Holiday

We had a couple of small hiccups but Bonny Monyatsi more than took the trouble to make amends. Which was excellent customer service. Best we have received anywhere. A credit too the hotel. Rooms on the smaller side. Good breakfast with plenty of variety and large pool with lots of sunbeds.

Room had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable, and it would have been helpful to have the kids sleeping explained to us. The staff and service was exceptional with a great breakfast option with something for each of us. As a recommendation it would be helpful to have a drying area for wet swimwear. We would definitely book and stay again.

Loved the whole experience

The cabanas is a excellence place but some times we don’t understand some of the things their.

Good for young families

Family room was very small and the fold out couch is not very comfortable. The property needs some love and care in the rooms and around the facility. It was a comfortable stay for 4 days. The staff were so lovely and the breakfast was amazing with so many choices.

Unbelievable

Our stay was fantastic. As a family we had a great amazing time together. The food, loads of it, was delicious. For the evening meal we had the option of the fastfood up in the Sun City Centre. The package we took included the valley of waves entrance for everyone and everyday we where there, including check-in day and checkout day. We had a great room, loved the shower, kids had the TV for a few minutes before they fell off to sleep exhausted from the amazing time in the valley of waves with all the slides and the tings to do. It was awesome.

Lovely hotel. Walkable to all restaurants, shops and experiences.

Not what the pictures show

The property is dated and unclean. We had cockroaches in the room and mould in the shower. The pillows on the bed need replacing as they were old lumpy pancakes. The pool was also dirty and music around the pool was too loud and not relaxing

Nice spot with convenient amenities and restaurants. Don't buy tickets to walk with the Lions, they're drugged not trained. There are so many reasonable safari drives available from the welcome centre across the road.

Great room and value for the stay. Loved the sound of birds in the morning and evening. This property is part of the Sun City resort area, aka it’s all safe and walkable. Breakfast buffet was top notch, too.

The problems I had was water was not renewed so had to buy from the shop on site no milk so couldn’t make a cup of tea

Compact rooms providing good value for money.

Good value for money. Rooms are not very spacious but adequate. Breakfast is very good with large selection of food available.

This was a good location chill out after travelling from the UK before we went on to our next location for a game drive

No complementary water provied,nor even one bottle and every time u need water u have to go to reception to get it urself because apparently the hotel doesnt provide any type of room service.

Beautiful views and great access to amenities but the hotel itself wasn’t always the cleanest. Great location but not all of the photos were representative of the cabanas hotel. Pool areas and lake view were great but the breakfast area was not as expected

Great hotel and resort. 1 downside was the pool bar closing at 5:30, after that there is nowhere to get food or drink without going to another hotel

It was a pleasant stay however there are two points I wish to make , prior to arrival I sent message to hotel via Expedia website requesting a lakeside view , the rooms allocated were as far away from the lake as you could get . The rooms were clean tidy and just what we needed but a couple of chairs for sitting outside on the porch in the excellent weather would have been appreciated.

I would like the staff members to be more efficient, the shower light was not working and when we called for help we were told that someone was coming to fix it. No one showed up even after multiple calls. WE SHOWERED IN THE DARK FOR THREE WHOLE DAYS!

There was water coming from the Refrigerator. We requested our room to be cleaned no one came. Went back in person no one came even asked for a mop. Nothing happened and we ended up using bathroom towels to clean the floor which was attended the next day after l called cleaners who we’re cleaning other rooms

Short holiday break

Had a great time, rooms were very clean and well appointed with adequate room. Breakfast was excellent as was Valley of the Waves. Had so much fun at the pools with the grandkids. The entertainment centre had very nice restaurants and the kids had so much fun in the games arcade.

Amazing gateway choice

Everything was Amazing. It was a great choice for my family to bond and reconnect. The weather was also very good. Staff very kind and helpful.

