20 minutes walk to the city. Cute old room; not so sound proofing, squeaky floors, careful touching/using anything. Late check-in was fine. Entrance is on a different or back of the street or some sort.. Our Uber driver knew the inn so he knew to go around, otherwise we would have been lost at midnight in the dark. Luggage storage was strange; they offer it just to put it at a corner of the living room without any attendance. They were bothered they had to store our luggage and wait for us to pick it up. It was a strange experience - perhaps I was expecting a little more for an average bnb place. Definitely not worth $350 a night.
Check in was awesome and very accommodating as we were late. The inn was very clean and everyone was friendly. The bed is important to us and we felt that it was old and needed to be update. Also the tv was small and the audio was not clear. A minor detail but if you want to just chill in your room it’s a bit frustrating. We were on the third floor so just a note that there isvno elevator and the stairs a steep. Overall a pleasant stay and would consider staying here again.
It was a beautiful old house with antique furnishings. Lots of nice decorations and little touches that made for a great experience. We had a bedroom and sitting room which we thoroughly enjoyed. However, you may have to go up one or two floors to your room with no elevator. I did notice anyone offering to carry your bags
One of the most elegant and carefully considered B&B's we have ever stayed at. Beautifully adorned throughout with perfect touches and stunning original designs, we couldn't believe our luck to have been able to stay for not one, but two nights. This property has been well maintained, is welcoming (especially when you return at night -- I won't spoil the lit-up surprise!), and the breakfast in the morning was wonderful. I did miss the tiny extras offered at other B&B's (an evening snack/treat, for example) and this can be hard to find if you aren't looking carefully (it's set back from the road by a sign that is easy to miss, especially in the dark), but once you're there, you are a welcome guest and treated with terrific care.
The house is a heritage property built in 1889 that has been well maintained and has wonderful antique furnishings. The breakfasts were delicious and varied over our one week stay. Access to downtown is convenient and walkable as is the boardwalk along the ocean. The owners and staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Great place to stay, very accommodating, very original, excellent breakfast
This is an old converted house. Bathroom nice but room musty and A/C very noisy. Staff a bit remote
Beautiful old home converted to a BnB. Staff was excellent with lots of info about the area. Our suite was large and very comfortable. Breakfast was exceptional. We would definitely stay again.
Hosts are very nice and helpful. My left ankle was injured, host helped my husband took all luggages to upstairs room. Next day he gave me a herb pad. Room is ver clean, tide and neat. Beautiful house, very convenient to access all restaurants, attractions. Highly recommended 👍👍👍.
The hosts were most gracious and accommodating. The breakfasts were a gourmet delight. A relaxing and memorable stay.
The check in attendant was super helpful with maps snd suggested PEI drive routes. She made us feel very welcomed.
Beautiful Victorian older home with lots of charm, very clean, AND excellent breakfast served! Would stay again if in area!!
Very nice and quiet. Great room and host is super friendly
It was a nice building but the smells in the room was the problem to me. Didn't sleep well the night. I guess I'm not a big fan of this kind of property. BTW, they charge the room rater based on the people not like in the normal hotel which is by room. I had to pay extra for the two little kids.
We loved the Cunard room, the service at breakfast, and the garden. The Inn is very quiet and well situated.
Really wonderful and unique property and nice owners
Very quaint old inn
Great property, close to downtown.
Overall a good place with friendly staff. Some things a bit dated from 80s but overall a good place to stay.
Me and my girlfriend had an amazing time in roses room on the 3rd floor. We will be back
Friendly and helpful host. Nice room and beautiful old house.
Great service and comfortable accommodations.
I would go back to PEI just to be able to stay in this fantastic antic vintage house. Very beautiful and mesmerizing. Also extremely clean. Thank you.
Charming property in a convenient location.
Beautiful well-maintained historical home. We were delighted to find such a gem. It made our first stay in Charlottetown even more special.
Great stay at this Victorian property- feels like you’re being taken back in time. Property is clean and in a convenient location- easy access to downtown.
Clean and quiet. Centrally located as a home base. Enjoyed our stay.
Century home beautiful decor
This is a lovely little little rooming house. No bells and whistles. Comfortable rooms done in Victorian style. No restaurant, pool or spa. The TV is old and small. It does have decent wifi. It is a 20 minute walk from downtown. The bathtub is a large old fashioned footed with a hand held shower attachment which is ok but not great.
The bedding is horrible. Towels smell. Unfortunately a pretty old house but could be better. Breakfast was very nice
A little hard to find in the dark but overall good place to stay
Beautiful property with cute and romantic interior! Great breakfast! One of the kind! Very friendly staff! Thank you bery much for making our stay so special!
Beautiful home, and very comfortable!
Beautiful inside and out. Felt like you were back in time. Staff was so friendly.
