2 nights in Barrio Alto

The Hotel is Beautiful. The location is excellent and the Suite we had was extremely well appointed and comfortable. While we had a Hot water issue in the Bath, the MGMT. Came up with a solution to allow us to use a vacant room. The rooftop restaurant spot is Glorious. If you are choosing a top shelf boutique hotel in a charming Lisbon neighborhood, the Lumiares is it. The staff is a bit green, but go out of their way to please. A bit noisy on the streets below, but the room can button up nicely.

Location is perfect, almost everything is in walkable distance. Service is great, I would definitely recommend staying in this hotel.

This hotel has a great location and is near everything. It can get busy in the area over the weekend but the windows are two double panes so no sound gets in. The door is double as well so very little sound gets in from the hallway. The breakfast is very good and worth it. The staff at breakfast and front desk are very helpful. Definitely worth staying there and we would stay there again. We had a two bedroom which has two bathrooms which is very convenient with kids.

Hotel had amazing service and was very convenient to everything. Room was great.

We had a 2 bedroom suite and it was PERFECT! The wooden interior shutters were awesome and really helped keep the noise from the street out.

Love The Lumiares!!

We booked The Lumiares well in advance and so glad we did since top tier Lisbon hotels are hard to get. Though we did not get a high floor unit as requested, street noise was not a problem and our one bedroom apartment was spacious, well laid out and exceedingly clean. The river view from the rooftop restaurant & bar is exceptional especially at sunset. We will definitely return!

We would stay here again

We booked the Mezzanine room and were pleasantly surprised by the space and layout of the room. We could host friends for drinks in the lounge downstairs and have our privacy in the bedroom upstairs. The staff are super helpful, courteous and simply amazing - everyone from front desk to housekeeping was just lovely! The only reason I have rated the facilities as average is because the gym is just too tiny. And I like working out even on holiday. The rooftop is small and gets very busy but the view is worth at least 1 visit. Overall, the hotel is superb and the location is simply too good. If I ever go back to Lisbon, I'm definitely staying here again.

Ho soggiornato in una suite con una camera per una settimana. L’hotel è in un palazzo antico interamente ammodernato e ristrutturato secondo un gusto contemporaneo. La camera era un po’ piccola, come il bagno, e buia, trovandosi solo al primo piano. Molto limitato anche lo spazio dell’armadio. Ottima la colazione al ristorante del rooftop. Cura e attenzione al design degli interni e pulitissimo.

This hotel was spectacular!!! Staff were wonderful!! Very accommodating!!! Parking….you will need to pay and it won’t be easy to drive around this hotel, the streets are super narrow and it looks scary hahaha but the streets were meant for walking since we can walk to so many places. Hire someone to pick you up through the hotel and it’s very convenient. Night life, amazing food!! And daytime days filled with lots of walking up the hills hahah wear comfy shoes and a big appetite. Roof top restaurant and bar, amazing, views, and more views!!! Loved this place and I have stayed at super luxurious places, this one was very special for sure!!! Thank you everyone, we really appreciated everyone there!!!

Clean and exceptional service

Great stay at “Lumi”! Beautiful property. Very spacious, fully updated room. Staff was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Getting to property a little tricky as you need to access ally and use password to lower ballard (post). Hotel advance communication to assist was helpful in navigating our way. Highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel accommodations were phenomenal. We booked a two bedroom suite which was perfectly decorated and had everything we needed for our five night stay. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The food was delicious and the rooftop dining experience was exquisite. I would highly recommend this hotel for the aforementioned reasons as well as the perfect location.

Beautiful hotel…modern and super clean…with a terrific rooftop restaurant where you can enjoy panoramic city views.

The propert was overall great the showers are way to small an I had some injuries in the shower. An don’t take the advice of the hotel to use their taxis it’s way to expensive and an Uber would take you to the back of the hotel with ease and it’s just as easy access as the front of the hotel

Amazing stay! The rooftop bar and restaurant was absolutely delicious! Staff was extremely helpful and nice. They left small little surprises for us throughout our stay and made sure we had plenty of bottled water!

