Beautiful hotel, great location.
Great place to stay
Food was superb, room comfortable and generously proportioned.
Staff were so friendly, loved how the hotel was decorated- more storage for clothes would be great but overall we had a great stay. Recommend visiting the spa!
Food for dinner was lovely. Breakfast is classy and. Better than most. The spa was busy
The most stunning hotel, it has been restored beautifully. In a great location, with the city centre and nightlife a few mins walk away. We did dine in the restaurant one night and found the service to be a little slow, but the food was delicious so can't complain. Overall a fab stay, will definitely be back!
Date night
Really enjoyed our stay from start to finish
The Municipal Liverpool
Overall a great stay and I would have no complaints about the room or level of service. Some repair work however may be required in the general area around the lift with a broken glass door and repair work required to the wall on level one Once this work is carried out I feel that the Hotel would be worthy of the full four ⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating again.
Amazing stay at The Municipal
We had an amazing stay at The Municipal. Would highly recommend trying the very beautiful and relaxing Spa. As well, going for drinks and food at bar with a supreme atmosphere.
Great, lovely, but needed a bit more for price
Excellent hotel, with friendly staff. Well decorated and overall the hotel does have a high end feel to it, with bar area very impressive. Given the cost and standard expected the negatives are, reception area is very modest (not something that bothers me but does not set the scene well for rest of hotel). We were lucky to get an upgrade to superior room which was lovely but not something i could have paid the extra for while also wondering how basic the normal rooms are given the standard of the superior room. Overall its a great hotel and great staff but not sure about the value for money aspect.
Clean, comfortable and lovely staff ❤️
Poor experience
We have been to the bar in the hotel many times and although a lovely place the service is so slow - at times its painful. But, for my wifes birthday we decided as it was a lovely hotel to stay over for the night. Check in was great and the guy to showed us to room (i think has name was jude) was brilliant - a credit to the hotel The room was not great, very small and compact, on arrival into the room it was dirty with plastic wrappers on the floor and used room keys on the t station what made it worse was the show cushions had a crusty white stain on them.... they should have been binned and not placed on a bed for somebody else. Overall the room was okay but the cleanliness was poor The bathroom was lovely and the shower was hot but the drains absolutely stunk!! For the whole duration the bathroom stunk, our time in the room was minimal so we just chose to get on with it We got ready for a night out and went down for a drink where once again the service awful and around a 10 minute wait sat at the bar before managing to ask for a drink, other customers were visibly fruatrated as i said above it was painful - we finished our drinks and left for the evening After eating out we returned to the hotel the bar was quiet (around 10:30pm) so service was quicker to be fair We addressed our concerns with concierge upon checkout and she was apologetic and listenned to our concerns For such a lovely premium hotel i feel there are much better options around
Extortion price for use of pool
Be very careful booking this hotel. It has a pool…but it’s £30 per person per session to use. Nothing said when we booked. Only find out upon arrival. If we’d known, would have booked elsewhere.
Beautiful hotel with a gorgeous bar that is great place to enjoy a drink. Amenities are good.
The hotel is really beautiful, staff all pretty good service. We were told we’d been upgraded but we’re not sure what from because our room was tiny, hard to even use as a couple to be honest which we didn’t expect at this hotel at all. It was very claustrophobic. Otherwise our stay in Liverpool was perfect! Great food at Nord a short walk away!
Good hotel let down by the service
The building is incredible and the rooms are very comfortable. The reception staff and concierge were great but the service in the Seaforth restaurant and in the bar was abysmal.
Doors banging. Staff banging bins early hours. Club music on late. Beds not comfy.
There was very little room between the end of the bed and the dressing table/tv. Also they advertise a swimming pool but h the rn charge £30 per person to have a swim this is ridiculous if you are a guest this should be complimentary. Will not stay here again because of this.
What a wonderful hotel. The rooms have huge ceilings and are well appointed. The restaurant area clad in Christmas decoration was amazing! Will try to make it back soon. Loved this hotel!
