The room was dirty, cigarette burns in the blanket, it was loud all night. Though they say no pets there were several dogs barking loudly and even a cat that was meowing/screaming in the hallways. It was cold and there was no heating in the room at all.
No air conditioner. No ekevator. No cleaning room
Manager was understanding of adding extra nights and having extra guest to the booking. No deposit was required And check out was simple
Horrible experience at this Hotel. Worst ever had in my life. Room was dirty! Toilette was pooped and shower was dirty. the sheets were full of long black hair. Bed was unmade, they just threw the comforter on top of ditry sheets. The sheets were full of long black hair. No TV control remote so I couldn't watch. I asked the manager three times and nothing. The area around this property very bad full of homeless and drug addicts. Very noisy and scary.
If you want to experience how to literally live in a dumpster, go to this place. This place is very filthy, everything is dirty. Bathrroms with dirty floors and have no toilet paper, the rooms, the bed with unchanged pillow case, and the smelly hallways. It’s more sanitary and safer to sleep in the street alley than in this “hotel”.
The room was dirty upon check in so we went to Walgreens and bought Lysol and sanitizer wipes just so we could feel somewhat clean before we went to bed. Marks on the pillows and sheet wasn’t clean so we slept on top of our own blanket.
This property is a health hazard. It smelled like human feces and there was used toilet paper in the hallways. I asked for a refund and am not sure whether it happened as I could not stay there. Do not book this place.
Not a kid environment, disgusting smelt

You get what you pay for. You definitely get to experience what it’s like to live amongst the homeless of San Francisco. Forget about sleeping, with either homeless people partying all night long, or the staff in the hotel blasting music at all hrs of the night. There is no such thing as day and night on this street. You will hear the buzzer of the front door at all times, as there is no key or card to get in and out of the hotel. No towels given, shower moldy and dirty. Need shoes to step in. And just when you think your crappy windows are open because of the noise level… nope they are closed but offer no sound proofing. You will have at least 4 blocks of urine and feces to walk through . I ignored the reviews, I suggest you don’t.
It was good when I go back again absolutely
I was OK with the property and the noise from outside but I had a room right next to the office and every time somebody came in they would talk to the manager and they would run up and down the stairs. I was trying to sleep because I had to work early in the morning that’s why I had gotten a room and unfortunately I did not go to sleep until 1 AM due to all that traffic passing by my bedroom door.
The room was clean and good but the shared bathroom was dirty. The hotel reciption were nice.
Cheap, clean, convenient... and LOUD!
Hotel Adrien is a haven from chaos in a gritty part of San Francisco. Its cheap rooms -- perched above a liquor store, across the street from another liquor store -- provide a diverse clientele with basic shelter for the night. For my purposes, the location was very convenient. Sutter Hospital and Clinic are about 10 minutes away walk, the Asian open-air market is an easy five minutes. Good and excellent restaurants are everywhere. My sister picked me up at the SF airport around midnight and when we got there, we were apprehensive because homeless people live on the nesrby sidewalks. I had to call several different numbers before my call was answered by a south-Asian man who described where the entrance was located and promptly buzzed me in. My room was next to the corner office, had a combination lock, a garish cealing light, a comfortable single bed with clean sheets, desk, chair, night stand, a small closet, and a sink. Two cracked and dirty windows had dark curtains that effectively blocked out the street lighting. The TV offered a few clear channels with good movies and other programs. Toilet and shower facilities were just down the hallway. Two towels were provided at check-in. This room was loud. Guests and potential customers streamed in and out all hours of the day and night. I could write a pretty good book based on the overheard conversations outside my doorway and in the intersecting streets below. I slept well through most of it.
Didn’t expect our stay to be this disappointing with dirty ass shared bathrooms and nobody cleans them the while time we were there.
Stop read first, don’t go here
Location of place is in the worse part of town, don’t go there with family and children people in the hotel smoking crack needles all over the places. It had NO A/C NO FANS. The two guys in the front desk, they don’t want to do anything, don’t bother to ask them for something because they don’t even move out of their seats. Recommendation or more somewhere else, for some reason the people that stays here are homeless people and drug addiction people. Place is dirty I even told the guy in the front desk the the share bathroom and the floor, were blood everywhere and his answer was “ Use another bathroom” he did not it even care, a day later the bathroom was still with blood. You get what you pay.
It was filthy no air conditioning like a lot of the amenities that they said on the website hanging cables from wall. No room service dangerous
Pros: relatively inexpensive; with a microwave and a minifridge Cons: area surrounded by street people; no place to put your towel or clothes in the shower.