Lovely heritage home with onsite parking. Owners trying very hard to keep everything very clean but bathroom was musty; carpets stained and bedding that very much needs replacing.
Lovely heritage inn. Great staff. VERY clean.
A charming place to stay
We had a wonderful stay. The building was so interesting and the hosts were friendly but not overly so. Our room was on the top floor and I felt like I was in a cozy princess room! If stairs are t your thing, this may not be the spot for you, or request a ground floor room. The breakfast was light but delicious, served on beautiful China with silver flatware.
The owner was very personable and the accommodations were amazing.
Loved the ambiance of the property. Room was at the top of the house and was very quiet. Within walking distance to Victoria park. Had a mixup about breakfast choices so we did not eat here.
This felt like it was out in the quiet country, yet it was just a few minutes drive into the downtown area. Although everything was clean, there was a bit of a mildew smell that ought to be addressed. But our room was large, well equipped and very comfortable. We stayed in 6 different hotels during our Canadian vacation, but this one was our favorite.
Great location close to the shops but on a beautiful quiet street. We booked the Peake Suite on the 3rd floor. The suite was larger than we expected with plenty of room for our family of four to spread out, it has a big comfortable queen in a separate room from two twins and also a kitchen. It was quiet, and clean, the beds were comfortable and the ac worked great. The staff was friendly. The suite is a 3rd floor walk with no elevator so if you have big luggage or mobility issues I would choose a different room. The hallway smelled liked cologne but luckily our room did not. Some of the carpets need updating and decor could use help (orange shag from the 80s and tacky kittens and cupids mixed with antiques). But I still recommend it. The breakfast was perhaps not worth it but the coffee was good.
We did NOT do the full breakfast service, so can't comment on that. Our greeting was just OK, we have experienced a much more friendly and personable greeting in other visits to other B & Bs. Our departure discussion was similar, and we were not engaged with personal discussion like "how was your stay". The room was very clean, which we greatly appreciated.
A really unique property in a lovely part of town. I would thoroughly recommend this as a fabulous place to stay in Charlottetown
Elmswood is tucked away quiet and peaceful. The staff we plesant not overly interactive and the furnishings were very nice. The rug had some stains but over all nice place to stay.
Very historic house. The location was great.
Great old house with really cool rooms. Owners are very friendly My only suggestion is updating the shower. The large claw foot tub looks cool, but the shower curtain envelopes you when you shower
historical property
The smell in the house was horrible. The room upstairs we got had a low ceiling so if you’re tall you likely bump your head so we asked to move downstairs. However, even it was the same bed we were asked to pay more for the room. The doors were to hard to open and close. The all house should be renovated.
Comfy bed and a whirlpool tub I wish I could take with me. Love how much of the historical home seemed to be authentic
Great location close to downtown. Friendly hosts.
Very cute
Super cute accommodations! I loved my room and exploring the old house. It was very quiet, I couldn’t hear anyone else in the other rooms. Great proximity to town for exploring. One of my favourite places I’ve ever stayed
We love the location and the feel of this beautiful Victorian Home, however our room needed a good cleaning, especially the curtains in the bath/shower which had black mold on the bottom.
Great character.
Liked the style, it’s unique look.
Classic old looking estate, very cool!
Our suite was fantastic with comfortable furniture and bed, well lit, plenty of room, spa tub in addition to shower, mini fridge, and coffee maker. An easy walk to downtown. Friendly hosts.
Interesting property. A bit more care to cleaning would be good. Takeout from previous guests was still in the fridge, spiders near the bathroom light by the bath. The light in the bath area is FULL of dead bugs.... the rest of the room was good. Thank you for hosting us.
The room was very clean and the staff was friendly. However, the house smelled very musty and the curtain/ foliage above the bed was uninviting. The kitchenette being in the bathroom also felt a little unhygienic. Unfortunately the staff did not provide a cot despite asking both nearly a month in advanced and closer to the date. Overall the room was disappointing for this price point
Night in Charlottetown
Enjoyed. Met our expectations.
Not worth
Horrible room.
The room was awfully dark. The photo showed the room with all the lights on. I didn't realize that it was because the room has almost no natural light. The only window is cramped with a small uncomfortable sofa and air-conditioning machine and a table. No really room to sit comfortably. The refrigerator is in the bathroom because the room is overcrowded. It was very disappointing. All the advertisements and the print outs in Hotel.com show the other rooms, which were quite beautiful. That is why other guests gave a good score. I was unlucky to be assigned to this cave. My room was horrible. I cannot recommend this place for the false advertisement. I will never stay there again.
The Elmwood is a beautiful bed and breakfast with decorations that take you back in time. It is very well situated in a beautiful neighbourhood and only a short drive to the water front. We stayed at The Victoria’s room. It is a cute, good size room for two people. The only downside is the tub which is pretty high. Overall, staying at The Elmwood was a great choice!
