Dressed up like a 5 star

Dressed up like a five star without understanding of what 5-star service is. My least favorite experience at a 5 star. Pros Dressed up staff; nice looking rooms Good food and service at restaurant Cons No help taking bags to room at 8.30pm; had to drag our 4 bags by ourselves. First night room air-con not working so slept in a sweltering room with no air circulation; second day they wanted us to try the same room again. Did not change room till I insisted on it. Heard another guest complaining about the same problem in their room. Lifts rattle and shake. feels unsafe. Very Slow Internet connection. Asked for 40 min addition to check out time after a 4 day stay; instant response was 20 pounds for every additional hour. Guest getting treated differently by staff as you walk in. Distinct impression from staff that skin colour matters for level of service.

Good experience but not sure I'd consider it 5 star worthy. Glad we stayed on a deal. I'm sure the hotel would have moved us if we'd have asked but as we were only there to sleep, it was fine.

Wonderful anniversary experience

The hotel customer service was excellent! From check in to check out absolutely nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff we encountered. We were given complementary Prosecco with our meals. What a fantastic way to spend our anniversary, we will definitely be back.

Parking is definitely an issue. Valet wasn’t available. Room and bathroom are VERY small and pretty noisy.

Excellent stay and service. They allowed us to check in early at no extra charge. Very comfortable bed and spacious room. Centrally located, nice walk from the new train station and close to downtown. Also nice extra touches like chocolates on the pillow! :)

Good location for Xmas market

Was a nice hotel and would recommend it as generally it was nice, clean, comfy & well located for the Xmas market. Downside was the aircon wasn’t working & the room was very warm and they said they would get it sorted but never did. I believe they probably don’t want to turn it on because of cost but don’t want to say! I was disappointed that for a five star hotel the hairdryer didn’t have a nozzle on the end. Small thing I know!

Great location. Lovely hotel- lots of finishing touches- chocs at bed time, nice toiletries, perfect fluffy towels. Great to have a big bath and large walk in shower too! Staff v helpful.

This is a quality hotel and all about service. Location is excellent.

For some reason allocated an accessible room, bizarrely it was on the highest floor and the furthest from the lift.

Great hotel with lovely staff in both reception and the bar. Great city views from room. Room was excellent and modern with coffee machine and a great shower.

Great location in walking distance of shopping, hotels, bars, and restaurants. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The breakfast selection variety and food quality was exceptional, and the service was excellent. Overall, a very nice stay at The Fitzwilliam Belfast.

Excellent, classic hotel near city center and walkable from the Belfast Central train station. Very friendly staff, particularly the bellmen, who also act as concierges of sorts. Our room was comfortable and relatively large for a city hotel. Lots of bars and restaurants within 5 minutes, along with shopping and convenience stores. Highly recommended.

Maybe there are gremlins in the building

Myself and three friends booked four rooms for an overnight stay. Check in was fine. However, the smoke alarms went off at 3:30 and again at 5:30. Our television turned itself on at 6:00. One of our friends bedroom light wouldn’t turn off. Service couldn’t correct the problem. They slept with a pillow covering their faces. Another friends hair dryer didn’t work and her safe was opened when she was out. Our other friend found his bed was very uncomfortable. This was all from one nights stay. We booked four rooms and each had a different issue. We didn’t get a simple apology for the smoke detectors going off multiple times disrupting all of our sleep.

Staff was awesome. Over the top service. Hotel lobby and rooms were lovely Turndown service did an amazing turn down and was a grand surprise one evening when we came back.

Checking in was easy and efficient. The front desk staff was helpful in ordering us a taxi for an early morning flight. The room was lovely, really enjoyed the oversized bath towels.

We had the mist amazing night here, the staff went above and beyond, from the reception team, bar staff to the staff in the breakfast area. Great selection for breakfast, rooms immaculate and all the finishing touches were 1st class. Ended the night with beautiful cocktails and was provided with a fee nibbles also. Hotel is prime location for all the main tourist attractions would highly recommend

Beautiful hotel with wonderful accommodations

Brilliant hotel in a great location. Well equipped, spacious and clean. Staff were all really nice and helpful especially the concierge Pete who was fantastic. Pete spent time with us giving us recommendations, pointing out where places are etc which was fab. I would recommend this hotel and i would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed the beautiful room, the small touches such as chocolates. The lovely breakfast and would go back again to stay. The staff doing breakfast were very friendly and courteous.

