Location and service
such a hidden gem
Loved our stay. It was the perfect location for us. We walked almost every place we needed to go.
Excellent coffee shop a hotel and restaurant was amazing too! Loved the ambience, the attached balcony and the pool, our dog and kid loved it too. Would like to return, definitely nice laid back lush Austin vibe!
Good sized rooms with great coffee shop and wifi
Wonderful stay as always! Great experience!
I love the vibe of the Carpenter Hotel. I stay here everytime I am in Austin. It is small and unique, not standard style hotel. They have a great coffee shop that attracts the community and a great restaurant.
Always Funky
I travel extensively and always try to book unique boutique hotels. I had no idea that The Carpenter Hotel existed but selected from a list provided by Hotels.com. This hotel is a dream funky interesting and unique. It deserves to be considered iconic and it will one day be in the company of the Chelsea in NYC and Liberty Hotel in Boston. The staff is excellent and fit right with the hotel’s image. A great experience in all respects.
Greatest hidden gem in Austin. Quiet, safe, and romantic in PRIME location. I’ve found my go to hotel when I come back to Austin.
great, rustic, authentic stay
Wonderful hotel. Location and staff were great!
Good hotel
Good stay for business travel
Wonderful staff offering great hospitality! We really enjoyed our time at this hotel.
Room was spacious and comfortable. Staff and service were quite pleasant.
Stunning property minutes form everything.
Not too good
Not very good at all. The room was so inconvenient. I do not do my make-up in the bathroom so I could barely see how to do some of it sitting on the couch because the lighting was awful unless it was daytime and the drape was opened. Lighting was pitiful. The bathroom faucet had a tiny stream of water coming out. Almost unusable. The shower was great and the location was really good for me and my husband. The ceiling was old concrete as well as the floor. It they want that motif someone should at least clean them up some. We didn’t have to pay for parking which was good and we felt our car was safe in the parking garage. Not too many areas were very safe in Austin overall. We had only one washcloth when we arrived and put the sign on the door not to clean the room. But they did anyway and then we had no washcloths or hand towels. They said they had not been cleaned yet but finally got us one washcloth and a hand towel.
Friendly staff thru out the hotel. Great access
Laid-back experience
Lovely indoor outdoor setting.
Wonderful stay! Highly recommend!
Nice place but there is not much parking
Great location, easy access to the river path system. Short drives to anything we wanted to see/do.
EVERYTHING. We cannot wait to come back. A very special place staffed by really amazing staff. They took great care of us, got us in a little early as a family with kids, the server was so sweet to my son when we had a mom-son dinner date. All around wonderful and magical trip. Food was top notch!
Very expensive and my TV didn't work but otherwise I love this place. It's a cool, gorgeous property in a classic neughborhood.
We were very impressed with the property. Joe at the front desk was amazing and friendly and is definitely an asset to the hotel! The rooms were super cool and had everything we needed. On the 4th floor we did have some noise from the roof/etc but there are sound machines available to help drown out the noises from the hotel and from the outside traffic etc. Overall so impressed and would definitely stay again!
Perfect location for seeing all that Austin has to offer. The staff is amazing and the rooms are great.
Rad spot. Love Liz Lambert’s properties
Happy to Go Back!
The Carpenter is a lovely place -- lots of concrete, mattresses low to the ground, hipster vibe with lots of pleasant dogs and coffee. The location is good although I prefer the sister hotel, The San Jose, on South Congress for locale. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Austin and John and the three baristas at the wonderful coffee shop.
The charming carpenter has quickly become our favorite. We’ll be returning ;)
Great location, great staff.
Excellent room and property. We enjoyed brunch on the patio at the restaurant and coffee at the coffee bar.
Stellar location
Great location for the Austin Food and Wine Festival.
Stellar
It was a pleasant experience in a great location.
The location was great and the property was beautiful.
Great service!!!
This hotel had 5 star service. The staff was on top of every request within moments. We dealt most with Joseph at the front desk. Very friendly Brooklyn guy who made sure everything was good. The style of the hotel is a bit off the wall and fairly typical of Austin: a fusion collision of industrial, Bauhaus, and dorm room, but all appears to be very carefully thought out. I would definitely recommend this place.
Check-in process needs to improve. Room with poor location given to an Expedia VIP when the property was not close to full. This has been a consistent problem on recent stays at this property. Seems to be a result of inexperienced/new staff doing the check-in.
My favorite staycation
Nothing fancy nor luxurious, but very nice, clean, tasteful. Location is safe and a short walk to the river.
