Loved the location and the small but super cozy suite. Pool was a short walk across the parking lot, which we didn’t find an inconvenience at all. Would stay here again.
The room , location
Next door people were loud and partying until 4:25am
You get what you pay for here. The room was almost exactly as pictured, and there was heated underground parking. A few negatives that we had were the room was not cleaned very well, when we checked in, our 3yr old found a napkin under the bed within 10 mins of being there. There were no towels available at the pool despite the front desk saying there would be, and because it is in a different building, I had to run across the parking lot soaking wet in the middle of winter to get towels from our room for the rest of my family. They also had a leak happen just down the hall from us the morning before we checked in and they had loud fans running 24/7. None of the games in the game room worked. The beds and bathroom were clean so that is one of the positives.
Overall, it is a nice hotel. Staff at the front desk was nice and helpful. However, it would be nice if it was mentioned that you need to go outside to get to the swimming pool. Sunset Mountain Inn and Spa is not connected to the building where swimming pool is located. Also, it would be nice if they provided bathrobes so you can comfortably cross the street to get to the swimming pool.
The property was great but nothing spectacular. We have no complaints and the staff was friendly and helpful
Friendly staff, room was spacious and clean, Beds were comfortable, kitchen was great and fully stocked
Jacky at front desk was really welcoming and realy nice!
Love this property each time we stay here. The staff is friendly and helpful. Live the heated underground parking and the ease of check-in
The unit that we had was absolutely amazing. Management had up graded our stay from 1 bedroom to a condo unit and we truly loved it. Will definitely book a similar unit the next time we’re in the area. Thanks.
We liked the closeness to everything in the area and Banff. And we loved the pool and hot tub.
Stayed here for 4 nights and it was lovely. Check in and out super easy. Accessible parking and door codes instead of cards was so nice for us. Also loved the easy access pool and hot tub next door. Worth it in my option for the price and decently close to Banff. Would book here again.
Everything was great
Dated property. Airconditioning not working, fortunately there is an electric fan in the room and it is there for a reason
The staff are very helpful
Loved the space!! 2 rooms and kitchen area!
Overall the property was fine, nothing was super standout amazing or terrible. The A/C only works above certain temperatures which left us hoping the one window and provided fan would cool the room enough to be comfortable (it didn't) and though a nice touch, most of the machines in the game room are semi-functional at best. It was a bit daunting figuring out where to go for the pool since it is located in a separate building, and the "change room" is non-existant but that would be on the other property to assess. Again, the experience was fine, the staff were friendly and welcoming, but this would not be my first choice for our next stay in Canmore.
We sure appreciated the kitchenette and the extra room it provided. Staff accommodating!
It was ok for our stay ... the room was hot and limited air flow from the small window ... we were also woken up to a truck backing up in the property next to ours at 7:30am
Aside from the room being a little bit on the warm side, and the parkade being labelled something different than the resort name, everything was wonderful! Front desk closes at 11pm, but the staff made sure we had very detailed instructions, door codes, parking access, everything was so easy! Would absolutely stay here again!!
Quiet place.
Very basic room. Older building.
Good location to explore the Rockies
Good location with access to a pool, spa, BBQ and game room (only used the pool table). Reception people always happy to help. We used Canmore as our base to visit the national parks (Banff, Kootenay, Yoho, etc.), as well as Calgary.
The lady that booked us in was super friendly and helpful.
The guests stayed above us made too much noise until midnight. They were moving furniture and stumping. This happened both nights.
Not worth the cost, very plain and basic. Lots of walking to get to room, pool. To go outside.
Good place for couple of days. Pricey.
Staff were very friendly and eager to help make our stay exactly what we wanted
Staff went above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable,
Another expensive hostel - $400 per night.
