Great place that’s not corp run chain. Staff very friendly and atmosphere was positive and upbeat.
Loved our room, but the bar downstairs turns into a very loud nightclub on the weekends. We had to leave, the DJ sounded like he was screaming and base was insanely loud; it was coming through all of the walls. I loveee a good time too, just not when I’m trying to sleep. The shower also never got hot.
Wwwwwonderful
Wonderful ambience, wonderful host, wonderful view, wonderful stay. We will visit again.
I loved this place. The rooms are unique and the staff was very friendly. Comfortable and quiet for a great night's sleep. It also has a restaurant, but we didn't have a chance to eat there with our schedule. I would recommend this hotel.
Inn was in a beautiful older home and very close to the beach. The food in the downstairs bistro was delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I recommend this place to anyone wishing something different than a typical hotel stay.
Loved the ocean view from our balcony and room. The owner, Michael, checked us in early, gave us a brief history of the property, and showed us around. Michael was very personable and friendly. We stayed on a day when the bistro was closed so we missed out on that experience. Only problem was not being able to turn the door deadbolt with our key--and it was too late to have the owner come out.
We spent last night in New Orleans, so we were SO happy to get to Gulf Port and find a nice clean town and a spotlessly clean hotel. The gentleman who checked us in was fantastic. He gave us a tour of the property and made sure we were all settled in. On a 10 scale, I give The Almanett a 12!!!
Best
Room was overall good. It was dusty in the room. The restaurant downstairs was very loud with karaoke night. Makes it hard to concentrate on work and or sleep
It has a NOLA type vibe. We were quite comfortable in our stay. Will probably stay again for our next visit to Gulfport.
Our room was very nice and the staff outstanding and friendly. We will definitely stay there again.
Place and staff are top notch. Parking can sometimes be a problem. Good food, very friendly and helpful staff.
We always enjoy our stay!
2-night stay
If you’re looking for a change from a chain hotel, this place is a gem. It has just a few rooms and lots of shared spaces for reading, playing games, watching TV, etc. Our room was very comfortable. The downstairs bistro seemed popular - unfortunately we didn’t schedule our activities well enough to hit them during operating hours. There are also attractive outdoor spaces. The owners are accessible, and very friendly and responsive. We enjoyed learning the history of the building and family. We were sorry to leave! I’m not sure the atmosphere would be right for small children, but for two adults it was perfect.
Loved the feel of the rooms - luxurious with amenities provided.
Very nice
Great stop if you are traveling by car. Beautiful hotel with cozy room with a fireplace. EV charger for those looking to recharge
The ambience was impeccable.
This was such a cute boutique hotel. The decor was so unique. Our room was specious and comfortable. Our balcony gave us a view of the beach. Staff was super friendly and accommodated all of our needs. We stayed on a night that had Karaoke and it was a blast. We will definitely be visiting this hotel again.
The Hotel is almost like an inn. Very classy and cute. Clean and the food is great. Go downstairs and enjoy the music and the food.
Very unique place. Staff so friendly and food is excellent.
This trip was a short weekend 40th birthday celebration for my daughter. I selected this hotel because my daughter really enjoys a boutique hotel over the large condo type. The property was as described. It was clean and bright. The staff was very courteous and friendly and the food in the bistro was great. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely choose this property again.
They were specially waiting for me to check in. Very nice
My stay at Almonette House was absolutely idyllic. As a property manager myself I would give the entire three stories a 20 on a scale of 10 for impeccably clean down to the last detail. There are always some deviations from the norm implied by the term 'Boutique Hotel' but that only adds to the charm and experience. These exceptions have been noted in other reviews and I found nothing to be worth mentioning. The BnB protocol afforded me privacy and essentially the property to myself the first day and a half which I thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend. Patricia, TX
Were there plastic under the bedsheets? Weird noise there.
The Almanett is a boutique hotel with a rich history. It is filled with art by local artists which decorate the rooms and gathering areas on each floor. You can sit on an upstairs patio and enjoy the view of the beach or go downstairs to the bistro for incredibly delicious southern dishes. The bistro has local musicians playing there regularly, as well as a karaoke night. The rooms and property are immaculate. A quick walk up the street takes you to a delightful coffee shop. The Almanett was not what I was expecting, but only in the very best ways.
