Location was a great 10 min walk from train station. Very clean - tight space for 4 Unfortunately no hot water at 8 am for the shower though.

Great location

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay here. It’s in a great location and our room and kitchenette was well equipped. The only info I would share for others is that an eye mask and ear plugs are 100% essential! The hallway light remains on full and a lot of light came in under the door and window blinds. We had a floor 1 room and people were constantly slamming the front door at all hours, chatting loudly to each other all the way to their rooms and the stairs are concrete so quite loud. Without the earplugs they kindly supplied we wouldn’t have had much sleep.

One level up from a hostel. Did not get check in email until requested. No cards to register at from door/lobby (person on staff had ONE job) leaving us and multiple other guests unable to access our rooms. Phone lock never worked. Location was great right in the middle of town and less than a 15 min walk to train station. Room was as promised.

Easy City Living Vibes

Staying at the Lubo was so fun. Felt homey with spacious rooms and kitchen amenities. The location was perfect for us with the ability to walk almost everywhere we went.

Great hotel

Disappointing experience. Very noisy so sleep was constantly disturbed. Everything seems to echo in the hotel. The walls are thin. The layout and construction of the hotel is conducive to amplifying noise. Noise from other guests in their rooms (scraping furniture, flushing toilets etc) doors slamming, the street, and from hotel hallways etc made it a poor stay. Lack of staff or any form of presence from the hotel seems to encourage poor behaviour from other guests. Loads of random people hanging around the entrance to the hotel and there seemed to be people running up and down the stairs and floors at all hours. Honestly not a light sleeper but there was something about the noise during this stay that put me off. Rest of room was ok. No water included in room. No clear check out instructions - turns out you just chuck your card in a box. I get the self check in but leaving a sign on your bed that reads "Cancel your cleaning" makes the hotel appear that its trying to do everything cheaply. Cancel was the first word I read so negative connontations.

The apartment was very nice and the location was great! We could not get the internet to work and to try to access the WiFi, I had to agree to a lot of snooping and marketing crap! After I agreed, the WiFi still didn’t work! Seemed like an unnecessary scam.

Best location! The Lubo was near the Chapel Bridge and <10 min walk from the station, however if you are travelling with luggage you many need to carry up and down the flight of stairs near the Chapel Bridge if you don't want to take a detour. You are right in the old town surrounded by main attractions and shops yet the hotel is tucked away in a quiet area. Check-in/out process is all digitised via the phone with key passes to the building directly accessible via the phone. The digital key pass to our room did not work so we obtained physical passes from the tablet at the main entrance. Lift access is available at the side alley which is needed for luggages, albeit a bit tiny. The room was modern, however tiny which every space utilised. Facilities is lacking with no bar fridge or in room kettle but our room had 4 safes...The bathroom is small, in particular the shower and the shower screen does not completely close. Overall a good stay for 1 or 2 nights if you only need a place to sleep.

Great location. Property is well maintained. Could use more washers and driers. Also, the driers take twice as long as your at home driers, so plan for a few extra HOURS if you use them.

It is not worth to try self-check in which there is no staff to help you. We arrived early, was not able to check in. The machine did not tell you why. We could not ask for store luggage. We had to walk back the train station to store luggage. If you are new to this city and not familiar self-check in, don't try it. The toilet got clog, I emailed info@..., then they came to fixed.

Avoid like the plague! Check in was a disaster. Kiosk not working at all. Try to call for help - gives zero direction, other than to “wait while we try and reset it remotely” as 4 parties all waiting in a tiny walk in spot. Everything was overly digital - everything on phone - but oh when their wi-if kept crashing phone was worthless! Their “convenience” bar machine for snacks, water etc etc - worked one time in 3 days. Called them - oh we will look at it, and never worked the next two days. Zero follow up from them Washers - HORRIBLE leave your clothes sopping wet and basically could not dry them in 4 hours of trying before we had to get on a plane with wet clothes. All great to think you can rely on technology - but try having service and a reliable person to come help. Bathroom sinks had no mirror - you had to turn sideways to see the wall mirror on your left to try and shave or wash - with lighting not placed in the room to see yourself. Can make it look hip and cool all you want in the photos - but get a real hotel with people, and staff. You will pay the same price and get far better. AT YOUR OWN RISK

Had a positive experience with the self-check-in process, which was smooth and convenient. The staff along with Expedia customer service went above and beyond by assisting me with a booking mistake I made over email communication, which I greatly appreciated. They charge extra 50 per person for the kids to stay in family room that has a sofa bed which didn’t make much sense. The location is unbeatable, and I would definitely choose to stay here again.

