My husband and I booked this “4 star” hotel for the last leg of our honeymoon. We wanted to stay at someplace nice and splurge our last days of the trip. We paid $700 for two nights. We showed up and the area and not at all what people described. Everyone raved about the location but it’s 3 minutes away from unsafe and sketchy areas. It’s the start of the “okay” area. I didn’t feel safe walking around at night due to bars on nearby businesses and graffiti everywhere. It was also a good 15 minute walk to the main tourist areas. The room was gross and the walls were scuffed up. The shower had stains on it. I was so disappointed. I had stayed in nicer areas our entire honeymoon (we started and ended in Rome) that were WAY cleaner, nicer, and in a better area for $300 total. This place is a total rip off for the price. I would say “you get what you pay for” if we paid $250 total. I tried to get a refund and tried to move due to safety reasons and Expedia was so slow to help and the hotel’s answer to my safety concern was “you don’t have to leave”. Listen. It’s a fine hotel. But not for the price tag. You can get safer, cleaner, and a better area for a fraction of the price. Owners, get a grip. Your hotel is not worth $300 a night.
The staff was super friendly and accommodating and checked in on us regularly. Great location too!
Everyone was very helpful and cordial.
Nice boutique hotel in an excellent location. Nice facilities and service but they didn't offer any VIP perks for a Platinum Expedia member so I don't think they should be listed as a VIP property.
Quiet area and the property itself was spectacular. Rooms were spacious, food was delicious. I would highly recommend staying here.
Spacious rooms.
Staff could have been more informative
The Major was nice. The location is pretty good. About 25 min walk to the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish steps. Lots of restaurants near by. The room was great ! I loved the towel warmers and the deep 🛁 bathtub. My only complaint was the staff. They were very polite but not very attentive at all. I had to ask a lot of questions that I thought they should have informed me about without me having to ask. Ex: I was not informed about the rooftop restaurant. I was not informed about check out times. I was not informed why I had to write down my credit card number at check in. Etc.
No heating. No solution. No upgrade, Nothing.
Great spot
Would loved to stay again, just what we need.
Great hotel in an excellent location. Only 10 minute walk from train station. Room was clean and well appointed albeit a little small but enough space for one. The staff were excellent and accommodating. Highly recommend.
The personal frim Tge Major was amazing, they make our trip a great experience. The location of the hotel is ideal to move around the city.
Lovely boutique hotel with nice roof top area - very convenient to access all tourist attractions mostly by foot - great transport links. Only disappointment was the limited breakfast selection and could do with a variation daily. Staff were super attentive and the room was large, clean and very comfy bed and pillows
The hotel is in a very good location a few minutes walk from the Termini railway and bus stations and conveniently located for most of the major sites of Rome, particularly Santa Maria Maggiore. There are many restaurants and bars in the area. The staff in the hotel were very smart, friendly and helpful; they used WhatsApp to communicate with us before and during our stay, and Stefano on reception made sure to ask us at the beginning and near the end of our stay if everything was satisfactory with the room. When we asked for an electric kettle, one was put into the room by the time we returned. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a large comfortable bed and a large bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower. I only have two minor niggles: the lift was slow, so we could wait a while on it; and the rooftop bar was festooned with lights, so at night it was very difficult to see out. These are very minor issues, and I would happily stay at Hotel Major again.
We booked the last available room. It was clean and staff was wonderful. Front desk lady provided great recommendations for local restaurants.
The hotel itself was excellent and the staff was accommodating, friendly, and very helpful. The room was very nice and the location was great, if you were wanting to walk to the train. Not as close to other attractions in Rome but a decent uber ride away. However, the restaurant at the top of the hotel was less than desirable. The food was excellent but the staff was extremely rude and we had two separate experiences there that left a bad taste in our mouth. The first time, the gentlemen who sat us made an extremely rude and sexist comment about be to my husband which the staff laughed off but we did not appreciate. The second offense was to my husband, we came back to our room being cleaned so we headed to the rooftop bar to grab a drink while we waited and he had already had a soft drink in his hand and the staff turned their nose up to him and told him he was not allowed to bring that and they were upset with him. Please know that the hotel was amazing but I would skip the rooftop restaurant and go to any other place in Rome!!
The room was big. Not sure it was an upgrade. The room was way too hot and the fan and ac didn’t seem to work. Good luck w WiFi. I accidentally booked this on the wrong day and it was unsuccessful at changing ressy. I basically paid twice. We didn’t use restaurant upstairs but it looked cute.