Happy
Everything beautiful and comfortable. Staff very friendly. Great customer service! The best hotel I’ve ever stayed at!!! I love the story behind the names of the hotel and rooms. Family is very important.
We could not have been happier with our choice of hotels. We have never experienced such a friendly welcoming from all of the staff at any other hotel. They were fantastic! The food in the bistro was fabulous. The accommodations were as pictured. Clean and in good condition. I am sure you can get nice rooms in several hotels in the area. So, I would have to say it is the staff that made this hotel stand out for us. Thank you!
The Almanett Hotel was the best hotel I have EVER stayed at in Gulfport, MS. The staff was so friendly and helpful from the moment we walked in. They gave us a tour of the entire hotel, walked us through our room, and invited us for dinner at their amazing bistro downstairs. We are already planning our next trip back!
Southern gem
Cozy place with easy access to restaurants and the beach—exactly what we were looking for!
Family stayed in the Sandy cottage and loved it. Very comfortable and just what we needed for our time in Gulfport. Convenient location for our activities.
Loved the artsy vibe!
We had an amazing experience; service was friendly and efficient, room was beautiful and full of character. We'll definitely be back!
We LOVED this place. Beautifully atmospheric...wonderfully friendly staff. The hotel was incredibly clean and the decor was rich in history and beauty. A wonderful stay for a couple, looking for great food, comfort and elegance!!
We enjoyed our stay as usual. We stayed for New Year's Eve and really enjoyed the food and the vibe. We try to visit at least once or twice a year. A gem of a place!
Beautiful room and superb customer service.
The Almanett is the best place we have stayed in years. Squeaky clean, great customer service, safe location. The Almanett is what all hotels should strive to be.
Excellent staff, quite and comfortable. My wife and I will stay at the Almanett Hotel the next time we go to the Mississippi Gulf Coast!
Super charming property- incredible staff and the food at the restaurant was some of the best we had the whole stay! Highly recommend
My husband and I were celebrating our 34th Wedding Anniversary. We were looking for small and cozy hotel, not too far from the beach. So we selected the Almanett Hotel. The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting downtown Gulfport. The house was beautiful
Wonderful place with friendly and great service!
The hotel is beautifully decorated with vibrant wall art, and the main sitting room is a little slice of heaven. From the hardwood floors to the window sun catchers, everything fits just right.
This is more like a B&B without breakfast.
The property was Very nice and clean. The staff was very friendly and gave very good insight on the place. The food was great! We didn’t get the breakfast because of Covid but they should give vouchers for lunch in place of breakfast. The room was very comfortable and clean.
Charming and unique!
This place is absolutely lovely! Clean, comfortable, and the staff is so hospitable. We will absolutely stay here again.
My excellent ratings are why I highly recommend The Almanett Hotel & Bistro!
Pretty hotel, in a convenient location, with a friendly and helpful owner. We had a bright, clean, welcoming room on the third floor. The restaurant downstairs can be a bit noisy but it didn’t bother us!
Next morning at departure there was no one around, keys given to us did not fit elevator at ground floor, had to walk luggage down three floors. Bed was listed as a queen it was not a queen, smaller! Room was smaller than expected! Other than that OK
Cool place, great location, friendly host.
Did not like having a room above a bar. The music and DJ were loud! Also our fireplace did not work.
The hotel was very nice. We checked in late, thought the kitchen was closed but we had a nice meal in the bar. Everyone was friendly. The room we had was very comfortable, clean, nice art, quiet. We would definitely go back!!
Fabulous Experience
Simply amazing and the most friendly people. The owner is so attentive and runs a great business. Even the customers in the bistro/bar went out of their way to speak and say hello. Definitely on our list of top hotel stays.
We love the unique beauty and vibe of the Almanett. Everyone is always so friendly and the food in the bistro is delicious.
