Another lovely stay
Have stayed here several times and have always been made to feel very welcome. The rooms are fabulous as is the food. Would be nice to have glasses in the room for water at night or other cold drinks Parking can be quite difficult as only a very small carpark but it is gated entry that has full CCTV which is good. There is some street parking at limited times
Everything was spot on. All tidy and clean, modern furnishings. Nothing to complain. A very pleasant stay. Only improvement for me personally would be a good a fitted sheet on the bed rather that a flat sheet but a minor detail
The front end staff is really top notch and the restaurant and bar staff is helpful and delightful!
Modern clean and had a good breakfast but found it a little expensive.
Nice hotel
Nice hotel. I left some belongings in my room after I checked out. However, Giorgio was extremely helpful; confirmed that he had my belongings, kept them safe, and kept in contact with me to ensure that the courier collected my things. Thank you Giorgio!
Another nice stay
Another stay at the Lion and Key as we were visiting family nearby. As usual the room was v clean and everything worked . The aircon heated the room up and cooled it down efficiently . The hotels is quiet and while it has a lot of rooms according to the site it has never been busy whenever we have visited .We will v probably stay again as it very convenient for us when we are down seeing family . it is not a touristy bit of London and while I suppose you can get everywhere on public transport I am not sure it would be the best choice for people wanting to see the main sights of London .
Solid hotel in nice area of London
Simple but good standard hotel in a nice area of London
Exceptional customer service
The lady i net at the reception was wlvery friendly and professional, because of her i would come back again and again. Dont know her name, but she was very good ans lind to me and my kids
Straightforward, comfortable hotel in a cool area
Straightforward, comfortable hotel in a cool area of London
From start to finish our stay at The Lion and Key Hotel was amazing. We arrived quite early and the staff worked hard to get our room ready 3 hours early, which was so greatly appreciated after traveling from the US. When the staff learned we had just gotten married, they decorated our room to celebrate, just above and beyond. We spent quite a bit of time in the bar and restaurant on site, the staff, food, and drink was amazing! We will definitely stay again our next trip to London.
Lovely place! Would stay again.
Would stay again
Great host and bar and grill
The staff and service are great, but the location is a bit far from everything.
Spotlessly clean. Great room with a double and a single bed on top floor. All facilities working well. Plenty of consumables available. We were a little late checking out but this wasnt a problem. Food in the bar were friendly, the food was good pub food and the coffee delicious. Hotel staff were friendly and efficient, no hanging around. We booked this hotel Only minor negatives: the lift does go up to the 3rd floor but the light on the button doesn't work and the doors are very slow to close, making it seem as though the lift only goes to the 2nd floor. The windows need to be fully closed to activate the aircon-we didnt realise this as the writing is so small on the heating instructions, but there are sensors on the windows. One bar staff was a little rude when we asked for the service charge to be removed as you pay as you order, not after you've eaten, we wouldve been happy to leave a tip if at the end and he wasnt so rude. This hotel appeared closer to The O2 on the Hotels.com app, it is actually around 8 miles away, only a 15 min walk to Leyton underground then 4 stops on 2 lines, but definitely not withing walking distance agter a show. Great location to go to Leyton Orient football stadium though, if that's what you are going for. Overall, very good value for money.
Food at restaurant was great
Clean comfortable
Great location for london stadium
The staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough to help us.
Grat Location
Great location, food excellent pitty only opens at 9 for breakfast as too late. Bed comfy but room hot and very small sink. Take earplugs for noise and eye mask as light from fridge keeps room lit.
Taxi was only £6 from Stratford. Quite a bit of road noise. But staff fab, room clean and food lovely. Would have loved some water in the room as bar closed at 11pm.
Brilliant location for London stadium! Hotel was clean and fresh! Room was big and spacious
I was pleasantly surprised with my stay. And rge food was nice too. Had a Shish Kebab on the first night and it was so nice went back next day for breakfast.
It was a pleasant surprise to find such clean modern facilities in an old fashioned building. The hotel and adjoining pub both had friendly and helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble.
All good
Decent hotel and bar
Nice hotel, one breakfast I did manage to get was nice, breakfast times are 9-11 so if you put earlier you can get pre packed breakfast but it’s hit and miss whether u get it. , staff friendly , room nice and very clean , would stop again , parking is £15 a day and only 5 spaces and you have to ring hotel to let u in.
Food was fantastic!
The property was very clean, tidy and smelt fresh ... The staff were friendly and helpful. The only issue I found was parking, the property has limited parking spaces however I didn't manage to get a spot throughout my stay. Parking around the area is expensive and restricted.
The location was terrible and it was kind of misleading about the location. Also, hotel didn’t have any napkin in room…etc.