Fantastic stay and was made to feel very welcome! The hotel looked stunning with all of the Christmas decorations and the staff were super lovely, kind and helpful. The ambiance at the hotel is very relaxing and would thoroughly recommend this as a hotel to stay in if you are visiting Liverpool. My only slight critique would be that the grout on the lower tiles in the shower were a bit dirty and discoloured which for a hotel of this standard I would have expected the shower to be completely clean but it wouldn’t prevent me staying at the hotel again as everything else was great.
Great for a weekend away
We went for a weekend away and the hotel was really nice, lovely bar area and friendly staff.
Room in the basement. No outside view of anything.
Refinement needed
Hotel is aesthetically pleasing, however lacks some finer details. Hotel room is genarously sized however was very hot and windows was sealed closed so not fresh air. £30pp charge for use of spa, I feel this should be included for all guests. The so called jacuzzi was cold, when mentioned to the spa assistant she just said it’s 30c and fobbed me off. Zero Customer Service. Breakfast on first morning was very slow, but they made up for it the next day. Hotel needs some refinement, and better Air Conditioning.
Hidden charges , awful customer service
Shocking customer service, rude and unprofessional service. Watch out for over priced service charges and hidden spa costs.
Had a lovely stay. Hotel is stunning. Very comfy beds. Staff wete very friendly. The spa was lovely, very clean and the staff were very friendly and i had a lovely facial. The breakfast was cooked fresh and was the best smashed avocado and egg i have ever tasted. The christmas tree in the reception check in area looked lovely.
Gorgeous Hotel!
Absolutely gorgeous hotel! Very clean, comfortable and aesthetically appealing room. Staff were awesome, very friendly and accommodating. Can’t say enough about this hotel! Definitely the ONLY hotel I’ll stay on future visits to Liverpool.
Wow. What a hotel!
The hotel is stunning, one of the most beautiful buildings revamped into a hotel that I’ve seen for a long while. The staff are extremely professional led by an amazing and friendly GM. Great food and wonderful bar/restaurant.
Just a lovely place in a lovely city
Liverpool weekend
Beautiful hotel, spa was amazing only annoying to have to pay £50 each to use. But it was a lovely spa great facilities. Room was quite small but bed and pillows fantastic we slept so well.
Staff very friendly can not do enough for you
Celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary there. Arrived at the hotel taken to our room, the staff very helpful Had a beautiful 3 course meal in the restaurant, the building is outstanding. We will definitely be back
Wonderful conversion of a grand old building. Great attention to detail. Cool bar and restaurant. Great staff.
Halloween night stay
Beautiful hotel, set in the heart of Liverpool. Lovely room, with high ceilings. Bathroom a little on the compact side, not much space between toilet and basin. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Please note that there is an additional charge for the use of the pool. I did not see anything on initial page when booking, so was a little disappointed as I would have liked to have used the facilities.
Lovely
Fab place to stay, staff are lovely.
The hotel lobby and bar area are gorgeous but I was expecting the room to be bigger and with a view. We were in a very standard room under ground. Not worth the price. Parking was close to the hotel but I didn’t get the discount advertised either and ended up paying full price.
The property is amazing with beautiful attention to detail. The staff are friendly, professional and very helpful. Had lunch which was great. Room although not huge was really well done in keeping g with the building. Definitely going back and would recommend.
Hotel boasts about having a pool and spa, it does but with a stupid price to use, it was only until i read the small print that its charged!
Amazing atay
This hotel is absolutely stunning, the staff and so lovely, helpful and professional. The bar is amazing and could r recommend it enough!
Our stay was excellent and the staff absolutely great…. Very helpful and friendly, the room was very comfortable.
Lovely hotel and spa. Staff were extremely helpful
The hotel is very attractive and the reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a ground floor room which was small and below street level. We turned the heat off but the room was still stuffy. Having said that, it was manageable for one night. We'd happily stay there again if we could have a room on a higher floor.
