The air quality inside the room is not good
Not up to the expectation of a 5-star hotel. Staff were not friendly; reception did not mention about inclusive breakfast. When asked for direction, said she was not local and don’t know the area. Car park valet bluntly responded with no idea where the location is. Totally unhelpful and not proactive.
Nice place
The room was spacious and it was allocated on high floor where the view overlooking the surrounding area was satisfied.
Great service
Excellent service and high hygiene standards
I often visit Shanghai, this hotel is close to the airport and the Center, so its very easy to move around the city.
excellent service. The only improvement: It is hard to adjust temperature on heating.
The hotel was very nice and it had all that I needed for my stay. However, the room got very warm due to climate control issues with the HVAC system.
Great value!
Great value for room. Great location as well
Good hotel to stay when in Shanghai
My choice every time when visit Shanghai! No problem to recommended to anyone!
Nice hotel
Nice hotel, good breakfast, clean tidy room, only 1 non-news channel in English. WiFi annoying as you constantly have to keep logging in. Taxi’s are not easy to get, can be long wait.
Could’ve been better
The first room smelled of smoke and was too hot. The second room had a moldy shower.
Having just arrived I was unaware of the exchange rate and was scammed by the massage staff paying $750 for a massage - outrageous.
A very comfortable hotel. Clean rooms and helpful, pleasant staff. The room was somewhat style over substance, with fancy lighting, but light switches not always in the right place. The restaurants served good food but were a bit expensive.
I did not like the Cantonese restaurant as much as I would have liked to. Very difficult to get order , since none of staff spoke English.
ok, just ok
Reception people all by the book, no friendliness.... my reservation I paid $12 more for breakfast but on my booking order did not ay 'includes breakfast' so refused to give me
Poor layout and traffic
The bed condition is old and not good for sleeping, entire hotel look good but look into details is poor.
Beautiful hotel in a great location. I would most certainly stay again.
Great staff, beautiful hotel, amazing pool! We had a veery comfortable stay and they even upgraded us to a high room floor and larger bedroom. 5 out of 5 stars.
Family Time
Room was very clean. Staff was very friendly.
No room ready at checkin
My second time at the hotel. Had a good impression the first time. It's clean and comfy, rooms are beautiful. A little outdated (no plugs right next to bed, etc). But shocked that this time, my guest could not check in when they arrived. Front desk told them no rooms were ready (at close to 4pm, way after check in time of 2pm!). Told her to go to the cafe to have some food, which was closed, and didn't offer anything else beyond that. Super horrible and completely embarrassed by this incident. Will probably pass next time.
Pleasant business hotel
Nice hotel with good quality rooms. I was given a free upgrade :) Not the best location for a tourist but fine for business travel. Not always easy to get a taxi though. Helpful staff.
Excellent hotel for business or personal
Very nice hotel. Excellent selection of food and drinks available throughout the day. Breakfast has large selection of Chinese and western dishes. The exercise and pool facilities are spacious and well maintained.
I asked for a non-smoking room. They gave one to me smelled like an astray. Air conditioning was poor. Cannot set it lower than 23 Celsius or 73.4 Fahrenheit
Good hotel for SH
Good location, EZ access to anywhere in Shanghai. Nice and clean hotel.
- The staff does not respect the "Do Not Disturb" at all - Cigarette butts in the elevator - Terrible music the lobby
Business Trip
Room was very clean. Staff was very friendly.
Longemont is an upscale hotel in a nice area of Shanghai, on the outskirts of the French Concession. Convenient to the #71 bus line which zips you to the Bund or to connections on the metro.
Spacious, clean, comfortable
Great room with wonderful views of the city. The hotel is in spotless condition and the service is great. The room can get a little warm in the morning when the sun is shining.