Nice hotel . Made on of the best late
t fault the cleanliness of the room. The hotel staff were friendly and informative. The only thing missing in our room were hand towels and bath mat. We did have large bath towels and the shower was lovely
Great staff hotel ok area very poor
Would stay again!
3 night stay January 2024
A nice 3 star hotel. Was travelling solo. Had a small double room, ideal for one person. Bed was comfortable, towels and soap replaced every day - all in all just what I needed. The only slight problem was that the bathroom was really cold. The main room had 2 walls that were windows, offering a great view, however it did mean that it took a while for the room to warm up once I got in. I didn't use any of the other hotel facilities e.g. restaurant and bar, so I can't comment on those. Would be happy to book it again.
The room was exceptionally clean, plenty of toiletries and towels provided. Its about a 10 min walk from Leyton station. Plenty of food options along the way from the brand name takeaways to milkshakes, donuts and supermarkets. I had a lovely full english in the morning which was excellent.
A real find. Spotlessly clean a tastefully decorated. Both dinner and breakfast spot on. Room 5⭐ including power shower.
A short stay, but enjoyable.
avoid - would not recommend.
Rooms are nothing like the pictures, the Air-con was broken and the room was to hot to even sleep in, we had a tiny window that opened a quarter of the way facing a brick wall, none of the light switched worked. only give you 1 towel as well. Would not recommend
Would think twice before booking.
For the money there are a lot better, more comfortable and convenient with parking major purple hotel chain that I wouldn’t think twice to book or recommend other than here. The mattress was solid with polyester sheets and duvet which when the air on doesn’t work means you wake up in a pool of sweat. Parking is a nightmare and you have to try and use on road which you will need to be gone by 8am or risk it not being there when you return.
Prior to arriving I was concerned that I wasn’t staying in a known branded hotel but needed something close to QMUL. From the moment we arrived all the staff were beyond amazing. Truly some of the best service we have ever seen. The breakfast menu is amazing, would strongly recommend including it in your stay. The rooms were very clean in general but room service and restock was conducted daily unlike most other hotels now. The location is great becaue only a couple stops from central London using the tube and the station is a short 12 minute walk from the hotel. My only advise would be the area is not the safest after 11 so possibly be back before but the hotel itself has a lot of safety measures in place for its guests. Thank you so much for having us ! We will definitely recommend to anyone visiting and will be back soon as well.
Way above a 3 star ⭐️ !! Super impressive in quality and service!
Great hotel and fantastic location
Great stay!
Made to feel very welcome on arrival. Very relaxed atmosphere. Spotlessly clean. Room and food great. Unfortunately doesn't do breakfast till 9am which is too late for those using the hotel for business. Even continental breakfast wouldn't be appreciated
Would definately stay again. Lovely staff and wonderful food!
Lovely staff and car park was very handy
Lovely hotel and friendly staff
Lovely boutique style hotel, friendly, helpful staff and great food, I recommend the L&K breakfast. Thanks for a lovely stay!
Over night stay
Hotel was clean and staff were friendly. It was only a one night stay. Easy to find. I would stay here again.
Really enjoyable stay, only let down by the strong smell of cigarette smoke in the room (B3) at certain times of day when the staff were having a break outside.
Family wedding booking.
I cannot fault the service from this hotel. It was a stay for my daughters wedding and we had a number of rooms booked. All were given early check in and late check outs at no extra cost. The service was super professional and so friendly. The room itself was spotless and very comfortable. Thank you from us all!
Stayed here multiple times and will continue to do so
The food was remarkably good. Staff is very friendly and eager to help. Room is clean.
Liked its cleanliness, food, proximity to bus service to go where i wanted to
The desk reception staff is extremely welcoming, friendly and SO HELPFUL! The spacious room itself was perfect for our 4 day stay. Windows open to let in that cool rainy air freshness. The room had everything we needed. My favorite part was the out of this world delicious food from their kitchen. Best falafel I’ve ever had. Hummus and tzatziki out of this world. The entire neighborhood is so diverse in its residents and therefore food selection. Bakeries, Turkish fpod, Chinese, burgers, doners, Indian, Lebanese, seafood grill and the obvious fast food like KFC. It’s a safe, easy 10 min walk to the Leyton station, which will take you straight to city center London. Pharmacy next door. TK Maxx down the road and several convenience stores with everything from toiletries to fresh fruits. Lots of coffee shops, too. My only downside is that they don’t serve breakfast until 9am. Beds aren’t very large and pillows were hard and mattress was rock but despite that; we’d stay there again in an instant. The kitchen and lobby was so festively decorated for Christmas so that was a charming touch. Also, the airport pay our luggage so we didn’t have any toiletries and rhe lovely female working the desk upon our checkin gave us so many extras because it was late, no stores were open by the time we checked in. Quality hotel- safe, profitable and very clean! Highly recommend!
