Great hotel
It was a wonderful stay
Water form the tap and shower was very oily. Probably such water contained something and it feels like not so good.
The room is spacious
This hotel has everything that a five star hotel has. The breakfast is amazing. Very peaceful sleep without any noise. A bit far from the old town where everything is but we can catch grab to go anywhere so cheap. Staff are friendly and attentive. We would definitely stay here again
Amenities are ancient, one of the towels had stains on it. Room was upkeep after one night.
1) Poor swimming pool, gym (too small swimming pool and water level is too low) 2) Only provide 1 card key 3) Slow elevator 4) Poor breakfast (food is nearly dried and no variety) I will never stay here again.
Good breakfast Pool is a little small
Elevator is slow!
The room was much larger than expected. It was actually more like an apartment than a hotel room and I liked that because it was comfortable. The place was clean the staff very friendly and helpful. The one thing I would say is when I asked for more water I was old they only supply X number of waters per day. This is fine of course but since water is a basic commodity I would say sending two more bottles would not break the bank but make the customers feel comfortable. That said, I would return because everything was excellent.
A suite we booked was very spacious and well appointed. The hotel staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating for out of country tourists. The breakfast was well done and convenient to start off each day. The spa was amazing and I think we got four massages while we were there. I highly recommend it.
Room was clean tidy, staff were helpful. The breakfast was amazing!
"Clean hotel with exceptional staff; however, the apartment-style rooms, particularly the bathrooms, are due for an update."
Rooms were ok but the bathrooms need updating. Rust on metal panels are very visible especially on the corners on the shower enclosures.
Great service and great staff , excellent customer service
Family suite was very spacious and facilities good. Clientele and services (food, language etc) appear to be aimed at Japanese and Korean visitors. Breakfast is standard buffet breakfast - good but not exceptional. Traffic is very heavy and location not very central but Grab was very efficient, cheap and quick to get around even in peak hour.
There is sauna and pool. Bidet and good mattress
Hotel Is very nice and the staff is excellent.. The breakfasyis great and offer lots of choice. The area is easy access (by car) to many nice shopping areas. But Hanoi is crowded , cannot escape that!
Room was great and spacious. Breakfast buffet was average
Pleasant
Comfortable stay. Rooms large and spacious and staff very courteous. Very nice experience overall.
The service in this hotel is outstanding. Staff are always available and helpful whenever you need them. One staff in particular, bellman Mr Viet, has been the most helpful member of staff so far on my travels. His English is so fluent, it really surprised me that he has never spent time in an English speaking country. He advised me of how to travel, where to go and was always friendly and happy to help, in a professional manner. I personally think he should be in a higher position. The pool is a bit old. Massage was great from Lin. Great housekeeping. The only down side to this hotel is the location from the old quarter and town. But taxi's are quick to arrive and cost around 100,000 VND (6 AUD). In the evenings a couple of nights there was really loud music coming from a neighbouring building. All in all, i was happy with this hotel.
The Hotel is a little out of the Hanoi Old Quarter so the surrounding area is not really geared to tourists. However, the staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. They made our stay a pleasure.
All was good except bed a bit hard.
This hotel truly offers an outstanding experience with its delicious breakfast, welcoming staff, and fantastic amenities including an indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna bath. The relaxation opportunities are endless. Plus, it's conveniently located just 5KM from the old quarter area. Overall, this hotel is truly excellent.
Instead of writing another typical review about the property, I want to tell you about an event that occurred during our stay in Vietnam this week and how one person made an impact on the quality of our visit to this great country. My wife and I booked an overnight excursion to Sapa through a local tour company. The company had agreed to pick us up at the hotel and asked us to be waiting outside at 6:30 AM. Let me add, I had confirmed our agreement and arrangements again the night before. We waited for an hour getting several different stories from the tour company as to why the driver hadn’t shown. Around 7:35 AM, Mr. Chung, the hotel manager came outside personally to ask us what was happening. Upon explanation of our dilemma, Mr. Chung asked for the tour operator’s phone number. He then called to find out that the driver had apparently headed for Sapa and knowingly left us behind. I don’t speak the language so I have no idea what was said next but the thing. I know Mr Chung arranged for a taxi driver to chase down and meet the driver on hotel expense. He then even helped us carry our bags to the car. At the end of the day, my wife and I had a wonderful trip thanks to the actions of our hotel manager taking customer service to a new level. When we tried to thank him he was very humble and pretended it was nothing. But he didn’t know that I too work as a customer service manager and I realized the effort that he made to fix our problem was beyond the norm.
