Great hotel in Queens Quarter
Great hotel. Easy check in even if there's a tech glitch. I picked the phone up, was automatically put through to their other property and spoke to someone. A few seconds later, the key card was registered and I was able to go to the room. Great service
Poor check in Noise in the bar below (which was anticipated) but not till 3am…
Generally acceptable hotel all in all, poor check in experience due to automated system. Room lighting was very poor and plug sockets were nowhere near the bed or table.
Was unable to check in online however self check in on arrival was very straight forward and had no issues, were even able to check in over an hour early. Room was spotless and ample size. Staff in the bar were on hand for anything we needed and very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and will certainly use again
I wish the walls weren't as thin
I liked the room as I walked in - it was spacious and clean. I also thought the design was quite nice. It felt quite nice and comfy once I settled in. Unfortunately, I could not regulate the water temperature in the shower; it was steaming hot no matter how I turned the handle, which made it impossible to shower. Late at night I realised just how thin the walls were, and other visitors kept waking me up. The room also shook every once in a while as cars drove by; but that didn't disrupt my sleep. I don't know if I would stay there again.
Quirky clean hotel
Very clean and only a short walk from the city centre. Surrounded by plenty of places to eat and also a great bar down stairs
I’ll be back ack ack…..😉
1865 is an old but well maintained hotel. Rooms are spotless. A few cracks around inside the room but expected for the age. Price is good value. Great location.
All staff and facilities were lovely
Excellent location. Opposite the station. The room was quiet even though it was above a pub. Possibly a bit louder at the weekend but we certainly didn't hear anything on a Thursday night. Lovely big room with 2 comfortable beds. A free beer each always a bonus!
Lovely modern hotel, with really easy self check in. Staff are available in the bar downstairs if you have questions, all of them were really friendly and helpful. Great room. Really easy transport links as it's right next to Botanic railway station and bus stop. Would definitely stay here again!
Good location. Power to my bed lamps would occasionally go out. Shower had warm water not hot.

Selfservice was very quick easy.. no7 bus drop u in behing city hall if needed . It only 10 min walk. Lovely restaurant to eat.
Great hotel and location. Super service as I left my AirPods in my room when I left but they contacted me and kept them safe.
great interior design and good check-in but very bad maintenance and service support
Great hotel - free beer at check in!
Great stay. When I had a little trouble with check in, service was prompt and efficient. With the window open the bar below was a little loud, though nothing I wasn’t expecting. We had excellent raps nearby, and the are is very walkable. Highly recommend a walk through the botanical gardens. **warning - after 8am you have to buy a parking ticket if you’re parked on street! We didn’t understand the signage and paid a hefty price for ir**
Above a bar
Very noisy and long check in procedure. Perfect location, though.
Great stay overall, would definitely recommend! Loved the easy check in :)
The hotel was clean and comfortable. The room was large. We had no problems at all. Easy self check in. The area around the hotel was not the best but not too bad. Across the road is Maggie Mays cafe, which i can highly recommend for a fantastic breakfast at reasonable rates.
Great area great place :)
Was very noisy during the night x
Clean and tidy easy check in
Complimentary beer a nice touch
Really bad noise insulation. Can hear everything
Hotel bueno, bonito y barato
Genial. Fue absolutamente increíble. Confortable y limpio. Dormimos muy bien, sin ruidos.
Nice cosy bed in central location
Fantastic location within walking distance of city centre and Queens University/Methodist College. Nice bohemian feel to the area with wide food choice. Even though room was situated over a busy bar with music (we were on 2nd floor), it was quiet and had extra bonus of a cushioned window seat so you could sit and watch life go by. Didn’t use the TV but think all options were available including Netflix. For self check in the process was well communicated and easy to follow, but unfortunately the “free” beer reward was unforthcoming. Bed nice and comfy and tea/coffee making facilities in the room with water a nice touch. Could add more milk.
I would highly recommend. Great place to stay.
