Good facilities but room could be better
Spa facilities pool were great , breakfast nice but room condition a little tired compared to other hotels I have stayed in Shanghai for similar price bracket. Eco friendly with no use of single plastics but this meant I felt short of things I would normally expect and having to ask for them felt like extra effort that I didn’t want to do. Room smelt a little Smoky.
Excellent service for a 10-night stay
Had a 10 night stay in Swissotel Grand Shanghai and enjoyed the great service throughout. All their service staff were very warm and friendly. The hotel itself is a little dated, given its an old building, but relatively well maintained. Our original room window wasn't able to close properly after we ventilated the room, the staff quickly accepted our request for a room change and even upgraded us to a slightly better room at no charge, and gave us free breakfast to go with for our remaining stay (separate note, the breakfast quality isn't good for a 5-star hotel I must say). A few tiny gestures illustrated their attention to details, e.g. giving us extra bottles of water, tissue, as we both were having a bad bout of running nose and cough. We also did a fair bit of online shopping and they've also assisted us kindly in the deliveries to the room without fail. Will definitely consider to return here to stay whenever I return to Shanghai in future.
Nice place for shopping. Very convenient location.
The pool and spa are excellent. The staff is great. It’s very clean and comfortable at a good price. The breakfast was great too.
Pillow is soft and uncomfortable, didn't have good sleep during the stay.
Great location for everything!
A great stay as they worked hard to accommodate my needs.
Reception staff are very helpful and professional, especially the manager郑宝。he went all way out to help get medication for my friend who was unwell at the middle of the night. Will definitely recommend
👍
Good location ,nearby lots of eatery , very close to Jingan Temple and subway.
Excellent
Great location. Great hotel staff. Great hotel.
Excellent
Great hotel with great location. Next to subway, shopping center and Jing A Temple. There are tons of restaurants nearby. Hotel is nice as well!
It’s a very convenient place, subway 2, 7, 14 are right down there, so many nice restaurants are around, no need to eat at hotel‘s restaurants which are expensive and not really tasty.
The location is perfect. Subway is right there.
Lovely hotel, was looked after with an early check in, lots of high end shopping very close
Very convenient location, subway is just down there within 3 minutes walking distance.
Location
A wonderful hotel
Excellent in every way plus good value!
Slow check in
Great stay
Great 3 night stay it’s located in the hart of Shanghai
Good
I like the location of this hotel, which is close to many good restaurants and shopping malls. The subway system is very accessible leading to various areas of the city. The service and breakfast are, I would say, better than average of hotels in Shanghai that I stayed in of the same price range.
How they handle deposits. It's a nightmare. Even full paid upfront, the deposit need 5 weeks. And can't be used for dining in. Need to be paid extra. So the credit card needs additional range. Useless for business trips with many hotel changes.
Hotel is ok for a four star but the service is not great. I had a parcel delivered to the hotel but no one willing to check the address label to see if is my parcel so it just got left there in the corner of the hotel.
Good hotel in a great location
Overall, very good. My only minor inconvenience was the noise from the room above early in the morning as the cleaners were scraping furniture across the floor. Very noisy unfortunately.
I stayed 5 nights at this hotel with my daughter, we’ve heard a weird noise on Friday’s afternoon sound like from lovers made special exercise, It really made us embarrassed
Staff are very helpful. Definitely will come back!
The hotel was beautiful. The staff was very helpful. I especially loved the pool and sauna. Very relaxing. The pool attendant female desk attendant was very helpful. I lived in SH for 3 years so it was like a homecoming. Right next to Jing'an Temple too. Great location! Loads of shopping and restaurants in this area. Loved it!
Good location, fresh and clean with friendly staff. Good breakfast but not excellent
Too many flaws
A weirdly designed room with very little electricity sockets for your devices. Also, only 2 small complimentary water bottles provided per day (which was never enough). One day, the maid just took the used shower gel and shampoo and didn’t bother to put new ones in the bathroom at all. The only few good things are the location and a gentleman near the door who was kind enough to point me to the direction of a printing store closeby.
The air conditioning was automatically set to an uncomfortable level during the day and could not be adjusted
lost in the Translation
It was good as always. I had issue I left my scale in the room and called right away to get it put away for me so I could pick up when I stay there again the next week. They didn't do it and lost it !! they didn't care or try and help. its my fault but they should of haved it.
Wonderful place to stay
Excellent location with 3 mins walk to metro and close to shopping mall ... this is not my first time to stay in Swissotel ...
Very well located with subway next door. One of my favorite hotels in Shanghai, especially for business travels.