Fantastic location, good multi-occupancy room layout (very compact for top bunks in 4 person room but not in there long).

This hotel is in the perfect location! It was a comfortable space and we really loved having the room key on our phones. We would highly recommend staying here!

Great location. Clean. Free espresso 24/7 in the “laundry room” where you can use washers and dryers for a fee. You can store your luggage if you arrive before check in. Elevator and AC, comfortable bed and room with kitchenette was a reasonable size. Not fancy, but would definitely stay here again.

I booked this room for a family of 4 with 2 teenagers. The bunk bed was a huge challenge to get in and out off. There was very little space for a 16 year old to access it. Otherwise the property was very clean and in a great location.

Waste of money

AC did not work, nor were they able to fix it. Failed to call back for updates so had to take initiative myself. when Ac Did work, the unit made a constant humming noise every 5 minutes .

We stayed in a room with kitchenette which was perfect for our needs as a family of four. Great to be in the heart of the Old Town in Luzern. Hostel provided many shared amenities like laundry and coffee area which was a great help.

Excellent location close to train station and in middle of old town area. Check in very confusing. Needed a reservation number that was never sent (perhaps because I had selected to pay at property?). Had to call and whoever answered was very helpful. Laundry was busy but very new machines and worked well. Would stay again.

We stayed in the 4 person family room. My teens were a little tall for the bunk beds but it was fun for them anyway. The room was so cute. We had no problems with the self check in. The instructions were easy to follow.

Good location in the centre of the old town. Enjoyed the proximity to food and drink options and Lucerne sights. However we had a number of problems. Mattress was comfortable but bed linen was not - was somewhat rough in texture. We had a room with a kitchenette which was great in concept but sparsely equipped, for example there was no way to boil water except in a large pot from which it was dangerous to pour boiling water; there was no dishwashing liquid or drying cloth provided. Separate shower and toilet rooms were painted black and dark green with very poor lighting so were claustrophobic and depressing. We had no hot water for the first 12 hours, which turned out to be a hotel-wide issue, and on several occasions the main hotel door would not unlock with the key cards, yet we had no communications from the hotel about these issues. The hotel website and internal notices said that the WeWash app was required to use the laundry facilities but this wasn’t the case.

You’ll love this place!

This property was amazing! Comfortable, clean, friendly, very helpful when we had trouble using the self check in and when we asked to stay an extra night, they were able to accommodate us. We loved the property and the location.

The overall checkin process was fine even though it is self check. The rooms for our family were excellent and the ladies who worked the restaurant were terrific and helpful.

Main door not working….

This hotel is very well located and easy to access. The room was clean. For those that look to have the amentiies such as a coffee maker and small items in the bathroom, they are lacking. The room has a small kitchenette which was a nice surprise. However, the location and cleanliness of the room surpassed the smaller things.

Would not recommend. The room not feel clean and smells. Actually the stairs and corridors of the hotel also smell.

The room itself was fine. Accessing the facility can be a little challenging for first timers. We had issues with the air conditioner, not blowing cold air. I reported it via the app, but they were unable to fix it until after we had already checked out. There is no on-site staff which can be challenging.

Ok- they overbooked there hotel, which I was not happy with but they made me reservations with a different hotel. I was thankful for this until I got to the hotel the rebooked me into. It was nowhere equivalent to their hotel, therefore I asked for the difference between the rates of the rooms be reimbursed to me. After 3 weeks, I have never received a response. I was not asking for a full refund, just the difference.

No linen/pillows and Loud laundry room

There were no linen or pillows placed on our bed when my husband and I got to the property and the laundry room was noisy with other guests using it until past midnight and being loud. They gave us another room with linen and in a more quiet location but it was inconvenient not having anyone onsite to help us out.