My wife and I loved this place. Although the finishings were a little older, it was super clean. The self check-in was super easy. We didn't see any staff other than at the bar downstairs, but our room was serviced daily. If we visit Belfast again, we would consider starting here onee more.
Perfect for a nights stay before Queens Open Day. Great location. Enjoyed lunch there and a pint. Excellent room if a little warm - though it was unseasonably hot for Belfast. A fan was provided though.
Love this place, highly recommend!
Nice facility and location
We stayed above the bar. The noise of people walking home after the bar was much worse than that of the bar music. If you syay here, play your white noise app until 6 am not just til bar close. The property is nice and the bar/food was good. We enjoyed the outdoor seating. Perhaps required pick up at the bar for the gratis beer for self check would be great as there were none in the fridge when we arrived around 5pm. I don't believe it was because staff didn't stock.
It is a bit noisy from the bar, that they did wanr us about. But nothing I really think disturbed since it closes at an decent hour during weekdays. The room was big and felt cost. Really liked this stay.
The 1852
Hotel was in an ideal spot as we were going to a gig at Boucher playing fields, its approximately a 15 minute walk from the city centre but there are taxi's if you don't fancy the walk. The area surrounding the hotel is very busy and noisy, we took ear plugs so slept soundly but without you will be kept awake. The hotel is spotless, the room was a decent size with a king size bed but mirrors/plug sockets were in the wrong places, would be better to have a mirror above the dressing table instead of the tv, and a plug for the kettle as you had to put this on the floor to be able to plug it in.
Great Stay
Stayed one night with friends. Great location a 10min walk to bus station. Plenty bars and restaurants on the doorstep. Clean room. Nice boutique vibe hotel. First class staff.
Very loud music playing outside under the room until 11 PM. Lots of flies in the room.
Property was ideal location for our trip would highly recommend
The hotel does what it says on the tin. Self checkin isn't for everyone I don't suppose but I loved it. Had my key card and was in my room on top floor within 3 mins (although may be I should have gone a bit slower, stairs were a bit much lol). Having the bars on the bottom floor did mean it wasn't the quitest area but to be honest for a city area it was fine and didn't really bother me after the first night. With the bars being owned by the same people it did make life feels a little more comfortable. I did think that the hotel tried to call me on the first night but the call came up as a different hotel so I didn't answer. It was only later I found out it was one they also own! Apologies if your reading this and it was you calling (maybe just a Voicemail would have been nice) :-) The room itself was well appointed, although I did notice the bathroom had a good amount of splash marks on the walls, nothing major but we as a bit odd putting. Unfortunately it also appears the double glazing in 320 has failed as it's constantly condensed at day or night. Not the end of the world we not the most interesting view but would have been nice to see more. All in all i'd stay again for sure :-)
The atmosphere of this hotel is actually pretty cool. It is an old building that has been made into a hotel. It is a little bit like a Beetle Juice Hotel with wonky hallways and doors and winding hallways. It makes it a pretty cool environment. I found the check-in to be really irritating. I WANT to speak with a human. I was tired and not functioning well when I arrived and was unable to complete the automated check-in process. I think that this is very impersonal.
great stay lovely room and easy check in only downside is there’s no aircon and it was a very warm day aside from that it was amazing (also a 2 min walk to greggs)
Really good location, 15min walk to town. Good place to eat immediately outside.
Excellent service and room
The light switch did not work - and then when investigated only one bedside light worked. I lilked the size and cleanliness of the room; and the ease of checkin.
i
I’ll be back.
Excellent location
Very good and comfortable!
Absolutely perfec.
Nice property but a bit difficult to get into if you book through a 3rd party like Expedia as the reference numbers are different. Had to use the phone by the side of the check in computer and it was difficult to hear as there's a bar next door. But overall very decent
Great location - easy check in and out. Lovely touch with the free beers and staff very communicative over message. Was perfect! Thank you
Self check in was great. The staff contact you prior to checking in with a link to generate a code. After difficulty with the initial link sent, the staff promptly assisted us and called later to check we were checked in and asked if we needed any further assistance. Room was clean and modern. Minimal noise during the night. We used both the pub and Chinese below. Both were great. We would definitely stay again!!
