Really don't agree with this hotel having a 4 star rating. Not sure how they even got that. The room is nice but a very cold stark design. Even my 13yo son mentioned that the room seemed cold and stark. The hallways are like you're in a bad office building. Stark white walls with bad cheap carpet. Breakfast was ok. Never a doorman or porter to help open the door or assist with anything. I saw a guy one night who sat in a chair staring at his phone. Back two hrs later, he's in the same spot. One front desk person was warm but everyone else seemed disinterested. The area is good for shopping but also very busy. Overall I was disappointed because my expectation was a 4star hotel as advertised and it definitely fell short of that in every way. Luckily I got a good rate on the room or I would have been extremely unhappy. Hospitality lacking greatly, warmth of hotel in general 2 out 5. You also are not able to turn temp below 20C! I like to sleep in a cold room, so that was also extremely frustrating. The walls as mentioned in other reviews are PAPER THIN. So if you happen to get a loud neighbor, good luck!
Place was not very nice. Staff was not friendly.
Great breakfast, rooms are clean with tall ceilings and they are pretty quiet. The neighborhood is great, lots of shopping and restaurants, a perfect launching point to enjoy the tourist sites.
A great property in the heart of Athens. Convenient to everything. Lots of dining options in area. Comfortable and quiet. Would recommend.
Great hotel and place tinsaty
Excellent Hotel
Rxcellent stay. Perfect location to see all the site. Good part of town always felt safe!
Great location, friendly staff, clean, modern
Great location to walk in older part of Athens
The editor hotel in athens
The hotel room was excellent, very roomy and clean. The front desk needs to hire more help. They were very busy and only had one person trying to check several people in and out at the same time.
A gem of a hotel!
Staff was great about storing our bags when we arrived early and between stays. Great area to stay in while enjoying Athens. Very modern and well equipped rooms.
Close to the sites. Friendly staff. Clean.
If you want to be in the middle of the city with restaurants, etc. you will love it!
It is well located for restaurants, bars and souvenir & shopping area. It is also on the direct metro line from the airport and a 4 minute walk from the station so very convenient.
Stylish hotel in Monastiraki, great location, would definitely go back
Great boutique hotel in the heart of Monasteraki, with several dining and shopping options within short walking distance. At the same time, the area is very busy with a lot of car and moped activity, but this noise is not noticeable from the hotel room. The rooms were modern and clean. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Would stay here again.
The appreciated being able to store our luggage when we arrived early and left late. The location was very convenient to the metro.
First of all very good location. Everywhere is walking distance. The staff was friendly. Hotel and the rooms were clean. Room was big and nice. Breakfast was good. There was a smoking area for those like me that doesnt want to smoke on the street. One bad thing was the elevator. It was really scary. It always felt like you can fall anytime. Sometimes the door wouldnt close and the elevator was just jumping. Also the tv was really hard to use and not many channels (that work at least) but I didnt mind that
We really enjoyed our stay here! Beautiful room!
Close to everywhere and lots of restaurants. Hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, no Landry services, bar open for a few hours during weekend only, has leak in the bathroom.
The stay at the Editor was overall good There were several pleasant surprises on the amenities and the personnel that made our stay very pleasant. The remake of a commercial entity into a hotel has a certain charm but comes with handicaps such as the slowest elevator that people must use even to get to the lobby bathroom It is a great way to stay at one of the most busy areas of Athens It is precisely that it is a busy area that makes staying there challenging. Lots of crowds bars etc and the noise persists to the late hours of the night and in our case could be heard in our first floor room until 3 am I would consider staying there again
Location was the best, clean hotel. Rooms were very nice size. Natasha was excellent at the front desk and very helpful. Good housekeeping and excelent breakfast. Bibo provided excellent service at restaurant. Would recommend this property to everyone.
Beautiful stay in Athens in a very accessible neighborhood & a fantastic staff! If the breakfast started before 8AM when excursions start, it would be perfect. Still loved it.
It’s just ok
Great trip to Athens
My stay at The Editor was nothing short of delightful. This lovely, quaint boutique hotel boasts an ideal location, situated close to an array of restaurants and shopping areas. We were able to walk to the Acropolis, which made exploring Athens incredibly convenient and enjoyable. The amenities at The Editor are top-notch. The air conditioning kept us cool and comfortable, while the water pressure in the shower was excellent. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a good night’s sleep after a day of sightseeing. The highlight of our stay was the exceptional service provided by Natasha at the front desk. She went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience possible, making us feel truly welcomed and cared for. Breakfast at The Editor was another standout feature. The elaborate spread, available from 8-12 every day, exceeded our expectations and was a fantastic start to each morning. I highly recommend The Editor to anyone visiting Athens. It truly is a gem of a hotel that offers a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and exceptional service.