Completely amazing experience! We went in August (I'm late posting). The hotel is beautiful and super clean. The staff is exceptional and made our stay perfect. They gave us perfect recommendations based on our requests. It actually felt like we were family and made sure no detail was too small. The room was great, spa day was perfect as was the trip. Two bedroom apartment was perfect for my family. Hotel & room were impeccably clean. Service was excellent. Restaurant catered to our dietary needs (celiac/gluten free). Hotel was also beautiful and in walking distance to restaurants/shopping.

Excellent location, spacious room with complementary drinks, rooftop lounge with great view! This was a vibrant part of town with good food, shopping, parks, etc. We would definitely stay here again.

Pleasant accommodations with great location and friendly/helpful staff

BAD SERVICE!! It is not worth it at all. Service at the restaurant/terrace is AWFUL!! The reception/concierge is USELESS!! Why would you stay at “5 star” hotel with poor service and amenities? There are plenty of hotels nearby who offer better service!! If you don’t mind waiting for a drink 30 minutes or relying on the front desk for taxis to take you to the airport or train station that never arrive (adding you extra stress), then this is a place to stay. And oh by the way, don't go to the lobby bathroom, there is no toilet paper!! It is really not worth paying the 5-star fees for poor service!

Great Hotel!

Great hotel in the heart of Barrio Alto. All the rooms are apartment style with a living room and small kitchenette so they are very spacious. Staff was very helpful. If you’re driving it’s a bit tricky since the neighborhood is closed off so if you can avoid it so so. One thing to note is that the Barrio Alto neighborhood gets very busy and loud at night due to all the bars in the area. However the rooms are very well insulated and the noise is not a issue. Would definitely recommend staying here if you want to be close to the nightlife.

Beautiful design, good restaurant and pleasant staff. Terrible location with bars and restaurants with outdoor seeting under the room windows. Partying and noise until 3am at least everynight! Also, very dark other then if you are on the top floor.

Amazing location with incredible service!

Great Location

We stayed here for eight nights. For us, this was the perfect location. We could easily walk everywhere or catch some form of public transportation. The rooms are small but very well designed. Breakfast was just right to get the day started and always offered fresh fruit.

Nice hotel but not for vegans

Hotel itself is beautiful and comfortable - right in the middle of Lisbon. Unfortunately they dont cater for vegans - they inly have avocado on toast and they expected us to pay £30pp per day for breakfast and havent refunded it yet. Unfortunately due to this we didnt extend our stay at the hotel. Complete rip off.

This is a fantastic hotel and excellent location in Lisbon. It has such a premium vibe and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The room was perfectly set-up, clean and spacious. The rooftop bar also has excellent views and a really nice atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again!

This property was amazing from the moment we were greeted at the door on a rainy late arrival. Greeted with an umbrella and both people behind the desk, stood up. That was consistent during our stay. We booked the two room apartment and was not disappointed. The food was amazing at the restaurant and the women chef (didn’t get her name) meticulously crafted our meals and added the most beautiful garnishes before sending our plates to us. We enjoyed an afternoon cocktail too which was a seasonal drink that was 8 euro but worth 100. The staff In the restaurant was beyond kind and was attentive to any need or ask. We even all hugged when we left. I’d highly recommend this hotel and hope to return again soon.

Perfect place in Lisbon

This place is great, and the staff is fun and wonderful. It is perfectly located and the restaurant on the roof is exceptional.

Disappointing for the price.

