I had a studio room which had a kettle, fridge etc. Staff were great. It is located within walking distance of the old town and the train station but in a quiet neighbourhood
Triple room was quite large, had comfortable beds, funky lighting and a functional bathroom with good hot water supply. There was a portable air conditioner provided. Kitchenette did not have a microwave or cooking utensils, but still useful. We enjoyed the daily breakfast (17 euros). Staff were all very friendly and efficient. Short 5 min walk to transport and amenities. Quite a bit further to the old town, bridge and castle
Great hotel and staff, not the best location, 18 minutes walk from the train station.
Nice place to stay. Walking distance to old city, wuth plenty of shops and great food. Parking on street could be a challenge, i was looking .
Great spot close to all amenties, clean hotel, nice reception, beds are a bit small but comfortable
This was a clean hotel with sizable room, we were 3 guests staying in a room. The bathroom was well equipped and there was AC for the summer days. The staff were very helpful in storing our luggage after checkout. The checkin time is 2 PM which was a bit late for us, as we had travelled a long distance, would be nice to have a earlier checkin time
Very big room and clean.
Kind staff, 10mins walk to old town, 20mins walk to castle.
The area around the location was under some construction and it made it challenging for us to locate the hotel. Parking was available on the street and we were able to purchase a parking pass for 5 euro. The hotel is simple, the shower is deep, and the beds are hard. The portable AC was welcomed, but be forewarned there's no central air here.
Love the location, everything is so close to within walk, or you can catch a bus or the tram easily. The hotel itself is so nice and clean. Wonderful atmosphere and a lovey experience all together!
Enjoyable stay
Clean and comfortable hotel. Minimal staff contact as we never had breakfast so only check in (Handed an i pad) and checkout done manually. The staff were helpful and courteous when we did have contact. Only downside was the rooms were very hot even with the large fan that was supplied. apart from that a very comfortable stay. A 15 minute to many shops and nice restaurants.
Highly recommend this property! It was perfect :)
Only downside was no AC. Great place
The rooms were clean and the place was conveniently located near the station.
Needs elevator and ac
Good hotel and convenient location in a quiet area. Very walkable.
Part of the hotel has no elevator but you can’t tell when booking. Guess only the more expensive rooms have the luxury. Plus no A/C on a hot summer day might be an issue for some.
I liked that this property is a short drive away from the castle and university. It gave a feel for a neighborhood area of the city. They offer parking which made it easy to store the car. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. We had a wonderful view. The staff was friendly and breakfast was the typical buffet of meats, cheeses, breads, and fruits. All was delicious. One thing that was a bit difficult was parking in front of the hotel to unload the bags because the main street is busy and the side street is one-way and mostly non-stopping zones. But, other than that, it was a wonderful stay.
Nice place and staff very friendly.
The property was clean and in a safe location.
Second time here
We absolutely love the breakfast there. Better than most hotels…super friendly staff!
This was a nice place to stay. The breakfast was good but I don’t know that it was worth the extra cost. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Nice place. Attentive staff. Room is large with separate sitting area and fridge and mini kitchenette even, which I never used, but nice to have. Convenient parking. Floor is wood and not carpet. All in all recc with no reservations. Liked it even though unfortunately had no time and had one night stay only.
It was an ok hotel for being old and out dated. The shower in the bathroom was awful and the way the shower was installed, it would SOAK the floor every time it was used. There was no air conditioner which made it very stuffy in there. Parking was almost impossible unless you drive around a lot. Bed are super hard. Best redeeming quality was Monica. That girl is fantastic and so pleasant. She made the stay worth our time. Otherwise.... would not stay here again.
This is the best hotel for the money that I have experienced in Heidelberg. The front-desk staff is attentive, friendly and helpful. The convenient Frankfurt Airport bus operated by Lufthansa stops at the Hilton, a 10-minute walk away. Rooms are bright and recently renovated. Access to Hauptstadt, Altstadt and local transportation center at Bismarckplatz are nearby.
Great hotel with traditional style and character yet modern. Staff was helpful to find close paid parking. Coffee and water in lobby. Close to old town but quiet. Would stay again! Love Heidelberg!
The hotel was wonderful. The rooms were nice and quiet. We found the location convenient. It’s a 10 minute walk from Heidelberg-Weststadt/Südstadt train station. We were close to a bus stop (just around the corner) to get to the Heidelberg castle. And it was a nice walk through the old town on pedestrian streets to get back. I would definitely stay here again.
