Property undergoing renovations so some features not available. Room was newly remodeled and clean. Only issue was lack of hot water for shower in morning. Otherwise it is a nice place and will be even better once renovations are finished.

In middle of remodel. Was ok.

We knew there would not be breakfast and there would be some construction in lobby area but we would have a renovated room. It felt like the room was finished 10 minutes before we arrived. The shower caulking was done poorly (and quickly?). The second morning there was NO hot water and when we reported it, the only response was “oh.” There was construction materials and trash everywhere and dust was a problem. Parking was among containers as construction workers took spots closest to doors. There should have been a much more clearer indication of construction and much better management of this project

Nice accomodations

The room was larger than expected which was a nice surprise. The location to the University was very good. The Inn is undergoing renovations which did take away from the atmosphere, However, it did not bother me in the least.

This is a great location and has always been a nice hotel, but right now it's undergoing a major renovation, which has over 50% of the facility completely closed. There is dust everywhere, the front entry has plastic tarp everywhere, and the carpets are a mess. The room that we have is updated and very nice. We had requested two beds, and they only had a king and a pullout available. Their biggest two weekends of the year are here for graduations, yet they have over half the rooms unavailable. The construction should be very obviously stated on the hotel, as this is a huge disappointment.

There were renovations ongoing that they described ahead of time. I was surprised by how thin the walls were. I could easily hear every word of the conversation next door and they weren’t loud. It was clean, safe neighborhood, and close to where I needed to be. Cute little park on the river out back.

New rooms are nice but I had no hot wzter

Even though the first floor of the hotel was under construction, the room was immaculate, staff were friendly and helpful, and it was very quiet and pleasant. Would recommend staying there.

First time in the new rooms

The Clarkson is in the middle of a remodel, and it's coming along nicely. We've stayed there 3 prior times, but this is the first in their refinished rooms. The bathroom tile was very nice, the new furniture was also comfortable and stylish. The staff was friendly as always

They are renovating so outside wasn’t really clean and lobby a mess. We didn’t like that there was someone noisy both nights. One at 2am and next night 3am. For a while.

Very friendly!

Notified about construction after confirming reservation, no breakfast except old prepackaged muffins with an apple in a bag. They charged my credit card upon arrival even after saying we wanted to split the charge upon check out. Room was clean, but very thin walls, so noisy. Over all I would not recommend or stay there again.

The Clarkson Inn is undergoing renovations at this time, so no breakfast in the morning while it is redone. The newly renovated rooms no longer have the vibe of the original, now that modernized,

Thr Inn offered us a very convenient location for college tours. The parking was easy, and from the outside it looked great. The rooms were clean, but fairly dated. All the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. One even printed out a document I had left at home. We did not know, until walking through the doors, that the hotel was under renovation, so we walked into a front area with stacks of boxes and materials. While we didnt hear any noise, our room was on the other side of the major renovation, so walked past open construction to get there. We booked the Inn because of convenience and the promise of hot breakfast. Unfortunately, due to renovations, the breakfast was a cold grab and go. I just wish we knew of those things in advance.

Never stayed at the Clarkson Inn. After I booked through Hotel.com Clarkson Inn called and said they had nothing available. They sent me to the Hampton Inn which was nice.

WE didnt have a hot breakfast, i was unaware of them being in construction. also we couldnt sleep in because of a fire alarm at 8:00 in the morning. and it was not an emergency.

We got transferred to the Hampton Inn because of renovations and it was excellent!

Great Location

Easy walking access to local shops and restaurants. Convenient for visits to area students.

Classic favorite.

I like to stay here every time we visit my daughter for school. Perfect location. I’m excited they are doing some renovations, excited to see new upgrades.

Great staff who very clearly communicated that the property was undergoing renovations. There was some extended noise after 11 PM that seemed to come from a vehicle outside (nothing to do with the property but disruptive for someone staying on the 1st floor). Outside of that, for a tiny town, there are enough options for coffee and dining while visiting the area colleges etc.

lovely inn which captures the "olde tyme" spirit of new england small inns of days gone by rooms are spacious and well laid out heat/air/etc. are excellent- very god infrastructure people [staff] are gracious and welcoming just a great stay

The hotel was on the major furniture upgrading but didn’t make any mess. Loved bed it was comfortable hopefully the new ones will keep it the same!

Dated but quaint. The property was under serious renovation when we stayed, so I imagine updates are coming. But it’s a nice change from regular hotels. Right in town, by the water, and close to the college. Even a one night stay stop-over feels like a treat. You feel the ambience most in the warmer weather. Winter is brutal anywhere.