Hot water has a weird smell, bad cleaning
when I was taking a shower the first day I notice a weird smell from the hot water, which was really strange because it is the first time I notice water has a smell, I though it could be the pipes, so I let it run for a few minutes, it didn't help, the smell of the water stayed the same for the next 3 days of my stay. When I left to my next destination I notice itch and hurt a little on my head. Daily house keeping job wasn't done properly, I knew there was stain left by me eating on the bed, when I return at night after a long day of meetings, my bed was made but the stains on the comforter was still there, I didn't really care that much because I thought, hey that could be good for the environment too right? But the third day, I started sneezing nonstop in the morning until I left the room, I bumped into the housekeeping lady and asked her to deeply clean the room. Food at the second floor Chinese restaurant was pretty good, but in the lobby not so much, onion soup and beef soup all tasted like can soup, sandwich taste worst than prepacked supermarket sandwich, but everything was all hotel standard pricing.
2 day trip to Shanghai...
I was in Shanghai for just two nights. A friend had booked this hotel for me. I found the room accommodations to be good. My room was clean and of good size, it was located on the 42nd floor, so I had a wonderful view of the city. I also had the complimentary meal. The buffet was okay, and had a fair amount of variety. Location of the hotel was also fair, I found there was really nothing within walking distance, and I had to cab everywhere. One of the concierge was extremely helpful, and even let me use his Uber when taxis were not available (that was very nice). There were only two minor issues. The first was that because I was on the 42nd floor, the lifts were a bit slow during high use times. Also, the front desk always seemed to be over taxed, and therefore had a wait. In closing, overall I would stay there again. Especially since I speak no Mandarin and was able to communicate just fine.
Nice Hotel near Points of Interest
The hotel was excellent, the room, food, cleanliness, i loved the Spa, Gym and pool - jacuzzi. The only thing that they have to improve is the WIFI conection in the Lobby, there isn´t any wifi signal, we had it only in the room.
Convenient, clean and comfortable
Clean, comfortable, convenient to conference facilities
Good choice when you are in Shanghai
it's my top choice when I visit shanghai. good location, lots of food choices around the area, clean and good room,..... definitely recommend to anyone
It was a nice stay, the hotel is a little bit outdated and used. One thing what was very un-convenient was the temperature in the room (it was like a sauna) I had to open the window which did not help and nowadays with the pollution it was not ideal.
great place to stay near Panyu Rd.
Everything went well. Extra charge for a child in room is $50 a night, which is not reasonable in my book. Shower didn't drain properly. 3rd towel request needed to be repeated daily. Otherwise, it's top notch!
Great Hotel
I loved this hotel . Location and service is top level. Strongly recommend this to anyone visiting Shanghai
the +Gold member status means nothing at this one
stay this hotel for the convenience of closing to my works and friends. 10 mins walk to the nearby subway system is kind of far even with a light luggage. The hotel staff was nice but just to carry on their job. Despite checked in as +Gold member, nothing was mentioned at check in for the status and not sure if I had the room upgraded as Expedia's Gold member. Hotel was very nice decorated for holidays and Chinese New Year. The stay was pleasant. For those travelers depending on public transportation access, suggest to find a better place.
A Positive Stay
This was my first stay at the Longemont. I was greeted by the doorman upon arrival. He immediately took my bags and directed me to the check in counter. I was warmly welcomed at the reception desk. Check in took just a few minutes. The lobby was beautiful with a stunning Christmas tree on display. I stayed in a club room on the 48th floor. The room was spacious and had a good view. The decor is out-dated along with the furniture. The bed was comfortable for Asia. I had breakfast on the club level. The selection was average but good. I found the staff in the club lounge to be inattentive. The hotel is adjacent to some very nice areas of the French co session. It is about a 20 minute walk to Jin An Temple. Subway is about a ten minute walk. Check out was easy and the staff had a taxi waiting for me to take me to the airport. Overall a good experience.
Great once again
I have stayed here many times. You can't beat the price for the luxury you receive.
bad visit
The hotel is not in a convinient location. The room size was OK but no air conditioning as they had switched it off due to the onset of winters. Room was stuffy n difficult to sleep in. Restaurant had no choice different than the room service. Food was average at Best. Would not stay here again orecommend to anyone. No value for money at 227 had per night.