Beautiful property. The family suite is great. Definitely recommend.
The image on your questionnaire has been optically enlarged, this is a negative point as would be many of the other items. Manipulation of information by the agency does not help the guests. People running this property need to learn how to treat guests. Décor is overdone.
Lovely building and grounds, staff receptive and friendly. Very clean and comfortable.
Very nice heritage building. Great experience, if you love heritage. Great location. Steps from Victoria park and walking distance to downtown.
location ok not great a little noisy
Couldn't have had a nicer time! We stayed in the library room and it was fantastic, all the amenities made the experience feel luxurious and the bathtub was massive! And they provided bubble bath! Walking distance to downtown but tucked away in a quiet place, staying here was a definite highlight of our trip.
Lovely
Great service. Great breakfast. Enjoyed our stay. Recommend staying in a room on the second floor. A lot of steps to the third floor!
Amazing Inn
Really beautiful historical building located at walking distance from downtown. Will be back!
Good location and very neat interior.
Beautiful historic Inn. Great service with friendly and attentive staff. Great breakfast.
What a fantastic heritage B&B! We wanted a unique experience in Charlottetown & we definitely found that at the Elmwood Heritage Inn. We saw some complaints online about the Inn’s suburban location, but as two able-bodied 30-somethings, we found the Inn conveniently located. It was a 20min walk to restaurants & nightlife, & 5min to Victoria Park. Parking onsite was free & easy to access. The Inn has been lovingly maintained in an old fashioned style. Some of the amenities and decorations seem somewhat outdated (peeling wallpaper, etc) but that is fine considering the historic nature of the Inn. The bed was VERY comfortable, the room was spacious & had its own AC unit so we could ensure the suite was the right temperature for us. The internet connection was reliable & fast, & there was a tv with a good selection of channels in our room. Although it is an old building, we happily couldn’t hear any of the other guests in their rooms. We were admittedly not a fan of the bath towels, which were decorative, not soft, & uncomfortable to use, so we ended up switching over to using our beach towels, which was fine by us. And separate towel for makeup removal was provided. Cotton balls, Q-Tips were also available in the bathroom. The breakfast was SPECTACULAR! The recipes were well executed, & beautifully presented. I LOVED our breakfasts, but my bf was bummed that he didn’t get to choose what he ate (from a menu) - too bad for him! The hosts were friendly, helpful & accommodating!
The Elmwood is a beautiful property and very well run. The location is excellent, in a quiet neighborhood yet close to the main part of downtown Charlottetown. The staff were excellent - friendly and helpful at every turn. Our room was clean and wonderfully decorated. The breakfasts were inventive and delicious. The Elmwood is a place we would definitely stay at again!
Victorian Experience
Nice Victorian home artfully put together. Our room was on the second floor and was nice and comfortable. Bathroom was small but worked out okay. Our breakfast was very good and Vickie our server was fantastic. Thanks Vickie and to the wonderful young lady who checked us in. Only negative was the air did not work great and was an older model and was a little noisy....
Authentic Victorian home, in beautifully kept/restored charm. All details even down to the china on which the ample breakfasts were served. A bit difficult to climb the narrow stairs upstairs if one has a large or heavy bag, but since we stayed three nights that wasn’t a problem. The Victorian Room has a small claw foot tub, which could be a challenge for older folks.
Lovely old house with very good hosts. Recommended
Young lady that greeted us was awesome, friendly and informative. The other staff member was un concerned and seemed not interested. Considering the money we were paying, you would think that at lease one would ask what you wanted for breakfast. The building itself was nice but needs for care. I can only judge from two others properties like the Elmwood Inn.
Amazing place to stay
Our stay at Elmwood Heritage Inn was wonderful! Staff are very attentive and helpful. Breakfast was absolutely delicious every day. I would definitely stay here again.

Great place
Amazing property and such a lovely breakfast in the morning. Next time I’ll pack a bit lighter for the two flights of stairs but I will definitely be back!
This is a lovely old home that's been nicely updated with new bathrooms, usb connections in the bedrooms, etc. Breakfast is good and the house has an old world charm to it. The house is set back from the road on a shared driveway, so a little confusing to find at first. The property has nice trees and there's a place to sit outside. Our room also had a little sitting area, which was great for reading or watching tv (thought we were out exploring and didn't use it for that.) Charlottetown is lovely - small, but nice little shops and beautiful old homes to walk around and look at, etc. Overall, we loved this B&B and Charlottetown.
Good stay but need to change a bath tub
Staffs are good. One of two nights, Victoria room has a bath tub not good to use.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is decorated for the period and we enjoyed staying in such an old heritage home. There are only stairs but it’s just two flights and we knew about this beforehand so it wasn’t a problem. we are younger and had our luggage in travel backpacks which helps. My husband sprained his ankle right before our arrival so he had to hop up and down all those stairs! The breakfast was good and the beds were comfortable. The shower drained slowly and it was hard to find an outlet to plug in our phone. It was about a 15 minute walk to the center of town which was fine. Would recommend.
