Such a cute beautiful hotel. Quiet and amazingly clean bathroom and room.
Before checking in, I sent the email to the hotel and got the amazing message; they can accept my request. I could early check in.
Hotel was fine for just one night before catching train to Heathrow to fly home. I didn't love the neighborhood because there weren't many good food options nearby. They also gave me the closest room to the reception area which was not quiet. The continental breakfast was included and was fine.
Clean Comfort
The Darlington is an immaculately clean and well run hotel.
Very efficiently run property. Pleasant staff. Small but well laid out single room with all the amenities. Excellent water pressure in shower. Great value!
Decent hotel, good location
Decent quality hotel, ideally situated for Paddington station and Elizabeth line into central London
Great location, great sized room & bathroom, lift!! Very pleasant helpful staff, easy check in, nice breakfast Only thing, if you are a really light sleeper, because this hotel is an older building, the sound proofing isnt great, what stop me staying again
Lovelt staff, lovely room
Lovely little hotel in a very accessible location. Walk to Paddington and you can go anywhere. It’s easy to take the express train or the tube from Heathrow. Very friendly staff. Checkin was very easy. Nice continental breakfast.
The Darlington is so conveniently located, comfortable, super clean, and the staff is very nice.
This property is a couple minutes walk from Paddington Station - very convenient. My room was a good size and the bathroom was clean. The only issue I had was that you could hear alot of noise from the main road and surrounding area.
Really enjoyed our stay. Would come back. Location is great.
Wonderful experience
The room was spotless when I arrived, which helped me relax and feel at home. The space was small but perfect for me: it was exactly what I was looking for. The hotel and the neighbourhood are quiet and feel safe for this solo traveller and is so conveniently located near Hyde Park, grocery stores, restaurants, and Paddington Station where you can take direct trains to Picadilly Circus, Earls Court, Westminster, Heathrow and more. The free continental breakfast every morning was a lovely start to my day and the staff are so friendly and truly want to help take care of you while you're there. On my next trip to London, I would love to book here again.
Great room. Great location. Breakfast was lovely as well
Fabulous location. Friendly staff. Continental breakfast was meh.
Price was great and it's very convenient to London Paddington. Lots of eating establishments close by. Room is small but clean.
The hotel is conveniently located close to the Paddington area with many shops, restaurants and cafes within walking distance. And Paddington train and underground stations are also quite close and less than a 10 minute walk away. The hotel and clean and comfortable. The room was clean and bedding was comfortable but it did feel a bit stuffy even with the windows open. However, our room was away from the main street so we did appreciate the quietness especially at night. Breakfast was simple, consisting of juice, toast, pastry, cheese, deli meats, some fruit, jam and yoghurt with a choice of tea or coffee. More items can be added (eggs etc) either individually or a full breakfast for an extra charge. Gluten-free bread was available (for no extra charge) and much appreciated.
The property was situated in an excellent location. The room was clean and comfortable with the exception of the temperature. We arrived after 2 days of 21 degree weather and as the room was on the 3rd floor we found it to be unreasonably hot with only a fan to try and reduce the temprerure. This was the only complaint, the breakfast was adequate, the staff pleasant and with the exception of sleeping in an oven we had a good stay
Great hotel!!!!
Functional but overpriced
Room was comfortable and staff was very helpful but for the price we paid I felt the room was out dated and view from basement was nonexistent.
Great place just beware that since there is no AC that it can get hot in the rooms in the summer.
Great Hotel
We stayed at The Darlington while attending a Concert in Hyde Park. The Hotel is excellently situated for all the attractions
Very friendly and helpful staff. Perfect for a trip with friends due to the comfortable triple room.
This is strictly a no frills hotel. It’s very clean and the staff is helpful, but there were so many inconveniences like tiny elevators that only held 4 people at a time (two with luggage), no phones in the room to call to the desk (therefore no room service), no restaurant or bar (only breakfast room). I even had an experience when I came back from my long day of sightseeing to find that the cleaning staff left their cleaning products in the bathroom sink!
Hotel is nice but overpriced for a Bedroom for solo usage. It is very small and no space to put luggage. Shower is good for very skinny people. No AC if it is hot in summer, hard to sleep. Continental breakfast is basic.
A friendly staff solved my problem with WiFi. I stayed 3 nights there and really enjoyed being at my room.
Staff were amazing. Great hotel for overnight stay for an event in Hyde park.
Would recommend
Excellent location. Check in was super quick and straight forward. Friendly staff and room was clean and comfortable.
Great place to stay in London. Hotel is spotless. Stuff is very friendly and helpful.
Great price for the area and net my family's needs
Nice breakfast area in the basement. Short walk to Paddington Station/Tube. Air would have been nice but 2 fans where supplied with room that took the edge off.
We enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Darlington. My review is based on other European hotels we have stayed at, not American. We know the rooms are small and this one was no exception. However, it was comfortable and clean with friendly staff, a tasty breakfast and convenient location!
Hotel is old but clean
This was a cozy hotel in a good location. While it was not terribly walkable, it was usually quite easy to get a taxi or uber wherever we were going. The only issue we had was that the facilities were somewhat dated, so that caused some difficulties with the elevator and whatnot. But the stay was comfortable, and it suited our needs.
If you’re large or portly this is not a good choice. Shower door and shower are extremely small and dangerous. Every thing is clean and in excellent order. Think dollhouses
Lively hotel with ready access to Paddington
Very charming hotel, nice continental breakfast with option to pay modest money for a fried egg and bacon. Staff was friendly, and helpful, check-in and checkout were effortless. Although full, very quiet hotel. We never entirely figured out the TV. But that’s not why we came to London. Loved the bathtub. Spacious and comfortable room.
Small room
My room was very small but clean and tidy. Concierge/ reception won’t book taxis or arrange tours etc, which I felt is a little poor.
In an area with many small underinvested hotels, I gave the Darlington a chance. It is close to Paddington which is great! However, like others in the area, this hotel is tired. The beds were poor quality, personal amenities few, no electrical outlets by the bed, etc.
Just ok
Hotel nicely situated from Paddington station. Room was dated, a little scruffy in areas, shower hose wouldn’t stay upright on wall. Breakfast (had continental) was ok, staff polite and helpful.
Good hotel
Staff were very kind, the room was very clean and quaint.
Great hotel.... one to definitely book.
Great check in/check out, lovely clean and comfortable room, quiet through the night and in a great location for travel, food etc. The breakfast included was very good and the breakfast staff were happy to help and very friendly. Would I return here.... definitely.
Very clean and cozy hotel around the corner from the Paddington station. The staff were super friendly.
Nice economical stay for a first time international traveler. Only negative would be the large swinging doors separating each corridor on my floor - they made me a little disorientated after going through each one and I easily got lost trying to find my way back to my room after a night of pub crawling. Otherwise, thanks so much! Thoroughly have enjoyed the UK so far.
The hotel was in a great location near Hyde Park and the Paddington station. Room had very high ceilings and large windows. It was a decent size room. Since it’s an old building, I did hear noise from outside the room in the hallway in the morning.
Marathon stay
Staying the night before London marathon and delighted to be told on arrival that staff would be coming into work extra early to start breakfast at 6.30 for any runners. This was much appreciated, thank you
The staff were helpful especially Marlon in the breakfast area. Friendly and courteous.
My husband and I chose a twin bed room and were very pleased to have a large room on the third floor. Comfortable mattresses, clean & crisp linens, good shower pressure, excellent breakfast choices are some of the great things about the Darlington. We also were pleased with the proximity to Hyde and Kensington Parks as well as Paddington station.
Nice and convenient
Great short stay, nice size room, comfortable beds and clean bathroom. Breakfast was continental unless you paid extra for full English or booked direct with hotel. Very convenient for Paddington station and tube services.
This was my first solo female trip and I was more than concerned about many things, namely getting a good night sleep in a safe hotel. Hotel Darlingtons staff was so welcoming and friendly that I immediately felt at home and safe. They assisted with everything I could have imagined and more. There were many families staying at the hotel and it was very quiet. The neighborhood was great and safe. I never felt uneasy during my stay! Thank you specifically to the two gentleman at the front desk, they always were more than insightful and helpful. Thank you hotel Darlington!
There's a lot of these buildings around this area white Georgian building converted into flats or hotels. This is one of the nicest, Despite being on a main road and my room was next to the lift I slept well with no complaints. The Hotel was very safe and secure. The location was in a very convenient area of Paddington close to the Elizabeth line. Breakfast was adequate you had to pay extra for a full English, but I only required some cereal and a croissant. I did go at 7:30 am every morning. I suspect due to the size of the breakfast bar it night get a bit hectic later in the morining.
Stay in London, nice location.
Room and bath room were very clean, I have no comment. Television was nicely installed. Paper tissues were missing, that's the only "negative " point.
Can't Fault It
Fantastic value, great location, lovely people and fabulous room. Not a single negative for me - and I am super fussy!!
Decent stay.
Good place to stay for price. Convenient location. Clean. Adequate breakfast offerings. Warm on a windy cold night. Friendly staff. Could not get television to work but did not ask for help.
Good option near Paddington Station, cozy but comfortable.
A nice place to stay - excellent location
Dated decor inside - rooms could do with a refurb, however location was fantastic and extremely friendly and helpful staff!
The room was large for London. Great for a family. We enjoyed our stay and the included breakfast was a good start to the day.
Just the job
Just the job, nothing fancy but spotlessly clean and comfortable. Would stay again
It is close to the Paddington station. A Hirt walk to the pubs.
