Prepare to climb a lot of stairs - everywhere! Main entrance: stairs (several of them) Parking: steep stairs (no lift/elevator) Aside from that a very nice hotel!

Ok stay

We had a mixed experience at The Hoxton. Our room was not ready at 2pm check in time, and when we did get the room an hour later, it was a musty, unclean room in the basement. We went back to the desk to request a change, to which we were told basement rooms are “normal” in Amsterdam, and we only were able to change rooms with my persistence as the room we were given was not satisfactory. We had to wait another 2 hours to be given another room. What was the most frustrating however, was other guests were offered complementary drinks at the hotel bar when their room was not ready at check in, but we were told to just wait and deal with it. While the issue with the room was rectified, the discrepancy in service between guests left a sour taste in our mouths. The breakfast was a la carte and rather limited compared to other European hotels. The hotel is not close to the city center and there are not many food options nearby. While the rest of the stay was fine, I’m refraining from a 5 star review because of the check in experience.

I enjoyed the decor and the friendly service from the staff. They accommodated my needs, and I was grateful that the property was dog-friendly.

My friends and I enjoyed staying at this property! The hotel was spotless, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment. Its proximity to the train station was a major plus, allowing for easy access to explore the city. To top it off, the food was delightful, offering a variety of delicious options that made each meal enjoyable. Overall, it was a perfect blend of convenience and comfort.

Hotel with character on a quiet block

The hotel was very nice. We liked that it was older (built in 1920) and had a lot of character. Also it was about 3/4 of a mile from the train station so out of the hub-bub and noise of downtown old Amsterdam. We had a nice view of the waterway and there were several local places to eat. I'm glad we chose The Hoxton for our stay.

Disappointing to be honest. Not a patch on Hoxton Shoreditch, Holborn and Southwark where I've stayed - this was vastly overpriced for the quality of room and general hotel services. Had a cosy room which was beyond basic. Window was broken so had to get someone to fix that. No frills to the stay whatsoever which for the per room cost I found a surprise. Didn't eat at the restaurant as there was no one in it when I arrived - opted for room service but there was limited choice (4 mains I think) so ended up ordering a takeaway. Location isn't central but well connected via a quick tram. Available bikes are limited so you've got to be quick to get one. All in all and underwhelming experience for the price.

Absolutely loved our welcome by Lara at the reception. Very friendly and informative.😊 We also loved our dog box and bed. 😍 Our room was very clean, comfortable and warm. Parking was also closed by in a parking house. 👍 Unfortunately, when we ordered a takeaway at night, no staff called us to let us know that the food arrived (despite this was suggested earlier as we found the three room service meals not to our taste.) In the end the pizza was just lukewarm 😬. Very good money for value!

Amazing hotel with a great size rooms, only 25 minutes walk to be in the mid of everything… bicycle rentals and staff is 5 star

Everything about this hotel was amazing. Quaint, beautiful historic building, and amazing staff. The room i stayed in didn't have air conditioning and it was a bit warm.

The hotel is chic with hip decor. The rooms are very good size and beds are comfortable. There's even complementary water and milk in the fridge. Customer service is great as we're able to get a room despite early check in. Highlight is that Colin at Front Desk was able to go the extra mile to help us arrange a taxi to the airport at a much cheaper price than Uber and website. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay very much as it's also got a few supermarket and restaurants across the street.

A lovely place. Shame the bar was shut during our stay as the restaurant bar had less ambience.

We were unable to sleep during the first night due to the room being very warm and no air conditioning available. Only some of the hotel rooms have air conditioning therefore it can be a problem on warm days. I would not return.

The service was excellent. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The rooms are clean and the bedding very comfortable. Would recommend this hotel.

Good location within walking distance of the cruise port. Also beautiful along the water and we liked the nearby restaurants and grocery store. We stayed in two different rooms before and after the cruise. The bunk bed room had a weird bathroom layout and was stuffy. We needed to ask for a fan. But we loved the bunk beds and everything else was comfortable. The loft room was air conditioned, although up in the loft it was still a bit warm. We thought this room was beautiful and would totally stay in it again. The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately one of the taxis they called for us, which they said would guarantee us a set rate, overcharged us by a lot. Other than that the staff did an amazing job. One other note, there is not a ramp to get into the hotel. You have to heft your luggage up about 6-7 stairs. We did it ok but if we were older that might not have worked.