We splurged on this hotel for the last night of our honeymoon, and we were a bit disappointed to be honest. They contacted me on WhatsApp to ask if we required airport pick-up. What a personal touch, I thought, only to find out, after inquiring, that they charge 25-35 euros for this service (we took an Uber for 10 euro). When we arrived, there was no staff to handle our luggage (even the hostel we stayed at offered to help with luggage). We were given our room cards but no directions to our room (which was confusing and we ended up back at the front desk for clarification). We got into our room and it was dark. Light switches did not work. So I tried calling the front desk, and it just rang and rang. Once again, I went to the front desk. Someone came up to show us how we had to insert our room cards into a slot to enable the lights. She then proceeded to walk all around the room, giving me a tour I didn't require and it felt invasive, as my wife was in bed napping. The shower nozzle was also impossible to figure out. The shampoo dispenser was aggravating, and the shower door dragged on the floor. Everything just seemed needlessly complicated and frustrating after a tiring day of travel. I will say the bed was very comfortable, and the TV was excellent. The roof top staff were great (delicious free cocktails) and room service was also very good. Location was great. Complimentary mini-bar also a nice touch. But I expected more from a hotel of this calibre and price.

Incredible service, attention to detail and positivity throughout the entire establishment. Everything is done so professionally and all the amenities are state of the art. The rooms are incredible and everything is so well thought out. I’ll be back soon!

Well maintained, lots of free extras, extremely helpful staff

Beautiful views.

This place has a key location and we enjoyed it. Overal Sintra is a bit provincial and we felt it as people of color. But this place was kind and the location is to die for. Plush slippers. The shampoo was from Castel ..I would recommend Claus Porto instead. Carlos was the best and most genuine.

Love this hotel in Lisbon! Great location. The rooms are huge it’s almost like having your own condo. It’s a great splurge and well worth it. The views and food at the rooftop restaurant are amazing. It was one of the best meals I’ve had in Lisbon. The staff were so friendly. I arrived early and they told me where all the shopping was. There is also a whatsapp contact number so you can text throughout the day and get them to make reservations for you or ask for general help when visiting. Further when I officially checked in I was given 2 welcome drinks and was surprised to learn the mini bar was complimentary. Overall this hotel is great and very comfortable! It is also in a happening neighbourhood and the staff gives recommendations on good places to go out as well! This was a very pleasant stay!

Great modern serviced apartment

Really nice and modern serviced apartment. It's in a good area of Lisbon to be in although on a busy and noisy street (with trams). Reception staff was very helpful and friendly.

This hotel is in a great location. It's central and walking distance to all the happening restaurants and different squares. The staff are wonderful...very warm and helpful. We would definitely stay again, and recommend to all going to Lisboa.

Nice stay

The hotel itself was very nice, new and well kept. We loved how our room was apartment style with a separate living room, kitchenette and Smeg appliances! They were very generous with the free drinks in the fridge, like water, beer and wine! The fitness room was small. Service could be a bit better. I asked the concierge to help us with a restaurant reservation and they never followed up with me until I asked them about it. One night, the front desk called our room at around 10:20 pm asking for feedbacks about the stay. Really? At 10:20 pm?? The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to a lot points of interest. It is also located on the street where college students come out to party at night, so it can get quite loud during night time. I would still recommend this hotel though.

5 stat quality with apartment accommodations. The staff was excellent, knowledgeable, customer oriented and very helpful. The rooms were nicely appointed and the layout was well thought out. The location and views from the restaurant (roof deck) were amazing.

Wonderful stay.

We love the Lumiares Hotel and Spa. From the moment we checked into our room, we are sorry that we couldn't stay longer to enjoy the comfort and amenities of the room. Staff service was great as they assisted me in confirming with a local store for a particular product that I was looking for. Multiple TVs in the room with English channels to ensure that we can also get to relax with our own channels during our rest time. High-end appliances decorates the apartments. Breakfast and dinner quality was good at both food outlets - Mercado Café and Lumi Rooftop is top-rated. Hotel transfers from and to the airport service is convenient as well. By staying at the Lumiares Hotel and Spa, it is a great closure to our Portugal trip in 2019. For sure the next time we come back to Portugal, Lumiares will be our first choice!

Super stay

Amazing stay, surpassed all expectations. Super posh boutique hotel in the heart of the Barrio alto area. One of the stops for the hop on hop off bus (redline) is very close to the hotel also (note the stop is actually #3 on the map, as the tour map is outdated and #2 doesn’t make a stop). A bit daunting to navigate the narrow streets if driving, but very convenient parking just next to the hotel. Very much recommended!