Great location easy access to metro. Close to Grand Temple
All good - except pool was closed for renovation when I visited!
Value for money
It is dated but in great location ! Great price ! So very good value for money . Stayed twice already and will do it again .
Great Hotel to stay very central and staff are fabulous
Very good standard business hotel
Very good business hotel with nice rooms, good breakfast and good hospitality service. Very professionally run. Most personnel speaks good English. Could upgrade/modernise the rooms in the next year or two to be better.
Great location. Very helpful staff. Property clean and nice.
Average stay
Great location, hotel is a little tired, the pool was not open which was very frustrating.
Very comfortable and friendly staff. Will stay again on next time.
A good hotel near the temple Exit 3
Still a nice hotel but the area is not as full of western food options as it was five years ago and the beds are harder than they were previously. The area is definitely a high-end shopping area which will appeal to the shopping type .
Location is just great. Very central and very close to line 2. Since I am on a business trip I need to charge few electronics each night only to find out that there was only ONE electric outlet!
An oasis
Excellent - beds, location, staff. No complaints. I don’t stay again.
Position is very good to walk to various places also very good compared to metro.
Great location. Right across from a 7 story shopping mall. Rooms were nice, but the beds were kinda small. They have a very nice spa for women and an indoor pool.
Slow service at front desk, calls not answered
Great Locstion
Good business hotel. Great location
I love the location so much. Very convenient to almost everything. I just hope that the cleaners change the bedsheets everyday as I was paying the same rate everyday. Same rate means guests are expecting same fresh room with fresh sheets and towels everyday as how the room was during their first day checked-in.
the room only has 1 chair at the desk, it would be nice to have another chair - can be a light weight - even IKEA style fixed position chair to sit comfortable at the table so 2 person can chat over coffee or tea.
Should have a reminder to airport service as mandatory request to customers
Central locations
Great location central of everything ... only thing was the bed was hard the typical standard Asian preferred but not foreigner...
Two Days in Jing’An
This hotel has excellent staff from reception to concierge to housekeeping. All were friendly and efficient. I spoke to the staff mostly in Chinese, but many of them can speak English with ease. I often stay in the Jing’An Temple area when in Shanghai and tried Swissotel this time, great location and staff service are the reasons I will consider staying at thus property again
Breakfast is OK but there is limited variety of food provided in dinner. buffet dinner was not worthy. Air-conditioning in the room was unstable overnight.
Excellent property with first-class service. My only disappointment was that there are no bedside electrical outlets and I am accustomed to plugging in my phone and having it bedside. In the morning I discovered an electrical outlet for the hairdryer on the bathroom shelf that was close enough to plug in my phone and have it bedside.
They took picture of us and lied to us that it’s required by law but other hotels don’t do that. Why lie?!
Location was very good Hotel name, what was expected and what i received was totally different
Hard mattress
Nice hotel and great location. The staff are helpful, just bit slow when checked in.
good stay, nice clean room, good Variety of Menu but check in should be faster, It took almost 10 mins standing in line , if there are guests standing then should open 1 or 2 more counters. But otherwise overall satisfactory stay
Comfort and convenience
Very convenient trip. Everything went smooth, easy check in and out. Nice and quiet room, very convenient location. All good!
Very convenient location, clean and nice. Will definitely stay again
Strategic Location let down by poor room condition
Good location in upscale shopping belt. Let down by relatively poor room condition. Room was warm with faulty toilet door.
Location is of value. Hotel is deteriating over the yrs.no updates to rooms. Rooms are not updated over last five yrs. better hotels more modern in area.
Flying visit business layover
Great location, friendly staff, good value.
Check in was a nightmare, took 1 hour. Lobby is super cold and I asked to speak to manager twice and never saw him. Other than restaurant staff, lobby staff were not friendly.
very good location, easy access to subway station and other attractions.
Best hotel for location and value in Shanghai
Best location in Shanghai in my opinion. Central and walkable. Hotel is discreet. Rooms are all very high standard and recently refurbished. Excellent hotel.
Swissotel Grand Shanghai provides wonderful service and is at a great location.
Pros: -good staff speaking excellent English! -great location Cons: -terrible bed! Felt like sleeping on hard stone, my back hurts. -aircon is very noisy. Expensive compared to value
WiFi Connection
Wifi comes and goes throughout the few days that I stayed. Everytime I reported it, they come and fiddle a little and spent the time explaining they are not IT expert with no intention of fixing it once and for all. It severely affected my work. Would not go back to this hotel
Great location
It's a great location for my business trip; just a few minutes walk to the office which I enjoy. There's also plenty of shops and F&B around here, so just a buzzy spot near to the train station. Room is clean and spacious. Breakfast adequate - I get what I need before I go off to the office.