Friendly staff and breakfast was great. Close walk to Paddington station. Clean property
Really good - exceeded my expectations
Really friendly staff, especially on reception. The whole place was spotlessly clean. Room was much better than expected. Location was great for travelling around London. Slightly set back from main road so nice and quiet. We would definitely stay here again.
Stayed the one night as a pit stop before my flight home but would definitely stay again as it's a very convenient location near Paddington station. Friendly staff and clean and tidy rooms, I had a single which was enough for myself who travels light , the bathroom was a decent size.
This was a very nice hotel in Hyde park, quiet area and comfortable rooms, we got the quadruple room which wound up being two separate rooms in a suite with a bath, which was perfect for a family of 4 with two kids. The continental breakfast was pretty good as well. Only issue is you do have to take metro or bus to get to the really big attractions, walking takes about half an hour so kids were pretty tired on the way to all the sights when we walked. Hyde park is very close though and a great park to walk through and enjoy nature. Lots of shopping and restaurants all around as well.
Location and staff are great but decor and everything else is so out dated Worse is there is no AC and it’s stuffy inside Steps to washroom which is inconvenient for people with mobility issue I would not consider to come back
Perfect stay for concert in hyde park. Very clean room. Lots of towels and toiletries. Staff very friendly and helpful.
I would definitely stay here again. The hotel was well located, nicely appointed and the staff were very friendly!
Easy walk from Paddington Station giving a lots of options for transport also walkable to lots of London’s famous landmarks.
Bland room decor made up for by cheery staff membe
Outside looks lovely. Bedroom was disappointing. Room decor bland and boring. Bed was a standard double bed. Which I had booked! However we realise that no matter how comfy the bed is you cannot fit a 6’4” person and 5’4” partner without compromising one person’s sleep and space in the bed. Note to self if paying nearly £200 a night at least book a King Size room! TV was small (my kitchen TV is bigger!). That said the room, although tired, was clean and as there’s no daily cleaning there was enough towels to cover our days booked. The shower was powerful. Continental breakfast was more than adequate but would have liked Nutella and Philadelphia for my toast/croissant and maybe berries. Still didn’t understand why booking direct to hotel included full English when I paid nearly £200 a night and got toast and single sliced hard cheese! That said, we loved the happy cheery staff and would be happy to stay again!
The property in nice and free English breakfast when booked directly is very good. However in the summer months be aware there is no AC and the windows do not open all the way making air circulation difficult when it cools off in the evenings. Fans are provided though to help. Staff is great!
No Air Conditioning
Clean property but no air conditioning and in the height of summer was a nightmare for me personally as I had no sleep and ended up changing hotels. I failed to notice on the website they did not have it so its on me other than that basic but decent.
The staff was very friendly and helpful
Great place to stay! Was able to easily walk or use close transit to get everywhere we wanted. Staff was helpful and amazing!
Good location 6 minute walk from paddington station. Friendly staff and room clean and modern. Shower good. The one thing I did not like was the differential between agency bookings regarding breakfasts. You had to decide on full English the night before and this meant I went out for breakfast instead of staying in the hotel. They need to review when you can decide what breakfast you want. I would stay again and would recommend this hotel to fellow travelers.
On arrival after an easy walk from Paddington Station, Janos greeted us and set the stage for a wonderful stay at this smaller, well-located hotel. Janos was an excellent source of information for our stay. All the staff is nice- The breakfast lady, and Domenica at our final day. There are updated bathrooms, but in a tiny Victorian original footprint. Everything is clean. The beds are double only in a double room, but you have high ceilings and plaster moldings. It is easy to get anywhere in the city by using the Paddington Metro location and 8 minute walk to Hyde Park. Hotels in London are outrageous prices, but this is a good value. We plan to return.
The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Transit is easy to access. There is also small grocery stores nearby for essentials. I appreciated that my small room had its own private toilet and shower. A short walk to Edgeware Rd and the Marble Arch area with shopping. However, both of these areas are not so nice. Keep an eye on your bag and watch out for pickpockets! If you feel someone walking too close behind you they are probably trying to rip you off. I witnessed this first hand.
We loved the location of this property, Paddington overlander and underground is 5 minute walk. Buses also close by. We had a spacious two bedroom apartment for our family of four. No kitchen, but two big rooms and bathroom. The continental breakfast included was lovely. Guest laundry if needed. No parking on site No daily room service either (we weren't bothered but others may be)
Great from check-in to check-out.
Cant fault the Darlington. Close to Paddington station, lovely bars and restaurants and good value. We will be returning next year.
Very pleasant stay for two days. Travelling on my own. The rooms was small but very clean and tidy and had everything I needed. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. Location is easy walk from Paddington station and the sight seeing buses have a stop very close to the hotel.