Great area for a few drinks - not too far in the taxi to get to the arena. Easy check in once Expedia had sent the email with instructions of how to do so- the girl I messaged then called was very efficient. The free beer was a lovely touch. Bar staff were helpful despite me being a bit of a drunken eejit at the end of the night. Not a quiet area which was perfect for us, just enjoying Belfast and people watching after the gig, and meeting a few colourful locals. The window seat the next morning was a perfect place to watch the world go by. Just could have done with a bit more than 2 little milk pots for the tea.
Great room and easy to check in
Hotel is very close to botanic train station and easy to get to. The self check in is easy to use. Room is very comfortable and clean with everything you might need. We were telephoned to see if we had everything we needed. The room is above the bar and close to lots of eateries and other bars, this means the room is not quiet! However we can't complain about this as when booking this is clearly stated and there was a reduction in the cost. Great place to stay for proximity to amenities
Easy check in and check out. Room had everything we needed. Had a great stay
My bed sheets were full of tan wasn’t not what I expected at all. Plus paid for a day pass in the car part wake up to a 90£ fine I’ll not be back
Okay easy check in. Few bits missed when cleaning rooms and windows when shut still let loads of noise in so could hear people screaming in the street all night and room shakes when a large vehicle drives past
Hotel
Excellent location. Good size room..great shower and comfy bed..bar downstairs great service and atmosphere
Situated above a really cool pub, with a free beer on arrival. Negatives view from window was a wall and and ally. Not much could be helped about it though. Parking was on street in a slightly rougher street. Overall a good stay for the budget price.
Such a great place to stay, big airy rooms, great vibe to the place, lovely bar/restaurant downstairs and overall just fab
A best place to stay in Belfast! A hidden gem
The room was spacious and very nice. I loved the bay window, perfect for people watching! The hotel doesn't have staff on-site but it was seamless and there was free beer as a thank you.
Good for the price. Clean Not enough storage in drawer space and in bathroom Easy check in and out Center of town
It was clean, comfortable and the staff were friendly, that's all we wanted.
It would have been perfect if there is enough lighting fixture in the room. We only have 3 lampshades (1 of which doesn't work). The Hotel is a bit noisy as the pub is just 2 floors down, better when it was around 12mn. The Hotel area is a 15mins walk to the town centre and was surrounded by lovely restaurant and cafes.
Everything is within a mile walk. Safe neighborhood. There is music from the bar below but it did not bother us at all. We would definitely stay at 1852 again
Ups and downs
Located above a busy bar…. So yeah could be a bit noisy…. House keeping staff were super helpful when we needed anything. Room was pretty stuffy…. But crack the window open and yeah it’s noisy… Good location and nicely decorated. No free beer on arrival which was disappointing!
Great hotel, easy to walk into City. Hotel had a great bar and restaurant, which also serves good breakfast. Staff in bar / restaurant are friendly and polite. Only slight negative is drains in bathroom would benefit from a little bleach to clear a very subtle smell. But over all - positive experience.
I received an email at 8:04 saying check-in was open. I filled out a form including a passport scan and credit card details, only to then be told check-in wasn't until 12:00. I tried to enter at 15:04 only to be told check-in doesn't start until 15:00 - "No room available". I called on a phone in reception but the voice on the other side was so quiet I couldn't hear her at first. The shower seemed to slowly get hotter and hotter even when I turned it down to the lowest level. I suspect the mechanism was broke. The location was great, and the room was otherwise good. Nicely decorated and good value.