Such a great property and location. Wonderful staff as well. Highly recommend!
Carpenter hotel was such a great place to stay. Conveniently located, food places nearby as well as great cafe and restaurant on site. Room spacious and clean. Super friendly staff!
This was the best place to stay for ACL. It was a short walk, and had everything we needed close by.
Wonderful stay and amazing location. Highly recommend!!!
Great stay! The staff was very friendly and the check-in process was quick. Would definitely stay again.
Nice design
Beautiful vintage hotel. Will definitely stay here next time we are in Austin
Such an underrated hotel!
Beautiful interiors and landscaping. Nice staff. Slow kitchen in restaurant.
A great hotel. I was here for a film festival and it was perfectly located for that. But it was also just a very solid place to stay. Solid vibes, good food, and just really cool. Great bed too, a rarity in hotels
Love this hotel the only suggestion is that there is no USB plug-in in the room. Other than that, we love this hotel and we stay here all the time.
Excellent property/location!
Nice to stay in somewhere alternative, in a good way.
The carpenter was a lovely experience as it’s a very unique Concept in a fun city. The Room comes with earplugs as the hotel accommodations are pretty much converted dormitories, but they are styled well and very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.
Amazing hotel/location. Highly recommend!
Super cute hotel in a great location! Loved the retro decor, the balcony, and how quiet the room was. Would love to stay here again!
A great hotel with a cool industrial aesthetic. You couldn’t hear any neighbors and the outside is beautiful.
Amazing property, great Bunkhouse style. Restaurant, pool, coffee all A
Great stay!
The staff and service are great, every time!
This hotel has such a cool vibe. This is our second time here while in Austin and it won’t be the last. Cassandra at the front desk made check in a breeze and Lauren the bar manager is amazing!
The hotel was great! I discovered it on Instagram last year and had been waiting for the perfect excuse to stay there. The property and rooms are beautiful. All but ONE staff member was phenomenal. See, I arrived at 9:00 AM and inquired about an early check-in (something their site specifies to do). I explained that I had a change of plans and would have to return to the airport at 2 pm, so I just needed the room to take a few calls. I stated I would obv. pay for the night in full, either way. The lady at the front desk seemed annoyed with me. WELL, CHECK-IN IS AT 4:00PM, she stated. She then told me she would need to charge me a fee (as a deterrent, apparently). I told her that was fine and even suggested paying to upgrade my room if it helped. "Well, I have your number, so I will let you know if anything is ready", she said. I never heard from her. However, I witnessed her checking in at least two other guests just fine. I returned to the desk a short while later when I noticed she stepped away, thinking to myself (this is my chance!). Another agent was able to check me right then. He was polite and genuinely excited about my stay. I did not catch the lady's name, but she worked the morning of 8/20/24. Everyone is entitled to a bad day; I get it. But as the agent, she was my first interaction at the property, setting the tone for my stay. I'm friendly, polite, and soft-spoken. I did not deserve her attitude.
Fantastic and unique hotel!
Amazing stay will definitely be back again!
Loved the design. Will stay again
Modern & comfortable with great touches
Loved my stay and will definitely be back
Great experience!
Great boutique hotel with mid-century modern retro feel. Nice outdoor spaces, restaurant & coffee shop. Conveniently located near some great restaurants & fun shops with an "old" Austin feel.
Magical.
Very unique quirky property in a great location. Parking is expensive but that’s to be expected in Austin. Would definitely stay there again
Loved the Carpenter Hotel, and I would definitely stay again! It’s clean, comfortable, funky, and quiet. My only constructive feedback would be to offer some way for early risers to have coffee in their room. The only option I was given was a pour over kit, which was $30 for 2 cups of coffee- no cream, no sugar. It’s not a deal breaker by any means, but it’s a bummer. Despite that, I adored the free glass of sparkling wine, the fun robes to lounge in, the beautiful pool, and the fantastic location.
Such a great location and hotel
So unique and great location. We loved the pool. Our room. The food. And pet friendly atmosphere !
No extra fee for bringing my dog and short walk to barton springs pool, we love it!
Coolest hotel in Austin
Coolest hotel in Austin. Great service and love the efficient construction of building and rooms. Awesome pool, coffee shop and restaurant. In the heart of everything. Our new go to place in ATX
The pool and rooms are luxe and comfy. The housekeeping, , parking, staff and room service are a D- at best.
