Property is nice and clean. Very narrow staircase to the room and no elevator. Staff assisted with luggage but not for people with knee problems
A lovely find
Super convenient
Great hotel, super nice staff. Perfect for catching an early Eurostar.
I had the room with the balcony. Staffs were friendly. However, there was no elevator to our second floor room. There were construction outside and Uber/taxi could not drive directly to the hotel. We had to walk a block to our uber/taxi. The bed was smaller than advertised. The bed was more like a full, not a queen.
Beautiful spot just a short walk from Kings Cross. If you're looking for to stay somewhere a little different, this is a great option.
Great place to stay. Close to the train and tube stations
Don't stay at room 7!
When I arrived I had been "upgraded" to a better room. The catch is that this room was a lower floor room (below ground floor) and it was facing the street with a storage just in front of it. There were men (not form the hotel) loading vans at 3am on that storage. The room had single glass windows that are old, without any isolation for cold or noise. IKt was like if people were inside my room at 3am, walking over metal stairs and carrying heavy things form teh storage.
Lovely stay at the Gyle
The Gyle was a perfect location, steps away from King’s Cross and Euston stations. I stayed on the 3rd level. Quite steep steps to carry up luggage. The room itself was very small, though OK for me as I was traveling solo. The compact space was used well. Keep in mind this hotel is located in a townhouse so the walls can be quite thin. Enjoyed the breakfast included. Enjoyed that the bar was open 24 hours! Staff was pleasant. Would stay again the next time I’m in London.
When so many hotel rooms these days are identical, this hotel stood out. I loved its quirkiness. Our room even had its own little garden.
Air con not working
No lift
Lovely if you don’t mind a few inconveniences
Reception staff very friendly and polite. Room was lovely and clean. The vaulted bathroom room was very nice however the issue was that the rooms were downstairs in the basement more specifically underneath the entrance of the hotel and therefore lots of noise, people coming in and out of the hotel and people talking etc. These rooms should not be so highly priced due to this inconvenience, although I did see a pair of earbud I don’t think this is a sufficient compensation for such disturbances. No phone in the room so you have to go to reception if you have any issues, the bathroom lacked hooks or towel rails to hang used towels and robes, there was no bin in the room only in the bathroom which is inconvenient. Overall this was a nice hotel and the vaulted bathroom was nice but a little cold. One more thing the TV has screen mirror option but I was not able to utilise this as it didn’t appear to be working.
The Gyle
We selected this property because of its proximity to the St Pancras rail station and the location was great. Friendly helpful staff and the room and other facilities were very clean! Please note that this hotel has NO lift/elevator and, if you have heavy or oversized luggage, it will be a REAL challenge to get your stuff up the narrow wooden steps! One other challenge is figuring out the light/power switches. The master switch was on the wall next to the door and we could never get the all the lights to go out without shutting off the master switch. The hotel employee was unable to explain how the system works.
The hotel has a depressing feel about it. It is dark and cramped. When I was checking in there was heavy cigarette smoke inside. There were always cleaning stuff, packed laundry all around, coming in and going out. It is nice to know that there is an effort to clean but they should not be in the way as the spaces are already so tight inside. Of the three receptionists- first one was super cool and welcoming; the second was an ice cold lady; the third one just doing his job. Would not want to stay again:(
Lovely hotel. Stairs were a bit steep. Would not suit someone who was unfit.
Right in kings cross, location excellent
Junior suite offers a good amount of space by London standards. Breakfast offered a wide selection, but no hot items. Short walk from Kings Cross Station. Overall a very good value.
Some quirkiness with the layout of the room, for example, very small bedside tables. No elevator and very difficult to get suitcase down narrow winding stairs.
So easy to get around from the hotel, kings cross is right down the street which we loved as we took the tube EVERYWHERE! Room was a bit small and no hooks for towels to dry but other wise would stay again!
Comfy bed, nice and quiet rooms. Definitely appreciate the 24hr snack and drink bar available and the pastries and coffee in the morning. Super close to St Pancras and Kings Cross Stations too!
Very clean and well modernized even if the building is a bit older. Was one of the nicest and most affordable hotels we could find that was just a 5 min walk from the Kings Cross / St. Pancras Station.
The hotel was just as pictured. We loved the decor and uniqueness of it, along with the story behind it. The staff were very helpful, assisting us with our credit card issue and just overall giving recommendations and checking in. This is a wonderful stay if you are looking for a place near Kings Cross and local bus tours.
Nice hotel. Small rooms. No elevators.
Lovely hotel near St. Pancras. The staff were pleasant and accommodating and rooms are well appointed and very clean. We were very satisfied with our stay and would consider staying again.
Convenient place to go to Kings X early morning. Shower head looked pretty grimy, cheap shower gel and shampoo. Lovely staff.