Our stay was fine, loved the restaurant, loved the location, but I absolutely hated the check-in process. We were stressed and the last thing we wanted was to stay. There and enter our info for 10 min while we were running late for something else. I wish they had a person to check us in or an easier method.

Easy to find and check in to. Thin walls and thin doors so you can hear all the noises. No body wash in the bathroom, only shampoo.

The 3rd Floor room we stayed in Lubo was super-small with 2 bunk beds and 1 queen bed squeezed into a small room. We are a family of 4 with 2 children, one a teenager. We would easily bump into each other when we walk around the room. There's no water or kitchen in the room itself. But there's a pantry washing room in Ground floor where you can grab coffee from. We had great difficulty check-in using the automated system as the system did not allow us to submit with all information. In the end, one of the guys from the Rokka hotel helped us and 3 other customers to check-in as all of us were stuck. Hotel should think about revamping their self-check-in system as most feedback seems to be around the same. One of the days we stayed, the coffee cups ran out. But there were no one to replace. The Rokka hotel staff we approached wasn't helpful either. Although the hotel is only about 700 meters away from Train station, it's not easy to roll your heavy suitcases to the hotel from train station as the road is gravel and you need to climb stairs at a certain point. I would recommend taking an Uber to the hotel instead if you carry heavy luggages. Best thing about the hotel is the locality as it is in Lucerne Old Town. The rustic neighbourhood is one to pay for. Also, the free Washing/Drying machines in the Ground floor is a major plus.

Everything went well

Centrally located. Our room was small for 4 people, but was happy to be centrally located to the old town Luzern. The two bunks were actually comfortable for teenage adults. The sheets were super comfy and the pillows were fluffy. Not a hostel Very easy self check-in. Just follow the instructions on the iPad kiosk. Even getting the room keys were simple to do on the kiosk. Safe location. Actually quiet as walls were concrete with nice faux marble texture. Doors let some sound in but very secure steel doors. Hughly recommend if you need something close but don’t mind the cozy space.

Modern Hotel in the Old City

Great location! Only a 10 to 15-minute walk from the train station. Right in the heart of the old city (which is where you want to be to see all the sights), We were able to wake up and have coffee and breakfast in the little cafe right downstairs and then walk everywhere. The bridge, lion, and wall are all very close. This is a modern hotel and you will need to check yourself in which isn't too difficult but just be prepared. Low chance of an early check-in with this system. They had free laundry facilities, luggage storage, and the place was very nice. I would stay here again for sure.

The property was very clean, convenient, and in a great location in Lucerne. The laundry room should be updated as the dryers take more than 4 hours to dry each load, delaying us heavily on our departure as we had to wait for others to finish up.

We had some difficulties with self checkin & get the room key. After calling the receptionist, we sorted out. Also it would be useful to let people know that the lift is at side entrance side. That will save people to take their heavy cases to first floor from the main entrance. Other than that, all went well

Good location

We had a great four night stay at the Lubo! The room was clean and very well maintained and we had a gorgeous view of the town and the mountains in the distance. The free laundry facilities and coffee and tea were excellent! There are many shops and restaurants near by and walking around was perfect! We would absolutely recommend the Lubo to anyone and would stay again!

Very well situated in the old town. Bit confusing inside as in many levels and although lift available there are still stairs on several levels to reach rooms. There was no kettle or microwave available. The hot drink facility was down two floors in communal kitchen with boiling water tap, which was okay but a room kettle is preferable, especially as the British like their cups of tea! Room a good size, nice toiletries. No washing up liquid or tea towels. Dishwasher only and minimal crockery/ cutlery if self catering.

I did not receive an email to check in, luckily a girl at the attached bar was kind enough to help me. It would have been incredibly inconvenient had we arrived one hour later when the bar was closed.

We loved our stay that the Lubo! It’s in a great location and very convenient for shopping and food! The cafe below was also amazing. Even though the Lubo is a self check in, it was very easy to get in contact with staff and get any problems sorted. We stayed in the double room and it was very spacious and came with anything you would need for an easy stay. It was very clean and the property is newly renovated and looks great. Would recommend and will be staying if we come back!