Comfortable.
Easy walk to Heidelberg's main street. Comfortable room and bathroom, with a mini kitchen.
Convenient to access public transportation.
nice staff and great service
I loved the elegant architecture of the older building with modern interior. The small parking lot was very handy for the rental/exploring car. It is very close to the Old Town of Heidelberg. The main train station is about 1 mile away (20 min walk) or take tram. Enjoy.
We had a fantastic stay. We were travelling with our infant and had a baby cot and baby bath supplied for us. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and well appointed. Highly recommend this hotel!
FABULOUS
This hotel is Wonderful!! Especially staying here during the Christmas markets the staff were super helpfull and very nice .Parking is exactly what you'd expect in a city. Be prepared to drive around the blocks a bit and construction is going on as well but not a big deal to us Their Breakfast Buffet is awesome! Super convenient walking to the city centre and the tram up to the castle. Bedding is super comfy. We will definitely come back here again.
We chose this hotel for one night due to its ratings and location (halfway between the train station and old town). We were allowed to check in a few hours early because our room was ready. The room itself was very clean and spacious. The morning breakfast tasted great. I would definitely stay here again.
Coming back to this gem
Extended a work trip for the weekend in Heidelberg and found this charming hotel that is a remodeled classic building and centrally located in a quiet neighborhood. Since I was there in November, air conditioning wasn’t a factor. The only ding I would give is there isn’t an elevator so carrying luggage was more work than I wanted. Everything was within a 15-20 minute walk or you could hop on the e-scooters to make trips quicker (I went to the SNP Dome). A great value.
Proximity to Old City; castle, shopping and great dining.
Wonderful hotel, spacious room with tub, small frig, free water when we arrived, the bed is very firm & coffee at breakfast was not great otherwise everything else excellent. Staff held our bag at check out so we could explore before we left via train.
The room was spacious and clean with a small kitchenette, and the hotel has a breakfast available for a fee if you don’t want to prepare something in your room. It was clean and reasonably priced for Heidelberg. Most importantly, the staff was very welcoming and helpful. I would definitely consider staying there again.
It was ok to stay but bit walking to the old city.
Great hotel within walking distance of all the sights of Heidelberg. A 5-7 minute walk to the tram and grocery store. The room was spacious, comfortable and had a great kitchenette that served all my needs. The staff were very friendly and helpful. All in all a great place to stay at a reasonable price.
Very friendly staff and convenient location
Great place! Amazing condition
Amazing room! Great location with excellent value for money and rooms condition. Nice radio station within the bathroom also
Nice and clean hotel with friendly staff at reception who let us leave our luggage when we arrived early. Room had the basic amenities and was a good size for two people. There was no air conditioning, but a good fan was provided and windows could be opened to the quiet street. Located in a quiet area, that’s a bit of a walk to the main tourist/old town area.
Great location, room and staff. Zero complaints.
Our room was one of the corner rooms that overlooked the city. It was amazing!
Lovely Stay!!!
This hotel was adorable! The staff was all amazing and kind. Our room was large and clean. The entire property was safe, clean, and beautiful. The breakfast was phenomenal. We had a wonderful stay!
The hotel was very conveniently located. We walked to the shopping area and to the historic district. It was close to restaurants. It had a delicious breakfast. The breakfast was 15 euros per person. It had fruit, meat, cheese, breads, coffee, juice.
Simple clean rooms
Located near the downtown, this hotel is okay. However, you may have trouble with your bags. Because my floor did not have an elevator.
Our biggest problem was getting to the hotel. Long-term roadworks on street make access difficult. But we parked 200m away and went to hotel to get specific directions and managed to follow them to car park. Rooms very well-appointed and comfortable, if a bit compact. Very good location only 10 mins walk to river and Altstadt. Breakfast was excellent. Definitely recommend the property but suggest that hotel provides more specific directions with confirmation as satnav doesn't help
A great value and the staff was exceedingly friendly. I’d definiertem stay here again.
Great location and easy walking to the castle and shopping area.
Hotel Exzellenz was Excellent!
Your hotel isnexcellent for family traveler
Excellent as it’s name sounds.