In my top 10 worst experiences of life
Honestly idek where to begin. The entire experience here was laughably bad. Which I would know if I had read the reviews. As soon as we walked in it smelled like cleaning products, which was a great cover up for how nasty this place was. The hallways looked fine but the bathrooms were vile. The room seemed clean enough until we lifted the comforter and saw brown stains all over the sheets. We were also given a room IMMEDIATELY next to the entrance after you go up the stairs. Right next to the employee desk. The walls were paper thin so it felt like there was 0 privacy. And throughout the day and early in the morning there were people being excessively loud directly outside our door. People saying their stuff was stolen out of their room, tenants complaining about living there and the employees arguing back at them, and every other person who came into the hotel. There is a sink in the room but had to ask for soap and towels. A closet but no rod or shelves. The towels were crunchy. Not to mention if you are femme presenting be prepared to be gawked at, catcalled, and harassed in this area nonstop. And don’t expect to feel safe walking around at night. IF you didn’t know. So glad I only booked this place for one night. I know you wanna save money but just trust me and don’t<3 Splurge on a motel 6 or something. The Adrian makes it look like a Hilton.
It is not at all what it looks like on the internet.
No heater
While the staff was nice the property is very dirty, rundown, and the neighborhood is very unsafe. We were surprised that there is hot water and good pressure in the shower and that was the best part. Can't say we were disappointed because we expected this at that price but the neighborhood was worse than we thought and I'm no stranger to SF. Very loud at all times. We could hear the other guests and the people outside during the night, yelling, playing loud music, and fighting. Would not walk around here at night, would have left if I could have afforded it to be honest.
It was reasonably clean. There's an outlet by the head of the bed, \ich is important to me. For security you have too be buzzed in twice, a good but inconvenient thing. Nice hot shower 2 convenience stores in les than 200 yards. You have to walk to the 2nd floor to check in. The have an elevator, but not for ground floor use. No nightstand or dresser. No cups for water The sink was in the room if you booked a room with a bathroom, but a shelf is 2.5 feet above the sink and so you have to duck to brush your teeth. There wasn't anything to put the soap down on in my shower. There had been at one time, so that probably isn't the case for all rooms. Noisy, especially Tuesday night at 3AM when the garbage truck comes by. And I have moderate to profound hearing loss. The entire area, including nice parts, smells of urine, but the room didn't and the 2nd floor lobby didn't. The homeless weren't at all aggressive, and almost totally ignored me. If I could I'd give it a 2.5. Can't give it a 3, but 2 is a bit low. I probably won't stay there again, but if I do is not going to concern me much.
They are frauds
Never even spent 1 night at The Adrian.
I want a refund. Never even stayed there 1 night. Tried checking in. The rooms were dirty and undone took pictures as well. The building had a share bathroom and share shower. Don’t think I got what I paid for and the pictures on the app are not what the place actually looks like. Definitely wasn’t going to sleep if I had stayed there. Front desk gave me some weird paper receipts saying I’m getting refunded $330 and never did. Still waiting on it.
This property is in a very unsafe area of town and I did not fell safe staying here.
Very very bad, in room no shower, but in expedia written in room have showers. Very bad not a pleasant spell
request of refund
The heater was not working and i was not able to sleep as it was very very cold. They gave me the second room on the third floor. room is very dirty and there was a very smell in the whole floor. i rushed back to my first room on the second floor. Service man who worked overnight here was nice.
Homeless people aroun 24/7 noice in the property , employes working sharing batroom & shower dirty toilets
Dont stay here
Not the best place to stay due to property's need for many upgrades and focus on cleanliness. However, the staff was extremely cordial, pleasant and must helpful.
Filthy beyond belief everything in the room .
The folks managing the property are doing a very good job of keeping it clean given the price it was fine. BUT the Andrian is in the middle of the worst of the worst part of the most homeless and drug infested part of the worst part of San Francisco. Getting in and out can be an adventure and parking impossible unless you are willing to pay for a garage. The city is trying with guys doing cleanup and civil work but in general this is a bad neighborhood.
Nice men running the hotel, but very noisy, dirty area surrounding.
don’t waste your money & time
Not what I expected, parking would of been great since the area has limited parking outside, there’s street sweep 3 - 4 times a week, so having to get up before 6am on vacation was not ideal. Especially when there is a lot of activity outside, feels unsafe. Every poor on cleanliness also, our room walls were dirty and not a good smell either, shareable bathroom was also dirty.
Budget residential hotel on a very loud street.
The room served my needs for a cheap business trip. However, I would never bring my family. I always travel with a disposable wash cloth, towel, and sheets, and air freshener so nothing bothered me other than the noise from the street.
I wanted to save money and stay in a very cheap place but still have my own bathroom, this is the place for that, I know in the area there is a lot of homeless people but that is all over san francisco now, did walk the streets at night with caution, not a place to take family but for business needs and save money is a great bargain, I also recommend to travel with earplugs as the street is very noisy at night (homeless yelling and loud music all night) it is at walking distance of the fancy expensive areas including Moscone center.
