Great Welcome and stay Will return
Excellent friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms. Very nice area
Great welcome from the owners and they put on a late lunch for us. The room was spotless and comfortable with some great views from it especially after the snow had fallen. Very welcoming towards our guests who called to see us and some really good ales on offer. We certainly will be returning here on our visits to Rhayader . A big thank you from Gareth and Carol. .
Perfect location and our hosts and all their staff were fabulous. Breakfast was knockout 👍. Will certainly be staying here again
Lovely hotel oerfect location for visiting family food was lush as well
The owner and staff were very friendly and willing to help with any question or concern we had and were interested in our general well being. We had a lovely time and a lot of fun conversations.
Great place to stay. Good breakfast clean room & nice people.
Excellent Saturday night stay. Room clean, comfortable and bright. Slept well. Food good friendly staff. Would recommend
Great place to break a journey across country, with meals served until 9pm.
Very friendly staff and eager to please. Bathroom a little dated and water pressure low. Great location
Very comfortable and clean with good food.
Fantastic hosts, great food, very clean and tidy 10 out of 10
The property was in the centre of town, so it was perfect for our weekend break.
Staff and owners very friendly. Excellent location to visit the Red Kite santurary.
Positive :: Modern rooms. Negative:: room over looked garden smoking area
A comfortable and friendly hotel, we had excellent dinner and breakfast. Very convenient to explore the Elan Valley
Nice hotel in the centre of Rhayader..
A warm irish welcome. Staff very friendly and a lovely breakfast to boot..Thanks all at the Elan for making my stay a pleasent one...
Good, central location. Lovely and clean. Would have liked more choice for breakfast- continental option very poor.
Friendly and welcoming hosts and staff.
Our stay at the Elan Hotel
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Elan Hotel. Hosts Martin and Iris were extremely helpful as were the rest of the staff. What was most pleasing was that the food was all locally sourced.
The place to stay if you're visiting Elan Valley
Amazing hosts, friendly locals, great bar and a wonderful time.
Great hotel for exploring the Elan Valley
Great hotel, perfect base for cycling, good hearty food and friendly staff. Have stayed before and will stay again.
New Owners are great
the room was small but very well laid out and plenty of room for a couple. Lovely hosts/ owner Martin took extra time to make sure our stay was comfortable. Even after a very busy carnival weekend he and his staff had smiles and great focus on customers. We would recommend this hotel. We enjoyed a great cooked breakfast too.
Visit to Rhayader and the Elan Valley.
Chose the Elan hotel because it had received good reviews and it's location near the centre of Rhayader. We weren't disappointed in either the hotel or the area. The hotel was as described, comfortable clean rooms, good breakfast and very friendly, helpful staff. Located within the town centre and a short drive to the Elan Valley. Will stay there again.
Great location
Great location, good value for money. Room a little on the small size.
Reopened
The Elan hotel has just reopened and has new owners, we stayed over the Easter weekend, we were the first guests and we were made very welcome and were well looked after.
THE PLACE ISN'T EVEN TRADING!
Where do we start.. THIS HOTEL CEASED TRADING 25/1/18 DO NOT BOOK. We had a trip booked to elan valley and needed a room, we booked here on 30th Jan 2018. We had a great day , went to hotel and it was closed, we spoke to the lady and she said they had a gas leak- we spoke to numerous business in the town and everyone said they had closed down. The hotel might be beautiful, but, why are they still taking bookings? 7 other people exactly the same as us apperently, all booked but no where to stop. 2 hours we were stranded 100miles from home, no other rooms locally until a kind landlord pulled strings for us at another property. Elan valley is worth the visit, elan hotel definitely not. This ruined my birthday surprise.
Everyone in our party really enjoyed the stay at this hotel
A lovely Hotel
Great value for money hotel in a lovely part of Wales. staff very attentive and food excellent
Rhayader Elan Hotel 24/25 August 2017
Very pleased with this hotel. We seemed to come at a quiet time, which was to our advantage, staff were friendly and helpful, not to mention very attractive. Evening meal was very good and reasonably priced (my standards), and breakfast was full cooked, and/or cereals, juices and coffee. The hotel was refurbished about 18 months ago, so most of the hotel is still looking fresh, rooms were clean with good beds and a great shower/loo. There is limited parking right outside if you are lucky, otherwise there is free remote parking about a 5 min walk away. We were a bit worried about this, but everything was ok. We spoke to the hotel staff directly before going, to confirm details, and ensure that we got the rooms we wanted. They were very helpful with this, and everything went smoothly. Local area was surprisingly quiet, but apparently normal for late August. Several pubs to try out, interesting bric-a-brac shop, couple of takeaways and usual utility shops. We would definitely stay again.