As the title says, it's just barely above hostel quality but is demanding 5 star payment for what is barely a 3 star property. The decor is old, the cleanliness is average at best, parking is pot luck. Beds are very cheap and uncomfortable and when asked upon check in if they had any rooms with orthopedic beds, the answer was no, but we'll have a topper put on the bed for you. When we returned to the room, the topper was a large piece of sponge/foam and it had been put on the pull down sofa bed, also very uncomfortable. $800 for two nights. Absolutely rubbish. Do not let that lovely profile pic of the property with the Three Sisters fool you, our room didn't even have a balcony and if you cared to look out of the window, you see the carpark. This ridiculousness has to stop. Properties that people wouldn't have considered a few years ago, unless they were on a very tight budget and these were cheap - which they were, wouldn't have considered this. Now it's just baseline average at $400 a night, but the only thing upgraded is the price, the property is still a 2 star struggling to be a 3. Awful, if you have options, use them. On the bright side, great central location.
Room was nice, but you need about 5 different codes to get in, bit of a faff.
The room cleaning was infrequent or not at all. We stayed 16 days and the room was cleaned on 2 or 3 times.
It was very suprising that they just get the dirty towels and leave a pile of new ones and fix the bed without changing the sheets. Its a first for me to experience that out of all the hotels i’ve stayed in.
Just love this place. Thank you
Are stay was awesome!
Nice But Price is expensive
Average place
It was an average place. Older facilities. Ventilation is lacking.
Wonderful hotel
This was a wonderful hotel and we enjoyed our stay!
I love how close it is to the restaurants and shopping areas. The Mountain View out of the room was nice. There’s a kitchen and living space and kind staff. Will return
The property itself wasn’t wonderful. Definitely older and the stairwell housed bags of used bottles. They attempted to mask this with air freshener, it didn’t work. The smell permeated other areas and our room was close to the stairs. Wouldn’t recommend.
The room was much more spacious than I thought. It was clean, the view was from the outside was great and I had no problems with noise. My only issue was the $15 per day fee that wasn’t highlighted enough during my booking. They make you pay for amenities including WiFi, regardless if not you use them, if you book through a 3rd party.
Room is very simple and small. It’s clean and quiet but simple things like outlets were sparse. Gave college dorm vibes. No patio so could not enjoy the evening views. Staff were fantastic though. Requested a cot and it was delivered right away. Had to get the tv fixed and it was done quickly too. Very central for walking anywhere in town.
clean, quiet and good price
The unit was speak and span, close to shops, grocery (Save on Food), well-equipped kitchenette, front desk ladies were helpful. Only thing is that the pool was charged extra even if we did not have the time to use it. Overall, we loved our 5 nights stay.
Kids loved the pool and games room.
Air conditioner was very loud
This property is definitely dated and not with $400 per night, felt like a slightly better version of a super 8
We had pleasant stay, number key pad codes was confusing but not a problem
Overall was a good stay.
We love to stay in Canmore and this resort exceeded our expectations. As a family, we were impressed with the pool, games room, and staff. The value we got compared to other places is much higher. We will def be back.
Brief stay (July 2024)
We used this hotel after a late night flight from Calgary on our way to Jasper. We only stayed for 1 night, but the hotel was great. The room was clean and spacious. It was within walking distance of many stores and restaurants in Canmore. The hotel had a spa, which we did not use, but it looked nice. The underground parking was a bit unique, but once we figured it out, it was fine.
Good service. Quite and safe.
Very accommodating staff
Sunset Mountain Inn
The Sunset Mountain Inn was a great choice for visiting Canmore. The room was spacious and very clean.
The hotel is decent at best, but I don’t think it’s all their fault. They share the buildings with other people and companies and so the parking situation is absolutely horrendous. All the doors are run on codes so you have to carry around a cheat sheet to remember which each code is. The pool is ok if you have kids but if you don’t and don’t want to be around a bunch of screaming kids it’s not enjoyable in the least.