Excellent spot with fantastic staff
Beautiful hotel with friendly and knowledgeable staff!
The location is convenient, it's clean and decorated very nicely. We really enjoyed our stay and would book here again.
Room was spacious, clean, haf all required amenities. Staff were amazing, bar and restaurant was good. Room was next to serive door and was noisy, recommend 2nd floor or above
We loved our stay at this hotel The staff was friendly & kind great location
Ms.
I had a wonderful stay on my first trip to Roma. The property was very clean and charming too. All details have been thought of - everything I needed was in the rooms. I also appreciated the location for its conveniences and beauty.
Helpful staff, excellent breakfast. The room was a little small but worked. Very slow elevator, we usually used the stairs. Charged for using the in room coffee pod - a little strange.
The hotel was very clean and beautiful. It has a very centric location. Staff was helpful and kind.
My stay At the Major hotel was Ok . Area was safe and lots of stores nearby . However not as accommodating as other hotels I’ve stayed at in the past. None of the rooms have microwaves to heat up food or use . Asked if I could have my food heated up or a microwave to use and they said no unless we buy something off them … never had this experience in any other hotel. Other than that everything else was good and they speak English which was very helpful!
Very expensive bar, only middle eastern food at the restaurant, very expensive and average buffet breakfast, slow elevator.
Quick 2-day stay in Rome, very friendly staff and clean room. Close to Termini station for great travel links to all parts of Rome. Roof top bar worth a visit.
Great hotel in downtown Rome near the main train station and easy acess to airport. Location is very convenient, especially for short stays in the city. Rooms are large, modern and stylish. Great breakfast and beautiful rooftop. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved our stay. Highly recommended.
Great hotel, location perfect and room was as expected. My only gripe was the charge for coffee pods. I’ve stayed in similar hotels across Europe where in room coffee is included at no extra charge. More annoyed at the principle than the cost! (€1.50)
Lovely stay - big birthday celebrations
Lovely well equipped rooms (we had two) Great location Gorgeous decor throughout Would recommend
Beautiful property. Close to train station and other remarkable areas. Thank you for upgrading our room for free and always checking if we needed anything
Beautiful room with a beautiful view!
Good location to main train station
Business trip, close to main train station
Great view!
Friendly staff, great location, clean and very easy to check in… super recommended… i had a balcony and woke up early to take that stunning picture!
Very convenient location if you want to walk from Roma Termini and want to take advantage of the Metro. Lots of tourist attractions are an easy 15-20 walk away. The staff was very nice and very helpful.
Beautiful property
It was ok but there was a slight sewerage scent in the hallway that came in under the door
Hotel was nice. Most places I wanted to see were walkable, and they had room service for a decent price when I was running behind on time to go eat. However, the bed was not that great and the pillows were flat. It made sleeping hard. Also, I had purchased breakfast and the days I stayed, my tours began before breakfast, so I had to go without. I had talked to the front desk person about it days prior, checking what time breakfast is and letting him know my tour left early the next day, then my flight left early the last day. Upon checkout, he then let me know they could’ve made me a breakfast box if I had just let them know. It made me so upset because I gave him all that info days before and he didn’t suggest it.
Great hotel, Excellent staff,Perfect location. Thanks so much,we had a great time.
Great location. Good value for money.
Clean, modern and very well kept. Very, Very friendly and helpful staff. Would come back in a heartbeat!!!!
Great
Amazing stay!
Amazing stay!! The staff was so friendly and even accommodated me with an early check in since I arrived around 10:45ish. The room was awesome, designed very trendy with Lanvin soaps. There’s also a rooftop with a great restaurant and it’s walking distance from the center and very close to the colosseum. I highly recommend this hotel!
Such a shame when we chose a late breakfast on the rooftop, because it went passed check out time while we were eating the reception felt they needed to send a WhatsApp to remind us of check out, 10 minutes after the time when we had been at breakfast for 30 minutes, luggage in tow. Then more messages to remind me to pay city tax, which we of course would have done when we checked out. Made us feel rushed
The bar available at the fifth floor was very convenient and has a nice view. The room was clean and spacious. The front staff was kind.
Very nice hotel close to every where good breakfast good stuff I like the balcony in my room
The property is beautiful and when you walk in, the lobby smells amazing. When you get into your room, it smells like sewer. When you scan your key to open your door, it makes a very loud noise. You can hear each person going in and out of their room. My toilet made a noise every 10 minutes. I would not stay here.