The hotel is perfectly situated not far from the Sun City entrance - gps takes you right to the front of the hotel. Front desk agents were quick and very helpful in explaining the hotel, and the individuals at the 'Information Desk' had an abundant amount of knowledge on where to go and what to do. The hotel has an apartment feeling as each section is only 2 floors instead of many - such as a hotel - which made it more intimate. The rooms are tiny though and there are no bath tubs, just showers - considering the price we surely didn't complain. Breakfast is pretty standard, nothing that pounces at you with surprise but the location of the hotel (right next to a lake) is a superb view early in the morning with birds walking around. Be very careful of the monkeys though as they will easily slip into your room and steal food. If you are comfortable with walking, you are very close to almost everything you would like to visit. I would highly recommend this hotel if you're an individual/s traveling on a budget.

Kids friendly situation

Most of the activities are not functioning and deceiving. Cabanas standard was below expectations and no proper hot water.

Super convenient for staying with kids and visiting all the Sun City has to offer. The pool was large, clean and had lots of seating. There is also a smaller baby/toddler pool, which was great. Breakfast was good with a lot of selection and well organised overall.The smallest rooms are pretty small but you aren't spending much time in them anyways. They are a bit dated now and need some small repairs here or there. But overall well worth the value. Free entry to Valley of the Waves and free shuttles around the property made things very convenient for our family of five to relax.

Room clean with very comfortable beds. Some areas of sun city did not have enough staff to ensure service was maintained which was a shame as it’s a lovely plea e, really relaxing. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice.

I always enjoy Sun City, it was Expedia that ruined it for me! Expedia screwed up my holiday and cost me extra as I had to seek alternatuve accommodation!!! Will never recommend them!!!

There are 4 hotels in Sun City. This hotel is regarded as the lowest budget one, however I have to say, we saw 3 of the 4 hotels, and I consider this one to have the nicest grounds. The pool is the largest of the hotels and the lake view is stunning. We very much enjoyed the exterior. It is a short distance to the main area of Sun City and the shuttle bus is very reliable. Breakfast was very sumptuous. To the negatives: We were given a room with a view of the lake which we appreciated but we found the rooms very dark. They don't have windows but sliding doors which lead to a covered walkway balcony so it was very dark. The rooms are modern and well-equipped but if I were to go back I would pay more to have a larger room. I think they may all be quite dark though. They do not supply bug spray which you very much need as you are near a lake. All in all I would stay again but I would not take the cheapest room.

Free Upgrade

We arrived to descover the room we booked was not realy avaliable. The hotel offered us two alternatives, one in a room far from the lake with no real view to the lake and the other was an upgrade to the hotel next door : sun city hotel ( with no view to the lake but larger room and a garden exit). We picked the later that was much better. Generally speaking the service was very good, but both hotels need deep renovation. We did not have any issues with noise though we could hear disco music from far away also late at night. The breakfast is good and the restorants were great. Generally beside the weather that was not that great ( was very clowdy) the general vacation was ok. Beware of the monkeys that are trying to get into the rooms and taking your stuff. :-)

Walk around the hotel was refreshing with well manicured grass. Breakfast was a bit crowded by the staff managed well.

This place is beautiful and alive with activity - day and night! Unfortunately this meant it was noisy well into the night, which was very disturbing. Grounds and surrounding areas are stunning, it was peaceful early in the morning. Generally the room is not bad, but needs a bit of attention. I reported the issues, but perhaps since it was full to capacity they couldn't get to them before we vacated. Breakfast spread was good, nice variety! I would definitely visit again during a quieter period, as this was in the peak week of December.

Different from years ago, but still very special!

Rooms are really small. Did not spend much time in the room, but struggled to open a suitcase when in the room

Check-in staff very friendly, I like the bussing idea, smaller buses for night life could be nicer, information desk were amazing with reservations to other restaurants, the breakfast was great and we'll organized. The rooms were tidy but bathrooms could be better cleaned. The cleaning staff could also be less noisy in the corridors. Overall a great stay, they were highly organized and prepared for the hectic festive season.