Pool
We stayed here a total of 5-nights towards the end of June 2024. The front desk staff was adequate on what they had to work with, but it’s absolutely certainly NOT a paradise resort as its claiming. Personally, this was no better than a Motel-6. It’s a dated run-down unit with not many amenities. This place is understaffed aside from the two ladies working at the front desk. Housekeeping doesn’t do their job as several times I had to go to the front desk to get soap and towels. One night there was no hot water as they said they were filling the spa. Another night one of the overhead fire sprinklers started leaking in the hallway as we were on the second floor. This place is way overpriced. If you’re looking for a bed and shower, then this might work. The photos looked good on the website as it’s a major misrepresentation of what you get. Here’s my honest opinion on this place. Would I recommend this to anyone, not unless you can’t find anything else in the area?
The pool was amazing!
Great property and the staff were very accommodating to our needs. The underground parking wasn't suitable for motorcycles (steep entry ramp and sandy parking surface) so the Resort arranged for us to park next to the main building. They allowed us to drop our luggage before arrival time. The property is within easy walking distance to downtown with food nearby. I would definitely stay here again.
Not hot water if taking shower at night
While this property is clearly showing its age, the service and amenities offered were wonderful. Checkin was quick and efficient, with lots of information provided. We had to change rooms during the stay, and front desk helpfully placed us in rooms side by side for an easy move. The room furnishings and common areas are showing their age, but everything was very clean. Access to green space outside, as well as the BBQs and firepit were great. It's not a five star hotel, but it was literally the cheapest in Canmore, so I'm super happy for what was offered. Only disappointment was that the hot tub was out of order, which was something we had really looked forward to while booking the room.
Very clean rooms. Rooms were serviced each day.The underground parking garage could use some floor cleaning. It gets very dirty on your luggage wheels. Also, our TV remote didn’t work and had to turn on and off on actual TV even after office personnel came up to check it. It probably needed new batteries. The only real negative was that the air conditioning must have been controlled because it would not come on until it was a certain temperature outside so the room was warm. It never got to that temperature so it didn’t work. We had to open the window to get cool air in and late at night there was some noise outside. We used a noise app to cover up the noise. Had the AC worked, there would not have been this issue. Other than these small issues, it was a great stay.
Nous avons eu un reclassement dans une chambre style condo. Très propre, bien équipé, personnel super gentil !
Ok.. only guest has to wash the dishes that is concerning
Overall average experience.
Not relaxing, complicated.
Very near shops, restaurants. Wifi is very slow in our room, rest is average
Great value! Clean, comfortable, quiet place to base for a few days to see Banff, Kananaskis, and even Lake Louise. Short drive from Calgary.
Convenient location, clean room & friendly staff.
The underground parking wasn’t being cleaned until June 18, so wouldn’t use it in that condition.
The mattress really needs to be fixed or changed. The spring In the mattresses were sort of damaged hence couldn't sleep properly and our room had two beds, both in same condition. Rest we loved the place and convenient around the facility.
Good
Nice spot.
BED BUGS
The main bedroom does not have a light and bed was so small.
The ladies who checked me in were absolutely amazing. I was exhausted walking in, they were so helpful.
We haven’t checked in here. Booking cancelled because the pool at the hotel is out of order. This was not communicated to me
We booked the room with Quinn size bad with pull out couch… bed felt like double size… didn’t bother them since we were staying there for 1 night
So far good.. reception and room was great
Staff was very friendly, great place to stay.
Unique pool with walkout hot tub
More of a hostel than a hotel. They say they have a restaurant and a pool but they don’t. It’s a different company a half a block away. Would not stay here again.