Great stay, very comfortable beds, clean, friendly staff and loveky breakfast in the morning.
I had just finished running a marathon. The staff upgraded us due to this! We had the most beautiful room!! We arrived to a lovely note congratulating me and some personalised chocolates! A great personal touch! The room and bathroom were clean, and the free amenities were great and of high quality. The bathrobes were a great addition and perfect for relaxing in! The building itself is old but beautifully restored and keeps all the old characteristics as well as being finished to high spec! The interior and exterior take your breath away. The staff were all amazing, polite, helpful. I stayed in a 4 star the night previous and it doesn’t come close to this, this is definitely a five star stay! I live in Liverpool, but already want to go back! Thank you for the best stay! I hope to be back very soon!
2 night stay
Beautiful stay, close to the train station and city center. Receptionist was lovely and concierge guy was friendly. The signs need to be better in the corridor, really hard to read. Room was gorgeous. Breakfast was ok, didn't appreciate the decaff tea in the morning and service was slow.
Room was very small for 2..
Great great hotel!
A mixed bag. Comfortable bed. Quiet. But the gym is basic, and only opens at 7am. Plus, breakfast: I ordered it for 6.30am, per the card in the room, only to be told (2 mins beforehand) that they couldn't supply a cooked one as their kitchen wasn't open. Instead, they delivered me a literal ton of cheese and some cold, unripe fruit.
65 th in Liverpool
Lovely hotel , great location, great staff
The municipal is absolutely fabulous! A big thank you to Adam & Jess for the lovely welcome! We hope to be back soon!
Staff wonderful, rooms beautiful
Beautiful but so many areas to improve. Stunning atrium bar/restaurant, but service was poor. Check-in problems, told about the 2 hour reservation for the spa where you have to phone at 8am the following day to book, at £30 a person. Two different rules about the pool and gym from two staff. Bar smelled of drains, orders were taken but didn't materialise, room had cheap nescafe sachets when i saw pods on the trolley on the same floor. No robes as other guests have mentioned, really poor room service menu, made by an inexperienced chef. For the price, I wouldn't recommend it, but it is a lovely location for drinks (just don't sit by the bar)
Loved this hotel! All of the staff were really friendly and helpful, and we were able to check in early as the room was ready when we arrived to drop our bags off at lunchtime. Couldn’t hear any outside traffic and I am a light sleeper, one of the best hotel sleeps I have ever had! Can’t fault this hotel and will happily stay again!
Beautiful hotel. Very tasteful decor. Bar area stunning. Bedroom lacked some facilities. Lighting poor in dressing area .
Lovely evening and spa day at the hotel. Fabulous breakfast, lovely spa experience and clean room. Hotel beautiful simply stunning.
Hotel is beautiful we were really excited about staying in this hotel when we arrived at the hotel the bar area stood out for us it was so pretty probably one of the best hotel bars we have stayed in. Our room was clean and spacious as I think we must of been put in a disabled room as the bathroom was a wet room with a chair in it and was all very small as my husband head kept hitting his head on the shower head . We had a really uncomfortable sleep as for some reason we had two single beds pushed together to make it into a double which I thought was wrong we paid to sleep in a double bed not 2 single beds so every time we moved we sank in the middle which made are sleep was very uncomfortable for the price you pay to stay in a beautiful hotel you would also expect to sleep in comfort which unfortunately me and my husband never which there for really disappointed are stay at this hotel .
A magnificent hotel staff were fantastic wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again
Fabulous property. Incredible features& architecture. Reception staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming & nothing was too much trouble. Fabulous stay
Impressive deco period hotel recently converted from grand old city council offices. The cocktail bar is beautiful as are all the public areas. Our was quiet, comfy bed, coffee equipment and perfect. The shower was powerful and easy to use. Friendly staff and central location for the main sights. Only areas for improvement could be a soft close mechanism for the bathroom door which bangs shut. Also, breakfast at £25pp is not worth it. Go 100 meters up the road to Dale Street Kitchen and Bar for a fabulous breakfast at half the price.