Excellent stay! Self check in was fantastic
The property is in a good location for exploring Belfast. The main bus station is less than a 10min walk and there is a train station within a 1min walk. Self check in was straightforward and quick. The free beer was a nice touch too. Our room was on the top floor and was really spacious. We also appreciated the complimentary toiletries. The local lingo crib sheet gave us a giggle but came in handy too. I'm glad we were on the top floor as the music from the bar was simply background noise, I'm not sure that we would have managed lower down. Having said that it's clear from the website that rooms are above the bar so we knew that might be an issue. Would definitely recommend.
Everything was good apart from the street noise and the noise coming from the resti downstairs
Enjoyed my stay
Great location, plenty of bars and restaurants on your doorstep. The self check in was no problem and you got rewarded with a free beer on entry. The room was large and clean, the only issue was you can hear next-door blowing their nose, singing and talking away. Quite thin walls. The room had all you needed, smart TV, kettle, iron, hairdryer plenty of toilet roll.
The lack of reception staff was a little strange but I never had any problems so this was fine
The hotel was excellent. It was clean and had everything you need in the room Fan Iron Ironing board every was perfect. Staff fantastic especially Ciara she was a wonderful help. Thanks
Stay here! Amazing!
Perfect little spot outside the city centre but close enough to walk (10 mins max) and plenty to do nearby. Issue with the shower temp was sorted within the day and coming back to a cleaned room every night Would definitely come back to 1852! :)
Very nice - recommend doing the pre-check in service as it’s much quicker.
The room was lovely and clean and the staff were very friendly!
Best people! Best property! Book this!!
Excellent! Comfy and clean
Great place to stay in Belfast! Good location with plenty to eat and drink nearby. 20 mins walk from cathedral quarter. Clean and comfy bed, free beer when you walk in. You cant go wrong.
All good very close to everything
Room smelt a bit like sick when we arrived. Few hairs on the bath towels but just picked them off. If your looking for an early night I highly recommend you stay elsewhere as the bar/restaurant music is on until late at night and the thumping can be heard through earplugs. We were on the 3rd floor so this tells u how loud the music is. Put the service sign on the door early in the morning and came back to the room not being cleaned or serviced so had to go out to buy some water. Other than these few bad points the room we were in was a nice layout and spacious. They self check is easy and quick to use and great for those who are not people persons. There’s free beer you can take from the fridge in the lobby area before you head upstairs which is lovely. Would stay here again if it wasn’t for the music thumping for hours.
Super views, super clean, super comfortable
Lovely hotel, easy sel check-in with a complimentary beer on arrival - winner! Nice spacious room with everything you need, iron, ironing board, hairdryer, coffee making facilities. Lovely shower, comfy bed. Good location, slightly out of city centre, about a 15 minute walk, but lots to see en route. Train station across the road, £2.20 return to the titanic museum. We flew into Belfast international airport and got the bus here, £7.50 pp, very easy.
Nice big room with very little furniture. Only one chair. Needs at least some hooks on walls. Lovely window bench though not very comfortable. Perfect location across from Botanic train station and close (5 min walk) to McCombs tour office if you are taking their tour.
Everyone was struggling with the self check in for different reasons. Hotel was more like a youth hostel. Taped old carpets, sealed bathroom windows, filthy windows, paper thin walls, dark grey walls, no pictures. Kettle had to be put on floor to plug it in. Shower leaked. Two staff were helpful, 2 others not at all. Won’t go back.
Perhaps for the Under 30’s
It was probably our fault for not researching better but this is a very student centric area. The hotel has been painted outside black now which, in my opinion, gives more of a ‘feel’ for the hotel! At 57 I felt we were about 25 years too old!! It was very noisy until 4am. We didn’t fly until 6pm so asked if we could leave our luggage, ‘Yes, of course, we are here from 10am but before that there’s a night porter’ Please be aware this is a ‘contactless hotel’ which meant when we needed to leave for a tour we were told the night porter finishes at 8am on a Sunday and the other staff don’t start until 10am!!! Doesn’t help us…. No help, just that is how it is!!!