Great staff
The price was the #1 reason we booked this spot and for that it was great compared to anything else in the area. The room itself was small.and very dated. It was about 25* in our room overnight with the very small window open and the supplied fan on full blast. The beds and pillows were brutal and none of us got a decent sleep. I am not sure if the property is going through renovations or something but thr vending machine on out floor was all busted and broken. There were what seemed to be industrial dryers or machine in the parkade. Because of the beds, pillow and lack of temperature control for the room, this would be a hard pass for us in the future
Nice place for an affordable get away. It is located in a plaza with many of different stores and companies within walking distance. Would stay here again
It was a very convenient place to stay, but the beds aren’t comfortable. The rooms are also not very sound proof. Our bathroom was also really gross. There looked like there was blood on the floor and there was garbage in the shower. We don’t spend much time there. Pools nice. Lots of families.
Very quick check in and check out. Our room was very clean. Very good location
It was right beside the hospital to which I had an appointment!
Seems like false advertising
Love the pool waterslide and hot tub. Junior suites are great. Some of the lights were mostly lamps, with many extension cords, including toaster oven in a closet with an extension cord cut through the wall. Electrical to code is a needed improvement. There was also a power bar push against back of a sofa.
Good location. Room was good. No dining. Used the firepit laye at night..they provided blankets.
Everything was close
We were upgraded but the toilet in the second bathroom did not work. Otherwise everything was really good.
Front desk staff were very accomodating, allowing us to check in early, and providing extra room supplies (Garbage bags, soap, playpen, extra sheets and blankets, etc). The room was clean and laid out well but the kitchen light made a weird hum, which was more annoying than anything. We just left the light off any time we weren't in the kitchen. The kiddie pool was a big hit with our kids (1.5 and 3.5) and the hot tub with outdoor feature was nice for the adults. The pool is in a different building but had bathrooms so we could change there rather than running outside in our bathing suits. Parking situation wasn't ideal as the parkade had a height limit of 6'1, which means most trucks are unable to park below ground. They do have above ground parking but it is fairly minimal, so I would recommend using a car or small SUV rather than any larger vehicles (That goes for virtually any hotel in the area). The hotel is easy to get to being right off Highway 1, and is only a 15 minute walk from Canmore Main Street which features restaurants and local shopping. Rocky Mountain Bagel Co is directly across the road and has amazing bagel sandwiches, highly recommend stopping there if you are in the area! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will be returning.
Always a fantastic time
The property requires an upgrade. Half of the electric outlets in the room were either unserviceable or out of reach. For instance, we had to plug the coffee machine in the washroom and choose between turning on the lamp or the tv screen. There were very strong garbage smells in the shared kitchen and stairways. Also, the reach the pool and fitness room ( which is inaccessible before 0800), one must go outside. And there are no change rooms, only a small washroom near the pool. Not ideal in the winter. On the plus side, the front staff was very friendly and welcoming and the room door did not require a key which was great.
Loved my stay and will definitely stay again next time I’m out that way 🍻
I loved that we had access to the Grande Rockies pool! And it was nice to be able to walk over the The Grande Kitchen or The Georgetown Inn to eat. But I found stains on my sheets and was completely grossed out!!
Pool and restaurant not in building.
The noise level in this building was unacceptable. In the binder in the room the first page is dedicated to the noise bylaw as this has been a problem at this resort. True enough, the walls are not sound proof and the amount of banging and scraping coming from the floor above kept us up and woke us early. The temperature in the room was very warm - too warm to sleep. We turned off the thermostat within a couple of hours of checking in, opened the window and it was still stifling in the room. There were good things about the place: Cleanliness was quite good. The front desk staff were friendly and hospitable; albeit I disliked being called 'sweetheart' with every interaction. They were helpful and pleasant. The pool was quite large with a waterslide which was quite crowded. To be expected as we stayed on a weekend over the Christmas holidays. Regardless, the pool and hot tub areas were quite nice. It was great to have heated, free, underground parking. This place is not listed as a time share but that is exactly what it is. Housekeeping is not daily unless you pay for it. That was unclear to me when I booked this place and likely would have booked somewhere else had I known this in advance. A few other minor inconveniences like several electrical outlets and wall light switches not working in addition to the things mentioned above is what essentially makes me give this place an overall 2/5.