Review Sep 2014
Positives: 1. Beautiful, clean, smart looking modern business focussed hotel. 2. Stayed in Deluxe room with King bed, excellent city views, quite spacious. 3. Fantastic bathroom with an amazing cylindrical shower. 4. Nice soft bed with very comfortable linen and pillows. 5. Super fast free wireless internet in room. 6. Very good laundry service and room cleaning. 7. Fairly decent food options and choices in the hotel for foreigners. Negatives: 1. Concierge could do with some more training in regards to helpful information for travellers. 2. No mention in room material that there is a higher price for eating in the hotel on Sundays. Tips: 1. Nearest subway station at Jiangsu Rd is 10-15 min walk from hotel. 2. Taxi ride from PVG airport to hotel is approx. 40-60 mins. 3. Small 711 type shop opposite hotel for drinks, snacks etc
comfort hotel. takes 40 minute by taxi from pudong airport.
Great service , great treat by hotel staff .
I travel a lot . This stay at the Longmont was just Outstanding . Will come back for sure . Staff attention was unmatched
Nice hotel, would stay for the third time.
- on 2 occasions my Non-smoking room was filled with my neighbors smoke. People smoke everywhere. Even the elevator. -food is EXTREMELY over priced. By Friday the noodles from Monday are rock hard. Literally. It's a joke with my associate and I each time we stay. -Rooms are clean, but no under sheet. So you'll be sleeping on the last persons skin cells. -Staff is very good, some of the best I've experienced in China. -Feels like the Italian restaurant has a new manager or new chefs this time. Best place in the hotel.
Very good hotel
Very good hotel with very comfortable rooms...I've stayed here a total of 12-15 nights during various trips, and never been disappointed.
Stylish, comfortable hotel
The hotel is very nicely appointed, and I found the rooms to be stylish and the bed to be very comfortable. Fast, reliable, free wifi internet. Staff were very courteous and helpful, as well as fluent in English. There's also a nice gym, swimming pool, and sauna area on the 26th floor that I happily took advantage of more than once. Only slight downside to this hotel is that it's a little bit far from downtown Shanghai and the most popular tourist destinations (the Bund, Xiantiandi, Yu Gardens, etc.). A taxi to the Bund will cost around 35 RMB, which is not expensive, but can take anywhere between 10 to 30 minutes depending how bad traffic is that day.
Very nice hotel centrally located in Shanghai!
It is always great to be at The Longemont. I have been staying there for years now, and I think it is about time the carpeting changed in the rooms. Also, I think the staff at the hotel needs to be a bit more friendly .. over the years I have seen the BIG smile gone away a bit, especially from the 5/6 guys that just stand around in the hotel lobby looking at you like you have done something wrong and NEVER say, "Hello!" I think they are hotel security, but still to have them in visible site, a smile would be nice.
great location, friendly staff
the location is great since it's close to many restaurants some of which open late night. the room layout is good but the couch is not comfortable. view is excellent from the room. staff is very friendly. i have been staying at this location for many times.
Shanghai stay...
That was a nice stay in Shanghai. The hotel looks modern, somehow over-designed but that's ok. Staffs are kind and helpful. The hotel room is good, we've been upgraded to the suite. It is too big, however, and the whole glass window wall in the bath made the bedroom all night cold...gotta turn the heat on max., but that's ok...February in Shanghai is always wet and cold...the bad thing is the traffic, and is impossible to get a taxi in the morning 9AM there...
Best hotel in Shanghai
The Longemont is the greatest hotel in Shanghai, beating many more expensive and supposedly swankier locations. To begin with, the rooms are fantastic with great toiletries, a bathtub, and a spacious room. The location is also underrated - it is a short walk to the French Concession area, and many delicious restaurants (try Lost Heaven - Yunanese cuisine) and there are neat bakeries and local noodle shops on Pingwu St. The best part of the Longemont is the infinity pool and the fitness center. The pool is spacious enough for swimming laps or relaxing in the hot tub, and there are great machines and the space is not heavily used. Please stay here!
