and smelled amazing. We invited four of our friends to join us for dinner. Burger was outstanding as was the steak sandwich along with the chicken burger and the fish tacos. Freshly made. Reasonably priced. To our pleasant surprise it was trivia night and we Canadians rocked it. Winners! The owner of this boutique hotel sent over 6 creamy coconut shots that were cool and refreshing. The pool is crystal clean and has a shooting soothing fountain in the center. Our room was spacious with a king bed, table for 4, oversized mini refrigerator and expansive balcony overlooking the pool and some of Coco Beach which is literally steps away. Breakfast is included and it was perfect. Crispy bacon, fluffy pancakes, any style eggs, fresh fruit and endless coffee. We enjoyed the ambience under the quiet ceiling fans providing a gentle tropical morning breeze. Fantastic staff. Excellent value. Hidden Gem. 🏆
Great environment in the hotel, staff very nice and walking distance to the beach
Area was very convenient and beach was very nice . Breakfast was great and with several options. In the other hand it was very noisy they had high school kids staying there from Canada and they were very disorderly at night on the hall ways into late hours, have to complain several times. Basically those kids were the ones running the hotel . But overall the staff was nice.
The property is well kept for the area that it is in. I traveled there alone and felt safe the entire time. The walls are very thin so you can hear everything your neighbors do and talk about. It is a 2 minute walk to the beach which is great with tons of restaurants and bars near by. I would stay again if I was in the area.
First night in Costa Rica
Stayed here for first night of trip as it was a short drive from Liberia airport. Hotel was clean and comfortable, really friendly staff and felt safe. Breakfast included and great coffee to boot! Would definitely recommend.
The property is next to the beach but it is a little less than a pretty side of the beach. The double room were great since we traveled with a big group but there was only one bathroom. And one closet for both rooms. The staff was amazing and welcoming and helpful in all thing asked. Lights out for the town is 9pm as well
Decent motel close to the beach with a very nice pool, restaurant and bar! Clean room, ice cold A/C, and hot shower water. All staff were helpful and very nice. The standard rooms are very small, but mine had the balcony which helped a lot and overlooked the pool. 1 block to the beach, and 1 block to the main strip.
VERY small rooms.
Clean, close to everything place with friendly staff
Fabulous staff, good pool and restaurant. This usa great choice if you book excursions or rent a car to get you around otherwise find another location.
The property do not direct access to the beach
Older property, but well maintained and clean. Very nice pool area with bar and restaurant. Very quick walk to beach, shops and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful! Great value. We would definitely stay again if returning to Playas del Coco.
The food was really good and they had a nice pool and nice A/C rooms. Very close to the beach less than 1 minute walk.
The staff at the Palms at Coco Beach were great. They are so helpful and happy all the time. The pool area with dining and activities was a great place to relax. The market was a convenient place to get snacks and cold drinks. We had a wonderful vacation and would return here. Pura Vida.
I thought the staff were all so nice and helpful. The breakfasy was superb. will definately come back
Amazing place and service. Safe area and walkable as well.
We enjoyed our stay at The Palms Coco Beach. Our room was nice and the bed super comfy. We had a fridge, microwave and sink area that we used everyday. Food at the restaurant was excellent and the pool area is beautiful with very nice deck chairs. The restaurant faces the pool. Having a market on site is convenient. All staff were friendly, knowledgeable and happy to help. Beach is one block away as well as main street that has restaurants, a huge market and a variety of shops. Would stay there again.
Great breakfast, property better than expected, and the staff represent the hotel well. Beautiful pool area with sports bar and night activities. Area restaurants fantastic.
This property has a small shop that sells necessary items similar to a Circle K or 7-11 and alcohol. It was very convenient. Outdoor restaurant with a free breakfast included from 0700-1000. The swimming pool was clean with a smaller pool for children. Nightly activities included bingo, karaoke, and pool table. The staff was super hospitable, helpful, and friendly. Coco beach was a very short walk from the hotel as were little shops to purchase souvenirs. There were delicious restaurants nearby on the Main Street such as Indian, Mediterranean, Mexican, and Italian.
Stay 5 nights, switch up 3. Location is great, walk 1 block to beach, 3 blocks to restaurants, with option to eat within hotel if you don't want search in town. Staff is friendly and helpful.
I enjoyed the pool area. Nice, clean and enough seating. Breakfast was good. The room was very small!! Parking was limited and felt it wasn’t secure.
Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were super clean and also decent excursion avaliable. overall I recommend it for a few days. its not luxury but still perfect!
Great stay! Friendly staff, delicious complimentary breakfast, clean rooms, nice pool, central location to beach and town. Would definitely stay here again!
We stayed here after driving through the main strip and seeing the amazing nightlife. This hotel is nothing fancy but it’s perfect. The beds were perfect, air worked great; the shower was the only downside (it was small and a little awkward) but the room and property itself was actually quite comfortable. It was perfect for our needs. If you’re in CR - you should be outside anyways haha. We stayed with our 5 year old daughter and felt safe. We had a balcony room that faces a soccer field and were able to see kids playing. This hotel is one block from the beach and it’s truly a gem. Breakfast was included in our stay and it was delicious! The restaurant/pool area is a great vibe and we loved it. I would absolutely stay here again if we were in this area. We came from SoCal and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. There is also a market attached too that is open until 10 that has snacks and alcohol if needed.
Very enjoyable stay, all breakfast items we tried were good, the pool was nice and relaxing, we played pool at night and the room was very pleasant temperature with the air conditioning. Friendly staff, would recommend staying here.
Enjoyed our stay .
Cheap hotel located near the beach.
Beautiful 9 Lovely atmosphere
The staff were wonderful. The room was clean, but not that nice.