Hotel was very close to Paddington and Hyde Park, in a nice safe area. The rooms were very clean and the shower was excellent! And a decent rate. Will stay there again.
Very convenient for Paddington Station. Good sized room, nice bathroom
Great hotel
Great hotel in a good location. Nothing fancy but clean, good continental breafast and friendly staff
It is a great little hotel. I stayed one night, everything was perfect. The nice guy fro the reception even gave me the regular hairdryer to use instead of the one that is in the bathroom, because that one was not so great. It is so close from Paddington Station and very short distance to Oxford Street and to Hyde Park.
Excellent
Excellent little hotel .Great location.Staff very helpful especially with our continental breakfast at 7:30 am !!!
Don’t be fooled by the lobby! Our room at Darlington was absolutely lovely and very clean. The on-site manager and staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room was fully stocked with anything we could have needed and the daily continental breakfast was perfect. The location was just a couple minute walk to paddington station or Hyde park, and we found some lovely restaurants and pubs nearby. There’s also a 24-hour Tesco supermarket within walking distance. We would definitely stay here again!
This is a very serviceable hotel. I would stay here, again, with a price <£100. But it is like hundreds of other temporary lodgings in London. You might as well be in Lagos, or Chennai, or anywhere in the Commonwealth. The only thing that says “London” is the proximity to Paddington.
I always stay in this hotel each time I come to London, and am always very happy there. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are cosy and comfortable. It's an easy walk from Paddington station, and a lovely stroll to Kensington Gardens.
On a quiet street but very close to Paddington station, easily took the Heathrow express and walked to the hotel for a quick 20 hour layover and was able to explore a little bit of the city. Very convenient and had everything we needed for a night stay.
Short but sweet...we'll come back to visit
Great location! Great stay! We took the Heathrow Express from the airport to Paddington Station, right around a 15-minute tube ride. The walk to the hotel was under 5 minutes. The street we walked down was lined with restaurants and food markets, and we had a delicious meal at a Mediterranean restaurant. The hotel room was clean and a good size. The staff were friendly and helpful, giving us restaurant suggestions and holding our luggage until we left. The continental breakfast was more than enough and set us up right for the day. **Nothing to do with the hotel - leaving London was a bit of a nightmare because there was a rail strike and the main freeway to the airport was shut down too so no taxis or the like. Four tube rides later we made it to LHR and barely made our flight. I am not sure how we would have found out about the strike and closed road beforehand, many locals did not seem to know much about it. So we were happy we had planned a 2.5 hour window to get there because it took about that long, so just be aware when you are traveling by rail. Thank you Darlington Hotel for making our quick 2-day stay in London a good one!
Great Location and Hotel
Stayed one night at this lovely location. This is a great location and the staff are amazing. Don't expect super fancy - it is a basic hotel with a great staff in a great location.
Staff had great customer service!
Safe and clean property. Modern hotel. Nice area. I would definitely stay here again.
We had no issues with finding the property after traveling on the train from Gatwick. The staff was lovely and accommodating during our stay. The room we had was large and slept the four of us comfortably.
Well located. Great condition and a lift
Booked this hotel for a quick commute to Paddington and Heathrow. The staff was very polite and helpful, and the room was spacious and comfortable. No complaints other than I should have checked to make sure there was AC, but it wasn't too hot while we were there. We just left the windows open, and the hotel equipped the room with a fan that worked well. Overall, enjoyed our one night stay and would stay here again for the convenience and comfort.
The lobby was a bit shabby. Elevator small and slow. Windows in room didn’t open all the way. Continental breakfast was ok. Staff were ok. Room was ok.
The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly upon check-in and the room was spacious. We didn’t realize the room wasn’t equipped with air conditioning, but we found a fan in the room that helped tremendously.
Over priced. Extremely noisy. Could hear people constantly coming through the doors, closing their own doors, walking and talking on floors above. No air conditioning. Staff were really nice but would not recommend staying here. Also no air conditioning. We couldn't open the window as we were on ground floor right by some large extractor fans which kept me up all night. Overall not a restful stay..... And no fancy coffees like latte or cappuccino. Just bulk standard coffee. £170 a night. Not worth it! Travellodge is better.
Nice hotel in a great location. Ideal for a short break. Very friendly staff.
Good LOCATION
Good location. A very easy walk from Paddington Station, even with luggage. They were able to store luggage until check-in. Beds were comfortable. Keep in mind there is no air conditioning here but you will find a fan in the room.
It accommodated three travelers easily. Staff was very pleasant. Good location. Very short walk to Paddington. Easy to get taxis right outside.

It's a stone's throw from Paddington Station (with underground and bus service to central London and non-stop service to Heathrow) in a quiet neighbourhood. Staff were friendly and efficient. The room was spacious and the bathroom was particularly big with copious hot water. I'd avoid the continental breakfast: there's Cafe Panache on the way to Paddington.