Amazing Location!
My place of choice, either you are in Shanghai with your family or just for business ... it is very centrally located and just an amazing facility. Rooms are great, the in house restaurants are wonderful, but I suggest a 15 minutes taxi to Hongmei Lu restaurant/bar district (try Shanghai Brewery there or Big Bamboo) or Xintiandi.
Good hotel, but a bit far from the centre
Just came back from a 3-night stay at Longemont on business. It is not centrally located but rather close to the west side of the city. It is quite near Hongqiao airport but not Pudong airport. (Pudong airport is far from the city anyway.) The hotel is not near any of the metro stations. I think the nearest metro station is Jiangsu station and I used it only once and it took me at least 15 minutes to walk to the hotel along busy roads. It is not near any major sights but there are many taxis available outside the hotel. The room is very spacious. Everything "looks" nice but the quality is not very high. I had a room on the 31st floor. The view is great. Ask for an east-facing room for a great city view. Only problem is the smog can sometimes block the view... The breakfast has a good choice of Chinese and western food. Not excellent but not bad either. Overall I would not recommend it to tourists because of the location, but the room rate and room size are both very good for for what the hotel is.
Every bit as good as Expedia said
This hotel had a top rating and it lived up to it. Everything was perfect. The people were friendly, experienced, and helpful. The room was clean, well designed, and confortable. I have nothing negative to say in any way.
A Perfect Place to Train
I used the Longemont to continue my training. The 30 meter pool was lovely and the gym equipment was extensive and new.
Facilities: Outstanding; Value: Great deal; Service: Outstanding; Cleanliness: Immaculate; Good restaurants on site and close by
Good for woman travelling solo.
First impression, smells good but the perfume could be a problem for allergy sufferers. Aesthetics are smart and glossy and Club service really nice because of the very well spoken staff. The women at the Club Lounge are friendly, helpful and sophisticated. Amazing views and easy walking access to the French Concession area. I felt completely safe and comfortable as a woman travelling solo.
Excellent hotel
Nice hotel. Staff are good. Location is a bit far from the city but otherwise good
very nice a confort hotel
A very nice hotel... wiht a great swiming pool , a great spa and Gym area...beatifull italian restorant and great caffeshop. it has a very confort room.
clean and nice hotel
For business is gd. Leisure, nearest shopping mall needs 10mins to cab there. Cost 15rmb. Not near to metro, requires quite a fair bit of walking to the metro approx. 30mins Nearby gt very nice dong bei food.
Longemont
Always good, but only prefer the club floors Staff English is poor on the whole
Wonderful stay
Rooms were very nice, view on 31st floor was great. Two walls were all windows. Located right off Yan'an, very convenient. Staff were extremely helpful..
The cleanest hotel in Shanghai, I just wish they wouldn't allow smoking....
The staff here is very professional and speaks good english (at front desk), all staff is very helpful and resourceful. The rooms are very clean, and if something is wrong they change immediately, the buffet is sometimes very good and sometimes so so, but never bad, the italian rest. is expensive but good, the snack place at the lobby have a very nice variety of sandwiches, desserts and drinks, is a great choice to take a break from chinese food and if you are not that that hungry this is nice. Taxis are always available by the door , is not that far from most places such as pudong and nanjing, both are at the most 20 minutes away. I como to Shanghai every two months and I keep on coming back to longemont after been through many expensive hotels, such as portman, meridien, jc mandarin, and the jw marriot which is always crowded with prostitutes clients bring in, and by far this hotel is the best and at a so much better rates. There is no comparison, the only thing that bothers me is that they allow smoking in most floors and sometimes the smell comes through the ventilations, not always, but sometimes and I truly HATE smoke smell, but the hotels is really good. Also the laundry service is very good, best always I think the best is the staff, because they understand you and are very attentive to your needs and like I said, if there is anything wrong, they really take care of it. I strongly recommend this hotel, you can't be dissapointed.