Just one thing spoilt it - noise
The staff were very helpful. The room was very clean and new. However, all of the flooring are tile. There is no soundproofing between the room door and corridor. Hotel Guests were coming and going until 2 pm. I think also there was a cleaning cupboard next to my door constantly being accessed. At 3.20 am two bins of some sort were relocated outside the window of the hotel room. Real shame could not fault it other than you cannot get any sleep.
Business stay-1 night
Spotlessly clean-staff really helpful & polite
It was a great location. Liked that they had a bar and restaurant. Wished they had more parking and a fridge in the rooms
Rude check in / receptionist
Very rude receptionist checked in my elderly parents quite late at night and was demanding photo ID from them which people in their 70s don’t tend to carry around. They’ve stayed here at least 15 times before and never been asked for ID so it was very stressful for them on check in. We won’t stay again.
Clean well landed out
The room was clean and comfortable. When I first arrived, I was worried about using the Tube the next day. The desk clerk (a man, but I don't have his name) explained it for me and even googled directions about which routes to take to get to my destination.
Like
Rooms very small and when opening curtain was greeted with a brick wall which we feel should be stated when booking as we definitely would not of booked that room but I must say the staff were great bar and restaurant staff couldn’t do enough for you and the food was lovely and plenty
Great hotel - no breakfast until 9AM!
The room was clean and large. Bed comfortable and no problem. Air conditioning was efficient and kept the large room very cool. Shower was excellent and gave brilliant water volume, with complimentary soaps and shampoo. Only issue is the noise. By very busy high road that has sirens blaring at all hours, noisy bikes/cars. Constantly hear them. Note, unbelievably on a Thursday morning breakfast is not served until 9am! So for business users, as I am, this is not going to work. However, i was provided a cofffee by the really helpful and understanding receptionist, Dean, who took pity on me when I discovered there was no breakfast! (At 7.30AM)
Extremely clean, the staff are excellent, the food is above and beyond.
L&K Hotel Leyton
The hotel was fantastic and great value for money. The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic quality and service was great too. The hotel is only one stop away from Stratford then a 10 minute walk. There is good underground/overground and also bus services within walking distance. Would definitely book again
Hotel has only 4 parking bays. Quite costly - if you can get one. Street parking is close to impossible.
2 night stay.
Friendly easy to find. Make sure you book your parking well in advance as only 4 spaces. Great for the central line into London much less expensive than Ubers.
We loved the hotel the staff were fantastic thank you 😊
Highly Recommended
Great place to stay! Close to public transport (bus every 10 minutes, takes you to underground station in 5 minutes). Good restaurant in hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful - they did so much for me. Rooms are comfortable. Neighborhood is safe. Shops and restaurants are nearby. Value for money is excellent. I plan to stay here again and again, whenever I visit the UK.
The property was clean and inviting. I felt safe with its security and the restaurant and bar was lovely attached, I was able to work and drink coffee all day with a lovely friendly team around. Parking was very important to me and reserving my space in advance was perfect, and why I booked!
Terrible.
There was no window in my room, even though room service ended at 9:30, i ordered my food way before and they made me come downstairs to get my food & carry the tray upstairs. There was no water in my room either.
No problems, staff friendly, nice room.
The property is dated but relatively clean. The staff are friendly but no VIP Access benefits at all. I forgot to ask as hustle for their “on site parking” but off the street on the other side in the neighborhood. Disappointed
Back view of hotel not pleasant out of hotel room & noisy at night
Very clean hotel with outstanding service from all staff. The restaurant food was amazing from breakfast to dinner, with a vibrant atmosphere. Definitely recommend a stay or just dining at the restaurant.
Highly recommended
Great place to stay, staff friendly, room spacious, clean and comfy bed. I would definitely stay here again. Only negative in my opinion was breakfast wasn’t served until 0900 so was able to experience this.
All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly
Room heating controls / noise
Lovely hotel for a 3* but issues with heating controls in the bedroom resulted in a very bad night. On arrival I had to request reception to turn the heating on in the room as the room control panel does not allow you to alter the settings. The heating was on for a short while then I had to request for it to be put on again. During the night the heating was inconsistent and ended up being too hot. Rang reception at 3:30am to just turn it off. To add to this with the room facing the main road, noise of traffic through the night didn't help at all. Needless to say it didn't leave me in the best of moods for the next day.
Good value, reasonably close to tube.
Great hotel.