Impeccable attention to detail !
We booked a night after we traveled into St PANCRAS from Paris. We wanted a close location and we found so much more. The attention to detail from rooms to restaurant was impeccable. Wished we stayed longer. They have other properties and next time we will try another !
Excellent Style, Service and Location
Really excellent location and beautifully clean and well designed hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Lovely design details and cool relaxing bar area. Room was perfect and bed super comfortable. Third floor location of our room meant a few flights of stairs but worth the effort.
comfy
Fantastic
Simply stunning hotel in a great location with fantastic service and rooms
Lovely hotel for using the Eurostar, very conveniently located. You can hear people moving around in their rooms but it’s a townhouse so is to be expected.
Nice hotel.Friendly staff. Great location.
It’s a typical central London hotel, completely overpriced and matchbox-sized, but I’m fine with all that, I knew it when I booked. What really pissed me off was that breakfast was NOT included, even though I specifically chose this hotel over others, because the listing said that breakfast was included. And here comes the absurdity - get this: when asked, we were told that breakfast is included for ONE person in the room only. Not both. For both people staying in the room (a “King” room, by the way, with two people included in the booking) to have breakfast, the second person would have to pay £15. What a great way to scam a few more quid out of your guests. Just absurd.
Nice hotel with a fun vibe. Unfortunately drain in shower was clogged so flooding when you shower. I mentioned it to receptionist and she said “ oh sorry “. Seems like a partial refund would make sense since it created a mess for us.
The Gyle had a bespoke quality that was lovely. The room was wonderful. Clean, spacious and unique. It was well stocked with amenities to make you feel comfortable and welcome. A great property!
Really lovely rooms. Very quiet and close to Kings Cross and St Pancras. Only issue was I was undercharged apparently and upon check out had to cough up another 15 GBP. No explanation or much apology, just take it or leave it. I would stay again but the extra charge at check out was not great to be honest. They could have left a note in the room? Would stay again.
Perfect
Staff were exceptional. Was an anniversary treat, and the room decor and champagne was delightful. Bed was super comfy and the balcony quiet and a great addition. Thank you so much. Will definitely stay again.
Quiet and tastefully decorated! Warm and friendly welcome with excellent transport kinks only a minute away. Would stay again
Wonderful!
I initially booked a deep tub room, which was amazing. However, after my long flight, I discovered that the shower was also in the sunken tub, making it difficult to get into without any handles or rails. There was only one step, and it was too low to use without assistance. I notified the front desk and was promptly moved to their apartment suite. The suite was bright and had a great walk-in shower. Although there were two TVs, only the one in the living room area worked. Since this trip was for my birthday, they kindly gave me a wonderful bottle of wine on my birthday. I would book the apartment again on a future trip. It was close to transportation, one block away.
Convenient to King's Cross Station, clean, great breakfast options, friendly
The Gyle was a great stopover!
A lovely property within a 5 minute stroll of both major train stations in London. Tasty continental breakfast and comfy room with lots of cool extras. Will definitely return! Thank you!
The property was very unique and met our requirements as close to St Pancras/Kings Cross.
Great place to stay in London
Amazing stay
Very convenient to St Pancras station. Enjoyed our stay.
Great location, super convenient right near a major underground station. Beautiful hotel, great service. Loved it!!
Great location for the Kings Cross Station. Our room was very comfortable and clean. There was no lift but it wasn’t a problem. A staff member carried our bags to our room. Great service!
Ideal forca short stay
All very disappointing tiny room. Bathroom not suitable. No VIP. Offered 1 breakfast only on day of departure.
Charming Accomodation
Staff were very helpful with directions, recommendations and assistance that we needed. Charmingly eclectic providing us with the unique experience that we wanted. Very comfortable and well-furnished. The only thing to be aware of is that there is no lift, but staff were always willing to help with luggage and went out of their way to see that we enjoyed the stay.
Fab find close to St. Pancras
Super impressed with our room! We were on the 3rd floor, so not for the feint hearted, but definitely worth it. We had a view of the green, leafy Argyle Square. Air con was super efficient, attention to detail in the rooms was perfect. Literally over the road from St Pancras, we dropped off our bag hours before check i and were offered coffee/juice and use of the restrooms before we went out to explore. Staff were super friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again!
We had a wonderful stay. The hotel is very trendy and clean. We like how close this is to the train station. We had a trip in Eurostar and wanted to be able enjoy a couple of days in London, but also wanted it to be convenient to just get our bags and go when it was time to leave. This was a great location for that purpose. It was a very quiet neighborhood, close to some good restaurants. Our room was very spacious, it had everything we needed. We were on the basement lower floor, which had a very nice window with natural light through the small courtyard. One caution, is the stairs are a bit tight, so if you have a lot of luggage, it can get tricky.