Modern and spacious room and bathroom in the center of Rome! 5 minute walk to the train station. Helpful tourist agency across the street. We walked everywhere from the hotel (Colosseum, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and even Vatican City). Also, extremely grateful to friendly hotel staff. Arrived from Transatlantic flight very sick on my stomach and the staff were able to check us in early, so I could rest and recover in the privacy and comfort of a room. Thank you!
Very clean, very nice room.
Great place: awesome service, very good breakfast. Everything is close either by walking, public transportation or taxi. Subway station is in the same building with a railroad station with multiple shops and restaurants there. Including premium ones. 6 minutes walk from hotel.
The place is clean and cozy. The layout of the room is nice. Really spacious and modern bathroom. It was a wonderful stay. Got complimentary wine and treats. Great location as well.
Welcome sparkling wine was great, room good size, safe and quiet near Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore, and relatively short walk from Termini station. Helpful staff and clean room condition throughout. Thank you.
Everyone was super nice. Clean and nice rooms.
Great hotel in Rome.
A lovely sray in Rome. Located a short walk to the main train station with plenty of options for transport to all the places you may want to go. The team at the hotel were fantastic. When we arrive it was late and they helped us get some food and also checked us in quickly. The room was very comfortbale and a nice size.
Beautiful hotel! Perfect from walking to downtown Rome without the crazyness of all the tourist walking in the main streets. Is located 5 minutes away from Roma Termini, so you can catch all the trains there. The rooms are beautiful and feels really new and fancy. I will come back.
Lovely boutique hotel with attentive staff and an excellent rooftop restaurant with a great cathedral view.
Loved everything and the manger/host of the kitchen/restaurant was so hospitable and amazing he made the place feel welcoming.
By far my favorite stay in Europe so far. The hotel is beautiful, with a prime location. My room had a spectacular view and was very spacious. Equipped with any/all amenities I needed. The staff is phenomenal—very warm and hospitable, did not hesitate to assist me in any way. They were always eager to help and went out of their way to communicate that. 10/10 will stay here again—I’ve already recommended to my friends!
Excellent Hotel
modern, comfortable and very clean hotel. excellent location. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The rooftop restaurant Masa was so good that we dined there twice during our stay.
The staff was very helpful.
Great location, comfy room and friendly service!
Great location, comfy room and friendly service!
Hotel is super nice very new and modernized and very friendly staff
The Major is centrally located and is a perfect selection for those looking for a nice place to stay. We used the room as a the centre point for exploring Rome. It was always a nice place to return to.
I would never stay here agian. There is a party bar (MASA) on the top floor of this hotel and the drunken patrons like to holler and shout in the hallways of the hotel at 1am (seems to be the Italian thing to do). The room cleaning staff left all of the dirty dishes in our room, the towels were dirty, the bed was like a sheet of plywood…there are to many reasons to list here. We booked the Major Hotel transfer from the cruise terminal in Civitavecchia to Rome (this is about 1 hour drive). The driver did not show up at the Norwegian Terminal to pick us up as per the contract. After several phone calls, text messages and his failure to show up, we were forced to take our luggage over to a shuttle bus and ride that out to Piazzale Largo Della Pace and find our driver. There is a small toll fee to enter this area of the port, but the driver refused to pay this, all the other drivers, buses and taxis were inside the port right beside the Norwegian Terminal doors, dock side. This delayed our arrival in Rome for scheduled event at 12 noon. I would never stay here again.
Monti was a new area for us to explore in Rome, which was a welcome change and it is a nice area with many dining options including local restaurants that don't cater as much to tourists so you are getting a local eating experience. While it is a 10 minute walk to the train station, its not that close that you should be concerned about noise or safety (Rome is pretty safe all over). There was a little noise in the early AM (6:30-7:30am) on one of our days that sounded like garbage cans being moved around, but it was unclear whether that came from the hotel or an adjacent building. It is a big city after all and noise is inevitable.
Rooftop restaurant was lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful when the airline lost my luggage.
Enjoyed our couple stay here
Friendly and Helpful staff, nice location, well kept. We had a very nice 2 night stay here. Will come back soon.
I loved this hotel. Location just 10 min walking to the Coliseum, 15 min to Trevi’s fountain.
Nice hotel, near bus transportation and train station.
The breakfast was great!