The room was comfortable though a slightly bigger double bed would have been nice for the grand double that we were in. Lovely shower room, great shower. Service was very friendly and super efficient. Breakfast was great and the coffee was excellent.
Awful, very loud every night
Stayed here many times before and it’s really gone downhill. Breakfast is now served from 9am and 9.30am on a Sunday. Far too late to start breakfast. The noise levels are terrible. There’s clearly no sound proofing or door closers on the doors because all we heard all 3 nights was people arguing in the corridors and doors slamming. The fire alarm went off at 3am on our first night and went on for long enough that we had to get dressed and go to reception. No-one there to explain and no apology the next day. Avoid!!
Friendly helpful staff …clean and fresh feel …enjoyed the stay would go again
Smart, friendly and excellent facilities. It felt like being in a hotel in the Mediterranean rather than England, with smart facilities, quality fixtures and fittings in the rooms and friendly and professional staff. A very comfortable stay.
Excellent as ever. Not sure if they have changed the pillows but not quite as comfortable as I recall. Nevertheless always feel comfortable and safe.
It's called brunch, not breakfast!
Room was very warm, and air con wouldn't work until reception did something on a fancy panel. 1am the room heated up again with no one answering the reception phone I was forced to open the windows and listen to High Street noise all night. Food in the resturant was excellent, but the Hotels VIP complimentary drink at the bar turned out to be one kids drink only! Bit of a con! Then finally, I was told breakfast service did not start until 10am. I call that brunch.
Very disappointed dirty carpet they do change bad every day they do after three days cheaper toiletries it’s not value for money towels smell not fresh I don’t recamanded
Had a nice stay, very friendly service, good clean room, and very well located, in easy reach of underground, Olympic Park, and shops. Thabks
Was okay.
Nope.
Thumbs ip
Great hotel nice food
It was great. I’ve stayed before. However one thing I’ll say the last time we stayed our room the fridge was on, there was a kettle & all those little extra touches in the room. This time the fridge was off (luckily this time we didn’t need to use it). It’s just a ‘for future reference’. The receptionist was very nice to myself & my partner. She even went the extra mile to take photos of us. Loved it. Would definitely stay there again. Great place, has a bar & a nice seating area outside / inside. Great shops and restaurants nearby too which is very convenient. Very clean rooms and bathroom. 10/10.
Visiting Family
This was our third stay at the Lion and Key, everything is always extremely clean. We did miss the tea and coffee making facilities, these had been removed due to COVID-19, would have been nice to have a morning brew delivered to the room. We did have breakfast on both mornings of our stay and very tasty it was too. However when I booked the hotel with Hotel.com it offered 10% of food and drink ordered, but the staff in the bar didn’t know anything about it. We enjoyed our stay, and hopefully will be back soon.
great hotel,
so , this review is a 50/50. the hotel has some great points and a couple of not so. firstly the good . the hotel is very modern, the staff very helpful and polite, and the rooms are spotless. we only had drinks in the bar, and the cleanliness cannot be faulted the staff cleaned every table as soon as some one left . although we never ate , the restaurant seemed very busy so cannot be bad .
Covid took a lot of things out of the room so that was disappointing but the breakfast was lovely at the grill.
Not so much a hotel as a faint smear of pathological fear with adequate air conditioning and terrible food. When one thinks of a typical family hotel it’s not usually with a capital ‘F’, yet this place is like a moody swan — a general air of menace pervades, a low grade sinister, where minions scurry with fear and guests are left to ponder the low grade food, wonder from whence the endless stream of glamorous ladies come and go, and ponder the ironies of this place not providing a laundry service. Oh and the manager blithely stole £600 of my stuff — left in ‘safe’ storage. Watch your backs, watch your bags, if you hear the sound of a cement mixer you’d better pack up and run.
Fresh, modern and clean hotel with very helpful staff.
Items of approx £600 value left in storage for two weeks were ‘given to charity’, according to a made-up rule that items were disposed of after one week. If all you need is a cheap clean room, and don’t mind all the shady goings on with unsavoury gentlemen of all kinds, barely contained by staff who assert arbitrary power on any available occasions hand and exude primal fear the rest of the time, then this is fine for you. Just watch your step. Fawlty Towers meets The Sopranos might sound funny, but the reality is I’ve of dull borderline machinations.
Nice stay
Staff were very friendly, and helpful. Treated us very well. Thanks 🙏 Giorgio
Fabulous clean and friendly hotel with a great restaurant attached. I will stay again definitely
Wonderful stay. Very clean and modern. Walls a little thing, you can hear other people in other rooms. Bed was comfortable however pillows could be a bit more fluffier, they were quite uncomfortable.
Convenient base
Useful accommodation when visiting family in East London