Great boutique property in the heart of Athens. Walkable to everything. Excellent service and cleanliness. I’d definitely come here again and highly recommend The Editor!
Convenient location!
The hotel is very modern and clean. Very good staff. The location is very close to all the action in Athens. I would book this hotel again
nice and convenient location.
Center of everything no need for transportation
Front desk staff very knowledgeable about the surrounding area, and breakfast staff extremely welcoming. Stayed here for one night before a cruise. The accommodations were just right. Areas to eat are less than a minute away walk to get last minute items for the cruise. Great water pressure for a nice shower from a nice long day of walking around and enjoying the area. This is a small hotel in terms on limited rooms. Even though I asked for an early check in, I can respect that it was not an option. They did offer us a seat in their cafe area for a couple of hours to pass the time till our room was ready, and the check in process was fast. I would def book here again.
Great service - super friendly
People at front desk and restaurant were supefriendly. Hotel is located near restaurants and tourist area
The only good thing about this hotel was the location. The room smelled like either smoke or mold or some combination. The hotel was not willing to do anything about. It was very humid in the room so everything felt sticky. There was hair in the shower that was not ours! The sofa bed my son slept on was very flimsy. Breakfast was subpar as well. The pictures are misleading by looking clean and modern. I would say you’re better off take a taxi from a hotel outside of monistiraki/plaka area.
The location was by the club and the club is very loud and crowded, it says it in the description of the hotel but did not think it would be that bad since it stayed until 4 AM, but they gave us early check in and the room was clean.
Good location
Location was good. Staff was helpful.
Great litttle find in the heart of Athens. Very modern and very clean. Staff was extremely nice and helpful.
Not overwhelmed
It was fine, cost quite a lot for what we got was my take. It was clean and safe.
Great hotel, location, stylish
Amazing hotel, design is spotless, breakfast is so good! Location is perfect, right in the middle of everything. Service can be better though
Staff were not accommodating when told the shower knob was broken. We were told a tech would be up to fix it. Never was fixed. Staff were treating other guests with special care and attention. Our maid was excellent and kept our room clean
Had a good stay, loved the city & location. Breakfast was special
Great
The perfect place
The Editor hotel is the best place to stay in Athens. The location is close by to all the major attractions. In just 5 minutes you’ll be in Monastraki square. The staff is wonderful. We saw a review saying they are racist but that’s not true at all . They go out of the way to make us feel comfortable. Their breakfast spread is one of the best and you can easily skip breakfast. Everything about The Editor hotel is amazing and perfect.
The hotel great the service and the location is amazing Theres one problem, lots of noise you can hear everything from the room The room house keeping start work at 5 am and you can hear everything they do woke us so early
Good. A bit noisy.
A great hotel right downtown. BUT because it’s downtown you should expect lots of steeet noise. Bars go until 6am on the weekend and you can hear the music in our room. Additionally, the doors / walls aren’t that soundproof so you really can hear your neighbours if they’re kinda noisy. Overall a good boutique hotel.
Clean, modern and very central to most sites. A lot of dining choices steps outside of the hotel that made it convenient.
Excellent location
Clean, spacious rooms in a great location. Walk to everything! the rooms were modern and sleak and the staff was attentive!
The windows are thin and allow all outside noise in. All night long you hear the cars, motorbikes, horns, car alarms, and homeless rummaging through the garbage. The hotel was clean, but the staff was not very accommodating.
Comfortable but soulless
I think this accommodation can barely be classed as a hotel. On arrival we discovered that the ‘restaurant’ is only open for breakfast and the ‘bar’ only open until 3pm for coffee only. It’s in an area with lots of food and drink options to be fair but we arrived late and would have liked a quick bite/drink in the hotel believing it had these facilities. Overall the hotel felt soulless. There was as little welcome from the reception on arrival which felt more like a dark/dingy ticket office than a hotel lobby. The junior suite was a decent size and clean/comfortable. The toilet could be more private. Shower was sort of semi-open to the room. Fine for a couple, maybe not for others. We paid over £200 a night - over priced given lack of facilities and service from staff. Breakfast was good and the staff there friendly at least. I am sure there are many better, more friendly options with some character than this.
Couple September 2023
staff was friendly, rooms were OK and quiet, hotel was close to everything / Monastiraki, Plaka, Sintagma and Kolonaki. Breakfasts were amazing with choice of continental, american and greek. About 45 minutes from the airport depending on time of day.