Nice stay, Pretty rooftop but must pay to use!

Nice modern hotel with a comfortable bed and convenient kitchenette in a central location with pleasant staff and a small gym. lighting in room was dark, and lighting in bathroom was very dark, and usb ports didn´t work ‘’ needs a little attention from a good electrician maybe... Roof top bar is beautiful. We were under the impression that it was lovely outdoor space that came with the price of a room, but you must order a drink or food to sit out there. There are a few little tables and chairs outside the lobby area on the ground level to enjoy being outside, but no view. We ate dinner on the roof our first night ... gorgeous view but staff was completely taken aback by my being celiac and needing dietary restrictions accommodated. I found two tiny dishes on their menu that would work after involving several different employees ‘ tasty but pricey and very small portions. I would not ever eat in the restaurant again. The hotel itself was perfectly nice and comfortable .. no complaints other than dim lighting in bathroom and plugs not working.

Absolute gem

Amazing. Everything was so good and blew our expectations out of the water. The only thing I would caution is that for people not confident with driving, and renting a car, the process of navigating VERY narrow streets can be a bit daunting... but the hotel itself was excellent in every way!

Great hotel ! One of the best locations you could get and very impressive service ! Only tiny issue - Friday and Saturday nights when everyone was out partying, it was disturbing in one of the rooms.

1 night in Lisbon

Mine was a business trip and the hotel provided the perfect escape from the stress of work. Great location, wonderful room and an excellent rooftop restaurant. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Excellent location!

Pro: The hotel was fantastic, very well located, friendly and helpful staff, good amenities, very clean, spacious rooms! Cons: The only bad thing is the breakfast - the restaurant staff lacks knowledge of the menu, they are very slow and the cooked breakfast (eggs, bacon, etc) is horrendous, greasy, and lack of flavour.

Great apartment/suite in Barrio Alto.

The apartment worked great for our 1 week stay. The kitchen was fully equipped. Convenient to everything we wanted to do (3 of the tours we took happened to meet outside of the Hard Rock, which was only a 5 minute walk. The staff was excellent, very attentive and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Overall an excellent stay

The hotel itself is very modern and new, with cool decor. The room was large, clean and comfortable. We also enjoyed the hotel’s map of things to do in the area— it was very useful. The bath products were fantastic. Our only issue was checking out took longer than we had hoped (we were trying to get to the airport) because only one person was at the front desk and they were helping someone with a rather time consuming wire transfer situation.

Pros & Cons

The rooms / location / spa services were fantastic. However, breakfast was extremely slow our 1st day. Not the best way to start your vacation. They definitely need more waiters in the morning. The rooms are extremely comfortable and they have interesting configurations to choose from a bonus for our party of 10. It accommodates all of our preferences. Make sure you have the ability to cancel no matter what, because customer service & flexibility seems to be a foreign concept. One of our friends were told they did not have a reservation so they booked again only to be told they would need to pay for 2 rooms upon arrival. Conveniently outside the cancellation window.

This is a beautiful apartment hotel with a full service spa in a very trendy part of Lisbon. The studios have kitchens, a small seating area and lovely bedroom. The bathroom is fine, not huge. The hotel has a great rooftop restaurant/bar where a lovely breakfast is served. The staff tries its best although occasionally appeared overwhelmed.

We had stayed in Lisbon a week earlier at a different hotel. We ended up at this one for our final night. We wished we had stayed at this one the entire trip! The hotel was wonderful. The room in great condition. The service was great. The added complimentary drinks to our fridge and we received 2 drinks from the rooftop bar.

Everything about this hotel was perfect. Don’t be deterred by the roudy Barro Alto at night. The hotel is beautiful, newly designed and renovated and very quiet. The location is also surprisingly great, literally across the street from a fun park with amazing city views and walking distance to great neighborhoods in any direction. Staff were extremely friendly and efficient. We’ll be back!!