The only drawback about this property during our stay was the construction on the road out front. And the hotel has no control over this. We were in the newer side of the hotel and found our room to be excellent on every aspect. Would recommend and stay agsin should i return to Heidelberg.
Huge, palatial room
Recent stay
Great hotel. Clean and bright, close to all attractions. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. We didn’t stay for breakfast but it did look good. The price for our one night stay was more than fair.
A Pleasing Experience
A wonderful first stop on our European journey, setting a high standard for all other accommodation to live up too. The breakfasts were a welcome start to the day, with fresh fruit, pastries, cold meats, hot food and more, all of good quality. Staff very welcoming, with a quietness and efficiency. Room clean, bed comfortable, slept well. Liked that we had an opening window for fresh air. On 4th floor with lovely vista. Stair and lift access. A very easy going environment.
H-town
The hotel is a nice art nouveau building close to Bismarck Platz. COVID protocols have made the check in process awkward as well as have reduced the staff. It is better to arrive before 17:30.
Great staff.
Perfect set up for our business trip
Very good set up, easy check in and out, friendly helpful staff, very nice modern rooms, comfy beds. Very good hotel.
I loved the Haribo Bears left on my pillow and the lip balm at the front desk. Also, the ladies at the front desk suggested a delicious Italian Restaurant down the street, Trattoria 37.
The staff was amazing! We stopped at the wrong train station and they helped us get where we needed to go - so helpful. Rooms are great, just what we needed after a long day of travel. Try the Italian restaurant just down the street - such great food and service!!
We were woken up at 6.30am by the fire alarm because someone apparently'burnt the toast', staff did not apologise or even really acknowledge an issue as people all made they're easy down the stairs. Apart from this the hotel is well located with easy walk too the old town (20 minutes), rooms are large and we had a kitchenette. Note a quiet hotel though as positioned on a corner of a main road
Great front office staff. They were helpful, answered a ton of questions, gave suggestions of where to go visit, asked how everything was and if we needed anything else, and gave us a departure gift. Cute little building divided up into rooms. Old style key entrance, huge windows, large bathroom.
Clean and basic hotel in a good location with eazy access
great, clean, quiet hotel maybe the breakfast could be warmer
property was good but until now i havent got the receipts
We had a nice big, corner room for my wife, son, and I. Nice location for Heidelberg, park and walk everywhere from the hotel. Very nice hotel, seems newly remodeled. We enjoyed it very much.
Wonderful stay! Quiet, clean and friendly staff
The room was extremely clean and quiet, everything in this hotel is really nice. The staff was super helpful, even attending to special non-trivial requests! I would highly recommend this hotel and would be happy to come back to it next time in Heidelberg.
Clean, spacious room close to downtown. Would definitely come back. Thank you!
Very stylish and comfortable, tea/coffee in foyer, pleasant staff
They need better house cleaning attn to detail.
The toilet paper roll cover (metal cover) had feces on it. It was not very comforting to see that.
My new favorite hotel in the Heidelberg area. Truly Excellent.
The room was very large and they had a parking lot
Great Hotel, friendly staff, and well located
We had a terrific stay, the staff were very helpful, our room spacious, clean and quiet. Parking was convenient. Very good breakfast. We will be back
Very nice room and hotel. Good breakfast.
ok. It's near the city center with good connections.
large and well styled room
very nice room and much larger than typical. Short walk to shopping and good restaurants. Nice breakfast in the morning.
Small and nice
Small very nice hotel, in a quiet area but within easy walking distance to the old town. Station is a quick cab trip
Loved this hotel except the no elevator part
We loved everything about this hotel. The room was bigger than the other rooms we stayed in on our trip. The hotel was nicely updated, the staff was so friendly and the location was close enough to old town. It was about a 15 minutes walk and we love walking. The only inconvenience I’d mention is there was no elevator to get to our room. There was one elevator to get to one side of the hotel with some rooms, but the main part you had to take the stairs. We were traveling with a toddler and we had 2 luggages and a stroller and getting up to the first floor wasn’t fun at all. But we still loved our stay there! I totally recommend it!
Nice hotel close to city center
Front Desk staff 10/29, 10/30, 10/31 excellent. Very polite always willing to help. Rooms were very clean, comfortable
Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Great location and price for room. The only down to this place is that it does not have free parking but staff can issue you a parking pass for a few Euros.