We did not know until we arrived that the place was under construction making the lobby not usable because of boxes of stuff. We think customers should be notified of this issue and not be charged full price.

I normally stay at this place and it’s a cute little place and no issues. Last night I was disappointed that neither Expedia or Clarkson gave me a phone call to let me know that they were under renovations. Had I known that I was gonna be waking up to trucks at 8 o’clock in the morning And people pounding on the property I would’ve stayed somewhere else.

The location is perfect when visiting Potsdam. I hope once their renovation is complete the stars will increase. Looks as though the focus is on renovation, not focusing on the areas that are currently being used by guest. The juice machine was broken, so none was offered. Staff was extremely pleasant. Looking forward to see the completed renovations.

Cancelled us out day of arrival

They cancelled the morning of my stay. They said it was because they had renovations we on going. These were major renovations. If they had planned renovations they should not have taken any reservations.

Quaint hotel with spacious rooms and very convenient to the downtown area.

This is a quaint little property with great service and a wonderful breakfast that is included. I would definitely stay there again.

Older building, friendly staff. Blinds are light filtering not room darkening. Breakfast was typical but tables were not kept clean.

I knew this place would be slightly dated from the pictures online, but I was hopeful as I will be traveling weekly to Potsdam, and was hoping to make that my weekly spot, but it was horrible. Right from the start the place was dirty, not dated but absolutely dirty. On my way to my room the carpeted stairs had cookies crushed all over them. First entered the room and when I went into the bathroom there was mildew all in the grout of the tiles in the shower. I was on the street side and the noise was awful, not necessarily the hotels fault as they can’t control that. The website says there are blackout curtains in the rooms which was not the case at all, instead they were dated twist blinds which let in lots of light from the street lights. I think the worst part may have been the sheets they were like sandpaper! I got up and left at 5:45am I couldn’t stand being there any longer. The location is great but do yourself a favor and find another place.

Wonderful property. Quaint little town, lovely walk along the river and easy walk to shops and restaurants. Room was clean and spacious. Staff provided excellent, professional service. Very happy with our stay and would absolutely recommend!

Wonderful classic hotel. Breakfast options included a couple of gluten free items. Will stay again here for sure!

Had an excellent stay but there was substantial noise from late night groups in the parking area on side of hotel.

The staff were very friendly and the facilities were clean however the fan and toilet when flushed in our washroom was extremely loud which was annoying.

Average stay

The room we got was spacious and included a desk and a small sitting area; it was decorated in an old country style. The breakfast was limited. Free parking is available nearby

Nice, clean hotel. NOTE - NO ELEVATOR. I did not request first floor. When I arrived, they didn't have a first floor room. However they did get me one. I'm in my 70's and an elevator is needed when not on the first floor. Furniture is heavy older style. Seating was good, but chairs were hard to move. It would be nice if there were an adjustable office chair. Armchair would not go under the desk. Good TV and show selection. Location in town is great. Walk out the door and you are in downtown Potsdam. If I were younger and more fit, I would stay there again. Should I go back again, I may check out the Hampton Inn, farther away.

The hotel is getting old. It was clean enough, but shows signs of wear.

Stayed here for a Clarkson University visit. Nice convenient location close to the university with friendly staff and a nice breakfast.

Lovely location next to river

Great location for downtown, everywhere is walkable, right on the river, with a nice park and weekend farmers market

This propery sits in front of the Potsdam Farmers market, park w/ gazebo. You’re on Main Street and corner street Market St.) are loaded with shops and eateries and you are walkable to Suny Potsdam, if you don’t mind walking ( 1/2 - 1 mile? ).

Everything is was good

My only complaint was that the grout in the tub area was not as clean as expected. I especially loved the fact that my room looked out on the river, and that the windows actually opened! It was lovely!

Stayed for 2 nights in July and we had a fabulous stay! Hotel has the best location…. Right in town with a beautiful park by the river and all the restaurants right there. Staff was lovely and helpful. Breakfast was good and a nice touch. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Will definitely return!

Nice quiet stopover on the way to Quebec. Revisited the colleges that our children went to and remembered when I was a student at Clarkson 60 years ago. Still a nice place to visit and the Inn was a great place to stay.

We had a great staff. The property is very quaint. The rooms are a nice size. The breakfast even had some gluten-free options.

Front desk staff is always friendly and accommodating Beautiful building and the rooms are clean and nice. Quiet and comfortable. Several dining options in walking distance and the Roxy Movie Theatre is right across the street. Have stayed many times and the free breakfast is about the best around
