We had an awesome stay and enjoyed the Oberoi hospitality at it's best. Dining was great. It was nice to go to the sister property and dine there as well.

Terrible customer service. Would not accommodate any changes - even due to weather emergencies. I would look elsewhere. Don't stay here.

The Cecil is an amazing property- which is an oasis only ten- fifteen minutes away from Mall Road. Everyone from check - in, restaurant and check out was excellent! The lounge was absolutely our favorite place to hang out. We will most definitely return.

Amazing hospitality at Cecil Oberoi Shimla

Stay was amazing, specially the hospitality of Ms Ankita on arrival and then Shri Rajkumar, the Chef and his team members Ujjawal, Abhi, Thakur , also the Pianist Mr Ravish. It will be incomplete if I don’t mention the name of Akshay and FD Manager Deepika. All worked tirelessly to make their guests comfortable. Hats off to all members in Cecil including Sukhvinder who helped in parking the vehicle properly and safely. I really thank the Cecil team for their dedication.

The Cecil Oberoi has it all! Luxury, outstanding service, a full set of facilities in a setting of outstanding natural beauty. The staff go out of their way to be welcoming and helpful. This vintage heritage hotel with its matching standard of 5* service could have the potential to seem intimidating, however somehow they combine all this with a friendly atmosphere which makes all guests - even the youngest - feel at home. There is a dedicated area situated on a lower floor given over as an activity centre for children’s games and play. The rooms are supremely comfortable (oh, those pillows and linens!) and a room with a valley view provides a spectacular vista at dawn and dusk! The glass-fronted, heated, indoor pool provides a relaxing space to wind down after a day’s hike. Sheer luxury. Highly recommend.

Excellent & comfortable Stay

The stay was excellent. Hospitality and a warm welcome by the Oberoi team are appreciated. The housekeeping team, the Chef team, and the rest members are excellent and so cooperative.

Value for money vs brand

Considering the cost of the room, value for money was not convincing. Less costly hots would have higher comfort, service etc. Cost of brand considered way too high compared to user value.

Superb !!

Every person in the Cecil staff made us feel special. It will be unfair on my part to miss names of the staff members but unfortunately don't recall all the names. Starting from the hotel Valet to Concierge to check in by Ankita to introduction to the smiling & ever helpful Deepika. These all people along with group of others were genuinely friendly and caring. Also thanks to the beautiful girl in the kids activity room (Brown eyes - sorry dont recall name but she is from Shimla!!) who gave us tour of the hotel from the kids room to swimming pool to fitness center and spa. Special thanks to staff in 'The restaurant' who took care of our appetite with delicious food and extraordinary hospitality during Dinner and Breakfast. The restaurant staff (whom i recognize by name) - Rohit, Shree as extraordinary servers and Rajkumar as a considerate Chef, followed by every person whose name I may have skipped but cant forget their shining and genuinely friendly eyes behind their masks. Keep it up Oberoi - Loved evey moment spent with you people.

Ideally located beautiful & comfortable hotel.

I had booked six Premium rooms Valley facing for five nights for my family members. All the family members had an amazing experience and a very comfortable holiday. The Oberoi Cecil at Shimla is a beautiful property, with amazing view from the rooms. ideally located - away from general holiday crowd and yet only 1.7 kms by walk from the Mall. The hotel is well maintained, neat & clean with specious rooms and all the amenities required. Being a vegetarian and a little fussy about quality of food, I was very satisfied by the quality, hygiene, service, presentation etc. All your food needs are taken care of by personal attention of the chef & staff. Services on all fronts were excellent, be front desk, house keeping, room service, bar, dining etc. Staff was highly courteous & polite and catered immediately to any need if wanted. In all a very pleasant & comfortable stay. Would definitely like to go back again.

Best Property in Shimla City

The staff is EXCELLENT. The property is located in Shimla next to the Mall Road. This is the only 5 Star property in Shimla City. Its got a classical touch and the Hotel Staff is very acomodating.

A stay to remember

The entire stay was simply amazing. The entire staff were so welcoming and made our stay memorable. Traveling with kids is never easy but they made it so comfortable. There was a time when my younger son wanted popcorn. They staff went out of their way and got popcorn for him from the market and made it and surprised him. These small things are what makes a trip memorable. The housekeeping and the dining room staff was simply marvelous.

Fantastic stay!

My stay was fantastic nothing short of perfection and it felt very safe in the current chaos. The property is extremely charming, the staff is highly professional courteous hospitable and inclusive - a special mention to the staff at the front office, concierge, in room dining as well as the housekeeping. Each one made my stay memorable. The heated pool services are offered with full sanitation with slots and has restricted and limited usage for safety reasons. This was the jackpot and highlight of my stay. I will keep visiting the property undoubtedly.

The breakfast options could be better but only because it's oberoi - still better compared to other hospitals. Loved my stay here and would love to return to any and all Oberoi properties.

Excellent stay. Off the hook hospitality. Just registered for their loyality program. Will stay at Oberoi hotels only from now on. Only one negative was that their wasn't any snow fall in Shimla. Other than that, the best hospitality staff is of oberois only

Personalized and stately luxury

We were at the Oberoi in the shoulder season, so it wasn't too crowded. We received an extremely high level of person service, most notably when we were sitting down for breakfast one morning and we were asked if we'd like the same drinks as usual, or something to that effect. We got a free upgrade when we checked in, which was perfect for our group size. Beautiful views of the green hills out the window in the mornings. Room was very comfortable and well-kept. Five star service.