Great location. Within walking distance of cruise port, and also centraal station. We stayed in two different rooms before and after the cruise. Both were great. We especially liked the loft room. Staff very friendly and helpful. The only thing that could have made our stay better was air conditioning in the first room. It was a bit stuffy.

Amazing rooms and great location.

Anything is possible for Hotel but I just would have to take some points off because I should not have to ask for my room to be cleaned let alone be given clean towels. They let me in at three in the morning, which was really nice because I had some personal circumstances involved, but that doesn’t mean that I can excuse them for not providing me with clean towels until I complain about it.

Amazing hotel

Great hotel, amazing design - one of the most spectacular rooms we have ever had! Really great experience! The only thing that should be improved is the breakfast. Very limited choice and only a la carte. It would be great to have a wider choice of more breakfast options that you can choose by yourself from the buffet.

Nice hotel in historic building that’s close to a large canal but not in the middle of the city center. 3 min walk to one of 2 tram stops that will get you to city center or to central station. Room was nice. Quiet. Has AC which is rare in Europe. Has fridge, tea, and bottled water. Very nice stay.

The staff are what makes this property even more amazing. It is beautiful and in a lovely quiet area but two tram stops from ce real station on the east side docks. Beautiful quaint shops around it and the rooms are so clean and comfy. Staff cannot do enough to help. Add breakfast on when booking .. it’s amazing. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

The property itself has amazing character. The staff were all helpful and friendly and prioritized their guests. Did not eat or drink in the restaurant or lounge but did cross the street to a pedestrian shopping mall to grab breakfast and lunch. Good, fresh food available at relatively reasonable prices. Also was really easy to get everywhere on public transit. I would definitely stay again.

One of my favorite hotels!

This is honestly one of the best hotels I have stayed at. From the attention to design to the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff to the size of the rooms, I was really impressed. As soon as you walk in you feel like you are in a special building. This was once a hotel for the Lloyd company for people exiting Europe in the early part of the century. Then became a jail for youths, then back to a hotel and recently renovated by the Hoxton company. I strongly recommend taking the breakfast option which has a delicious à la carte selection. There are a few local restaurants within 5 minute walk and a great grocery store right in front. Downtown Amsterdam is only a 10 minute bike ride along the water.

Great staff, property was good and close to tram station

Great place for families. The hotel staff were very professional and helpful. We left some stuff and they emailed us a picture of the items left behind. The room for our family of 4 was big enough with plenty of space for luggage. We got a corner room that had 2 big windows that faced a basketball court and part of the river. A small park with a water fountain is across the street where kids were splashing in the water. A market is also next to the park. There was only some noise outside as people left the nearby restaurants, but overall good sleep.

The hotel’s history - former shipping area/building - and conversion to a hotel is amazing. Close enough to be at central station and everything Amsterdam center in 10 mins. (2-3 min walk to tram to central station). Restaurant was great. Staff was great.

We couldn’t check in until an hour past the time we were supposed to be able to which was frustrating given how much we paid for the room.

Such a beautiful hotel really exceeded my expectations!

Everything was good but the room was really hot, no air con. They did not specify that not every room has air con. So we did not request one. They gave us electric fan but not enough to combat the heat.

We got in very late and the staff were some of the friendliest I have seen. They were willing to work with us in English and gave fantastic recommendations. The hotel is in a quiet area, but there is a tram right behind it that is a 5 minute ride from center city. The food was very good and the rooms were everything we were looking for.

Superb place to stay with everything one can ask for.

One of the best Hotel I stayed in. Location is perfect, just close to tram and bus stop. Very clean. Staff is super helpful. Rooms are spacious. Back deck is amazing to spend some good time with family or friends. We as a family of four have stayed twice here. Will definitely come again. Would recommend it highly.
