Clean convenient
Excellent location with lots to see and do in walking distance. Difficult to find parking in the area, but with some planning can be mitigated. Staff were lovely and professional.
This was a fun and unique property in SF. The staff were super friendly and answered any question we had. I loved the charm of the original rooms. Great hotel for an affordable price in SF.
Helpful staff, great location, quiet rooms, and comfy bed. Would recommend to get a feel for a vibrant SF nieghborhood.
very average
Cute and convenient hotel. I would definitely stay there again.
Great staff and nice room!
This Hotel is in The Lower Haight neighborhood in San Francisco. The hotel is two blocks from Haight St. I loved the location. It is a 30 minute walk to Panhandle park and the beginning of Golden Gate.Park. I walked to the Golden Gate Bridge--about 5 miles, with hills. The entire staff at the front desk was excellent. Rebecca and Ashley were both attentive.and.informative, as was the remainder of the staff. There are plenty of outstanding restaurants walking distance from the hotel.
awesome stay! i loved the details of the room.
A little sf oasis
Phenomenal little hotel on a charming street in SF. Compact but comfortable with warm lighting, good water pressure, and a soft bed. A relief to be stationed outside of downtown. Only improvement would be if they could tuck a little Nespresso machine in the room, but luckily there's a top tier coffee shop next door. Found my new place to stay in the city!
Wonderful staff, beautiful artwork and a very comfortable bed. Walkable to multiple restaurants and park. Central area of San Francisco. Will stay again.
Staff was super courteous and attentive. The hotel itself is awesome, full of charm and the bed was perrrrfect!! What I would have liked was coffee service in the room. But Tommy supplied me with a kettle and I was able to make my own. That was super nice.
Great home base in Lower Haight
Check in was easy! Very thankful they could hold our bags. The room was exactly what we needed. There was no in room fridge which we adjusted for but would have been handy. My only complaint is that the outdoor area was unkempt and just looked like a place that either the hotel or the restaurant they share it with store rundown or broken things. It did not seem inviting or as it was pictured on the site.
This is a small boutique hotel in an older building. On the negative side, don’t expect a luxury hotel with all the amenities, and my room was quite small. However, the location is great, and it is very clean and well kept. Daily cleaning service with fresh soft towels every day. I enjoyed staying there!
clean, efficient, affordable stay without any frills. convenient to Golden Gate Park, Haight and Hayes Valley.
Charming and perfect location
Friendly staff and great location , charming neighborhood, clean and lots of shops and little cafes nearby
Modern Hotel in a Great Neighborhood
Really cute, old-school hotel (they give you a physical key!) in arguably the best neighborhood in San Francisco. Amazing restaurants, coffee shops, stores, etc. are all just feet away. Rooms a clean and modern and have everything you need. A hidden gem.
Perfect lodging near GGP, great service. Thank you.
Super cute hotel. I’ve always wanted to stay here and would definitely stay again.
We love The Metro Hotel! This was our second time staying. The hotel staff is always incredibly friendly and goes above and beyond to ensure a comfortable, great stay! The hotel is conveniently located near shops and restaurant, you can walk out the door and grab coffee in seconds! We stayed in a 2 queen room as a family of 4 with two kids and had more than enough space! Our kids asked if the next hotel could be like the Metro! We cannot wait for our next stay!
The bathroom was extremely small, but functional. Really cool fan in the room, but it did not operate properly.
Loved the aesthetic. So many food options right out the door. Great area.
It was cute
My daughter and I can in for one night. This hotel, has the best staff, the rooms are great and the location is perfect. I highly recommend.
loved the intimacy of a small neighborhood hotel in the heart of a big city neighborhood.
Hallways in this hotel smelled like vaping smoke and weed! The front desk person greeting us, had just come back from a smoke break, and it made the entire lobby, hallway/steps smell like it. Or room was clean and opening the windows made it so much better.
Nice staff. Effective use of space. Clean. Comfortable bed. Small room. No view. TV difficult to operate.
So comfortable
Incredibly comfortable beds and linens! The art and decor of the hotel are phenomenal.
Awesome location, and wonderful staff. Everyone was so nice and the room/decor was all so adorable.
We loved to stay at Metro hotel
Amazing little boutique hotel.
This stay was my second time at The Metro Hotel. I absolutely love the location and I will continue to stay here for pride for years to come.
Love this hotel! It’s the best part of town. They’re super friendly and it’s really peaceful and comfy!
Friendly spot in great location
Friendly little spot in a lovely walkable neighborhood. Very clean room and bathroom. We had a room with a window into an internal air shaft thing which was great for getting cool air in at night while still keeping it quiet in the room. Nice little back patio tucked into the trees.
Good place, great staff!
We stayed here over night moving my daughter home. We had a car full of stuff. The front desk guy was incredibly helpful to us. He went out of our way to make sure her belongings were secure and we could find a safe parking spot. The location is great - it's just in the city and I wouldn't leave a bunch of stuff in your car in any city! The woman working in the morning was equally helpful. Thank you! You made our stay! The place was great - it's not fancy, but it was clean, it seemed well-maintained, and had character. I'd stay here again.
Everyone was wonderfully kind and even allowed me to use their lobby charging space once I was checked out. I had a great stay and would recommend!
Poor sound proof
Always wonderful
We’re a band on tour and it’s the perfect place to stay when we play in town. We all can hang at end of night cuz there’s three beds and great location! Easy to walk to coffee and Painted Ladies
Clean, comfy and very small
This was our second stay at this location and we'd for sure recommend it. Pros - charming boutique hotel with character in a wonderful location, clean rooms and comfy beds, affordable for the area, nice staff and option to text with front desk. Cons - no fridge (we wasted so much food 😭), TINY rooms (like you will have to get creative to avoid tripping over your luggage), bathroom has hardly any wall space and bad lighting (easily fixed with shelves and a backlit mirror), no parking. The pros outweigh the cons for sure.