Quaint boutique hotel. Convenient to train station. Limited breakfast
The Hotel is 5mins walk from King's Cross station, making it convenient to travel on the tube. But the room was rather small and if have a luggage and staying on the ground floor there is no lift and the stairs are rather small.
The room was well equipped and comfortable. Comfort additions were of good quality. The only thing I would say is it's dark. I was in the underground floor and very little natural light was available. Maybe because there was a plethora of trellising on the windows plus a tree blocking the window. All in aid of privacy is my guess. Ask for a higher floor outward facing window. Otherwise a quirky place to stay.
A great, small hotel
The hotel is in a great location for King's Cross station. I particularly appreciated the friendliness and thoughtfulness of the staff, especially the lady on reception. Thank you. We would definitely come back when the opportunity presents itself.
Tiny room, small bed, not bad. Staff quite friendly. Better hotels out there.
No phone, no clock, no luggage stand, no elevator; but good service and superb continental breakfast.
Location is ideal for mainline stations. Room and furnishings very comfortable. We did not like the way the hotel is advertised on Expedia. Some details are completely wrong and very misleading. There is no restaurant on site, no garden, no picnic area. Reception directs you to another hotel which is inconvenient particularly in Winter. Soundproofing is poor. We were allocated a basement room directly below the main entrance corridor from which every footfall was clearly audible.
Good
The room has a unique design that I really like. I have been to london twice before and this has been the best place I have stayed at so far. Its in a great location for transportation and food close by. The hotel also made me feel safe by automatically locking the outside door after a certain time and you need to buzz in. Staff was very helpful and kind. Room smelled AMAZINGGGGGG and the free coffee tea and water is an amazing touch. My only recommendation is to add a small wash cloth to the room. Thats all I would say was missing but other than that, I will definitely be returning there again.
Great Experience at The Gyle
The staff was welcoming upon arrival and remained so throughout our trip. They allowed early check-in, gave us recommendations and were extremely helpful. The room was a good size, got amazing light and was comfortable. Great place to stay!
Small hotel. Interesting decor. No real bar or dining of note. No warm breakfast. Noisy room neighbours. Narrow stairs, no elevator. Cleaning supplies blocking the hallway Very nice and helpful check in staff
Staffs are nice and helpful. Do note that their house keeping service only available from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. Room is quite small, but essentials are available inside the room, clean and comfortable stay. Did an upgrade to the vault room, the washroom is very cold during winter season, no heater available. Overall, it's a pleasant stay. Walkable distance to train station. Not much food option available around the hotel, but it's convenient to get uber food.
Everything was absolutely wonderful except no lift and I was on the 3 rd floor with bags I just wish I knew before hand
Not restful
The hotel is over 3 floor's with no lift, so don’t bring lots of luggage . We were in a room on the third floor which was ok, but the aircon unit, either on or off, made tremendous noise throughout the night so neither me or my partner slept well. We needed to use noise cancelling headphones just to get some peace
Outstanding
Outstanding. Service , cleanliness, spacious, comfortable, absolutely the best hotel I have stayed in London.
difficult climb
Walking up 3 flights of stairs with luggage wasn't very convenient
Such a great hotel in the perfect location for walking or easy access to the Tube. Our breakfast that was included was top notch and the staff at the hotel was very friendly! Will definitely stay here again.
Well appointed boutique hotel with great service. On property staff were friendly and helpful. Great VIP Access experience
Lovely room with friendly and helpful staff - very quaint hotel
Great stay
Brilliant stay at the Gyle. Hotel was lovely with everything you need to make you feel welcome. The only thing that I would mark it down on was that the room we had, the hot water wasn't very hot. More just warm, which was a little disappointing when wanting a red hot shower. But overall brilliant and beautiful hotel.
Hidden Gem.
From walking into the hotel it felt calm and relaxing. We were checked in by the kind lady who couldn’t do enough. Our room was number 21 and felt really cosy. It’s one of the comfiest beds I have stayed in and it was really clean and modern. Would definitely stay here again and excellent value for money. Great location near to Kings Cross and places to eat and drink.
Damp "old wet towels" smell from bathroom.
amazing service! thank you for the recommendations for food and entertainment. the showers were awesome :) and the location can’t be beat. steps away from kings cross station, so convenient!!
Not the place for a good night’s sleep
We were unfortunately very underwhelmed by the Gyle. Much like the Megaro (which is part of the same group) it’s style over substance. A lot of thought has gone into the decor, at the expense of the fundamental guest experience. We had a ‘junior king suite’ which was just a double room with an unusable sitting area separated from the bedroom by a bathroom. The bed was small with a squeaky frame. The mattress was either old or cheap, so when the other person moves you can’t help waking up. It had a noticeable dip in the middle. The bedding was dusty and terrible for allergies. The room itself was incredibly noisy too. You could hear every toilet flush or footstep from upstairs, and guests coming and going all night. We were woken at 7am by the laundry truck too. Overall, we slept horribly and won’t be back. The location is good and staff are friendly. Breakfast didn’t look appealing.