Best Hotel and Will Stay There Again
My husband and I stayed this hotel for 3 nights later September this year. It was the best hotel we stayed during our visiting in China. It has all the amenities for a 4 star hotel. The location was very good with easy access to subway (only a few steps away) and public transportations. The room was clean and the bedding was of high quality. The front desk staff were nice and specially the manager who was very nice and accommodate to our needs. The breakfast was outstanding with variety of freshly made Chinese and Western style breakfast items and kitchen staff and service personnel were very friendly. It definitely stands out comparing to the rest of 4 star hotels we stayed in Yangzhou, Nanjian and Hangzhou. We will go back to this hotel if we visit Shanghai again and will highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Shanghai in near future.
A great stay
My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Swissotel. The room and service was great! We would not pass up an opportunity to stay there again.
Check in and check out were slow, bed was hard. Other than that, everything was fine. Great location, short walk for shopping and dining. Will stay again.
Executive lounge service is pretty good,I would like to recommend to friends.
Convenient location
The staff are helpful and well trained to answer questions with solution.
Booked room only a few hours before check in. Got view of small, rear courtyard. Hotel and its staff and its location are great.
Hotel location is excellent. Easy access to nearby restaurants and shops. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our very short stay and would like to return in the near future.
Amazing Staff
It was a wonderful stay, staff are very cordial. the hotel room was spacious and very clean, I would recommend it to friends and associate and will definitely stay again next time.
Good location n pool
No need carry umbrella with subway entrance just across the lane. Pool length of 20M just right for a daily workout.
good location
in the heart of city, can easily travel to every tourist points, also to the Pudong airport with bus just next hotel. hotel facility is nice, swimming pool and spa are good condition. shall recommend to overseas traveler..
JingAn
check-in is always a "disaster" but hotel location is good and rooms not bad ...
The staff is very bad, not nice, not helpful. Not professional. The hotel room is old and very noisy with the air conditioning. Washroom is very dirty
SWISSOTEL
;GOOD HOTEL; STAFF ARE HELPFUL; CLEAN ROOM; CLOSE TO EVERYWHERE.
I traveled with 4 colleagues who separately booked our rooms through Expedia. Upon arrival, it took a long time for the check-in as the receptionist could not find my name. A lady, who seemed to be a more senior, helped to fix the check-in. However, I later found out that she used my colleague's name for check-in my room. My last night at the hotel was even worst. After a day's work, I could not open the door of the room using the card and the hotel could not find out the reason but I am too tired to get things packed for moving to another room. It is the worst experience that I ever have.
Outstanding Staff and services
Keep coming back for the last 4 years! Night Director Roby incredible hard working man always up to 5 stars standards. Never miss any details, clean rooms esay going front deak staff very polite and always professional readybfor the extra mile! Love it, thank uou
Really Good
Staff very friendly, facility clean and confy, location location location
Great weekend stay at Swissôtel
I really liked my room + view. The surrounding area is great for exploring.
Nice Hotel in good location
Great location. Hotel is nice, rooms are a good size.
excellent location, good facilities, good value!
Convenient location
It's at a great location, very close to subway stations. Can find restaurants within walking distance. Friendly and accommodating hotel staff. Clean room. I am happy with my stay there.
WiFi and AC are weak, but great service/location
The WiFi and AC were inconsistent and neither were very strong, depending on the day. The staff provide excellent service and brought me a fan because I couldn't get my room to go below 22C. Doors in this hotel slam when they close, which can also be problematic to sleeping, but the hotel is a great location. Good movie channels (HBO Starz movies etc) but a lack of outlets near the bed made it so I couldn't charge my laptop or phone while using them. Probably not the best hotel for business stays considering this and the poor WiFi.
Great stay with good value
It was nice and comfortable, I was able to do my workout in the room with the mat provided. The swimming pool and sauna area is clean and spacious.
Excellent except one fatal deficiency
The only problem I think of about this stay was that there not enough usable power outlet to charge all my devices. The two outlets that are more easily reachably were not usable: the holes of the sockets were so big the plugs fell right off. And there are no USB outlets common in many new or newly renovated hotels.

A great choice.
A great place to stay when in Shanghai. Comfortable, clean, close to great food options, metro and shopping. I will definitely stay here again if ever in Shanghai again.