I had a wonderful stay at the Carpenters Hotel. Even before I stepped foot on the property, the service was phenomenal. Shout out to Joseph for be so helpful. Great food menu, clean rooms. Beautiful/Unique facilities. The elevators smell great. The neighborhood is very walkable and there’s ton of dining in walking distance. Definitely worth the stay!
The hotel is attractive, unique, and a little funky - this is not a large chain hotel! The outdoor spaces are lovely and full of plantings, and our room was incredibly comfortable - great bed and bedding, unusual decor (polished concrete floors). The staff was helpful and accommodating. I loved this place and will go back when we return to Austin.
Awesome hotel
One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at.
Perfect stay
The hotel was
overall, the hotel is very nice and clean! My partner and I we loved it! we had a great time, we felt safe the whole time. The downton is close to the hotel, everything is nearby. However, the only issue was the parking we paid $73 for 2 nights but they do not give a secure spot. If you go out at night and come back you probably will have to park on the street. even though we paid for parking we were not able to park at the hotel at night.
We absolutely loved this hotel. It’s tied #1 for our long-standing favorite, The Robey, in Chicago. The Carpenter is extremely enchanting and memorable - it’s clean, designed beautifully, offers the perfect pool getaway weekend and has a convenient little coffee shop! We love and can’t wait to visit again.
Very aesthetic
Adorable with great customer service! DO NOT PARK ACROSS THE STREET AT THE RESTAURANT TO CHECK IN. They have someone parked waiting to give you a $100 ticket if the one spot is taken.
Beautiful Boutique Hotel with Great Vibes
Loved this hotel - great vibe and aesthetic. We enjoyed the furnishings and decor of the room and lobby, great cafe for a quick breakfast (breakfast tacos and ladybird latte), and a great restaurant onsite. The location was convenient to many destinations. This hotel felt special!
Didn't like the dog hotel right next to the hotel. The dogs were barking very early.
Quirky, delightful hotel close to most things that you want or need in Austin
Great stay- wonderful property! Highly recommend!
No access to ice. You have to ask the restaurant to deliver a bucket. It was 100 degrees during our trip and we would have liked to be able to have access to ice since the fridge was filled with items they were selling you. An ice machine like most hotels that allows guests to access it would have been a huge bonus. Staff is very nice, beds are comfortable, if you are planning on sleeping late it probably won’t happen- lots of truck, lawn service, etc noise beginning around 8am.
Relaxing retreat
Relaxing visit, excellent and friendly staff! The coffee was great, restaurant was delicious and the architecture of the hotel created a very relaxing setting with chill vibes. I would visit again over other Austin hotels that can get very crowded. I also loved learning about the history and how well the main hall was preserved. A gem!
Our room was great. The food at the restaurant was amazing.
Never again.
Concrete walled rooms, felt slightly damp, as did bedsheets. Noise, noise, noise from 6am, garbage trucks, barking dogs, and then at 7am drilling and other construction noise which seemed to be on property. The final intrusion was an automated checkout text at 8am, unnecessarily early when checkout is at noon. I guess they don’t expect anyone to be able to relax anyway. I left as soon as I could, exhausted.
Good food. A/c was noisey in room. No movies in room just basic channels w commercials.
Great experience. Room was big and nicely decorated. Funky spot in a great location. Loved the pool and restaurant too.
Excellent service! Beautiful restaurant and friendly staff. I received texts checking in with me and was asked if I needed anything. They provided a free drink and complimentary waters in the room. Parking is not free and I was told I would be charged an additional amenity fee that I wasn't expecting when I checked in. Free WiFi and room service is by request only. Overall, I loved it and would book a room there again if I return to Austin.
An interesting space built out of a union hall and parking gargage The $10/hour early check in fee starting at noon and counting down to 3 pm was a new thing I had never seen. I was disappointed to find out at night that AC was gone in our room and no one was around to fix it. While the night desk agent suggested that an adjustment would be made in the morning, the next morning nothing was possible. An uncomfortable night at too dear a price
Love it
I just love this hotel - from the staff to the bar to the food, simply awesome. Thank you.
Near Zilker park with salt water pool
Lovely, quiet sanctuary in the middle of restaurants and attractions. Check in at 4P is kind of late. IMPORTANT: You have to ask for housekeeping service and they do NOT
Fair. But worst part is the nickel and dime-ing. Early check in fee? What the heck!?! Late check out fee? What the heck? Amenity fee for a raggy, dirty pool. Service sucks; amenity sucked; not exactly the lap of luxury to charge fees. Food sucked too!! Do NOT recommend