The only good thing is the location on the Map, in the heart of Athens. But in reality even the location is bad, because it’s where homeless people , drug addicts meet and do their needs in the streets; (even toilet needs) You will be really disgusted in the morning while walking down to monasteri. Or at night while you come back to the hotel… you just feel unsafe, no guards, no security on the main entrance! The room was very noisy: a weird noise coming from the elevator you just cant sleep. Thé television turns on by itself in the middle of the night!!! As if its Hunted?! Think twice before you book a room at this hotel
Decent hotel. Great location. Lots to do see shop. Great access to historic sites. Reception was ok. Bellman was great. Bathrooms updated with nice amenities rooms are large and nicely set up. I would definitely recommend and stay again only complaint is that AC does not drop below 22C
Lovely boutique hotel in great walkable area
The Editor is a boutique hotel just steps away from Monastiraki Square. The area is filled with great restaurants, bars, shops, and views of the Acropolis. The nightlife here is very prominent and this is a perfect spot to stay if you enjoy such things. The hotel staff were very friendly and the room was very spacious with nice décor.
Great location for walking to the various sites, and the hotel is tucked into a side street so it was surprisingly quiet for such a busy area. Low on frills, but perfect if you're looking for a reasonably priced, decent quality place walkable to practically everything. Very close to Monastiraki station, but we ended up walking everywhere. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Great location - a short walk to Monastiraki Square and all the shopping and nearby restaurants. Rooms are comfortable, and breakfast service and staff are excellent. Unfortunately, no evening dining or bar facilities, but there are so many in the area that it really doesn’t matter!
Only good thing about this hotel was the bed and the location. Room was dirty
The temperature in the room the first night was very hot. We called down to inquire and it was cooler within 15 minutes!
Very dirty area around hotel
This is a very nice hotel; front desk staff is lovely. However I hurt myself really badly on the bed, which had a pointy platform sticking out at foot level. Kind of dangerous. Also, housekeeping was lacking, never refilled soap, coffee, or even toilet paper. I had to ask.
The poor cleaner was maybe overwhelmed, a bit forgetful to replace things otherwise ok
Very modern room with comfortable beds & nice open bathroom area. It was a very safe and relaxing atmosphere. The front desk was helpful and very courteous. He offered tips on where to eat and how to access various tourist areas. The breakfast was amazing and offered a large quantity of food for just €15. I would highly recommend this hotel if you were to stay in Athens, and if you want an easy walk to the Parthenon, the Acropolis Museum and the Olympic stadium.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Convenient to all main points particularly to Plaka and Acropolis.
Property was well maintained, in an excellent location. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Would stay again.
This hotel was great! Located in a fantastic area and the rooms were lovely. As you are surrounded by a ton of bars and restaurants it can get quite noisy at night.
good
very good locthion centraly small hotel rooms are ok not fancy but very good front desk very very kind and help us
The hotel is close to a fun part of athens filled with tons of restaurants. The room was huge and really nice but you could hear people outside and in the hallways really easily. The only thing we didn't like was that you couldn't flush the toilet paper (it's because athens has old pipes) but our previous hotel let us, so that took some getting used to and we were glad we only stayed one night. Everything else was great!
The bedding was over fussy and we became very hot and the bottom sheet wasn’t fitted. Otherwise everything else was great.
Great stuff and service.
Editor Athens weekend
Large room clean and modern. Staff very friendly and helpful with restaurant and site recommendations
Great stay
Had a wonderful stay here. It’s close to shops and eateries.
Will stay again!!!
Amazing hotel. Very clean, comfortable, and centrally located to most visited sites in Athens. Can walk to the most visited sites and great restaurants within 10 to 20 minutes. Will rebook when in the area again as well as recommend this hotel.
Customer service was great! The hotel was very nice as well and in close proximity to the main attractions.
A great walkable location in the liveliest part of Athens. Standout breakfast at the roof terrace with first-class table service and friendly, motivated staff. A special word to the management for handling changes without fuss and to the super-helpful reception staff. Rooms are mainly quiet, ask for an upper floor or at the rear.
The Editor is sadly a bit run down now. The bed is comfy enough but the linen is not very nice, quite old, there are marks all over the walls and it wasn’t very clean at all. The breakfast was fine but not a buffet at all, as advertised, the location is good but I sadly wouldn’t be staying here again, it absolutely isn’t worth it for the price for me.
The room was very noisy. Tv and safe did not work. asked to be moved and was refused. Was told the tv would be repaired next day, was not repaired. On wed 26th i could not get into room and after several tries by the cleanning staff, they called maintenance who had to reprogam the door lock, then checked tv and repaired it. I left a day early without any satisfaction.
Nice hotel clean and modern, conveniently located. Most sights were walkable. Although the room was prepared before our arrival we noticed that the Kleenex had not been replenished, minor detail. When house keeping made up our room they only left one clean bath towel and didn't replenish the coffee pods again a minor detail given that we were able to obtain those missing items from the front desk without issue. Overall nice little boutique hotel in Athens City Centre.