It had great potential but on a Sunday, there was no staff to be found, we needed bottled water to make coffee, and the Bistro was closed so no breakfast! The sink in our bathroom would not drain and the shower head fell off in our friend’s room. Worked for a one night stay, but will probably be only a one time stay.
Room was quiet and hotel was so quaint and staff was so nice
I loved staying at The Almanett, the only things I would suggest would be not have to use a key for the elevator ( for safety) and have more light in the bistro( the rest of the hotel is bright and quaint! Regardless I would still return again!
I loved everything about it waa clean peaceful and beautiful room will be back
Happily Ever After!
The stay was simply Marvelous. The food was on point. The staff was very courteous, considerate, & very informative. I will be coming again in the future. We celebrated our Honeymoon.
This property was in very close proximity to the beach and offered excellent dining options in the restaurant.
Lovely stay!!
This place was great and right across the street from the beach.
This was a wonderful place to stay! You can tell a love of thought and work has gone into this place. We would definitely stay here again.
A Gem
If there was a score better than 10 I'd leave it. Views, location, history of building and food in the Bistro was amazing. The common areas were neat, clean and had attention to detail. Wish we had more time. Next time we're that way, would love to try another of their unique rooms. We were greeted so kindly by the owner. Had a rough start to our vacation and from the time we checked in felt at peace. All staff was friendly and we thank you for such a great experience.
Always Love this property. Friendly staff and the food is amazing.
This was a beautifully updated historic property with fabulous decor. Go here if you don’t want your regular hotel . Restaurants and beach are walking distance .
Absolutely adorable boutique hotel! Friendly host. It's basically like living in a 'colonial', Key West style house for a few days. Walking distance to the Aquarium, a quaint coffee shop, Shaggy's and a quiet part of the beach. Great experience!
Everyone was very kind, helpful, and accomodating. The room was perfect and the beds comfortable! Great food and ambiance in the restaurant and great location.
Professional, welcoming staff! Very clean!
Staff was awesome, helpful, and super nice! Very clean and neat, only stayed 1 night but wouldn’t mind going back at all!
Comfort, Clean and Catfish!
The staff was kind and generous doing their best to follow COVID-19 restrictions yet follow through with their advertised amenities. The food in the bistro was mouthwatering and affordable!
The service at the Almanett was exceptional! Chereese was phenomenal! She gave us the history and a brief overview of the hotel. She definitely made sure that our experience was worth wild! Our waitress ( I don’t remember her name) was awesome! She took really good care of us. She made sure that our meal was enjoyable! I love the atmosphere, the setting, everything about the bistro! There was a bit of an hang that I had. Per Travelocity the site stated that breakfast would be provided at Bistro, but COVID put a damper on things which is to be understood. I would suggest that the information for the website is updated. Also, per Travelocity the beds were advertised as Queen size beds, they were full sizes beds. I think the price for the room was extremely high for a full size bed. All in all we enjoyed spending our anniversary at Almanett and Bistro.
Beautiful step back in history. Hotel is elegant and superb. Staff is pleasant and friendly.
The pictures of the place are very misleading!!! Not across the street from water. Not enough space to even sit on the balcony. Room very small. Elevator built in the 1800. Have to go up and downstairs to get to car. No rest until restaurant closes. The place was clean and the food was wonderful. But i wouldn't recommend the Hotel stay to anyone for that price n noisy stay. Not worth your peace.
It’ beautiful and next to the beach.
One Night in Gulfport
If you prefer unique places to run of the mill chain hotels, this is the place for you. Clearly an older home converted into a hotel and bistro. Every room has a name, and I stayed in Geneveive on the 3rd floor. It was fairly small, but absolutely comfortable and clean. Small balcony gave me a decent view of the Gulf, albeit with a few other houses in between. I was greeted by exceptionally friendly staff, who were doing double duty between the hotel and the bistro but took the time to give me a helpful tour and walk me to my room. Had a small meal in the bistro - I recommend the Who Dat Shrimp. All in all, a very good experience.
Nice place with charm
Quaint little hotel. We booked the larger room which was nice and private. The decor was nice and bed comfortable. We would stay here again.
It was amazing!
It’s was amazing! Great location. It reminds me of something you see on the travel channel.