Nice hotel in town centre
Mostly positive but toilet seat broken and nowhere to put toiletries in bathroom otherwise very good
Comfortable stay close to Elan Valley attractions
God stop off on our Welsh trip. Decent sized room, tasty food and a friendly welcome.
Mid Wales Visit
The hotel is a pleasant place to stay. Room was clean and comfortable with coffee/ tea making options. The ensuite was good too. We had boooked for breakfast which was lovely. Due to weather, heavy rain, we decided to east dinner in hotel as well. Although there are plenty options to eat nearby am happy to recommend hotel restaurant.
Fantastic
Fantastic room. bed supper comfortable. Room really clean.
Great break
Great location and hotel. The staff extremely friendly and helpful and the food is great value and lovely

excellent situated in a very nice town
Have stayed there many times and have always had satisfactshion
Long weekend
Nice location close to amenities. Room was very clean and comfortable and the bar/restaurant area had a nice sociable atmosphere. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
Excellent value and lovely staff
Perfect for touring.
The hotel is right in town centre and is in an excellent position for touring the area, staff were all great and the breakfast was excellent. The room was very clean and comfortable with good storage, the bathroom was very good and the shower was excellent. Lots of tea sugar etc for a change... lots of hotels now just put bare essentials for one brew a day. The only critisism is condition of the road into the car park but this is by no means major. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel and staff and I will be staying again.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Best hotel in Rhayader.
Spacious en-suite room with an excellent shower and comfortable bed. The food was good and well presented and the staff were cheerful and helpful.
Convenient location central to town. Room small but clean and OK. Access to the car park is very tricky.
Recommend
Nice clean room, good English breakfast, good bar and gastro pub food.
Just a nice place to stay and eat.
A nice thought that when I'd had a hard days work the staff would be friendly and welcoming. The beer and the food both excellent
A rare find
Rarely have I found a hotel with such friendly and accommodating staff. Great sized and well decorated rooms and lovely food - a little gem. Thanks so much for the personal touches, we hope to visit again soon. Tom and Andrew
Elan Hotel
Very enjoyable trip visiting friends and family. The main event was held in the hotel function room. Overall the hotel offered good accommodation with good service. The only minor flaw being a drafty window in our room....but not that bad really.
Newly refurbished hotel in a superb location
Typical of hotels of the area there is no main reception area as the hotel is fronted by a bar and restaurant so checkin is at the bar. Our room was of average size with a decent wardrobe and storage , tastefully decorated and a very comfortable bed . Breakfast was very good serving local produce. Service was a little slow given that we were the only ones taking breakfast but as a small hotel Sunday morning staff would have been limited. This could have been a perfect 10 except for the following points1 tap in bathroom wouldn't full close off so ran constantly as the the soap dispenser. 2 card machine on checkout was working so had to withdraw cask to cover the bill . Apparently this is a common problem in areas where internet signal is poor . 3 table for breakfast was located in a rear restaurant and overlooked the hills but unfortunately a not so tidy rear beer garden. I suspect the refund has yet to extend to the rear of the hotel In balance these are minor observations and we would definitely stay here again . The food in reputed to be very good and I would agree if breakfast was anything to go by so next time i would book for an evening meal . On this occasion we were meeting friends for a meal in another town. Regarding location generally iits located on the Main Street with its own parking to the rear . This is a historic little town and set in the most wonderful landscape all on the doorstep
Cosy Hotel with Welcoming Staff!
We stayed overnight here whilst visiting the Elan Valley and the Red Kite farm.....both amazing and well worth a visit! The staff were friendly and the room, although quite small was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely too and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended!
A great place to stay in the heart of Wales
Great place to stay ~ so friendly and helpful. Great service ~ Highly recommended as a base to explore the amazing landscape of mid Wales.