I have found my own personal hell on Earth and its The Adrian. I typically do not leave reviews, but I cannot hold in my disdain for this “hotel”. The pictures of the hotel are very misleading as I wouldn’t even begin to describe this place as boutique or updated in the slightest. There was dried blood on our comforter, mice running around our room, and the cold water for our sink wasn’t running. The venue has stated they clean the rooms, but their definition of clean is skewed. The floors left the soles of my feet black, and the shower was so disgusting I felt like I’d be better off not even using it. The only positive about this place is the staff is friendly. Overall though, this place made me hate a city I once loved, and will probably not even return to SF for years to come.
La chambre etait propre a notre arrivé. La salle de bain n'a pas de tapis de douche donc le plancher peut etre mouillée et ensuite le salir avec tes chaussures si tu va seulement au toilettes
The hotel manager was kind and professional. It was just located in any area that was not the best for my young daughter to experience. I take full responsibility in not doing more research. The prices were fair.
It was a good place if you needed a place to stay not far from downtown on a budget
No deposit
This hotel was nothing as advertised on the website. Upon arrival we went to our room and the window was open and there was sheet that was almost about to fall off. There was writing on the walls that had very scary verbiage and I would like a full refund for this booking.
Black & Gold in the TL
A pleasant room facing the street, looking out over what many would consider a "rough neighborhood". The building itself seems secure enough to me, with staff on site accessible, friendly, helpful 24/7
This is a residential hotel for the worse of the worse. It’s a meth lab on top of a crack house on top of a slum lord. It has MS 13 hanging outside (I kid you not!), prostitution, pit bulls inside of the building running around (if you want pics I have tons), mold, roaches, and the management feign ignorance of everything. When I left, the cab driver called the manager an expletive for almost getting him lost. You put your life in harms way here, and if I had had a second or third place to go last minute i would have gone!! This place is scary, especially if you are a woman.
Disgusting
I don't typically leave reviews. But wow. I've officially stayed at an actual trap house. Trash can with needles in the armoire. Roaches. Stained sheets. Tons of loud noises from the halls and other rooms; paper thin walls didn't help. No towels. Poorly insulated so the room was quite cold. Laid on the bed like a vampire bundled up in jackets surviving the night. It was an experience for sure!
The room came with mice, bed bugs, the prior guests leftover food in the fridge. If you want a real treat pull the sheets off the bed and look at the mattress.
Great night and great staff
It was a great hotel room.
Clean and friendly
Good staff
Cheap filthy hotel
This hotel is filthy. The floor was dirty in the bedroom and bathroom looks like it is never cleaned.
Disappointed
Dirty, dirty, dirty.... we didn’t even dare take a shower...
The place it was really dirty it was terrible
I need to talk to you guys because when I get to the place the guy it was there he told me that you guys make reservation for me just for one night and they kick me out to the next day so that was embarrassing because I was with my wife in I was need to get another hotel because they told me I just did a booking just for one night And then the room it doesn’t have a shower it was really dirty a lot of people was smoking weed it was terrible so I need to you guys return my money I need to get my money back because that’s not fair that they keep me up you know what I’m saying
Not like the photos advertised. Smells like urine and cigaret. The later it gets the louder it becomes with all the druggies on the street. The door lock would not work. This place is used as a live in manor. Dont waste your money, i ended up paying double since i didnt stay my full stay and had to check in else where due to the horrible condition. The adrian would not authorize my refund.
January stay
The hotel is a no-frills kind of place but very clean and the staff is incredibly friendly! Be careful of the neighborhood as it is in the middle of tent city (homeless) but they didn't bother me at all.
Do not stay here. The room smelled like someone smoked 100 cigarettes right before we got there. Cockroaches all over the place and nothing is clean what so ever. People yelling and tv’s blaring all night and homeless surrounding all the streets. Not even remotely worth the cheap price.
Robbed Me for New Years
I booked a room for this place thats permanently closed and I didnt even get my money back. Yall are a bunch of crooks! This hotel doesnt even exist! You sold something thats not even available!
the wash basin has two taps : one for hot and one for cold the hotel is nothing like in pics very old hotel
The neighborhood location for this hotel is terrible. It’s located in the heart of the tenderloin, with streets filled with homeless, baggers, drug attic’s, and other characters. There was no coffee or anything else available within the hotel, with the exception of a party store located underneath on the corner. Walking to the location in the morning is dangerous, and at one point I had for forcably push a guy out of the getto gated entrance in order to prevent him from entering behind me. The room contained no towels, no soap, and no toilet paper. I stayed at this location during a recent conference we’re booking other accommodations was all but impossible. Do yourself a favor if ever considering this venue, and book a room 50 to 100 miles away if necessary.