Excellence and style
The Major is an excellent hotel. The rooms are beautiful, well designed and comfortable. The staff, without exception, are friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel is a short walk from Termini and it is an easy walk to the main tourist sites. Hope to return!
We were a group of 6 (3 rooms) everyone was impressed with the staff and facility and really enjoyed the Roof Top Bar and most important felt completely safe at all times.
Santa Maria Maggiore Boutique Hotel
Nice little Boutique Hotel by Santa Maria Maggiore. Room was big enough and comfortable. The big plus is the terrace bar with beautiful views of Santa Maria Maggiore and the Rome skyline. Perfect for sunsets.
The Major was a perfect compliment to our incredible time in Rome - the staff was friendly & helpful - the property was updated & comfortable - it was within walking distance to all of the major sites to see in the busy city - we would highly recomend!
Accommodating staff, clean room and walkable location near most attractions. We enjoyed.
This property was absolutely wonderful. Our room was very spacious, uniquely laid out, comfortable with a modern, stylish bathroom. Staff was nice, courteous and helpful with our dinner reservation. Rooftop bar was fabulous with great views and fine cocktails. Location was good, close to major attractions. We truly enjoyed our stay in this hotel and will recommend it to anyone visiting Rome
The hotel is nice and staff very attentive through WhatsApp even before and after our stay. The rooftop that they advertise is very small not lounge chairs only tables that you as guest can not use unless you have a reservation as everyone else. We we’re excited to have a rooftop but at the end couldn’t enjoy as guests only in the morning for breakfast which was average as well, not the kind you expect for what you’re paying. Rooms are quite small. The location is ok but not as convenient is quite far for the nice areas like Spanish steps and peatonal areas with shopping you have to walk there at least 30 minutes one way… we really thought it was more central the location at least for what almost many tourists want in Rome.
Great location! Friendly & knowledgeable staff.
The classic room advertises a king size bed on Expedia but it is not a king size bed. Hotel is apparently aware of the issue but doesn’t notify you of the discrepancy until check in.
Liked: the staff and the location. Disliked: the rather slow lift.
I overall loved this property! It was a typical European hotel with the size of the room/bathroom, but it was still nice!
Hot water didn't kick in until the morning (we ended up taking a cold bath) but the upgraded room was very spacious and lovely, with a great view of the Basilica. Staff were friendly. Breakfast left something to be desired (no fresh fruit, offering was decent but not spectacular).
Easy walk from train station. All of the personnel was extremely helpful.
Easy walk from train station. The personnel at The Major were very helpful. Great place to stay.
I loved my stay at The Major! I had to change my hotel plans last minute and was lucky to find a room here, and it ended up being better than I imagined. The hotel is just 10 minutes walking from Termini station, and well located within the city of Rome—I wish I had more time to explore! The rooftop bar was so relaxing and the breakfast was delicious. A lovely experience, all around.
Hotel is well located, staff wasn't helpfull, lot of noise from the street.
Property was upgraded Did not like seeing a vacuum left in the Hallway all day and overnight
Hotel is not worth it’s money
Rome weekend break
excellent location with views of st Mary Major basilica
Would stay again. Breakfast was decent.
Definitely recommend this hotel. The staff were so helpful, the roof top bar/restaurant was fabulous. Room was big, comfy and had everything we needed. Could not fault this hotel in any way. Thank you for making the trip to Rome amazing.
Breakfast option is poor. Service is also very slow
Amazing staff - very accommodating and helpful!
Great location to sights and Roma Termi .Staff excellent. Nice upgraded rooms, bathrooms and common areas. The Masa rooftop restaurant is a gem. Very comfortable environment with great views, service, food and drinks. Highly recommend the lemoncello spritz. We would definitely start here again.
We liked the location the most. It is right near the heart of central Rome. For example, the Coliseum is about a 10-15 minute walk away. Lots of places to eat and grab souvenirs or drinks, etc..the room was nice as well. The rooftop has a great view. But the small basic Italian breakfast is a huge ripoff at 25 euros each. So I paid 50 euros for a scoop of scrambled eggs, a croissant, a few small pieces of fruit and a juice and coffee for my daughter and I. Of course they are completely taking advantage of you here. The room was pretty overpriced at something like 330 euros as well, without a balcony or a view other than a large window that showed you the back of a direlect building and large rusty AC unit. We found a lot more for less at other hotels in both Rome and Naples.
Loved the hotel and how clean, comfortable and convenient its location is.
The BEST customer service!
Really great
Amazing place! Amazing stay! Highly recommend!