Everything is good.
I like. Very good
Great
Great unit and beautiful hotel
Good hotel. Rooftop bar could have been a bit better
We like this hotel and the Japanese influence. Big rooms at a reasonable price. Great staff.
We’re happy with our time in Super Hotel candle and would definitely return. Around 10 minutes from Hanoi centre
Good location, great staff. Large clean room with good amenities but bed a bit hard
Great place! The hotel allowed up to have a late check out without paying.
Not my favourite place in Hanoi
Bed far 2 hard for comfortable sleep. Not enough hot water. Noisy.
Good value room and comfy.
The manager at the front desk was outstanding! The other staff were also very good. The restaurant was ok and the pool facilities were very good. The dryer in the room and shower in the second bedroom did not work. The beds and pillows were very comfy and overall the stay was quite good.
A bit out of the way
The hotel itself was clean and comfortable and had good amenities. With the exception of the front desk staff, not many spoke English so it was a bit more difficult to communicate. The location was better suited to a business trip than to a tourist visit as nothing of great tourist interest was within easy walking distance.
Great Stay
Hotel was beautiful; clean; good breakfast choices and friendly service staff
Nice stay in Hanoi
Very nice stay in Hanoi, the hotel seems comfortable, has a small pool, sauna and gym, which seems to be enough. Great breakfast selection, very nice staff, very attend and polite. The location is kind of local, perhaps not the best for tourists, but a short taxi trip to other areas
Helpful staff & good breakfast. Meals in restaurant were average. Pool, spa and gym were closed for annual maintenance which must have been planned but no notification given at any point. Would have gone somewhere else if we’d known. Also, Skybar was closed and the other bar in lobby was limited in choice. Hotel is some distance from central Hanoi and, should you wish to walk there, the first part of the journey requires you to walk in the busy roads due to mopeds parked on pavement. Not suitable for young children.
A lot of the things that were a unique feature of the hotel such as the skyline bar and the pool were closed
Very nice hotel and location. A little tired but good facilities and very friendly staff. Loved our stay though and would stay again! Thank you and happy New Year!
Good hotel with good staff and facilities. Location and street are messy but you can go to Hoang Hoa Tham street from there, you will discover an amazing area and typical ambiance.
Hotel excellent service
I had a delayed baggage during my trip. The front desk handle my issue with ease. They even helped me call to ensure my bag got here on time and it was reassuring. I’m happy with the help of the staff. Excellent hotel
Hotel staff were friendly. It was mainly catering for business customers so we were the odd ones. The pool was small but nice to relax and stretch. The sauna and steam room were on a timer which we could not fathom. Used spa for manicure and massage both lovely. Housekeeping ladies were very helpful. The food was very tasty and there was ample choice. There was a language barrier but we all overcame it and added to the ambiance of a new city. Would definitely return.
OK but with some issues.
Ok, overall. Some issues: 1. Confusion on check in about the number of guests staying (despite the fact that I speak Vietnamese). Ultimately cleared up, but the attitude was essentially "take it or leave it". 2. Breakfast was the same each morning and somewhat sub-par. 3. Air conditioning seemed to be locked to the heating cycle with no ability to turn on cooling. Understand it was "winter" in Hanoi, but there were some days when it was a bit ward. 4. Bathroom a bit old and supbar. On the positive side: With exception of front desk on the first day (late pm check in), staff were very friendly and helpful. The "pillow" cabinet that appears to be on each floor with choices of pillows was a neat different idea. Not much to say for the surrounding area. I was staying here because of proximity to family for the Lunar New Year celebrations.