Beautiful inn with warm and friendly staff, walking distance to downtown Charlottetown
The house and furnishing charm guests. From the plush robes (genuinely the nicest I have seen) to the table settings, each touch seems perfect for the setting. The staff meet every dietary request artfully. They also accommodated my need to launder some clothes by doing it for me. Plus, they were so gracious and friendly. The house is set so far in back of the lot that street noise is non-existent, but some GPS apps send you to the street behind the lot. Because the house is three stories, luggage needs to be toted up a series of stairs. Victorians did not build their houses to meet the mobility needs of everyone.
Excellent breakfast and hosts. Some rooms need a bit of updating and maintenance.
very nice good people nearby the Queen way rd beautiful house
Everything about our stay here was excellent. We stayed on the third floor, which means stairs, but that was fine for us and our room was more spacious than expected with a nice little kitchen. Breakfast was very good, parking was right at the front door, and the B&B is easy to find from the highway. The centre of town is 10-15 minutes away, but I walked it easily. A good spot.
Vacation on P.E.I.
We were on vacation. My husband and I love staying in B&Bs. The food and service were exceptional. Pretty drive around the island looking at light houses and visiting the house that inspired Anne of Green Gables.
Excellent stay. The property and staff are fantastic.
A Delightful Stay in a Heritage Home
This is a heritage building that has been tastefully remodelled into a B&B. We were greeted at the door by Viola and her helper, Lily. They gave us a tour of the parts of the house we would be using. Our room was on the third floor. The stairs would be a problem for anyone with mobility issues but my husband and I, who are active seniors, we're okay on them. Breakfast consisted of coffee or tea, juice, fruit, a beautifully presented main course, and then a little bit of "dessert". Lily served us our breakfasts. She was an absolute delight and all the guests fell in love with her. At the breakfast table and also in the second floor common room, we were able to chat with other guests. Our room was quiet and the bed comfortable. Parking was ample. Location was good. We were able to walk into town.
We enjoyed our stay at this large, Victorian style house set in a quiet, suburban neighborhood up a small private driveway. We booked this reservation through Expedia and our total rate was $164 (American) including taxes. We stayed in the "Nurse's Room" which was very quaint and pleasant, though it was up on the 3rd floor, worth considering for anyone with mobility/health issues. The bed was comfortable, the room clean, and the air conditioner worked well and was fairly quiet. The windows opened for fresh air, which was a nice option to have. The breakfast was very good the two mornings we were there, and was cooked individually for us. The young women staff members who were pleasant asked which 30 minute time slot we wanted for breakfast (7:30, 8:00, etc.) which was a great idea, instead of everyone having to eat at the same time. We enjoyed some pleasant conversations with other guests but never met the owners. One thing to note is that this B n B t is about a 15-20 minute walk to the downtown area so plan accordingly for going out for meals or activities in Charlottetown. You can drive there in about 5 minutes which we did a few times. The downtown has plenty of parking spots, though plan to have Canadian coins, since there is no kiosk to accept credit card payments. There is a parking garage, and you can also park a block or two away from the main street for free 2 hour parking. If going to PEI, consider staying at the Elmwood Heritage Inn.
Quaint and friendly Inn, walk into town
Beautiful late 19th century home. Easy to park, quick check in. Our room was on the third floor, winding staircase. Room was quiet, clean and very quaint. Nice walk into town or to the park. Small but comfortable front porch to sit and enjoy coffee or cocktail. Breakfast varied each day, always very good. Everyone very friendly and helpful. We will stay here again.
Nice accessability to all Charlottetown attractions.
The property has a convenient location near Charlottetown. The breakfast was wonderfully served by a gracious host. The food was delicious. Our room was beautiful and very clean. Our room was on the second floor and we found it difficult, due to our age, to get our bags up the curving stairs. The staff did offer to help. I have no problem recommending this B & B.
The owner and staff made you feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The home is beautiful, the breakfast was wonderful and the stay could not have been better.
Very lovely place and wonderful hosts! We stayed in the Peake suite. It was well-maintained and very clean. The beds were comfortable. Fast internet (always a bonus). Breakfast was exceptional - classical table setting, freshly squeezed orange juice, and delicious fruit compote and pancakes. The Inn is located in a quiet neighbourhood, about a 15-minute walk from the downtown core.
Perfect stay: Delicious breakfast, clean, quaint yet modern conveniences

Random selection. Amazing old villa, very Victorian decorations. Some things not working well reflecting age of home. Standard lamp in our room with loose light bulb fitting . Bathroom door handle about to fall off.