Great location and very pleasant hotel. Room was only accessible via stairs, so be forewarned. My shower did leak on the floor however, so that was a bit inconvenient. Wouldn't recommend this room for more than one person, as the bathroom was basically next to the bed!
Central, nice decor, spacious compared to others in the area
Hidden Gem of a hotel
We had a night away in London for Christmas, this hotel is in a superb location about a 1minute walk from St Pancras station, but situated in a quiet road away from the hustle and bustle. The hotel is very quirky and feels very luxurious, the rooms are decorated brilliantly with very comfortable beds, a fantastic shower, coffee and tea making facilities, water and toiletries all provided. This hotel feels like a hidden gem right in the centre of Kings Cross.
Great hotel, lovely comfy beds. Staff were excellent
Delightful
Such a lovely well curated and comfortable hotel!! Excellent value and we had our own tree fern too! Highly recommend
A very nice place to stay. Excellent attention from staff - all staff members are polite and we were treated with care. We were always sure that if a problem ever arose then we would be looked after in any way possible. Fantastic location - great links to all areas of London, a very convenient spot. The complimentary coffee was a wonderful surprise addition. The interior is unlike any other, unique and spectacular with a gorgeous colour scheme! It certainly stands out from the crowd with the option of having your own private outdoor space - a rare thing in London! My only complaint (and I am being incredibly fussy here) is that there were no coat hooks within the room so it was a difficult task trying to keep my long coat off the floor - however, everything else about the room far outshone this minor flaw. A very fair price for the amazing features you can experience! If I visit London in the future then The Gyle will be my first choice of accommodation without a doubt.
Very good
Great hotel in the heart of Kings Cross. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We would definitely stay again and recommend to all our friends.
Lovely friendly staff and modern rooms
Nice vibes! Old hotel that has been modernized. Clean and comfortable. Very convenient location close to King's cross tube station
Fall off a train straight into a gem of a hotel
Lovely hotel in a great peaceful location. Room was perfect for our stay and staff very friendly and helpful.
Ollie at the front desk/bar was a friendly bloke. Lots of stairs up to the room but it was really nice! Great location.
Incredible property would definitely stay here again!
Inadequate and misold
The location is great for King’s Cross but not the nicest late at night. The bed was a standard even though on hotels.com it said king. The plug socket didn’t work in the bathroom and you need to keep pressure on the plug to make it work. The telecoms was not charged so couldn’t call to reception. Outside light flickered. Limescale in the shower. The kettle lead didn’t reach the sockets so had to have it on the floor. Not worth £355 a night.
Like: very quirky, different, staff, ease of access to central town, vaulted bathroom Dislike: no gluten-free bread & cereal at breakfast
A wonderfully designed boutique property with spacious bedrooms and highly attentive staff. The location is really convenient for getting around London albeit like most train stations in large cities there’s a seedy element to it. The bed was comfortable and the room well equipped with a slightly eclectic style. We really enjoyed our stay and recommend this venue.
Steer clear! Located right near the train station with a rougher crowd. Exit the front of the hotel and it was frightening at night. Its across the street from a rough park that was occupied what one can only assume to be homeless and druggies. Police were across the street detaining people. We were with kids and this place was awful. Very dissapointing.
The staff was very accommodating, the room was very nice, the lobby/bar area was great. Only issue was the shower, trying to keep the water from running out when you open the door.
Nice hotel, very helpful and welcoming staff. Our room felt a little tired, air con was pretty ineffective. Laundry was right next to our room and the door was constantly slamming waking us up first thing
We enjoyed our stay. Our room was very small, but comfortable. Breakfast was much better than expected. Location is near rail stations, and some construction. Really nice, newer area just North of rail stations.
Over delivered at a reasonable cost A+
Short business stay, but received a warm welcome. Room was really comfortable and in good condition. Continental breakfast included in the room rate was excellent. Quality not quantity, not that there was not sufficient to have a great breakfast.
Excellent - friendly staff and super location
Rooms are nice and efficient, but walls and ceilings are paper thin. Should be prepared that your upstairs or next door neighbors might roll in and be quite loud.
Overall nice hotel and friendly staff. The room did smell a bit like smoke (the smoke smell was masked with cleaning chemicals but it was still there). This was disappointing as I expect a non-smoking room to be completely non-smoking.
The way hotels should be
This is an exceptionally well run boutique hotel. The way it should be done! Whilst it is a continental style breakfast the choice and quality is very high.