HANDY AND OK.WASNT ENOUGH FOR ME TO COME BACK TO STAY.WILL FIND ANOTHER PLACE IF I RETURN TO THE BAY AREA.
It was great clean room's private bathroom plenty hot water Clean sheets
Scary! Scary! Scary! Do NOT even consider this property. Blood on the floor, pubic hair in the shower, paper thin walls, dirty bedding ...this is a pay by the hour room rental. Terrible neighborhood! Homeless people in the hallway, ladies checking in with their "John". I have reported this hotel to authorities. Just Don't!!
Good service, but very simple hotel
The hotel was well located for a downtown hotel, and at first I had reserved by mistake a room without a bathroom. There was a wonderful person at the reception who arranged me a change of room with a bathroom. If I knew about the location in advance I would have reserved a different hotel because the neighborhood at night was a little scary.
Of all the options in SF, this isn't the worst
The hotel was expensive for what it was, but I think that reflects more on the city of San Francisco than anything else. Make sure to stay in the room with a private bathroom. The neighbourhood is absolutely disgusting. The guy who checked us in was nice but the overnight guy was a little weird (odd, not creepy). It wasn't unclean. but nothing was very good quality. We did feel safe and secure when in the room.
Very slow wifi
Extremely slow wifi
The hotel was in a very dangerous neighborhood, full of homeless and drug addicts. I honestly felt in danger. The first room I was given was very dirty and had bugs all over the wall and the bed. After I told the employee on duty several times about the situation, he moved me to a different room. The towels were steined and the room was also dirty. I stayed there the first night because I didn't have the time to go anywhere else. But the next day I checked out because I couldn't bare to stay there again. I missed my flight the next morning because I had to move much farther to be able to get accomodations with so short notice, so I couldn't make it to my morning flight. It was a terrible experience, I can't believe Expedia has that hotel in their offers. That place should not be bundled with any tickets. I don't think I can trust Expedia for my future bookings. I'm extremely disappointed. I would like to be reimbursed for at least the second night, that I had to pay to stay at different hotel. I also tried to change my flight, because I didn't think I was gonna make it in the morning from my new location relaying on public transportation, and couldn't get to an actual representative to speak with, so I would also like to be reimbursed for that ticket.
The room given to me was approximately 8x10ft. There was an old single bed with an old blanket. There was an old stand alone cabinet and wall tv. There was a small windo which led to this landing about 6x12 ft. 6ft directly across from my room window were two windows. There was no security on my windows or those other windows and each of them were large enough to allow people to enter and exit via the windows. I’m order to enter the room, there was a key with a turn key lock, no door knob to enter, the was opened by pushing. In order to leave the room you had to turn the tiny lock tumbler and pull the door open by the old fashion two hook clothes hanger attached to the door. To say the least, the room was not safe to be in period. It is not the place that Expedia would or should have on its listing of lodging. Room # 212 was the room I was assigned. I did not spend a night there physically, I checked in then left to stay with friends,
Awful
the room was dirty and i had to clean the shower myself, hair and part of a razor had been left behind. The fridge had rust on the generator and the sheets were from the 80s. not like the pictures at all. I would not recommend this place whatsoever
Friendly and helpful staff who accommodated the majority of our requests. Great price for proximity to most San Fran tourist hotspots. Only issue was that our TV didn't work. Don't stay here if you are expecting a luxury getaway, but if you're looking for a basic space to bunk down on a budget this does the trick.
This hotel is best to be avoided at all costs. The neighborhood is sketchy at best and loud. The rooms are tiny and ramshackle. The bed uncomfortable (and one worries about bed bugs). Hotel guests are up at all hours of the night making noise. And the best part? No hot water in the shared bath.
Very bad neighborhood
RUN! This property is in the worst area of town there is homeless people outside living in tents and doing drugs right on the street. The room was filthy with the Refrigerator full of pizza from the prior people. Shower was nasty! And then their was only one outlet in the whole room that was being used by the tv and refrigerator. There was no towels. Horrible beds. Smelled. Elevator was so old and didn’t work most the time. Several times there was cops in the hotel that needed to remove people. Someone overdosed right on the corner. Sirens all night plus fighting in the hall ways. No A/C. The ceiling fan didn’t work. And the light was a black light. People are literally using the bathroom right outside the building. Trash everywhere! So many other items I can’t mention. DO NOT STAY HERE!
To be fair on this property owner they did organise another hotel in the same area when they had maintenance issues and did walk me to the new hotel. But they probably felt they had to because it is an unsafe area with a lot of drugged people on the streets. But there is also a Police station on the block, which have some assurance.