Terrible terrible terrible. Between cockroaches in our room, lizards fighting outside our room, staff gave us the wrong room upon arrival and the extremely loud environment and outrageous prices, boyfriend and I will never be back. EVER
The area doesn’t feel safe. The place is run down and old. There are better places in Costa Tica
Staff were wonderful. Loved the nightly activities and live music
Travelling alone I felt very safe at this hotel. Price was right and it was close to everything. Pool and free breakfast were an added bonus.
Booked room was next to the bar/restaurant and a but noisy. Dead cockroach on bathroom floor. We requested to change rooms and were accommodated. Waiting to see if we get partial refund.
The pool, bar, and location are awesome.
A convenient and friendly place close to beach
The hotel is one block from the beach and two-minute walk to the main street of the town where all restaurants are. Parking space is limited but parking on the street is allowed. The hotel is across street from a soccer field where games and practices happen during the evening, which make parking a challenge until they are over. In the restaurant, there are band playing almost every night when I was there. You can hear it from your room on the courtyard side. Staff is super friendly. Rooms are clean. There is a small market next door.
once inside the hotel walls it was great. Restaurant and pool area were amazing. super close to beach. but front of hotel area a little overwhelming
The area around was always with trash, toilet paper was very cheaper, other than that it was excellent
The staff were amazing! Everyone made an effort to know us by name and were incredibly helpful. My only disappointment was that our room did not have its own coffee maker but there was coffee available in the restaurant every morning by 630.
Great food and wonderful staff!
Had a great stay here! Walkable to the beach and the main area for shopping and dining. Easy street parking. Friendly staff, good breakfast. Great value for the price. Would stay here again!
Happening Hotspot
The staff are extraordinarily friendly and helpful. The pool is lovely. Breakfasts are wonderful and there is often fun entertainment at night. It’s the happening place in town!
Excellent staff! Jonathan and Karina in the restaurant. Ashley, Steven, and Luis at front desk. Luis went beyond the call in taking good care of us.
Great
Staff was super nice. Good breakfast was included. Nice pool! Food and drinks were good. Bed was very comfortable. Air conditioning worked well. Room was very small, but that just made us be outside more.
Great location by the beach and the Main Street
The hotel and staff were amazing. The restaurant was very good and staff were so helpful and friendly.
Our stay was excellent. The service and the staff were outstanding. We had a great time and we are definitely coming back next year.
The front desk was nice. But the room was too small. No room for suitcase. Bathroom very small also. The springs were sagging on the bed, it felt like you were falling off. There was a hole in the wall and a leak in the bathroom.
This is a very well managed property and is less than a block from the beach. We stayed a week and had no issues with anything at all. I would recommend The Palms if you are staying in the Coco Beach area.
It was okay
Nice lobby area, beautiful pool, great dining area, free breakfast options were great, location to beach was excellent, main floor rooms need updating. Registration staff accomidated my request to stay in the same room on reservations booked seperately. My only complaint is live entertainment is too loud and can be heard too much in upper floor rooms, but was discontinued by 10 pm each evening. Would stay here again.
It is the worst 3 stars hotels I ever experienced in 40 countries and more than 50 years travel. The room was extremly small, the unique window could not be opened, the fridge was very loud, the TV did not work, one towel was perforated, the thin walls transmitted everything happened in the neighborn room, nobody helped me to carry my luggage in the first floor, there was no water boiler or coffee machine. The reception manager lied to me several time: 1/ promised to fix the tv; 2/ promised to change the fridge; 3/ promised to give me a better room, what he constantly did for other unhappy guests; 4/ ordered a friend (private person) instead of the requested taxi; his blue car was dirty, he was not able to issue an invoice. They gave me a voucher for 50 $ for ONE dinner....this cannot compensate 7 sleepless nights (due to the firdge which was very loud everytime when connected/disconnected). I have pictures and audio-records to proof everything I wrote here.
It was nice and clean but the towels were old some were damaged. Staff was super nice. Food was expensive and not very flavorful. The bar had sketchy people among them a cpuple of ladies that weren't saying at the hotel but they were providing sexual favors to a some guests. They had a child in their table and they were very inappropriate.
The pool area and restaurant are very nice, but we made the mistake of booking the "basic" room, which is literally the size of a jail cell, with no view whatsoever. Even though we arrived before noon on a Sunday, we were told there were no rooms with a balcony available, which I found hard to believe. I strongly advise against booking the "basic" room. Also, the surrounding area isn't very appealing. The adjacent Playa del Coco has muddy sand and murky water, as do the other nearby beaches, Playa Ocotal and Playa Hermosa. In addition, none of these beaches has any chairs or umbrellas available for rent. The beaches farther south are much better, especially Playa Conchal near Brasilito.
The room was quite quaint. Clean and served the purpose of our one night stay. The bathroom taps were very loose. A little updating would be on spot.
Convenient location to beach and town. Great front desk service!
The staff are really great. We had a weee room but for the price and location to beach and restaurants and bars we can’t complain. The kitchen at the Palms is great. Their homemade soup helped me get back on my feet. We will be back!
Only rated 3 stars but I am thinking by the 4 stars is roughing it crowd. Charming oldish hotel with great staff, sweet pool, 10 steps from beach and a variety of beach food. Best red snapper ever last night. Be back in a heartbeat..
The Palms At Coco Beach | Hotel in Sardinal | Travala.com
Nothing spectacular, the pool is very nice. Food is good, and the property holds nighty events, trivia, karaoke. Etc. Some of the rooms are very small, small bed with little to no furniture. Signs that state, do not flush TP down the toilet. Paper thin walls.. loud. Close to beach and walking distance to good restaurants. For the very small room, $125 a night. This was our second time staying here. If we travel back to this Area, we will probably stay somewhere else.