The rooms we humid and did not have a sliding door from the bath room. The breakfast area was not clean and the staff was rude. I was upgraded which was good for recovery

I liked the place but the rooms are too small for families . But my biggest concern is the fact that there are no provisions for hanging wet swimwear, towels etc. Can the establishment invest in racks please

Excellent and friendly staff… loved each moment

VERY CONCENIENT

Valley of the waves and elephant walk area were highlights. Cabanas lake view room was very disappointing with no hot water to shower at night or shave in morning. Overall little value for money as overpriced with bad room facilities.

Great stay at a nice hotel

Great stay overall. Lake view wasnt much of a lakeview and didnt look like the pictures when I originally booked. I was charged R10 for water i did not charge to room when i checked out. Odd...

Enjoyable stay, and full access to the resort facilities which wa awesome. There was so much to do, and all well organised The Cabanas breakfast was the big let down for me. It’s made in such a mass production way, it was least enjoyable. They can improve on that

Good atmosphere but the air con was not working. The shower water was cold.

We had a very nice stay. The television in the room was not working. Had to report twice. There was no towels but after phoning the problem was corrected immediately.

Room had a very small garden view. Place itself is well kept and tidy. Only breakfast available and the pool bar closes at night. Plenty of alternative bars.

Although our room as supposed to have a lake view our garden view was beautiful. The breakfast was lovely and plentiful. We had visits from monkeys, cranes and mongoose. The whole of Suncity was beautifully kept. The only disappointing thing was, we weren’t allowed to gamble in the casino as we hadn’t brought our passports to the resort.

Overcharged and disappointing

We thought it was very expensive for the size of the room, the air-con wasn't working and the bathroom fan was stinking, the basin water didn't want to drain properly and the shower water was unpleasant, For a family room the second bed was very uncomfortable. The breakfast personal was bombastic and not friendly at all, the breakfast area was loud compact and unpleasant. In my opinion you are selling an experience that is overcharged and not maintained compared to a previous experience 20 years ago. The sky train is not working and the crocodile farm disappeared.

Ideal for a golfing break.

We changed 3 rooms 1) staff cleaning while checked in 2) dirty sheets 3) no hot water 4) broken bed frame 5) hairdryer doesn’t work cuts out after1 min 6) check in staff just allocates rooms 7) don’t give WiFi login details

Nice facilities onsite but very crowdy and noisy

Was very nice to visit suncity valley of waves and enjoy the big space and lakes. But breakfast was very crowdy and noisy and the choice could be better (small choice of cheese, no meusli, the coffe very bad). The room without window, as to keep intimity it is needed to close the curtain and then no light fromoutside. Tv was nice.

the building needs to be upgraded. towels provided were quite old, property has nice views and good access to Wild waters. overall not bad

I liked the location and modern rooms however the room had so many maintenance problems. Doors not closing well for both rooms we had, one of the toilets in the rooms was running water continuously, the showers are not designed well so water runs off into the tiny bathrooms. For a room price of $250/night the rooms are really tiny with small single beds. It is overpriced but obviously rides on the huge demand for accommodation at the Suncity resort.

The welcome, the reception was excellent, the check in was so smooth. The room was very clean, beautiful and nice. We enjoyed the garden view from the room, the swimming pool was very nice and clean. With the dam nearby, boat cruises, it was just such a huge experience especially for our little girl.

Good holiday place to take the entire family. The kids loved it

It is quite conducive for a brief getaway. You have access to most things you might need. There is a free shuttle service available to convey you from one place to another within sun city resort. I and my family had fun during our stay. Room service is very poor, and room amenities are equally not pleasing

Highly recommend

Great hotel, food prepared well, beautiful lake and pools. Plenty of activities in and around the hotel. Cleanliness not so much. Housekeeping really needs to improve their services.

Great place to visit

The room toiletries eg shampoo were used and left in shower from previous person who booked into that room. Towels int eh bathroom was horribly smelly. Water in the shower went from cold to extremely hot continuously.Could not set the temp correctly. Could only make use of the TV in the room 2 hours after check in as it would not work,TV Remote was faulty. We tried repeatedly calling the reception and house keeping for almost 2 hours with no answer. Since it was late,when we visited the reception, nobody was available.

We liked everything. We didn't like the fact that our children were allocated a room two blocks from ours whereas we requested them close to us.