Little bit expensive for the room size, but nice.
The hotel was very cute and in an excellent location. The staff was freindly and helpful and the bed was really comfortable. It had a nice funky vibe , cool artwork everywhere and a lovely sitting area outside. The only complaint I have is there was no coffee/tea. There were plenty of coffee shops around, but to not have complimentary coffee/tea is just odd.
Staff was very friendly, especially Ashley who even came upstairs to show us a few things on the temperature control .
Derrick at the front desk was incredible! Very friendly, and gave great recommendation for breakfast. Was in room 115. Recommend moving the mirror over the “desk” area. Move the TV to wall at end of bed.
Great condition overall. Very comfy beds. Bright rooms. Love the big fan.
Loved the feel of the hotel
Perfect!
Area is great. Restaurants, bars, walkability, etc. Room was too small. It was hard to navigate around the bed as it was too tight. Window couldn’t be opened
Great location in SF near the Haight and lots of dining. I stayed to be near a show at the Independent and it was perfect for that.
This was my first stay at the Metro and will definitely book again for my next trip to SF! Charming, well appointed, convenient location.
Cozy place and room, great location, but room was quite small, probably the smallest we’ve ever stayed in. And no coffee/tea or elevator?
lots of art work on the wall. the staff is very nice
Very charming and a great location to restaurants and shops.
:)
Small room, but very clean
Lewis and staff were very friendly and accommodating during our stay.
It is such a great location and you can walk to so many restaurants and parks nearby. The rooms are small and efficient with a wonderful accent on decor. It is all you need for a stay in the city.
I like the character of the Hotel and uniqueness, the area was nice as well, but my room was noisy at night
nice stay in a no frills environment. great staff and great location
Excellent staff. Room a little small. Stand alone heater needed to warm room.
Front desk staff were lovely!
A perfect, easy base.
So happy to have found The Metro. A really easy, chilled hotel in the middle of such a great street, yet quiet and peaceful. A perfect stop for parents of USF students visiting!
This hotel is in a great location of the city. It is a stylish boutique hotel that has very comfortable rooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking is off site on the street so be prepared to be patient. We loved it and will be back!
We wanted to try something different from the tourist and downtown area . Nice feel to the area will bars and restaurants close by. Old style hotel feel with clean modern room
I'll be back
Totally comfy hotel. Nice vibe. Great helpful staff. Proximity to restaurants. All good.
Nice and tight
Lovely hotel in the midst of a vibrant neighborhood. Stairs and smallish rooms to be expected.
No elevator. No coffee in rooms.
Very small room just enough for the bed! Typical in San Francisco but this one took the cake!
Petty cheapness for the price
Pros: One of the only hotels in this part of town. Which has lots of great things in walking distance. Comfortable mattress. The room I stayed in had no street noise. Cons: Very tiny room. Cheap and uncomfortable chairs. A strangely small single trashcan. No mini-fridge. No microwave. Sink is not in the bathroom. Bathroom has one of those creepy sliding doors that lets people peek in on your when closed. This is supposed to be an arty hotel, but all the art is boring generic corporate art, should be on the wall of a bank. And BIGGEST con, is that the heater for the room is super cheap and barely functional. You could buy a high end space heater for half the cost of one night in that place, but instead they have a clunky loud clicking used one from mom's garage.
great location, cute hotel, small rooms
Pros: perfect location on a fun street, centrally located; front desk staff was friendly and attentive; bed and bedding was very comfortable; decor and rooms nicely updated; private bathrooms for most/all rooms; lots of restaurants and coffee shops within 1-2 blocks; safe neighborhood. Cons: it's an older building, so some of the rooms are absolutely tiny; not really even a place to store your suitcase; TV did not work for three nights of my 5-night stay (I was issued a very small refund, however); more expensive than surrounding hotels
Unique, funky awesome hotel!
It is a boutique hotel - an old house converted into hotel. It is charming and located in a good neighborhood. May be a good place for someone looking for a unique, not run down the mill type hotel. However it did not meet my expectations of a standard hotel room in America. There was no elevator so we had to carry our heavy bags two floors up. The room was very small, barely any space around the bed. There was no desk - I needed to work from hotel which wasn’t possible, no coffee machine or refrigerator. The bathroom was the smallest I have seen. Overall the hotel and the room is something you would see in Europe but won’t expect in the U.S.
Really liked the location and staff. The property was clean and spacious, would have been good to have coffee and tea facilities but doesn't seem to be common in US? Loved the art on thr walls and the frontdesk staff were brillliant. Really friendly and helpful. Would stay again.
Crash n dash
Hotel is fine to stay but NO ammenities whatsoever...basic place to crash essentially.
Great
Charming Boutique Hotel
When I walked into the Lobby of this charming Hotel, after a long afternoon of travel, I was immediately charmed by its’ ambience. The colorful artwork brought a smile to my face, and the friendliness of the night desk clerk, Kevin, helped to melt away my weariness. I LOVED my quaint room, and as a female version of Howie Mandel, I appreciated its sparkling cleanliness!! I spent only 8 hours there, being there only fir a medical appointment early the next morning at UCSF, but my overall experience there left me wanting to visit again, when I could spend more time in your lovely hotel!

The property is an older building in lower haight, which has cute charm, but that means thin walls and hearing everything your neighbors do. I had a family with kids above my room and I could hear every footstep and anytime water was used. My room was small and somewhat cramped, but worked for me as I did not spend much time in it. The hotel staff is great and it’s in a great location.