Only reason 4/5 for area was a lot of roadworks going on around the hotel, so nothing the hotel can do about that

Stylish hotel, very good location. Good service, nice amenities in room - cafetiere was lovely with good quality coffee. Hallways quite noisy from rooms - noise seems to travel so could hear hallway clearly from bed. Mirrors slightly tarnished but overall decor quirky and stylish. Quite dark decor so a little bit challenging for doing makeup - would maybe benefit from a lit mirror by desk in room. Sometimes a wait for lifts but no real drama. Would be good to have a toilet brush but otherwise well-stocked bathroom. Overall a very pleasant stay.

The hotel was in a good location and we were able to walk to all the places we wanted to visit. We had a family room on the third floor which was very spacious. The bathroom was very nice.

The hotel entrance is blocked by construction, so we had to park a block away and struggle with our bags just to enter the hotel, not disclosed. and upon checkout, the hotel gave us 3 of our 4 bags and we had to take the taxi back to get the 4th bag. Very poor door staff the whole time we were there

Lovely clean, comfortable hotel with attentive staff.

The staff was efficient and very helpful. The rooms were nice and clean. I had issues checking in with the room chage for incidentals. They charged it instead of a hold so I needed to get a refund when we left. The alarm was faulty and we were ousted from bed for an hour. Lastly the bar was very expensive and the drinks were terrible. I really like to have a beverage in the bar when we come in for the evening. Overall a nice hotel but not worth the price. It should have been a nicer stay.

Fabulous Room.

Gavin took amazing care of us. From taking care of our luggage to our car. Plus he booked a blacktop cab tour for us. He was wonderful!!! The gym was lacking. Far too small! Over all an amazing place to stay!!!

Super hotel, the best location to reach all the sights. Round the corner from bus depot to get to the airport. Two brilliant pubs down the road and the tour company for trip to Giants Causeway is also on the same road . Definitely would recommend

Beautiful hotel near city center. One of the nicest and classiest hotels we have stayed in during our visits to Europe. The staff was amazing and the room had a fabulous shower and charming spacious feel. We would definitely recommend to anyone.

The hotel and staff were wonderful. We arrived after a flight that morning and it was so comforting to have a great nights rest. There was mention off on onsite parking but there was construction going on outside the property and so we didn’t see any onsite parking. However there is a parking garage right down the block and the hotel discounted the parking cost. Great hotel.

The hotel is in a great location, near restaurants, shopping and attractions. The service is great, friendly and polite staff. The hotel restaurant food is delicious. Everything is great except the bathroom, not functional at all; no shelves or counter or hooks. I didn’t have a place to put my skincare products or my clothes in the bathroom when showering. Getting out of the shower I had to reach to the other side of the bathroom for my towel.

This is a fabulous hotel, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The food was superb, the room was excellent, roomy, clean but the best thing about our stay was the staff. Every one of them our lovely cleaning lady, the lovely lady who came & prepared our bedroom in the evenings (and brought chocolates) the dining room staff especially the gentleman from Nepal who always took time to talk to us, the reception staff, concierge all were so efficient, professional warm and friendly. I marked it foen very slightly as there is not alot you can do when a drill is digging up the pavement outside! This was such a lovely stay we genuinely couldn't find any fault.

Gem in a Great Location

Hard to find gems like the hotel. Beautifully appointed. Clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. The extra touches make this place perfect. Who actually provides Turndown Service!! Just lovely!

Great Hotel

Great hotel. Staff was excellent with a great on site bar. Room was very nice although the water was extremely hot. It was hard to take a shower due to how hot it was.

Great location, walkable, modern

We stayed in 4 different hotels across Ireland on our stay and this was our favorite. Pete at the front door was extremely helpful finding out how to navigate the city and suggested our favorite dining options of the trip.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Valet parking was a nice amenity since we had a car. The room was nicely laid out and very comfortable. Room service in the morning for coffee and pastries was great. My only complaint is the bathroom hsd a very small shelf for toiletries for two people.

Classy hotel. The staff, facility, and restaurant bar were top notch. Probably one of, if not the nicest place I’ve ever stayed during my travels. I’m not going to judge a city based upon one night but the police could probably have a little more presence in the downtown area, packs of juveniles in little gangs were roaming and causing problems for people. I know that’s every city these days.