Great value. Had a convenient and pleasant stay.
Stayed three nights for my business trip to Hanoi. A bit far from the city's touristy districts, but very well located to the business centers in the city. Found this hotel is very convenient and pleasant. They provide a wide variety of food for the complementary breakfast. Good value.
Nice place to stay, breakfast is OK.
Mediocre hotel with a low level of service
This hotel is priced high for the area. The rooms are OK, the appearance is OK, but the details really let it down. Heavy blackout blinds didn't extend past the window so at 5:15 light poured into the room and by then the neighborhood roosters and dogs were up too. I couldn't figure out how to use the shower. The japanese-oriented breakfast had limited selection though a very high staff ratio ensured that plates were whisked away before I was finished, spoiling the chance for a nice quiet breakfast. The real bone of contention was that I was a business traveler and needed the local "red invoice" to ensure that my company can pay for the room, but the hotel claimed to not be able to supply this because I booked through Expedia, despite my regularly booking hotels through Expedia and never having been refused a red invoice previously. I won't stay again.
Ok hotel in Hanoi
We stayed at the hotel 4 nights. The room was tidy and big (service apartment). The staff was friendly, but some of them didn't speak English very well. But they tried their best.
Good cost performance
Wifi was too weak even for browsing.
Nice hotel with great staff
Staff were very helpful throughout my stay. This is an older hotel, but it's clean and has character. Good location- slightly closer to the airport than staying in the old sector if Hanoi.
Hanoi, Vietnam
Loved the niceness and ease of everything
Good size rooms, indoor pool and gym.
Friendly, good breakfast, easy to deal with. Roof top bar is a bit lack lustre. Gym has the basics. There is a sauna and steam bath. Food is good.
This was not a 3 star hotel. The hotel was grubby, the carpets threadbare, the bedding and rooms were damp, we had a rodent walk between the ceiling and the floor above, the wires we were coming away from the plug sockets and the staff were more occupied with their phones than attending to guests. The laundry service was also expensive.
Like a palace amongst the trash,,
The area around the hotel is dirty and traffic is crazy, but once inside you are treated very well, the staff are lovely and the rooms are very good, tours are cheap, and Taxi into town is only about 120VND ($4.00) there are local shops all around the hotel and its only about 30 mins from the airport. The staff are wonderful, But they are a bit concerned about Japanese Tourists, because the Japanese don't like noise, and Australians are known to party hard, But if you respect that, they will help with every little detail... Great hotel, Great staff, great value
Good experience.
I was upgraded to a serviced apartment, which included 2 bedrooms, living room, a kitchen with a laundry machine and stove. But no fridge! I asked at the front desk and they promptly brought a fridge, but it was a little strange. However, I can say that this is a pretty good hotel and doesn't get enough credit. Location isn't great, but it's a sort taxi to downtown and the area will change greatly in the next year or so with the addition of the new Lotte hotel down the street. Food at the restaurant was pretty good and much better than what other reviewers had suggested. I think my rom needed a through scrub, but was fairly clean. For the price, this is a great deal.
Nice hotel but in bad location
The hotel itself is nice, clean with friendly staff. Hot water is good and powerful. The rooms is big and spacious, with a small basin and many drawer. There are many power plug with international adaptor so good for charging many devices. Free wifi and free breakfast. However, the wifi need to keep on logging in every time and wifi speed is not fast. Once bath, the water will flow and wet the flow. Corridor is dark. The location is bad as there is nothing around the hotel. Food serves in the hotel restaurant is not good.
Not a bad location. It's near to many restaurants.
room is clean and comfortable to stay in. staffs are friendly and helpful. I would not mind to stay in the Hotel again if I visit Hanoi again. They have gym and steam bath, which is quite good.