Parking is limited but otherwise a nice place to stay
The Heidelberg Exzellenz is just that, excellent.
I was in Heidelberg 3 days for business and needed a nice, clean, quiet place to stay in. At first I was given a room that faced the street and as I'm a light sleeper I asked to be moved which they did graciously, the only drawback was that section of the hotel didn't have an elevator which I didn't care about. The room was spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated with excellent heating. Breakfast was not included in my stay but for 9 Euros you couldn't ask for more. Great spread of breads, meats, cheeses, eggs and pancakes with real maple syrup every day. And they always have hot water and tea and coffee out throughout the day, often with a pastry to accompany your sweet tooth. A great stay.
Good location
Nice location to local sights. Much to do..Room was barebones nothing fancy but very clean..first impression was, this is college furnishings. Small ironing board. Bed was standard European still of two twins slid together..bath tub was small. Water was good pressure and very hot..hotel lift was small and old school. Staircase was rounded so stairs were steep..classy but be careful. All day tea, coffee in the lobby was useful..only about seven minutes taxi from main train station. 28 min walk to the castle..lots of shopping near by..hotel staff were friendly breakfast was nine euros per person..again very clean nice stay. Might have gotten a better price...could have had a few more pillows only two small ones ...
Great hotel!
Great hotel close enough to the town centre to get everywhere, but far enough out not to be noisy. Really friendly staff and great selection for breakfast. Rooms were large and clean.
Heidelberg Stay
There was no air conditioning so stuffy. Did have a fan which helped a bit. No fan in bathroom which makes it hot. Opened windows and bees and bugs flew in. Need more English channels. No coffee in the room. Breakfast pricey. Location was convenient and Heidelberg is beautiful!
Summer 2017 Heidelberg Visit
Beautifully maintained hotel, with very friendly, helpful staff. Little perks like the coffee and tea, fruit and sweets available in the main lobby we're very nice. We were able to walk from the train station, and also walk into the old town and to Heidelberg Castle easily, each within about 20-30min. walk. Two things to consider - no air conditioning, and lots of outside road noise, since we wanted our windows open all the time. They did provide a nice, big fan which worked well, and helped block out some of the noise. Overall, I would greatly recommend the Exzellenz Hotel, and would stay there again if we were to visit Heidelberg again.
Great Location & Area
Great location, helpful staff, comfortable hotel. No aircon which was not so good, & the hotel was slightly on the expensive side. But there was always coffee available in the lobby & since we did not need the car during our stay, residents parking was available for just 3 euros a day.
Warm in Heidelberg
The area was wonderful to walk and spend time along the river. People were friendly. The hotel room was nice. However the fan was not adequate to cool the room so sleeping was uncomfortable. There was no internal bar so we were not able to have a drink and relax within. Overall very nice place, though, except for the warm room.
Worked for us
It's not close to the altstadt or much else besides a standard-issue commercial district, but it was clean, comfortable, and a good value. As we came to expect in supposedly tech-friendly Germany, the wifi was spotty.
hotel good
Great hotel
Beautiful hotel, great location, friendly staff. Better than many 4 star hotels I have visited
Very Pleasant Stay
It was more than excellent stay for my family trip. Room was spacious, clean, newly decorated. Parking was easier with private spot, staff was friendly, even wi-fi was the fastest in Europe I have experienced for a few years! It is 15-minute walk from Heideberg central station, I would love to come back to stay next time I visit Heidelberg.
Germany Adventure
We had a large room with a bath, lots of light and breakfast in the morning was very good. We walked into town to see the sights & there is plenty of places to eat and drink.
Great!!
It was great stay in Exzellenz Hotel.
Excellent!
I had a fantastic experience with Exzellenz Hotel and would recommend it to anyone traveling through Heidelberg. The location is great - the Hauptstrasse and River is only a 2 minute walk away, the staff are very kind and attentive, the rooms are very clean and has everything you may need for general comfort and needs.
This hotel was above expectations. It was all new, the room was large, and the street was quiet.
The Heidelberg Exzellenz Hotel | Hotel in Heidelberg | Travala.com
The people are friendly and attentive. The property is well maintained. It is close enough to the altstadt that walking everywhere was no problem. The food recommendation from the receptionist “krokodil” was not very good and overpriced. Plenty of better places a short distance away. Otherwise all was great!