Excellent and nice Hotel
This hotel it very beatifull and modern. It has a very comfortable room, a beatifull SPA, and an excellent gym and smining pool located on the 27 flor with an excellent view...It has 3 restaurants, one occidental, and also has a loby bar, and a coffe shop. The hotel is is 15 minutes by car from the honquiao airport , and 15 minutes by car from the nainging road, that it is a famous road...
If you have been to China and need to go back, this is by far the best choice
As most of the hotels in China have very different standards of cleanliness, this hotel is really clean, at least when you go bed your pillows smells like nothing, and that is definetely a relief, not so noisy and hardly see any prostitutes, in comparison with Marriot that is full with them, it is quiet uncomfortable if what you need is to get a good night sleep. The main restaurant is some days good and some so so, the italian restaurant is good but expensive, but the food is good in deed, at the chinese restaurant the service is bad. The laundry service is excelent. The people at the front desk most speak english and the rest of the staff such as concierge and bell boys speak good english and all are pretty smart and resourceful. I think this is by far the best choice for hotel in Shanghai, take this advice from a VERY picky person. Pirces are also very reasonable.I only wish they were more strict about respecting the non-smoking signs, they are everywhere, but nobody seems to care.
Longemont High Quality Hotel
This is an upscale hotel with a consideration for detail and cleaness. New design and new furniture.
OK but be prepared to cab it!
Hotel is nice. The only comment I have is that it is quite a distance to public transportation. Also, not all cabs know how to get there. Apparently the hotel used to be at the location of the current Renaissance Hotel which is about 2 miles away. Make sure you tell the cab it is the one on Yan'an Road otherwise you'll find yourself at the Renaissance.
Longemont
Nice hotel. Good value.
Great hotel for business traveler
This is a great hotel for business travelers. Great service, rooms, amenities and breakfast buffet.
Amazing quaity and affordable hotel for Business
It is a gem not yet know by business travelers but was built to be the top 5 star hotel in Shanghai. Its a great place to eat and stay!
6 blocks from being a convenient location
The location of the hotel was not convenient. Given the bad traffic jams in Shanghai, even 6 blocks makes a difference in commuting time. Taxis are cheap though, so waiting in traffic wasn't so bad. I'd recommend the club upgrade as the lounge was a nice way to start and end the day. No real notable restaurants within walking distance from the hotel, so the club lounge was a welcome sight at the end of a long day. They serve pretty decent wine too.
I'll be back soon.
One of the most worth staying hotels in Shanghai!
Very Nice Hotel, A little bit out of the main city
Very clean and up-market hotel but quite a way from the attractions and financial district. This hotel came recommened by a friend and is said to be much cheaper than the hotels closer to the city but as I haven't stayed there, I cannot compare. It was certainly to a high standard and very comfortable. It's only down side is that it's a good 10 minute taxi ride to the main shopping area and almost 20 to the financial district and the Pearl Tower etc, more at busy times but bear in mind that this taxi ride costs about 30 RMB which equats to about three quid at the moment, it's not too onerous really. It is actually closer to some of the nicer parts of Shanghai such as the French Quarter. Musn't Grumble.
Good Hotel but out of the way location
The hotel is very clean and provides good service. The only issue is that it is out of the way from the major shopping and tourist areas. You will need to take taxi to get around.
excellent value for money
excellent location,friendly service
Delighted with the breakfast and views!
Hotel lobby was lovely and vibrant. There’s a little bar if you wish to have a night cap. Room was lovely with plenty of space. Bathroom was spacious with a big shower and separate bath tub (club suite city view). Pool and gym facilities were great. Breakfast was excellent and staff were wonderful. We would stay again.
Overall, I am satisfied.
I don't have a nearby metro station, so you have to moved about 15 minutes from jiangsulu or jiaotong daxue. However, it is close to Jing an. so the location itself is good for sightseeing. The window of the room itself is large, so it feels good and bright, and the Internet is fast. The breakfast was great, too. I don't want the cleaning staff to come in without a special request. Overall, I am satisfied.
WiFi not good !