We like the room of this hotel , it is very comfortable and contemporary . Walkable to attractions and nice restaurants . The reception staffs are so nice and friendly .
This hotel is nice and clean
Excellent hotel in an excellent location
The stay at the hotel was a wonderful experience. The rooms are spacious and clean, the staff is kind and charming, breakfast is wondeful and the location is excellent near the cafes, restaurants and shopping area of Athens. A quiet hotel in the heart of the amazing Psiri neighborhood.
Highly recommended
Great hotel, great location Great stuff
Washroom’ design needs to be improved. No appropriate devices for positioning shower gel and hair shampoo when taking shower.
Excellent location, very nice room
Service was very good, we have asked for a quiet room and indeed received one. The room was big and cozy. Breakfast is prepared fresh from a menu, tasty and good service. Location was great for us. Recommended!
Great location, mostly friendly staff, very helpful with requests. Stayed in a junior suite which was very comfortable for 3 people. Room cleanliness could be improved. Noise and music from bar below went until wee hours of morning, so if you want an early sleep request a quiet room.
friendly staff... not very clean.
Great location, matched by friendly and eager to please team. Super recommendations for meals and drinks out - both relaxed and a bit more formal - thanks to Nikos! Location meant that all historical sites within walking distance. Seems appropriate that over a 4 day stay we managed to walk the distance of a marathon! If you're a light sleeper, like any other city, just remember your ear plugs.
The location was absolutely perfect. Walkable in every direction and close to all important tourist areas. Room was large and clean. Room 110 and likely a couple of other rooms face the outdoor patio of a restaurant and night club (on the weekends) so the music was personally very distracting long into the night (3 AM). There is no amenities in this hotel that I can tell, other than the breakfast on the top floor, for a "4-star" hotel. There was usually just one person at the front desk at any given time...no door-person or bell-boy.
Nice rooms but don't go here if you have a car
This hotel is in the city centre which means there is no nearby parking available. We parked outside for 5 mins to leave our luggage and then go find a parking lot. When we got back to the car we had already received a parking fine. The hotel also advised that another guest that same day received a fine as well. The hotel should warn guests or have spaces available for them to pick up/drop off luggage. They were also very unhelpful with letting us know the best place to park which made matters worse. Our room could only be acccessed via the fire stairs outside of the actual building which was not ideal.
Nice location. Comfortable room. But, “a la carte” breakfast is not in helpful. Also open just after 08:00 am
This property is an excellent value, very affordable but has the feel of an expensive hotel (in a good way) and the location is perfect. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend!
Great location
Can't beat the location! Quiet yet close to monastaraki square, ernou, adrianou street and best of all clean!
Location Location Location. WALKING DISTANCE TO EVERYTHING. Friendly Staff. TV is a Piece of S**t. It turns on by itself during the night. Only CNN. Torture for being a hater of Donald Trump and CNN. Bring your own Firestick or unplug the TV.
Excellent choice!
Great location, helpful staff, nice sized room. Very clean.
Friendly staff, great suites…all around lovely
The staff were excellent. The breakfast was great. It is clean and modern and in a great location.
They forgot to clean our room, you can get any more soaps or shampoo
This hotel wasn’t what I expected based on the reviews. The hotel room smelled like cigarettes, the bed sheets had stains and so did the towels. Wouldn’t stay here again. We told the receptionist about the smell and all she suggested was her spraying the room with air freshener…
Chic building, lovely big rooms, charming staff
Thank you for being Kind and welcoming . 🙏
Super friendly and helpful staff. Room was so big and comfortable we loved the big bath. Modern finishes. Loved our stay.
Great location. Beautiful design and very nice staff.
I am writing to express our disappointment with the service during our stay. Two couples arrived on Wednesday and requested an early check-in, as mentioned in our prior email. The receptionist said she would notify us if a room became available, but we received no communication. After several hours waiting outside, we found the rooms were ready. We then requested a late check-out due to our flight and because my partner, who is pregnant, needed rest before traveling. The receptionist told us to return on Friday. When we did, we were asked to come back on Saturday. On Saturday morning, after explaining the situation, the receptionist told us to return at 11:00 AM. When we did, we were informed the late check-out would cost 50 euros. This seemed excessively high, especially since the room cost 100 euros for the night, and we only needed a few extra hours. Additionally, we noticed there were rooms available, and it was frustrating to deal with the delays rather than receiving a clear solution upfront. This experience was disappointing and affected our satisfaction with the hotel. We hope you will take our feedback into consideration to improve communication and service in the future.