Not bad but a few inconvenient
We had personal affairs to attend in the west side of Hanoi so we thought that Candle location would be a plus: it is not so bad but it was difficult for the taxi to get to the hotel as Doi Can Road is one way for car (not for motorcycles) . For your information, It cost us 100 000 VNM$ (+_5$ USD) to get to the old town and 125 000 for coming back (we went there one night) Staff was very nice, smiling and friendly. We took the deluxe room- big enough but contrary to the description on Hotels.com, there was not a washer-dryer in the room and no indication of where there could be one. The air conditioning unit keep stopping In the middle of the night (we were there 4 nights) which was not so nice in September in Hanoi! Breakfast was good. Swimming pool need a bit of love: no towel, a bit dirty.. No air conditioning in the fitness center and no towel (well, sometime, they had facecloth ) . Overall, for the price, it is not a bad hotel.
nice hotel, strange neighborhood
The hotel was very nice, especially the pool, but we had some problems with our sink and toilet. Rooftop bar was overprices and not very fun. Not in the main downtown area but possible to walk to ho chip mihn museum (at least as possible as it is to walk anywhere in Hanoi). We did discover the weird and wonderful Hanoi Zoo because we were in this neighborhood even though it wasn't in any of the guidebooks its a must-see.
Pleasant surprise
Didn't expect too much, but the Candeo (or Candle, as it's in the process of rebranding to) will be my new default hotel in Hanoi. Lovely attentive staff, great location (there is life around the hotel, compared to the Crowne Plaza, which is out in the sticks), good breakfast, and a very decent price.
tasty breakfast with the fantastic bakery
very clean hotel and tasty breakfast
very comfortable
Great breakfasts
My stay was very comfortable with attentive and friendly staff. Room was made up every day to a high standard. I'm pleased to see that many hotels, like this one, are now putting notices up that they consider the environment so please hang up towel if you don't need it washed today etc. It was a bit annoying then that every single light (and there were many) was switched on after they had made up the room. This goes against the eco-message that many foreigners are concerned about. There were black outs at night but the hotel had a big generator for back out so no inconvenience to guests. Swimming pool was good so a shame that the complex is less than a year old and the tiles are beginning to fall off. The hotel looks good now but several things I noticed were of poor workmanship so will need repair before long. The electronic bidet was a new experience for me.
A nice hotel
I stayed there for 5 nights. Location is good depending on where you wanted to be, but not too far from some major attractions. Hotel is nice and large and clean. They put me up in a very nice room and the stuff in the mini bar was all free, which was a plus. The gym facilities were also good. My only fault was that the dinner food was reserved as the breakfast food the following day. And I believe the breakfast food from the previous day was being reserved as the new breakfast for the current day. Solution? Skip all of the food in the hotel since it isn't good anyways. Go somewhere else for the food (which you should be doing anyways) and stay here for the nice facilities. The workers there were nice and friendly and inviting.
Decent hardware but stingy service
Decent hardware considering the age but questionable service for a four star hotel. Refused to give two key cards even if we booked a twin bedroom.
Good
Every time I go to Hanoi i book the Super Candle. Their strongest suits are the massage (Linh) and the front desk (the Manager and Dat). Highly recommended
It's great that the convenience store is open 24 hours.
Très bien.
A 4 star hotel with a 5 start staff. The staff is really kind and will try to help you in every possible way. Dat spent nearly 2 hours to find me a Ha Long cruise, and only at the end I found out that he did that on his day off. Also the massages and food are really good. My only recommendation is for more staff to improve their English, other than that, 0 complaints. I'll be back for sure.
Schöne Unterkunft. Sauna könnte eine Renovierung gut gebrauchen. Service sehr freundlich und kundenorientiert.
Mukava hotelli, siisti, hyvä palvelu, pikku kauppa alakerrassa oli kiva yllätys. Ainut huono asia katu hotellin edessä, mahdoton liikenne päivä aikaan, muuta eihän se ole hotellin vika. Voin suositella.

Large space!
It was fantastic for us to have a large space (2 bed apartment) in the middle of our Vietnam trip. The hotel felt a little outdated though and the main bathroom flooded into the hallway and the poor hotel staff was on her hands and knees with me trying to mop up! It felt like the drain in the bathroom was uphill rather than down.... Location was fine for walking but tours would not pick us up due to not being in the old quarter, travellers beware! Local shops meant we could easily access food and the staff were very helpful.