Too Good

Stay in Cecil was excellent in every respect, we had come to relax and honestly could not have chosen a better property. The staff was very very good and food excellent.My room number 206 was spacious and well furnished. The Spa facilities and heated swimming pool really made it a very relaxed trip. Cannot suggest any improvements, Will love to come back.

If Shimla is the queen of the hills then Oberoi should be called the ambassador of Shimla. They elevated the whole experience to another level. Luxury Comfort and Care. That’s Cecil!!!

We were together with family including senior citizens. The hotel is extremely luxurious and comfortable. The staff is very friendly, caring and helpful. They took proactive and extra care of everybody. Food was awesome and you can customise what you want. Overall we had a fantastic stay and would like to come back again.

Fantastic hotel, exceptional child friendly staff

We had a fantastic 4 night stay here in April with our 2 girls (age 2 and 5). On the face of it the hotel appears like a formal colonial period property, but the staff are outstanding. All levels of staff from the management to the housekeepers went out of their way to accommodate us and make the kids feel right at home, which put us at ease. The facilities are of a high standard including the gym and the pool, and there is nothing that the Chef will not make for you. The kids activity centre is well staffed and our girls enjoyed it. A special mention goes to Payal at the activity centre and Prateek in the Restaurant. The only negative thing I could say is that it would be nice to have an outdoor seating area of some description so we could enjoy the famous Shimla scenery and surroundings a bit more. We look forward to returning in the future.

Offbeat but classical Oberoi

This property is perched atop the ridge. It is one of those old world colonial heritage properties. All the elements of the hotel, the faint music in the lobby, the guests, the decor, the smell, add up to that very retro, very colonial experience. I would admit that it's slightly heavy on the pocket, but they do exemplify the Oberoi brand of hospitality. That area has many military installations, cleanliness comes free. Add to it the lush deodar cover and sunshine. Magic. We stayed here for 4 nights. In a very characteristic Oberoi gesture, they surprised us with an upgrade to premium room with a balcony overlooking the valley. Gorgeous view! The weather was perfect in the week of Valentine. One can easily be drawn to the many trails into the woods and stray off into the well maintained walkways amidst the whistling deodars. As for our room, it had a well appointed color palette that delivered a break from the usual grey's & whites. The enamel chipping away on the wooden balcony, especially, added to the charm. Sun filled the room for most part of the day, made for an extra pleasing working holiday. The narrow corridors and staircases are done in rich wood and thick carpet. The staff is super courteous. One gentleman even left a personal gift. Asked me to give it to my mother. Sweet, thanks Vineet! All in all, this was a great escape. PS: The cuisine is geared to foreign palate, so tell them your spice preferences before hand. And ignore the monkeys, seriously.

Amazing Views and Restaurant Service!

The hotel has a cottage type feeling and amazing views in the mountain view room. The service received in the restaurant was above expectations with us being served new desserts not even on the menu or things we hadn't ordered so we could still taste it. Really recommend trying the paan ice cream (ask for this even if not on menu) and the white tortini. Kashish really went above and beyond to serve us! Pleasantly surprised and look forward to coming again

Great, old world hotel built in 1800th,

Great hotel, retaining its old world charm with original extensive woodwork. Great spa facilities, excellent food choices with traditional and international cuisine . Superb service, great mountains views. Located on a Mall Road in a walking distance to most of the major attractions.

Heaven in Shimla

Another great heritage hotel in India. So many things to mention. The meal and dining room were superb. Overall ambience A+. Service over the top. Indoor pool was very nice and steam room area well maintained/clean. Breakfast was also very good. We were there during peak season but very quiet and calm inside the hotel. Fantastic

Words cannot describe the hospitality extended by the staff of Oberoi Cecil. One has to stay here to expereince what a guest oriented hotel is all about.

Weekend getaway - Oberoi style

The rooms are not essentially rooms they are beautifully maintained suites oozing the British charm. Their food was quite nice and gave us a complimentary cake too which was yum!! Their staff is trained to serve you to the best of their capabilities and they were very attentive to our needs. They have cool facilities for everyone- pool table, PlayStation table tennis, reading books, spa, heated pool. This hotel does justice to its status of luxury hotel. We had a enjoyable and relaxing time here..

With 2 kids we have to have maid with us as 1 kid is small and if we go out for dinner we need to take care of kid but there was one lady from staff at reception who was like misbehaved in terms of not keepin our maid with us . With all respect I never uttered a word but I have been traveling world and she has been with us every ware kindly take care for future

Memorable service with great decor

I've heard stories about the quality of the service at the Cecil, and was amazed to see that they were all true. The staff were all well-trained and greeted me by name whenever I encountered them. They served me a welcome hot chocolate upon arrival, and offered suggestions on how to spend my time in Shimla. Dinner was particularly memorable, as the staff were actively engaged in helping me understand the various local dishes. I ended up ordering gucchi matar (a mushroom and pea dish), which was fantastic. I also had the chance to try a few other of their delicacies, including a sorba. Service aside, the room itself was quite impressive. The suite in which I stayed looked like something out of the Viceregal Lodge. All of the furnishings were made of ornate wood, with the bathroom furnished in green marble. As I had business to conduct while visiting, I used the WiFi. Free 2 Mbps WiFi is now available. Faster WiFi is available for 500 INR, but I didn't bother to upgrade, as I found the WiFi provided to be adequate for Skype.

Oberoi Cecil is the perfect spot from which to explore Shimla. Very close to the Mall Road and with easy access to many historic sites, the rooms are elegant, the food and service excellent, and the experience of the place was great.