IMPORTANT : It is £30 to use the POOL ! Pool and Sauna/Steam Room etc. and Pool use costs £30 The Website does state this if you open a few Drop-Down menus. Unless you're looking for it -you won't open the text. It is very much the proverbial 'small print' I just booked using Tesco Vouchers saw the hotel, Bar & Pool/Sauna photos and assumed this would be free to Hotel Guests. NEVER ASSUME It's the first time I've come across this - so I will be wise next time. The Hotel is ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS in all other aspects however. I was just disappointed with this cost. £30 is daylight robbery.
Liked everything about it. Just wish the price to stay would stay low so we could afford to stay here every time we visit Liverpool

Lovely new hotel but!
Lovely building and really well refurbished. The bar area is beautiful as are the rooms. The only thing that lets the hotel down is housekeeping issues - no towelling robes on room and had to chase twice for these. Too little milk, tea and coffee in the room. We will definitely be back but people seem to have been mentioning about the lack of towelling robes for a while now so hopefully someone at the hotel gets to grip with these issues.
Fantastic stay. Beautiful hotel.
A great property in the city centre convenient for all attractions
Excellent hotel with very grand features. Rooms are beautiful with big high ceilings. Staff are extremely helpful. Would definitely stay again
Beautiful hotel, amazing staff, pool and spa is a must the guys there are so professional. Food is brilliant, the hotel definitely has the wow factor
Beautiful hotel
Lovely hotel in a great location. A little disappointing that use of the spa was an additional fee.
Liked everything
The hotel was absolutely stunning. Rooms where spotless and very comfortable. Bar area was really nice and very chilled . Staff where fab from when we walked in would deffo return
Amazing hotel, staff are very friendly and nothing is too much for them, beautiful inside and out and very clean and comfortable room. Enjoyed every minute of our stay
Lovly hotel clean wardrobe was to small
Service in the bar was slow and often had to go to the bar. One morning I was in the bar for over an hour before I went to the bar to order a coffe as the staff just didn’t venture outside the bar area.
Almost perfect
Lovely hotel. Beautifully presented and everywhere was very clean. We had 2 small points, one was I asked the concierge about happy hour as we’d read there was 2 for 1 cocktails. He told me it was 4-6 but didn’t say it wasn’t on a Friday so we ordered ( probably should have checked!) and paid an eye watering price for 2 drinks. The other is our drinks tray wasn’t replenished when they serviced our room and we only realised when we looked for teabags for our morning cuppa. Not a big thing but for the cost of the room a bit disappointing. Apart from that it was a lovely stay
Everything could not fault our stay
This was a great place to stay. The room was spotless. We had a very enjoyable stay.
Great Hotel.
Excellent hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Great location in the heart of Liverpool.
Excellent hotel - from the first moment you walk in to a very warm and friendly greeting from reception staff, the experience is first class. Rooms are fabulous - this is an old government (hence ‘Municipal’) office building converted to hotel - high ceilings, plenty of space in rooms. The central bar/lounge/dining area has a wonderful vibrant atmosphere and just a great place to sit and chill with a drink and watch the goings on of a busy hotel. Location of hotel is great - central Liverpool, but only 5 minute walk from main shopping area, Cavern club music area and 10-15 minute walk to waterfront docks area. Buses and train station close and easy to use. Taxi and Uber immediately available if required.
Very nice and close to docks.
Could be better
Nice hotel but look beneath the surface and had a few issues. Room AC didn’t work properly and was sweating at 25 deg so had to move rooms. Funny drain smell in the bathroom in the mornings and service at the lobby bar area felt under staffed, took a very long time to order drinks and staff seemed a bit too busy to cope. Breakfast was very good and standard of the rooms was potentially excellent. I think they know they have issues with tiles and boxings being cut open in the bathrooms. Overall 6/10 would probably book elsewhere next time.