Great location. Comfortable updated room. Easy check in and out. Only dislike is the room did not have enough lighting. It was very dark.
Expected more for the price.
The idea for a self-check in is a good one but when you are told numerous times you will receive an email 24 hours before to prepare for check in and don’t receive it this is annoying. This means you have to stand completing all the info at the front door of the hotel on an iPad. The phone which was meant to be to call for assistance no one answered. Thankfully I managed to find the email from when I booked 9 months prior with enough info to progress the check in but it was more time consuming than it needed to be. The quirk of a free beer for using self check in is a nice one but perhaps cater for those who don’t drink too such as a soft drink. The staff at the bar were really friendly and helpful and stored our luggage for us on early arrival and departure. The room was average, smelt a little musty and the bathroom was dated. Our room had a broken shower head with a piece just left in the bath. Thankfully the pressure and temperature were still good. Could do with an update though and to fix broken items. Oddly there were no main lights in the room and so light was reliant on lamps, this inadequate.
The area was lovely and convenient. Self check in went well . The room was great but very very hot and the window did not open . I would suggest more lighting it was quite dark .
Good stay
Liked it overall even though it was a different type check in experience. to improve, please also send a PIN with passcode since both are required to do self check in process or it puts you into a weird loop of errors when you start with passcode but (through trial and error figured out) you have to delete passcode if logging in by last name. Anyway, we older and not totally tech savvy folks figured it out and then it was simple. (So simple that we did it again when hubby lost the key when getting a massage nearby. LOL) Or maybe he just pretended to lose it so he could check-in again and reward himself with another free beer (great idea to reward the self check-in process with a free beer!!) The room was HUGE and very comfortable. Hubby really appreciated the fan to help cool it off since we had to close the windows to sleep (bar/restaurant downstairs had noise that traveled up with windows open). We had drinks at the bar downstairs and sat at tables along the sidewalk to people watch. I appreciated the on-demand heater above each table to keep me warm while sipping cold drinks. Enjoyed our stay.
As always a great place to stay. Nice to be in botanic- always reminiscent of uni days but in a much more comfortable room!
Great place to stay, and area around is lovely and lively. Lots of restaurants and bars, just don’t be afraid to walk the opposite way from the downtown core. The university district is great, and you can find charming pubs such as the Jeggy Nettle (highly recommend for a late pint)
Our room was BOILING hot. When i called and asked for another fan, it never came. The beers that were complimentary were also warm and disgusting, so not much of a perk. Self check in was a nightmare, and I'm only 28. I cant imagine someone older than me trying to navigate that
Rooms was to warm, but other than that room was nice with comfy bed.
Fabulous stay. Would book again.
Lovely big bed, big shower, clean and well-equipped. Would have been good to have had air conditioning as the weather was particularly hot but at least a decent fan was provided and the room cooled down quickly enough. Bed very comfy. A shelf in the bathroom for toiletries would be useful. Great location for walking into the city (15 mins) and to Ormeau Park (20mins). Free bottles of beer in the reception an added bonus 😁
We could NOT Locate property because it’s above the bar. Finally walked & found it . Parking is all on street parking & we were afraid to leave the rental. Not bad area , we decided NOT to stay because we were not sure of security with 2 women by themselves. NOT sure there was any staff at all in the place at nighttime. Wouldn’t even issue a refund for second prepaid night. There are lots of rooms in Belfast …got a keep last minute rate at the Hampton INN.
For me 74 year old. It’s too hard to come upstairs. There’s no elevator. I got the floor. But thank you manager transfer me to another hotel. Thank you for that.
Great stay!
Don’t stay here if you like to sleep
What a stupid hotel. Two bars downstairs playing music so loud until 3am that my whole body was vibrating along to the music. Until 3am!!! The bed was shaking. The windows rattling. They eventually moved us up one floor which helped with the vibrating room but was then half the size (which kind of mattered with four women)!
End of year stay
Excellent location but not the nicest quality for price.