Overall, I am not sure I would stay again - the self check-in was OK, however as someone mentioned in another review, the property is weird with a lot of stairs, which with luggage was very annoying! I checked in and the room was not as described so I had to email to ask them to help, finally I had to check in again to get my new room. I purchased food to cook in the room and the hot plates were not working which was very frustrating. The laundry room was a major bonus for me.

When we first arrived we had an issue with our room however it was quickly sorted. No staff on site however they are super responsive to email. Bathroom is updated. Hotel is clean. Laundry services on site - huge bonus!!

What a gem in the heart of Lucerne. Surrounded by beauty and history, this quaint hotel fit the bill. Easy to check in and out, walkable to everything you’d want to see or do, and a great value. Highly recommend.

The check in process is easy unless a glitch happens (glitch happened to our friends who we are traveling with). The stairs (3-4 steps) going up to where the elevator is and few more stairs going up to the room makes it difficult if you have big, heavy luggages. The room space is great! The kitchenette is great! We were able to cook dinner some nights to save money from the expensive restaurants in Lucerne. The only thing I don’t like is having only 2 pillows(1 each twin bed) and the pillow is so thin and soggy. Otherwise, bed and blanket is comfortable.

Excellent -would thoroughly recommend

Check in was not as easy as they claim. Our safe was already locked upon arrival. Emailed front desk to have it fixed and was told housekeeper would come bynand check. Unfortunately we never even got housekeeping much less a house keeper to fix the safe.

Paid extra for the kitchenette and the stove tops didn’t work, employees had no idea how to get them to work either. A/C unit would make an ungodly noise every 5 minutes making it impossible to sleep with it on.

3.5/5 - Easy enough to find. The self check-in is fine. The room was fine. Room service was okay. They changed towels but did not change sheets and we were there one week. The only issue and it’s the reason for a lower review is that it’s rather noisy. You could hear everyone banging their luggage in the hall every morning as they went up and down the stairs. You can hear voices all the time. If you’re a light sleeper you’ll be frustrated. Other than noise, it was pretty good.

I really liked the amenities and our room. We are a family of 4 adults that stayed in the “dormitory “ style room—it had one double bed and two bunks. Each bed was really comfy, though the bunks had very low clearance so they are not good for claustrophobic types or really tall people. Each bed had ports to charge phones And other devices, which was great! The room was well laid out for the small space and we fit in it. The TV included English language options which we really appreciated. We also appreciated the laundry facilities on site. I’m not a fan of contact-less, virtual check-ins, but luckily the adjoining cafe staff helped us check in (I never got the email explaining the process). The location in the old city was perfect with lots of charming places within Walking distance (including the train station).

Great location, good painless check in.

The Luba was excellent for our stay with spacious rooms and a very quick walk from all of the dining and river views that Lucerne has to offer. The keyless entry and self checkin were convenient and there was a community room with digital laid laundry and free coffee plus a vending machine with drinks and snacks.

Great location!

Comfortable room. Very very thankful for the AC unit in the room. It kept us cool at night and also I love the "white noise" it created. Our private bathroom ended up being across the hall from our room, but it was just for our use, so it worked out just fine. (that's the first time I've experienced that) The coffee shop off the lobby is nice and we enjoyed breakfast there one morning.

Good value and unbeatable location

Loved the chic interiors and the technological forwardness of the Lubo. The laundry area for us was a welcome plus and the cafe downstairs is modern and nice. The rooms were clean and well furnished.

I didn’t expect when I booked the Room with a prívate bathroom to be given a Room with a bathroom on the hallway, not connected to the Room at all! Also, air conditioner was a portable unit, had to leave the windows open to let the exhaust hose outside. Another thing, I left my luggage in a storage they offered that was on a common hallway, unsupervised and it was left open for every one to use. And then I tried calling the number on the website for help with an issue, they said they were attending other calls and would call me back in 15 minutes, but never did. I would not recommend this hotel only except for the location and that is nicely remodeled.

Lubo hotel was a good hotel, a clean room and organized staff. The key concern was the room size, it was very small and very limited in space.

Problematic check-in

The property was very nice and clean. Good location. However, the self check-in was a huge problem. The machine did not work and the online check-in also malfunctioned. There were lots of people waiting to check in. Took forever to reach someone on the phone. The waiter at the bar next door ended up giving everyone universal keycards, which made us feel uneasy about security.