Outstanding hotel with excellent service. The service they provided and the interactions with the staff left you feeling special - these folks are really customer centric! Used the spa which was fantastic, very tranquil and relaxing. The whole stay was superb. Would recommend, 5 out of 5 for everything! Well done 👏.
Great restaurant and bar and rooms were great. Easy walking to everything in town. Staff very friendly and professional.
A wonderful renovation in Liverpool
Very nice hotel, pleasant staff, decent restaurant,my only complaint is that there should be more signage, finding the lifts in the morning was a little difficult! However a very nice stay!
Anniversary break
Classy hotel, staff were all friendly and helpful and the room was lovely and comfortable. Definitely recommend a visit.
15.7.24
Amazing hotel, the room was lovely, bed so comfy, shower fantastic Close to all the beatles memorabilia
1 negative point
We have just returned from a fantastic stay to celebrate an anniversary. All the staff members we encountered we all super friendly and efficient! I’d definitely recommend this hotel real quality 👌 The only negative point was the when we enquirer about using the pool we were told it would be £30 per person even though we were residents????
Beautiful hotel indeed, friendly staff too. Would recommend to others.
Lovely stay
I only stayed for one night for work, but was impressed with the service and friendliness of the staff. I was shown to my room and given a brief tour of the hotel amenities which was a nice touch. The room itself was quite small but decorated very nicely and had everything you’d need. The bed was extremely comfortable and was like sleeping on a cloud! The hotel is only a 10 minute walk from Liverpool Lime St railway station and lots of shops. Would happily stay again.
Super friendly staff and extremely helpful would love to stay again :)
Top Class Hotel
Perfect stay from our arrival on the steps with the doors being held open for us (never experienced that before) right through to check out. Beautifully spacious and spotless room - lucky us we were given an upgrade. Super comfy bed and pillows. It was so quiet in our room - no noise from traffic or other rooms. All the staff were so professional and immaculately turned out. Top marks to the luggage concierge with the shiniest shoes I’ve ever seen. Thanks to all of the staff - you made us feel so special for the weekend 😘
Rooms were all clean and tidy, staff were fab, rooms were too hot but still an excellent stay 👌
Lovely hotel. Breakfast was lovely. Good location.
Wonderful old building
Excellent Hotel.
M gallery have done a wonderful job of turning the old council offices into a palatial hotel. Room was of a good size with excellent facilities. 3 small but common nags could have made the room and stay perfect. 1 only four tiny sachets of milk, but enough tea bags and coffee for half a dozen cups. There’s a fridge so why not put fresh milk in it. 2. The breakfast is very expensive at £25pp. So we went to a little cafe up the road and got breakfast for under £20 for both of us. 3. My wife says a man designed the room as like so many hotels there’s a giant TV over the dressing table instead of a mirror and good light. There was a decent full length mirror though.
Fantastic hotel alround. Lovely building. Very nice staff. Clean and beautiful room. Would definitely stay again but only when the rates are a bit cheaper
Very pleasant overnight stay
I had to use the torch on my phone to see which toilet to use near the bar the corridor was that dark
Beautiful building, lots of character, lovely decor, good quality furnishings. Bedroom had a rather strange configuration as the bathroom was in the middle of the room so the bed was rather enclosed by the walls. Breakfast very good and service good
nice rooms
Lovely bar great property only downside the rooms are very small
Had a wonderful time.

Great location , great bar - terrible breakfast
Ok so positives are great location and I loved the bar area , great for pre dinner drinks or an afternoon coffee . Rooms are ok but could do with a good clean , shower grout etc all very grubby . Decided to have breakfast in the hotel for £23 . I ordered the eggs royal and the eggs arrived hard , they were not enjoyable to eat as were boiled eggs with a bit of cheese sauce so left them with eggs open so kitchen could see . Mentioned to waitress and she did apologise . Still charged £23 - expensive glass of orange juice !
