Nice getaway

It is conveniently located. It has shovels available for going to hot water beach. Room is spacious. The back patio is nice place to relax.

The rooms are well planned decorated and clean! Great walking access to the wharf and high tide beach

Fine for the area

Room was ready with no problem checking in. Email had instructions for self checkin. Room was a little worn but clean. Bed was comfortable. Tairua has one nice restaurant among a lot of take away places. Not on the beach.

Very Nice!

Great location and nicely sized accommodations.

The rooms were clean and comfortable on the inside. The property on the outside was very unkept. Driving in made me very worried. The owner was very helpful and was helpful with beach towels, dining advice and grocery shopping. Overall our stay was pleasant. Easy walk to a small town. Lots of walking trails and drivable ocean beach.

Was a pleasant stay. Lovely area. Steven was really helpful and Friendly. Room was tidy, bed comfortable. Nice having a deck to sit on. Maybe change the tea. Was weak and horrible. Just spray the weeds and the property would look so much better. Would stay again.

A last minute one night stay - lovely large suite with outdoor patio. Clean, light and very comfortable. Would definitely stay again!

Excellent all around.

No one to greet us on arrival just a note on window of reception! Have stayed here a lot and since new owners the grounds have been left to grow weeds even the little patio off our room. Shower was shocking - water temperature up and down then totally cold and with no pressure!

Seems to be premium price from average stay. Not too sure we would stay there again.

Terrible motel, Will not recommend at all

Way over priced. We paid NZ$254.20 for 1 night on Dec 26, 2019. Will only rate the Motel as 1 or no star.

We were in an attractive and quite spacious studio unit with a courtyard. The decor, including artwork, was pleasant. We had a couple of malfunctions with appliances but staff dealt with this immediately - and cheerfully. The unit is close to the estuary and a short, lovely walk into the townshio. One slight problem is ventilation in the bathroom. To air it you need to open the windows which are right beside the drive/path to the office so with the windows open other guests or staff can see in. Perhaps security stays on those windows are the answer.

The garden area needs work

In a nice position and only a few minutes walk from the bay shore and ferry. 10 minute easy walk to restaurants.

We were lucky to have a BBQ in our small garden, and manage to cook some local meat. A good place to stay for relaxing

Hidden away, this property was run by a very pleasant young couple. The accommodation, with moderate space, has been partly upgraded (as you see on the web page, the bathroom is an open concept and our unit had a newer tile floor). Just enough room to have open two suitcases and not much else. The patio furniture was not pleasant at all, but the patio area did provide a quaint ambience. We did not cook, but even at that, there was very limited equipment (down to the point of not having any forks in the cutlery drawer). The TV sheet said 7 channels were available, where you could only receive 5. The bed was very comfortable and a freestanding fan was the only means to stay cool. Overall the price was much more than what I expected for the lower quality of accommodation. Again, nice folks taking care of the place, but they could do better, or charge less.

Well located hotel near bay and ferry jetty

Pleasant hotel near to bay and ferry jetty to other side. Close to shops and town facilities. Great place to start a walk around the beautiful bay. Rooms 1 to 4 have semi-private little gardens behind them. Rooms 5-8 have small private gardens behind them - see photo.

Sweet little suite in Tairua!

The suite/motel room was SUPER clean. No water view, unfortunately, and no A/C (no screen windows either) so you had to kind of air things out while the sun was out (and the mosquitos were gone!) but a cute little spot and good value.

Nice tidy, clean and private room. Unfortunate that the staff weren't about most of the time, the toilet leaks a little which is bit annoying in the middle of the night and the fridge is more like a freezer.

Nice unit with a private courtyard

The hotel was perfect for one night and had everything we needed to sleep well, have a long shower, prepare dinner in the kitchen and have an extended breakfast on the sunny patio. The check-in / check-out staff was super nice and an added bonus.

Decent price - good location

Location is good. Hotel staff are nice and helpful. The bay view from the room was pretty - wish we had more time to enjoy. Close to restaurant and shops. The only thing is the shower door is not a good design so the water leaks to the floor.

Flies

The outside door was standing open, and there were flies. I had notified the owners that chemical and fragrance would trigger my asthma. So they sprayed for flies then left the room wide open to air out. That would have been swell, but no window or door had a screen, so it was flies or fresh air. It was also raining and very humid, so it was also a choice between fresh air and flies or sweltering and no flies. Apparently window screens are rather rare in NZ, so when we inquired the woman looked rather blank. She did say she appreciated our comment....several times. It was very disappointing, especially since other than that, the location, upkeep, cleanliness and comfort were all excellent.
